~~~ We see inside the Fertitta Center on the campus of the University of Houston. A press Conference (We won't risk calling it a media scrum based off of current events) is set up with a large banner visible behind the podium ~~~
The venerable Paul Boesch walks to the podium and the murmur stops.
Boesch: Good afternoon, and thank you for coming.
Professional Wrestling in Texas has a deep and storied tradition. Texas was often the backbone and lifeblood of the business over the decades. Legends and heroes have come from all five major territories in the state. Unfortunately, that tradition was much lost when the NWA territories dried up. With the advent of the UWA, there is once again opportunity to renew the passion and tradition.
I have purchased the intellectual property rights to the largest and most well known of those Texas territories, World Class Championship Wrestling. I have been in negotiations with dozens of top wrestling talent from across not only the state and nation, but indeed, from across the globe.
During the coming months, World Class will begin to take shape. We will revive not only the core championships that WCCW fans are accustomed to seeing, but establish others that pay homage to the other great wrestling legends from San Antonio, Amarillo, El Paso, Dallas/Fort Worth, and my homestead here in Houston.
As you may well have guessed, we will host the very first WCCW event here in the Fertitta Center. With Houston being the home of the Houston Astros, Rockets, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys and NASA, I feel it fitting to christen our first event on September 25th, 2022 Blast Off
On the 25th, We will see one Championship decided, another defended, and the journey to crowning our first World Class Heavyweight Champion will get underway.
At Blast off, Seth Freakin' Rollins, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Dragon and Rey Mysterio Jr. will compete in a Four Way Tornado Match to determine the next WCCW Texas Champion.
With this being our inaugural event under the UWA banner, I have contracted to have the reigning UWA Tag Team Champions FTR defend their titles in a rematch against former champions and new WCCW signees Tito Santana and Rick Martel, Strike Force. I would like nothing more than to see one of the major UWA titles around the waist of WCCW talent.
And Finally, The World Class Heavyweight Championship will be determined in a Best of Seven Series between two long time rivals with a history of great world title matches and of bringing out the best in each other. Blast off will see match one of this series where The American Dream Dusty Rhodes will take on longtime adversary Nature Boy Ric Flair.
There are , of course, more contracts to finalize and matches to sign. I will conclude this gathering with the naming of the WCCW General Manager William Regal and Television Announce Team of Brian Myers and Pat McAfee.
We will see you here next week for Blast Off.
~~~ Boesch waves and heads off the stage as the murmur swells amongst the gathering. ~~~
