XPW Remixed: The Music
Volume I
XPW Remixed presents the first music collection in company history. A virtual track list designed to emulate the live XPW Remixed in-ring experience. Every XPW Remixed show is part wrestling/part MMA/part concert/mosh pit = all spectacle. Here, you can RAWK OUT to the official entrances, walk-out and theme songs of XPW Remixed. Warning: this should be played at a loud volume... preferably, in a residential area...
** TERRY FUNK: "Cowboy" by Kid Rock (appropriate for the mentality of a lone wolf cowboy heading out West to make a statement - exactly as the Funker has, both in the original XPW and MSD's "Remixed" collection)
** SKANDOR AKBAR: "Arab Money" by Busta Rhymes (This is the song that got Busta Rhymes album "Back on My B.S." BANNED in the Middle East by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). "Back on My B.S." was released internationally, but because of "Arab Money", it is not available to buy as a CD there. According to the National Media Council, the lyrics were considered to be offensive to Arabs and to Islam, and permission for distribution was therefore denied).
** MIL MASCARAS: "Sky High" by Jigsaw (Epic-level entrance song that resembles a high-wire circus act, or superhero theme)
** NEW JACK: "Natural Born Killaz" by Dr Dre & Ice Cube (Heard at countless ECW events over the years - the manic, thumping musical accompaniment of another New Jack wrestling assault. This song was the first time Dre and Cube teamed up since the split of NWA, and was supposed to be included in a joint album called "Heltah Skeltah" that never dropped. Years later, Cube would once again team with Dre on the Aftermath label, but the duo never released a project. Here in XPW Remixed, New Jack and violence will always go together like "AC & OJ").
** "ROCKSTAR" JOEY KAOS: "Rock Star" by Cypress Hill (an entrance theme used in the original XPW, which is notable because the song was just coming out at the time. An instant classic, it was even remixed into "Rap Superstar" featuring a spoken word interlude from then up-and-coming mega star Eminem).
** MISSY HYATT: "I Hate Myself For Loving You" by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts (Big song from the late '80s that once reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor played the guitar solo in the song).
RICK ROSS: "I'm Not A Star" (Event Theme Song)
** "SICK" NICK MONDO: "Last Resort" by Papa Roach (Nick Mondo is an underground death match legend, notorious for the level of punishment and inhuman bumps he took in his short career. "Last Resort" was his official entrance theme, and every time it ripped through the arena sound system the audience knew they were in for a show. Papa Roach also had the theme song for Monday Night RAW for a while too).
** THE ORIGINAL SHEIK (and SABU): "Huka Blues" by Harry Slash and the Slashtones (In the 90's, this NY band would produce music for ECW - including Tazs theme, and "Huka Blues" - they're most well known wrestling contribution. The eerie, Middle-eastern infused hard-rock beat that heralds the arrival of these notorious mad men has haunted the nightmare of countless opponents over the years).
** BRUNO SAMMARTINO: "Black & Yellow" by Wiz Khalifa (I love Khalifa for obvious reasons, and this particular song is used quite frequently at my hometown Boston Bruins game. But I chose it for da Brune for a few reasons. One, it gives him some kind of relevance even if it's a token mainstream rap song. But most importantly, the song is a reference to the team colors of Pittsburgh PA, hometown of Bruno Sammartino. So when "Black and Yellow" plays in XPW Remixed, you know it's a hometown homage of sorts from the greatest wrestling champion who ever lived).
** EDDIE GILBERT: "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer (A 1979 hit single, "Hot Stuff" won a Grammy and is considered on the greatest songs ever by Rolling Stones and Billboard).
** THE MESSIAH: "Messiah" by Fear Factory (Really loud, fast and violent - this song is the perfect walk out theme for XPW's The Messiah: virtual reincarnation of the Son of God himself. Messiah was an XPW original who received one of their biggest home brewed pushes. But things fell apart amidst allegations of improprieties, and Messiah switched coasts to work with CZW - but not before he was brutally assaulted in his home and his thumb severed (true story). Now in XPW Remixed, he's back on a crusade to regain XPW from the clutches of the Devil and his mortal minions (Doink Rebourne) or die trying).
** JACK SWAGGER: "Get On Your Knees" by Age Against the Machine (This New England band is a cover band/tribute to Rage Against The Machine, and this song is their biggest hit thus far. It's been used as Swaggers official WWE theme song since his days as ECW Champion).
TRUTH SPEAKS: "One of These Days" (Event Theme Song)
This song is by one of my boys from Brockton, and I always jump at the chance to promote their music wherever I go. So here's a small piece of that Brock life for you boys, with the promise of much much more to come as XPW Remixed continues it's foray onto the East Coast.
