World Class Championship Wrestling Presents: Blast Off!
Live! From The Fertitta Center, Houston, Texas
Promoter: Paul Boesch
General Manager: William Regal
Announce Team: The Professional Brian Myers & Pat McAfee
Handshake before the bell pops the crowd. Magnum takes Pillman by surprise with his speed and agility, dodging a dropkick and leapfrogging Pillman to connect with a dropkick of his own. We get some old school Criss cross action, then Pillman arm drags TA and follows with a big powerslam. Pillman impresses TA with his strength. Both men reset on their feet and acknowledge each other. Pillman hip tosses out of an abdominal stretch, then TA hits a big delayed vertical suplex. We get some close calls with a Pillman sunset flip and a Magnum backslide. Flyin' Brian up top for a double axe handle. TA catches him in mid air and seamlessly turns him for the snap belly to belly suplex. Easy cover and the 1, 2, 3.
Your Winner, via pinfall, (8:48) Magnum TA
Brian and Pat narrate the highlights, then talk about the next competitors as they enter the arena.
Luger is still posing as the bell sounds and Adams takes the fight to Lex with repeated blows to the head and neck. Luger's power takes hold and he ragdolls Adams for a bit, before missing a charge in the corner and eating turnbuckle. The Brit rallies with a backdrop and a series of chops. He hits a bulldog for a 2 count, then seems prepped to hit a superkick. Luger catches the foot, cradles Adams for an over the knee backbreaker, and then finishes him off with a Torture Rack
Your Winner, via submission (5:02) The Total Package Lex Luger
Myers points out that Adams played to the crowd maybe a little too long before trying the superkick. McAfee starts to talk, but then they are encroached upon by General Skandor Akbar.
Akbar cuts a promo in the ring about the newest additions to Devastation Incorporated, The Mercenaries. They are brutal, unrelenting and solely focused on taking out their opponents. The men are in standard black masks and tights adorned with Blue M's and are barely distinguishable from each other.
Hot start for the babyfaces as they corner Mercenary 1 and use the quick tag method of cutting the ring off. They hit a double suplex and look for another tandem move when Merc 2 pulls Fulton from the ring. Bobby misses his attack and the tables are turned. Rogers plays Ricky Morton for a few minutes, taking a number of impactful-looking knee and elbow shots to the face. As he lunges for the tag, Akbar distracts the referee, so it is disallowed. The Masked men hit a double brainbuster, followed by one of them delivering a top rope leg drop for the pinfall. Fulton can't break the cover up in time.
Your Winners, via pinfall (9:33) The Mercenaries
After the match, The Mercenaries and Akbar put the boots to the Fantastics, not relenting until a half dozen security staff hit the ring to pull them off their victims.
McAfee and Myers are disgusted by Akbar's actions, and wonder how much chaos the Mercenaries can cause.
This one never gets started in the ring. Wahoo meets Dustin halfway down the ramp and they brawl into the crowd. Wahoo chops Dustin's chest red, and Rhodes tosses Wahoo into a equipment box. guardrails and chairs are brandished back and forth, and security has a hard time tracking them down. Out on the concourse, Wahoo tosses Dustin into the front doors, busting the glass out and opening up The Natural's face. Rhodes ends up with a power cord and is choking Wahoo out when security and Mr. Regal finally separate the two men.
Official Decision (0:00) No Match
Myers & McAfee both are shocked at the unexpected violence and debate what might be the cause of such intense hatred. Neither man has the answer, and they turn to talk about the next match, which promises much of the same.
Bigelow goes head first at Terry at the bell, and the men tumble to the floor. They trade fists and elbows and soon enough are swinging chairs and making solid contact too. Hayes is dancing around causing just enough chaos to keep Bigelow off balance. Gordy slams him through an announce table. As Bigelow gets to his feet, he takes one of the table legs and smashed Hayes with it. Gordy sends him head first into the ring post. The Freebirds begin setting up tables in the ring. Hayes decides to go get Bigelow. He gets a headbutt and thrown into the rings steps for his troubles. The Bam Bams are both in the ring now, Gordy is tossed through a table propped in the corner, then Bigelow Splashes Gordy through another table and gets the 1..2..3
Your Winner, via pinfall (8:11) Bam Bam Bigelow
The announcers phrase that decision as a bit of an upset, considering it was almost 2 on 1 there for a stretch, although we know that won't be the end of the Freebirds, that's for sure. They cut to an extensive video package detailing the rivalry between the next 2 combatants.
The Bell sounds and the two storied rivals stand nose to nose talking to each other. We can't pick up the conversation, but it ends with Dusty popping Flair in the jaw. They trade blows for the first few minutes, before Ric snags a headlock and grinds Dusty to the mat. Dusty rallies up and we get a nice series of chain wrestling. The repeated headlocks, takedowns, leapfrogs, arm drags and hip tosses end up with Dusty snaring a headlock. Flair shoots him off for a backdrop. Dusty delivers an elbow. Flair with some kicks and then a suplex. Dusty comes back for a Side Slam. Flair reverses an armbar and goes to his signature chops in the corner. Dusty knows how to chop too apparently. He connects with several, then delivers a big Bionic Elbow that floor Flair, who rolls to the outside.
Dusty gives chase, Flair rolls back in and kicks Rhodes in the face as he followed suit. Flair with a chop block to the back of the knee, and then begins his classic working of the knee. Ankle on the middle ropes and Flair lands on it. Dusty is hurting badly now. Flair to the top rope, seriously, why does he even try at this point? Dusty catches him, Big slam. High impact backdrop. Hard whip into the corner for the flip over the ropes, landing on the apron, only for Dusty to level him with a clothesline.
Flair falls to the floor, and for the second time, Dusty gives chase. He bangs Ric's head on the guardrail a few times and slams him onto the floor. Dusty is the one in the ring first, as Flair barely beats the 10 count. Rhodes with the whip into the ropes, and catches Flair on the rebound with a Sleeper hold! Flair struggles but Dusty has him in the middle of the ring. Many tense Minutes go by as Ric struggles for the ropes only to be drug back time after time. His face turning purple, Ric stops fighting back. The referee checks his arm. It falls once, twice, but the third time, a desperate Ric grabs the official by the collar. As the referee pulls himself free, Ric mule kicks Dusty.
Rhodes immediately lets go and bends over in agony. Ric delivers a knee lift, then small packages Dusty. He grabs a hand full of tights and holds on for the 1...2...3
Your Winner, via pinfall (22:33) The Nature Boy Ric Flair
Pat McAfee is losing his mind he loved that match so much. Myers tries to calm him down, but Pat is being Pat. Myers talks about the history of the Texas Title as GM William Regal heads to ringside with new title belt covered in a cloth, ready to award it to the winner of the next match.
We are reminded that this match is one fall to a finish, so expect every competitor to play a lot of defense as well, breaking up pins and submissions left and right. Wheeler pops in the mouth Ultimo and tosses him over the ropes. Ultimo Skins the cat and gets to his feet to eat a superkick from Rollins. Yuta and Rey toss him out of the ring and give us a nice bit of Lucha style goodness full of springboards and arm drags and wristlocks.
Seth takes them both out with a Phoenix Splash. Dragon with a missile dropkick and the first 2 count, covering Yuta. Rey with the save, getting tossed to the floor by Rollins for his efforts. Dragon with the dive between the ropes onto Rey, Seth makes the plancha over the ropes onto the two men, and Yuta makes it three for three dives by somersaulting over the ropes and crashing into the sea of humanity on the floor.
We begin a long, slow, process of everyone getting to their feet. Eventually, they all roll back in and start to trade standard blows back and forth. It's anyone's game at this point. Rollins is tripped into the ropes. Rey connects with the 619, then a springboard frog splash! Ultimo connects with a Moonsault on Rey! Wheeler comes crashing down on them both with a suicide dive! Rollins out of nowhere with a curb stomp on Yuta! Rolls him up 1...2...3!
Your Winner, via pinfall (16:02) and the NEW WCCW Texas Champion, Seth Freakin' Rollins
Lots of video highlights as Rollins celebrates and yanks the belt out of Regal's hands to helicopter it over his head on the buckles. Regal is clearly annoyed.
Pat is going hoarse over here, so Myers steers us back on course. Paul Boesch comes down to handle the ring introductions for the main event.
Fast and furious start for the first 6-7 minutes. Lots of chain spots and frequent tags. Wheeler slows things down with an extended abdominal stretch spot on Santana. Martel makes the tag and cleans house, trapping Cash in the Boston Crab. Dax with a kick to the back of the head to break the hold, and Tito greets him with a dropkick. Dax puts Martel in the Sharpshooter, and refuses to break right away as Rick grabs the rope. The official starts pulling on his hands to break it, and it is Santana's turn for a shot to the back of the head. The referee takes a small bump and is dazed in the corner a bit.
All four men in the ring now. Martel trading blows with Dax. Tito backdrops Cash out of the ring. He hits the ropes for a flying forearm shot. At the last second, Dax sees it coming and pulls Martel into the line of fire. Tito pops up in shock, staring at his partner. He turns around and gets hit with a Big Rig 1...2...3!
Your Winners, via pinfall (14:57) and still the UWA Universal Tag Team Champions, F-T-R!
Martel tris to help Santana up as FTR back up the ramp, titles in hand. Tito is pissed, and lets that Latin Temper ( (C) Jesse Ventura) get the best of him and shove Martel to the mat. Rick tries to explain what happened, but Tito isn't having any of it. SLAP across Martel's face! Martel grabs his jaw in shock, and Santana hits him with a bunch of uppercuts. Martel falls back into the corner, dazed. Tito feigns an apology, then kicks Rick in the jewels! Tito delivers a piledriver and storms out of the arena , dodging debris from the Houston faithful.
