WCCW Lone Star Live! From The Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas Saturday, October 15th
Promoter: Paul Boesch
General Manager: William Regal
Announce Team: The Professional Brian Myers & Pat McAfee
We open the show with Pat McAfee talking to GM William Regal in the ring. Regal tells us WCCW Promoter Paul Boesch will be here with a big announcement to close the show. Before then, however, the General Manager has a few issues to take care of.
He calls Wahoo McDaniel out to the ring. Regal tells Wahoo he doesn't know what the cause of the issues between he and Dustin Rhodes is, but he sure wants them settle it in the ring like real men, not busting each other open with the World Class fans within harms way. Wahoo wonders why Regal is worried about a little blood, and tells Pat that the tough Indian's got scars on his foreskin bigger than the one he gave Dustin on his forehead.
Regal is not amused, and says the match will happen in the ring, even if he has to send the entire roster out there to keep Wahoo and Dustin in place. Wahoo says let's do it right now, and Regal rebukes him. Regal insists Wahoo knows darn well The Natural is not in Round Rock tonight. But if Wahoo truly wants a fight, he can have a match with The World's Strongest Man Mark Henry right here tonight. Wahoo laughingly accepts and heads back behind the curtain.
Regal straightens his tie and continues, telling Pat now that that is out of the way, he has received a request from Michael P.S. Hayes for a rematch between Terry Gordy and Bam Bam Bigelow. He is not inclined to grant the match as is, seeing as how it will likely end up in chaos. What he will do is give Mr. Bigelow some better odds and let him choose a tag team partner to take on the Freebirds. And that match will take place at the next WCCW Supercard, Wrestling Star Wars on October 29th, in San Marcos, Texas.
Pat kicks us over to Brian Myers, who tells us about the first match.
The Mercenaries w/ General Skandor Akbar vs. The Rock & Roll Express.
Ricky and Robert start out hot, controlling the action for the first few minutes. Akbar starts to look worried, and swipes at Ricky's leg as he runs the ropes. Morton kicks at the general and that opens the door for the Mercenaries to do their thing, grounding and pounding Ricky into the mat. Myers notes that the masked men aren't that much bigger than Ricky and Robert, but they are so much more aggressive. After a brief hot tag, Mercenary 1 lifts Robert for a German Suplex, the second dropkicks him in the face as he is thrown back and Merc 1 bridges for the 3 count.
Your Winners, via Pinfall (8:17) The Mercenaries.
As soon as the bell sounds, the Mercenaries begin to kick Gibson repeatedly, Ricky runs in, but gets neutralized by Akbar's cane. Both Rock & Rollers are down and not moving before security and Mr. Regal can restore order.
Pat notes that this is two beat downs in two matches for Akbar's new charges and Myers speculates on what their reasoning could be.
Tito Santana comes out and delivers a heated promo in the ring. He recounts that Strike Force was formed because he had to come out and save Rick Martel's useless butt from the Islanders of all people. They got along ok at first, but Tito always had to carry the workload. Martel turned on him and cost them the WWF titles. And what good did Martel's heel turn do for The Model? None whatsoever. No World Titles, no major matches, just putting better guys over and a throwaway WCW TV title run when that title had ceased to matter. Tito reminded everyone that he was the bigger man and reconciled the team. He carried Martel on his back for years afterwards, and carried him all the way to the Universal Tag Team Titles. Then, just a few months ago, Martel's idiocy cost them those UWA titles. He's tired of carrying that no talent hack, and the fans are going to see a new and improved Matador.
Tito Santana vs. Unnamed Local Worker
The poor guy doesn't even get his name announced before Tito is all over him with a vicious streak of forearm shots and boots to the face. The official manages to separate them to get the bell rang, and Santana flies out of the corner with another forearm shot. We get a scoop Slam, a couple of suplexes and Tito points to the motionless opponent, telling the crowd he wants to do the same to Rick Martel. A jumping piledriver and a 3 count later, the bell rings mercifully.
Your Winner, Via pinfall (1:48) Tito Santana.
Brian and Pat narrate the brief highlights, basically the entire match on replay, and set us up for the next bout.
Demolition vs. The Blackjacks
Mulligan and Lanza keep the match going for longer than expected with their brawling ability, but the cohesiveness of Demolition turns this one into an extended squash. Axe with the pin on Lanza after the Demolition Decapitation.
Your Winners, Pinfall (5:22) Demolition.
Smash grabs the mic and tells the people they are here for the World Class Tag Team Titles and no one can stand in their way.
Pat says he agrees with them, and Brian runs down some of the other teams they will have to contend with to get there, The Road Warriors, Doom, War Machine, even the Freebirds and Rock & Roll Express.
Mark Henry w/ Miss Tessmacher vs Wahoo McDaniel
Wahoo uses his veteran savvy to keep the World's Strongest man off balance. Quick attacks and vicious chops. Miss Tessmacher seems unwilling to get involved as she normally would. Henry fires back catching Wahoo with a fall away slam and grinding him to a halt. A double clothesline puts both men down, and that's when Dustin Rhodes arrives and pulls Wahoo out of the ring. They fight through the barricades, knocking it over and spilling fans to the floor along the way. Dustin wedges Wahoo's head in a chair and German Suplexes him into the temporary bleachers set up on the field. Regal and Security are out, along with some members of Round Rock's Finest. Order is eventually restored, and the PA announcer makes it official.
Your Winner, Disqualification (6:18) Wahoo McDaniel.
Tessmacher and Henry protest that the match should be thrown out, but it is a moot point as they walk away arms raised.
Brian and Pat are discussing plans for a Tag Team Title Tournament, when Regal comes straight to ringside and apologizes to the fans, especially those who were put in danger by those two cretins. They will face off one more time at Wrestling Star Wars in a Lumberjack Steel Cage Match.
Pat is aghast at the insanity of such a stipulation. Myers tries to talk through the logistics of it when the competitors for the Main Event come to the ring.
The Total Package Lex Luger vs The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff w/ Ivan Koloff
Both men try to establish their dominance in the power department, but that quickly becomes a stalemate of pushing and shoving. Nikita with a powerslam, Luger a snap suplex. Double shoulder tackle results in both men standing their ground. Haymakers fly, and Luger gets backed into the corner. He catches a charging Russian with a knee and hip tosses him across the ring.
Luger starts to work the back with forearm shots and hard corner whips. Nikita staggers into a backdrop and Lex poses. Nikita trips him up and catches Luger with a SICKLE as he gets back to his feet. 1...2.. NO! Luger powers out and Koloff cant believe it. Koloff drops a couple of elbows and goes to the middle turnbuckle for a kneedrop ala Uncle Ivan. Luger rolls out of the way and loads Koloff up for the Torture Rack. Nikita is close enough to grab the ropes and drops behind Luger. He locks arms and twists him around Backslide! 1...2... NO! Once again it isn't enough to stop the Total Package.
Luger to his feet first and knees Nikita in the back. He takes control with a headlock and abdominal stretch, trying to wear out the Russian. Lex snaps off a DDT 1...2.. NO! It is Nikita who barely survives this time. Luger pulls him in for a suplex, but Koloff blocks it and delivers one of his own. Shoulderbreaker. DDT. Then Koloff grabs Lex by the head and smashes his head repeatedly into the turnbuckle until the referee's count reaches 4 and 7/8. Luger is dazed, and Nikita pounces with another SICKLE! The third time is the charm 1...2...3!
Your Winner, via pinfall (16:55) The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff!
Koloff celebrates with Ivan and then Paul Boesch joins them in the ring.
Boesch announces he has purchased a contract for the UWA Universal Champion, The Universal Treasure Nick Aldis, to defend his title here in WCCW at the upcoming Black Friday Supercard on November 25th. The crowd is enthusiastic about this. Suddenly, Music hits to interrupt Paul.
Seth Freakin' Rollins comes out, cackling and laughing all the way to the ring, and he has a microphone. He backhandedly congratulates Nikita on his big win, noting that he would have done it much faster, but hey, Seth isn't here to start a fight with the Russian Nightmare tonight. He puts his arm around Boesch, and leans in, telling him that The Universal Champion only faces the best of the best and clearly that means he will be facing The Visionary, The Revolutionary, the former Universal Champion AND the only champion World Class Championship Wrestling has right now, Seth Freakin' Rollins Baby! So Paul can go ahead and put HIS name on the contract, as he sees no other options in that locker room.
Boesch agrees that Seth would be a fine choice, but the decision isn't up to Paul. Because WCCW is new to the UWA and still getting off the ground, they hasn't had a chance to showcase many of their top stars. Therefore, Nick Aldis HIMSELF gets to choose who he thinks a worthy opponent will be. He remarks that wins like we just saw tonight would definitely keep Nikita Koloff at the top of the list. As for Seth, he will have to wait like everybody else for two weeks Wrestling Star Wars when Nick Aldis will be there IN PERSON in San Marcos to announce his choice of opponents.
Seth is not happy about this news, and says The Universal Treasure isn't half the man he is. Paul says that might be true, but something Seth said earlier is also very true. Seth IS the only champion in the company right now, and therefore will be defending his Texas Heavyweight Championship in the Main Event of Wrestling Star Wars on October 29th, against..... The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff!
Koloff, who had been silently standing in the background the entire time, suddenly snatches the belt off Rollins' shoulder and out of Seth's grip. He raises it high above his head. Rollins goes eye to eye with Nikita as Myers and Pat encourage us to join them in San Marcos in two weeks time for Wrestling Star Wars.
