Earlier in the week:
After a night out on the town - and not just any town, but Las Vegas - the Rock and Roll Express have returned to their hotel. Robert Gibson waved good-night/good morning to his longtime tag partner, and closed the door to his room. As Ricky Morton slid the electronic key into his door, he was jumped from behind. Fists and feet continued to find their mark on the multi-time NWA tag champion, as his much larger assailant screamed at him, "You're the best ever at playing Ricky Morton!"
The onslaught continued for several seconds, with the Rock and Roller unable to defend himself or even stand. As he lay bloodied and dazed on the floor, the near-300-pound attacker slowly walked away, and said, "Get out of Global Impact now if you know what's good for you."

Backstage notes after Warzone.
- Mike Bennett was told by Eric Bischoff that he is going to be put in the Global Championship Tournament after his win against Damien Sandow. His match will take place on next Wednesday's Warzone.
- Kenny Omega was outraged over the way his match ended against Adam Cole. Bischoff would not give Omega a rematch but he did add him to the Global Championship Tournament. He will be Mike Bennett's opponent for round one.
- We know that the New Day will take on Rusev Day for the second spot in the 3 team ladder match at GWA Mania but the last qualifier has not been announced yet. Expect that match to be announced next week.
- The last announced match for round 1 of the tournament for the Global Championship puts Okada against Goldust. Goldust is excited for this opportunity and looks to make the best of it
- Adam Cole was said to be a little bit unpleased that he is the only one who had to earn his spot in the main event at GWA Mania. Expect him to bring this up at Warzone on Wednesday.

Jeff Jarrett, sitting at his desk: What do you think? A straight-up tag-team promotion. GIW is going to restore the glory and prestige back to being a tag wrestler. Two sets of titles, World and Intercontinental, and we're gonna - Bully Ray Dudley: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And THIS is the part where I interrupt and say, "The Dudley Boyz are the best team in the world, and you should just give us the World straps right now." Jarrett:I know it is, but seriously, man, that's just so cliche. D'Von Dudley: Say what? Jarrett: Never mind. But that's not the way it works in Global Impact. You're gonna have to earn it, just like everybody else. However, as luck would have it, you ARE going to be in the GIW World Tag-Team tournament, starting soon. Eight teams, one winner. Same as on the Intercontinental side. Bully Ray: Oh yeah? Well, at least you got us in the right one. Jarrett: Don't thank me, thank random.org. Jarrett, continuing: Now those aren't the brackets. I'll figure that out later. But the first eight teams are in the World tournament, and the bottom eight teams are in the Intercontinental tournament. Fair is fair, right? D'Von (scans the list): We'll see about that. Coulda saved those other teams a lot of hurt by just giving us the titles. Jarrett: Hey, this is the hurtin' business. Now get on out of here, I gotta find us some arenas to work in.

The scene: Jeff Jarrett's office. Lance Russell enters.
Russell: You wanted to see me, Jeff?
Jarrett: I sure did. Great news. You're finally gonna be doing what you were brought here to do. Hell, what you were BORN to do! I just bought Bill Watts' television rights package.
Russell: Seems like something you should have figured out a while ago.
Jarrett: Oh, now, don't you worry about anything, Lance. Everything is under control. Now, what do you think... do I stick with GIW Friday Night's Main Event?

The scene - Reno, Las Vegas. Edge and Christian are enjoying a night off. The popular duo have just paid their bill at a well-known chain restaurant, and step outside.
Christian: I hear Jarrett has an arena deal done. No ridiculous travel schedule, same venue every Friday night for TV, and guess where it is.
Edge: Nashville? Orlando? Maple Leaf Gardens? Come on, man, don't believe everything you hear.
Christian: You're a bitter old man. No, I heard it's gonna be-
Before he can finish his sentence, he is cut off by a young band of autograph seekers on the street.
Edge: Tell you what, guys. You... yes, you deserve a five-second pose.
As the Canadians mugged it up, there was an explosion a couple of blocks down the street. Luckily, no one was nearby, and no one was hurt.
Edge: That was our car! Why, if we hadn't stopped to pose, we would have been-
Christian: Nah, not likely. Heck, Vince shook one of those off like it was nothing a few years ago, remember?
Edge: I suppose. But still, that seems like a pretty extreme thing to do. Back in the day, they'd just slam your hand in the car door, or at worst hit you doing ten kilometers an hour.
Christian: So... does our insurance cover that?
