TAG TEAM MATCH
Christian York & Joey Matthews vs. "The Dudebusters": Trent Barreta & Chris Cage
York and Matthews have been looking for a win here in ICW to solidify themselves in the ranks of the tag team division. The Dudebusters were making their debuts here, and it was clear they were a solid stylistic match for the Virginians, but they just didn't seem to have the drive or heart that York & Matthews brought to the contest. The Dudebusters were far too cocky and got caught sleeping a number of times by the crafty and well traveled young veterans, and in the end, York would lift up Cage over his shoulder and Matthews would plow him into the mat with a DDT, knocking him out cold for the three count.
SINGLES MATCH
Sara Del Rey vs. Cindy Rogers
I think the fans were surprised here, as neither of these ladies showed any interest in playing on their feminism or tried to water down the action. Instead, what we saw were two great ring technicians doing battle for a solid and engaging 10 minute encounter, which saw Rogers really viciously trying to take out the self proclaimed "Queen of Wrestling". Rogers has a very Bret Hart influenced attack, and has a lot of his early attitude, and it made it very compelling as the strong and determined Del Rey continually tried to battle back, only to be cut off by the "Definition of Technician". Eventually, Rogers would go to the well one too many times, trying for the same Choke Slam that had failed her earlier in the night and getting caught in the LeBell Lock for her troubles! Too worn to fight it, the Connecticut native had to tap to the mat prowess displayed by the "Queen" on this night. Del Rey looks strong going into her big encounter in Manhattan with Cheerleader Melissa, and now the fans are looking forward to it as well!
SINGLES MATCH
Michael Elgin vs. Ace Darling
Ace is a long time veteran of the Northeast and East Coast independent scenes, but tonight, he met a huge roadblock by the name of the "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin! Elgin would manage to withstand some so-so mat grappling early from Darling and unleash a brutal Spinning Backfist, followed by a Bridging German Suplex for a two count. Darling would try to escape the Canadian's wrath, only to get caught on the apron and then brought back in with a Stalling Superplex that seemed to last an eternity! Relatively, I should say, as the match itself wasn't long and Darling didn't last long after that Superplex, falling prey to the Revolution Elgin Bomb soon after and giving Elgin a big win as he stares down the barrel at a match with Roderick Strong on the 25th in Manhattan.
After the match, Elgin gets on the microphone and says the wrestling world is on notice, and he will not be denied! He says Roderick Strong may think he hits hard, but on the 25th, he gets knocked the fuck out by the new dominant force in professional wrestling, Michael Elgin!
TAG TEAM MATCH
BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs vs. "Pure Dynamite": Josh Daniels & John Walters
Two Northeast die-hards in Daniels and Walters, from New York and Massachusetts respectively, came into this match with a sound strategy, but it wasn't wholly successful. Daniels and Walters seemed to be fairly clean cut, but they sensed a chance to steal one here and once they heard opportunity knocking, as Whitmer and Jacobs turned their backs on them right before the opening bell, Pure Dynamite made their way across the ring in a proverbial flash. Pure Dynamite would send Whitmer and Jacobs to the outside and tanned their hides for about a minute, until Whitmer and Jacobs managed to shake off the cobwebs, then things got kind of ugly. Whitmer would manage to catch Walters charging, side stepping him and letting him eat turnpost as Jacobs would manage to reverse a rear waistlock with a drop toe hold right into the guard railing! From there, these two teams would brawl through the crowd before Walters managed to take back control, kicking Whitmer as he tried to attack him with a chair and subsequently blasting him to the back with said chair, sending him under the ropes after the damage was done and attempting a cover, but only a two count. Twists and turns would ensue, as this match never really resembled a tag team match, or even a wrestling match, for that matter. Near the end the tables would take one final turn, as Whitmer would manage to avoid a Flying Headbutt from Daniels as Jacobs flew to the outside, taking down Walters with a Suicide Dive. Whitmer would manage to grab Daniels from behind as he clutched his now aching head, cradling him and taking him over with a Bridging Regal Plex to brutal effect, and it was over! Whitmer and Jacobs got a big pinfall victory here, but the real test will come for them on the 25th as they face the world renowned tandem of reDRagon in what is sure to be a barn burner!
After the match, Jacobs gets on the microphone and says that reDRagon thinks they are fierce, and they try to beat people mentally before they ever make it to the ring, but Jacobs says you can't play mind games with a team that's completely lost their minds! He says he and Whitmer have been overlooked and forgotten for years as their contemporaries have gone on to great success and accolades, and they just can't take it anymore! They will not be denied, and they will do anything it takes to end the night with their hands raised, even if in the next moment they pronounced dead, but either way, reDRagon is going down with them! Jacobs and Whitmer both look to be on the fringe of sanity now, as they seem completely driven, and with this wild and brutal win tonight, it's clear they are giving reDRagon a lot to think about in the coming weeks.
SINGLES MATCH
Mike Quackenbush vs. Colt Cabana
Two well traveled and well versed guys did "battle" here, but it really wasn't the intense affair that we've come to expect here in ICW, and certainly nothing like the rest of the matches thus far on this show. Quackenbush and Cabana showed a great gamesmanship throughout, and seemed to really enjoy the process of ribbing each other and poking fun at one another, making the crowd laugh as they performed small jokes or got a rise out of one another, making for a genuinely entertaining affair. More entertaining than the antics though was the sheer knowledge of technical wrestling here, as these two went to town on the mat, showing off a catch-as-catch-can style that you're not likely to see implemented anywhere else in wrestling today. Cabana would manage to get away with the win on this night, using his size and strength to overtake "Lightning" Mike with a Tilt-to-Whirl Backbreaker, going into his Chicago Crab for the second time of the match directly after, forcing Quack to tap. Both men would share a handshake shortly after, and the fans gave them a warm and pleasant ovation afterwards, appreciating this showcase for what is was.
TAG TEAM MATCH
"The Pitbulls": Kid Kash & Jamie Noble vs. Al Snow & Nova
The Pitbulls may be in the category of the "diminutive" when it comes to size, but they are as fierce and dangerous as any team wrestling today. Snow and Nova are amongst the most respected and talented in any locker room out there, but it was clear Kash and Noble were on another level when it came to intensity and crispness. Snow and Nova would play very sympathetic faces here, and would manage to keep the fans engaged as it seemed like the improbable may happen a precious few times, and Snow and Nova might pull it off, but they just never seemed to be able to keep their traction throughout. Noble and Kash would manage to deliver a Double Powerbomb to Nova, leading to Noble leaping out onto Snow on the outside and Kash coming off the top with a high impact Moonsault, and that was the end of things. The Pitbulls look about as impressive as any team in the division with this victory tonight.
SINGLES MATCH
Brian Kendrick vs. Reckless Youth
These two possess many similar qualities to what we saw from Quackenbush and Cabana earlier, but they did not play up the good nature nearly to their extent. Instead, things got pretty heated after some early good sportsmanship after Youth blasted "Spanky" with an elbow to the mouth, and then really started to go to work on him on the mat. Kendrick would show his ability to hang on the mat, but Youth really seemed to be a step ahead and willing to do anything to get the edge, eventually taking things to the outside and attacking his left arm viciously. Youth would send "Spanky" shoulder first into the turnpost and then tried to snap his arm in half on the guard rail, mocking him as he did so. Kendrick would eventually take back control in the ring, dodging an on coming Youth in the corner and then hitting a Springboard Dropkick, mocking him right back and getting big support from the crowd! Youth would manage to hit a Mule Kick on Kendrick, getting huge boos from the crowd as he went on to hit a Cross Arm Implant DDT, but he only got a two to the surprise of everyone! Youth called for the end, brashly heading up top and attempting a Frog Splash, only to land on Kendrick's knees! Kendrick would rush up, executing a Hammerlock into a Roll-Up pin, and Youth couldn't escape! Kendrick gets the flash pin there, and these fans were on their feet from excitement! Great match from both men here, and Kendrick is now hoping to carry that momentum over to his match in Manhattan as he faces the very talented and unpredictable Delirious on the 25th!
SINGLES MATCH
Gregory Helms vs. John Morrison
John Morrison may have an attitude and an air of cockiness to him, but he's definitely more likable than Gregory Helms, who doesn't care about anyone or anything except hurting people! Morrison would manage to show up Helms a couple of times early in this match, getting the North Carolina native irate, but this proved not to be a very sound strategy. Helms would eventually avoid a Springboard Roundhouse Kick from Morrison, and sent a huge kick into his head, nearly knocking him out there! Helms would then viciously ground and pound Morrison, putting on a wrestling clinic and it looked like Morrison wouldn't be able to answer back. Helms would eventually call for the end, locking on a High Angle Armbar, but Morrison would fight through and get his foot on the ropes. Helms would hold on for every second of the five count and then got back into predator mode, stalking Morrison and attempting a Shining Wizard, only to have it ducked! Morrison would then execute his Capoeira Hook Kick, and went for the cover, but Helms managed to kick out at two! Morrison would then stalk Helms and hit a Belly-to-Back Wheelbarrow Facebuster, and then called for the end! It looked likely as he went towards the buckles, attempting to deliver his Starship Pain, only to have Helms avoid it! Morrison eats nothing but mat! Helms pulls himself up in the corner, yelling out as Morrison is on his knees, and Helms rushes, blasting him with a SICK Knee to the Face! Helms makes the cover, and Morrison is out cold! Gregory Helms gets the win, and he looked good doing it!
SINGLES MATCH
Homicide vs. Jerry Lynn
Jerry Lynn is fresh off losing his contract with the WWE here, and he makes his return to ICW against the man set to headline the Manhattan show on the 25th, "The Notorious 187" Homicide! Lynn is loved here, and he shows some great technical skill early as he goads the Brooklynite into a mat wrestling battle, but Homicide catches Lynn with a thumb to the eye after sorely losing one exchange, and the entire complexion of this match changes from there. Homicide is vicious from here, pummeling Lynn and even pulling a fork from his shorts at one point, bludgeoning Lynn to the point of bleeding, causing the fans great distress! Lynn would manage to show the heart we've all come to know him for, as he reversed Da Cop Killa, dropkicking Homicide to the back and sending him face first into the buckles, following up with a Bridging German Suplex for a two count! Homicide is reeling as Lynn, wearing the crimson mask, kicks him and goes looking for the Cradle Piledriver, only to have Homicide block it and deliver a low blow! Lynn is hurting and Homicide picks him up, trying to go for Da Cop Killa again, but Lynn over rotates it, reversing into a Small Package for a two count! Homicide is back, furious, as Lynn continues to try to gain his bearings. Homicide sizes him up and attempts a Lariat, but Lynn ducks it, reversing and he attempts a Swinging DDT, connecting off the buckles and going for the cover, but Homicide kicks out! Lynn, maybe from all the head trauma and blood loss, gets the idea to go up top and it wasn't a great one, as Homicide manages to get up and block him on the top rope, catching him and delivering a Super Ace Crusher! The match seems to be over, as Homicide hooks the near leg, but NO! Lynn gets his foot on the ropes! Homicide can't believe it, but knows he has to finish it. Homicide tries to do just that, yanking up Lynn by his blonde locks and looking to turn him over and finally hit Da Cop Killa, only to have Lynn reverse it again, kicking Homicide and once again attempting the Cradle Piledriver, but Homicide manages to block it and then lifts up Lynn, hanging on and then taking him over with a Double Leg Slam! Lynn's head bounces off the mat, and Homicide falls into the ropes, looking exhausted, but determined. Homicide waits it out and Lynn pulls himself up, calling for more. Homicide rushes over and delivers a Yakuza Kick, snapping Lynn's head back as he lands against the ropes, and then Homicide grabs him up quickly and this time gets him up... COP KILLA, DANGEROOOUUUSSS! Homicide lays back, completely exerted, but it doesn't matter how lackadaisical the pin attempt was, as this match was over. Homicide wins, and Austin Aries has to be concerned now, as he looked damn good here going into their match on the 25th.
