Major League Wrestling Owner and President George Steinbrenner has cancelled next week's live edition of Friday Night Heat, and will air a "best of" show in its place. He has also intensified his search for a new commissioner, blaming the championship committee for the various incidents that occurred last night on FNH. Furthermore, he has sent out a memo to everyone on the MLW roster - an ultimatum, some have suggested - but no one has revealed what the memo says.

Rumors are still swirling around Major League Wrestling about the cancellation of this week's live Friday Night Heat, and the memo that was sent to all MLW personnel. One wrestler, who does not wish to be named, has indicated that MLW Owner George Steinbrenner's preference for team wrestling is at the forefront again. The source further indicated that he wants the wrestlers to form "franchises", with a minimum of four wrestlers per group, by the next live edition of FNH.

The scene: three men are lounging at the Ben T. Davis Beach in Tampa.
They are MLW's Real Main Event: Paul Orndorff, Bob Orton, Jr., and the MLW World Heavyweight champion, Roddy Piper. They appear relaxed, but upon closer inspection, they are discussing something important... and have been for over an hour.
Orndorff: "Look, I still say we don't bring someone else in. Steinbrenner insists on four people per 'franchise'? So what? We're the Real Main Event!"
Piper: "I hear ya, Wonderful. We were the top guys on the most important card of all-time... we have standards. And if you think I'm invitin' someone like Hogan, or Snuka, or God forbid Mr. T, into the fold, you've got another think coming!"
The two men frowned and nodded in agreement, and "the Cowboy" took his turn. "You're both right, but I think we all know one more guy that can sit at our table any day of the week. It's true, he wasn't with us back then - in fact, he wasn't even at Wrestlemania I. But, he's the first-ever King of the Ring. He's a two-time Intercontinental champ, and he held the belt back when it meant something for over 500 days. He talks the talk and he walks the walk... and I invited him here today to talk business."
Piper and Orndorff were intrigued, because they knew exactly who Orton was referring to. A few moments later, as if on cue, the 275-pounder sauntered up to the trio, looking completely at home on the beach.
Don Muraco: "Aloha. Let's get down to it, alright?"

The scene: the office of MLW Owner George Steinbrenner. However, he is not there, and it is closed.
The MLW World Tag-Team champions Edge and Christian stood in the front of the door. For the past several days, they halfheartedly tried to recruit friends into an alliance to abide by Steinbrenner's orders... but they were coming up short. Former partners, men with whom the duo shared championships in the past like Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Lance Storm, and others - none of them were available for a variety of reasons. Acquaintances like Rhyno, Kurt Angle... same situation.
They were interrupted by another team who were having similar troubles. At first, Matt and Jeff Hardy assumed that they'd be able to recruit their OMEGA peers and alumni, but the only man that joined up with them was the suddenly-partnerless Shane Helms. The others saw how intense the tag-team scene was in the territory, and decided that they'd have better luck elsewhere.
The four men, who broke through the mid-card ceiling with a ladder match at No Mercy years earlier, looked each other over. The conversation began.

Another franchise debuted over the weekend during Major League Wrestling live action in Sarasota, Florida. After America's Most Wanted successfully defended their Intercontinental Tag-Team championship against Southern Comfort, they were attacked by Dexter Lumis, and it turned into a three-on-two beatdown. The tide quickly turned when the U.S. Express ran down to the ring and helped AMW repel their attackers. After the Wyatt Family left, James Storm took the house microphone and welcomed Windham and Rotundo into their fold, calling the group America's Team.

TnT (Trent Barreta and Tyson Kidd) finally got their MLW Florida Tag-Team championship match against American Alpha last night in Fort Myers in a very unusual lumberjack match. The wrestlers circling the ring - the Hart Foundation, the World's Greatest Tag-Team, the Revival, and the Acadian Express - were there not to keep the combatants inside the ring, but to stand watch in case the Dynamite Kid and his stable of thugs tried to interfere. It was a technical clinic, and the champs retained at 19:35 when Chad Gable caught Barreta with a bridging German suplex. Fortunately, there was no interference.
