WCW Thursday Thunder episode 54 for 02.08.24
Taped from the Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Ring Announcer: Gary Michael Cappetta
Interviewer: SoCal Val
Referees: Tommy Young, Joey Marella and Charles Robinson
Magnum TA defeated Mando Guerrero by pinfall via belly to belly suplex at 34 seconds. Commentary mentions how Magnum has been having a hard time putting opponents away and how Mando got a rare win a few weeks ago against Magnum by disqualification. Referee Charles Robinson checks Magnum before the bell and finds a pair of brass knuckles in his tights. While he’s disposing of them, Magnum kicks Mando hard in the crotch. Robinson turns back around to find Magnum beating on Mando, thinking he just got a jumpstart on the match. Magnum scores a big backdrop off the ropes and then hits his finisher.

“The Man With the Hands of Stone” Ronnie Garvin cuts a pre-taped promo on One Man Gang. “On Nitro, you might have splashed my ankle after I took the ankle lock from Kurt Angle. And you might have damaged my eye with Paul Jones’ cane before that. You say, Gang, you’re going to take me out one piece at a time. There’s one piece of me you can never take out and that’s this right hand, right here. I’ve got the power of the punch, I’m the Man With the Hands of Stone, and with one eye and one leg I can still knock you out and leave you wondering what happened.”

Shane McMahon makes an announcement via a pre-tape. Destination Dallas III is becoming so big with so many marquee matches that it’s going to two days Feb. 25 and 26 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. There won’t be a Saturday Night’s Special, but there will be a free pre-show each night on Tubi featuring one match, a concert, and a panel discussing each night’s card. Night one will be hosted by WCW friend and sponsor J.R. Ewing with a concert by Dolly Parton. Night two will be hosted by Dallas Cowboys legend Deion Sanders with a concert by ZZ Top. There also won’t be a Nitro since night two is on Monday and Thunder later in the week will be a recap of the two night event.
(Leo’s Note: Originally I was going Saturday and Sunday, but AEW has a Saturday show, so I didn’t want to double book.)

Jade Cargill cuts a promo on Charlotte Flair via pre-tape. “Charlotte Flair has talked about learning from her losses. Well, you don’t need to learn from your losses if you never lose like me. I’m 39-0 right now. I’ll be 40-0 after AEW Revolution in Houston on Feb. 24 and I’ll be 41-0 after Destination Dallas III. It doesn’t matter if I go on night one or night two. I could walk from Houston to Dallas, get mauled by coyotes and still beat Charlotte Flair without breaking a sweat. Because I am that bitch.”

“Number One” Paul Jones with One Man Gang cut a pre-taped promo on “The Man with the Hands of Stone” Ronnie Garvin. “Ronnie Garvin, you said you don’t need any eyes or any legs to defeat the One Man Gang. All you need is your fist. Well, the One Man Gang punches harder than you are ugly. You’re not the only wrestler in WCW with the Power of the Punch. Whether it’s a slugfest, a wrestling match or a street fight, the One Man Gang will continue to dismantle you one piece at a time until there is nothing left of Ronnie Garvin in WCW but a lousy memory.”
