AEW Dynamite
February 25, 2020
Live from Nashville, TN
After an impressive display of pyrotechnics, the cameras begin panning around the arena in Kansas City as the raucous AEW fans hold up various signs such as “MCINTYRE IS THICK” and “KILLER JAILBIRD.”
Our trusty commentators, Don Callis and Kevin Kelly, begin to run down the card for tonight’s festivities. Kelly mentions that we will hear from the new challenger for Daniel Bryan’s AEW World Title, Drew McIntyre! Callis mentions that this is the last stop until AEW Revolution and anything can happen, so let’s take it to the ring!
Match 1
v.
In a technical masterpiece, Marty Scurll and Nick Aldis fought brutally until the referee called for the double count out at 15:25. This match saw a variety of moves and mat-based grappling, as well as multiple submission holds and chain wrestling throughout the match. The crowd was behind Scurll for the duration of the match, while Aldis was drawing heavy heat from the audience. The crowd was disappointed at the outcome - however, it would not be surprising if a rematch would be coming down the road soon.
“TIME TO GET SLEAZY, BABY! Hey, do you guys know that there is NO ONE more...HARDCORE than Joey Ryan? When you sign onto the internet and you google ‘hardcore’ I’m the first thing that POPS UP! So to the other three wet noodles I gotta beat at Revolution to become the Hardcore champ, good luck! There’s no one more hardcore than me, Joey Ryannnn!”
And with that, Ryan pops his Blowpop back into the corner of his mouth and smiles as he always does.

Match 2

In an unexpectedly awesome match, Rich Swann defeated Alberto Del Rio at 12:47 via the Chicken Fried Driver. This match saw a ton of back and forth offense from both experienced competitors. The crowd was solely behind Swann the entire time. After a big roundhouse kick that stunned Del Rio, Swann was able to secure the win with his patented spinning suplex driver.
“In life, there are winners...and there are losers. Being from Ohio, we know that we are WINNERS. There is no tag team in this company that is more talented, that is more violent, than we are. At Revolution, we’re facing the GoD in a semi-finals tournament match for the tag titles. We hear you like warfare? That’s great. Because that’s exactly what you’re going to get this weekend, boys.”

“Greetings, All Elite Wrestling. You’ve not heard from me since my former family...the Kross Kult...left me for dead. I decided to retire from this business and I was retired up until earlier today. I received a message from a long lost friend. You see, I’ve always been the man to tame this monster. I’ve always been the man to grab the chain around his neck and pull it back, keeping him contained until he needed to become unleashed. I’ve been the only handler for this beast that has ever been able to control him. And now? Now’s the time! HE IS COMING! I had a wonderful discussion with Mr. Mark Henry who has been looking for wrestlers to compete in the inaugural Hardcore Title match at Revolution. And he loved my idea. Ladies and gentlemen, making his debut at AEW Revolution in the Hardcore Championship match...MY MONSTER...ABBBYYSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!”
The fans in the crowd cheer as Mitchell laughs in maniacal fashion! “The Monster” Abyss has been confirmed as the second entrant in the fatal four way AEW Hardcore Championship match at the Revolution pay-per-view!
Match 3
v.
After an impressive outing from Kris Statlander, Tessa Blanchard defeated her at 8:59 via the Hammerlock DDT. This match saw innovative offense from Statlander who truly is not of this world. Blanchard, being the more experienced of the two, was able to capitalize by hitting her big set-up moves and finishing out with the big DDT.
After the match, Dakota Kai appeared on the stage! With a mic in hand, she cut a promo letting Tessa know that in just a few short days, her ‘epic’ title reign was going to come to an end. Kai let Tessa know that she was not only going to defeat her, she was going to humiliate her.

“The Pope” Elijah Burke is in the ring with his National Championship around his waist. As his music dies down, he begins to speak.
“I am the greatest National Champion of all time! Now, the haters gonna say that there’s only been two National Champions. But what they don’t understand is that, it doesn’t matter HOW many champions there ends up being! NOBODY...and I mean nobody....will ever come close to being on the same level as your Pope.
Now, I’ve been itching for a fight. I’ve been wondering who’s gonna step up to the plate and make it known that they want a piece of the Pope. I asked last week, I said ‘who’s next?’ and nobody’s stepped up. I find that to be a damn disgrace!”
Just as Pope is about to begin his next sentence, we see a VERY familiar face on the big screen…
…….
………..
IT’S GOLDBERG! We haven't seen him in months since the vicious attack from Killer Kross! The fans in attendance go ABSOLUTELY WILD! Burke is literally quivering in the ring and takes a big gulp as sweat begins forming on his forehead.
“Hey Burke, you wanna know who’s next?”
Burke shakes his head and begins looking around, paranoid. He gulps again as Goldberg utters the famous words…
“YOU’RE NEXT!”
The roof becomes unglued as Burke throws his National title to the mat and begins stomping like a baby! The fans cheer and laugh as Goldberg smiles on the big screen. Burke begins to literally cry in the middle of the ring as we head to commercial.

Match 4
v.
In a fun but quick match, “The Machine” Brian Cage defeated Aron Stevens at 5:09 via the Drillclaw. Stevens attempted rolling out of the ring several times, but Cage was able to catch him both times and throw him back in. After more stalling tactics and little offense from Stevens, Cage hit the Drillclaw for the decisive victory.
“Drew McIntyre is a man that I respect. He’s got the heart, the passion, the determination to go far in this business. He’s made some questionable choices in the past but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that he’s here, he seems to have made a change of heart, and he’s hungry. Arn Anderson is a legend in this business and if Arn thinks this is a good idea, then I’m not going to question it. The fact is that I’ve been sitting on my rear end for too long watching people tear it up here in AEW while I’ve been waiting for someone to step up. McIntyre stepped up. He wanted a shot at this belt, and he got it. Ask, and you shall receive. See you at Revolution, Drew. I look forward to it.”
Match 5
v.
In a fantastic match, Drew McIntyre defeated Chris Benoit via the Claymore Kick at 13:58 with Arn Anderson at ringside in support of the #1 Contender. While Benoit attempted to keep the bigger opponent grounded, McIntyre was able to execute several crucial power moves that were effective in wearing down Benoit. The finish of the match saw Benoit connect with a diving headbutt. Upon attempting the Crossface, McIntyre was able to roll Benoit to the side. As both men stood to their feet, McIntyre charged at Benoit with his most lethal weapon - The Claymore Kick - for an impressive victory heading into the AEW Revolution main event for the AEW World Championship against Daniel Bryan.
"Daniel Bryan, let me start by saying that I kinda...sorta...respect you. But all respect will be set aside at AEW Revolution. We have a similar background, Daniel. We've both worked our asses off to get here. But there's a big difference, too. You see, I haven't been one to pander to the crowd, to these people! I've never 'gotten over' by dancing around, trying to be funny or cool! I don't need a damn catchphrase, Daniel! All I need are my FISTS. You're a fighting champion, and THAT is why I respect you. Otherwise, Daniel, you're no different than anyone in this crowd - mediocre. In a sea of entitled ingrates, you've earned your keep despite your pandering to these people. But be prepared to be knocked off your pedestal at Revolution! I cannot wait to Claymore Kick you right in the mouth. Hope you're not planning on kissing your baby anytime soon, Danny Boy. Get ready to explain why daddy is such a loser."
And with that, McIntyre throws the mic down as Arn Anderson comes in the ring and holds up the hand of McIntyre. The fans boo as Drew smirks, motioning around his waist.
