INTERNATIONAL PRO WRESTLING
"SATURDAY NIGHT SPOTLIGHT, EPISODE 1"
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND
The stage is set for an intense night of action, as the lights are low with Jeremy Borash welcoming everyone here in Baltimore to the show, promising a great night of action!
LIGHTWEIGHT MATCH
Amazing Red vs. Taka Michinoku
Taka is able to weather the early onslaught of Red, delivering a Superkick to the cornered Red late in the match before locking him into a Crossface hold for the submission in what was a short but exciting opener!
Winner by Submission: Taka Michinoku
LIGHTWEIGHT MATCH
Kalisto vs. Mistico
We had a pure lucha libre showdown for the second match of the night, as the fast and innovative Kalisto took on the graceful and agile Mistico! There were some sketchy spots in this one, but Mistico would manage to take the win with a Huracanrana roll-up after an exciting back and forth sequence.
Winner by Pinfall: Mistico
LIGHTWEIGHT MATCH
Jamie Noble vs. Shane Helms
These two know each other well, and while they are both light and fast, they put on a more grueling, methodical show for these fans. Noble was able to ground Helms multiple times, working over his legs, and Helms would work the crowd and draw them in, making a big comeback and getting a near fall after a Nightmare on Helms Street. Helms would attempt the Vertebreaker, but Noble would escape and chop block his leg, locking on a Calf Crusher to get the submission!
Winner by Submission: Jamie Noble
CATCHWEIGHT MATCH
Jordan Myles vs. Rush
These two have met in the past and Myles came up short, but he wasn't looking to make the same mistakes twice. These two had good chemistry and really worked the crowd throughout, as each has a very unique charisma that shined through. Myles would make a tactical error near end of the match, attempting a Frog Splash but taking too long to do so, opening him up to the knees of "The White Bull". Rush would deliver his Mexican Destroyer, followed by the Bull's Horns after that, and unfortunately, the result was much the same for Myles tonight as Rush's win streak continues.
Winner by Pinfall: Rush
LIGHTWEIGHT MATCH
Kushida vs. Low Ki
This was a very good ground based back and forth contest that once again slowed things down a bit for the fans. Kushida would attack the arm of Ki very tactically throughout, while Ki would try to work the legs of Kushida with holds and kicks. Kushida was able to counter a leg lock by Ki late in the match, managing to lock on Kimura to get the submission victory after an absolute war. Both men looked like they'd been through Hell by the end, and the fans showed them both good respect.
Winner by Submission: Kushida
HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH
Curt Hawkins vs. Perry Saturn
Hawkins had a pretty good showing in his debut, despite a loss, against Bronson Reed at "Friday Night Wrestling", but Perry Saturn proved to be a much different animal. Saturn would wreck Hawkins with a T-Bone Suplex, followed by a Pumphandle Suplex, and Hawkins found himself on the outside in a lot of trouble. Saturn would follow him out and toss him into the ring steps and then over the timekeeper's table into the crowd, and the referee would temporarily stop the match to get things back into the ring. Dan Severn actually made his way out to observe this, as Saturn has had some issues in the past with sportsmanlike conduct. Saturn would quickly deliver a high angle swinging Uranage Suplex, followed into a an Arm Triangle. From there, Saturn would repeatedly knee Hawkins in the liver until he tapped out.
Winner by Submission: Perry Saturn
Once again, Saturn refused to relinquish the hold, and Severn actually came in and helped officials break things up! Saturn would shove past Severn and head to the back, and Severn would grab a microphone, yelling that Saturn is going to be getting a fine in the mail! Saturn gives him a two finger salute as he walks backwards behind the curtain.
HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH
Baron Corbin vs. Chris Benoit
Benoit came out fiery in this one, trying to keep the pressure on the bigger Corbin with kicks and chops, before trying to go after his left arm. Corbin was able to gauge at Benoit's eyes and then send him out of the ring, before putting a pretty good beating on him on the outside. Corbin would suplex Benoit on the floor, slam him into the steps, drop him throat first on the guardrail and then drop him face first onto the apron before sending him back into the ring. Corbin would gloat to the fans before picking up Benoit and delivering Deep Six, but Benoit kicked out at two. Corbin would deliver the Black Hole Sun, trying for another cover, but Benoit still wouldn't stay down! Corbin would call for the end, looking for the End of Days, but Benoit managed to reverse it into a Crippler Crossface, but Corbin got to the ropes to break up the hold!
Benoit would try for a German Suplex, but Corbin would elbow his way out and run off the ropes, attempting a Big Boot, but Benoit would dodge it and grab him from behind again, but Corbin would rush to the ropes and grab on, sending Benoit flying backwards off of him. Benoit would get back up, however, and fly into Corbin with a clothesline, before running off of the ropes and hitting him with another one, taking him off his feet this time! Corbin would stumble up and Benoit had him now! ONE GERMAN SUPLEX... AND THEN ANOTHER... AND THEN ANOTHER... AND THEN ANOTHER!
Benoit lets go and gives the throat slash, and these fans are on their feet! Benoit heads up top, the arms are out... DIVING HEADBUTT! Benoit makes the cover, and he gets the three count! Baron Corbin put up a really good fight, but he couldn't get the job done against the "Rabid Wolverine"!
Winner by Pinfall: Chris Benoit
MIDDLEWEIGHT MATCH
Jushin Liger vs. Owen Hart
The fans started off split, as they were excited for the debut of one of the legendary Harts, but Owen did a good job of stopping that in its tracks. Owen went to work on Liger viciously, ripping at his eyes and mask, taking him down and mocking him, before showboating to the crowd about being the greatest! Liger would brush all of this off and come back at Hart with a vengeance, eventually sending him to the outside with a Rolling Kick before coming off the buckles with a high Crossbody Block to the floor, getting the crowd on their feet and cheering "Thunder"!
"The Black Hart" would catch Liger with a flagrant low blow to turn the tides, before grabbing by the legs and slingshotting him into the turnpost! Hart would then stand on Liger's back and mock the crowd, asking them how they like their hero now!? Hart would send Liger back into the ring before delivering a Missile Dropkick, but only received a two count on the cover. Hart would argue briefly with the referee, showing him how to count, before applying a chinlock and trying to put Liger to sleep. The referee would check Liger to see if he was out, as Hart would shift his body weight and actually flop himself into the air to try to get more leverage, yelling at the ref to check him! Liger, though, would call on the fans for support and working his way back up, fighting his way out, only to have Hart grab him by the hair and slam him back down before dropping a knee on him and going for a cover, only getting a two count.
Hart would lock on a Half Boston Crab, wrenching Liger's leg and hopping on his back, yelling at him to just give it up! Liger would fight once more and get to the ropes. Hart would try to keep the pressure on, but Liger would kick him in the face to get some separation. Back up to his feet, Liger would deliver a Dropkick to send Hart down to the mat and then stumbling into the corner, where Liger would deliver a Running Palm Strike! Hart is dazed and Liger grabs him, putting him up top and then taking him down with a Frankensteiner as the fans cheer and chant! Liger goes for the cover, thinking he has it, but Hart kicks at two, but just barely!
Liger grabs Hart and goes for a whip, but Hart reverses it. Liger rebounds off the ropes and Hart jumps up, looking for a Huracanrana, but Liger sits out and delivers a Powerbomb! Liger holds the cover tight, but Hart manages to get out at two! Liger is trying not to waste any time, going for a Brainbuster, but Hart floats over it and then tries to jump onto Liger's shoulders from behind, maybe looking for a Victory Roll, but Liger slides out of it and ends up behind Hart. Liger grabs him and flips him over, bridging him to the mat with a roll-up pin! Hart is flailing but he can't seem to beat it, and Liger gets the pinfall!
Hart can't believe it, pounding his fists on the mat in a rage and Liger has rolled out of the ring and is celebrating with the fans at ringside, slapping all of their hands and posing! What an electric way to end the show and these Baltimore fans are going home happy tonight!
Winner by Pinfall: Jushin Liger
