From the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
Friday, July 28, 2023
Promoter: Conrad Thompson
Executive Director: Bruce Prichard
Broadcast Announce Team: Jack Buck & Renee Paquette
Backstage Interviewer: Kayla Braxton
Ring Announcer: Marc Lowrance
We start the show with Marc Lowrance in the middle of the ring, welcoming the crowd to WCCW Texas Heat and then immediately introducing the first match of the night.
Andrade Cien Almas vs One Man Gang
Jack Buck and Renee Paquette say hello as the match gets underway. Gang overpowers Andrade as much as he can, while Almas uses a stick and move type of offense to get Gang down to on knee. Andrade dodges a charging Gang, then hits the ropes for the running double knees in the corner. He rolls Gang over and covers him for a 2 count. Almas delivers a DDT, and then goes up top for a cross body. Gang catches him and drives him into the mat with a powerslam. OMG hits a couple of clotheslines, a corner avalanche, and then the 747 splash form the middle turnbuckle to get the 1...2...3.
Your Winner, via Pinfall [6:23] The One Man Gang!
Jack is impressed by the physicality displayed by the One Man Gang. Renee notes that Almas is a seasoned veteran, but tonight just wasn't his night.
Lowrance introduces the World Class Executive Director Bruce Prichard. Prichard comes to the ring carrying two title belts, one slung over each of his shoulders. As he comes down the ramp, Gang is walking to the back. He stops Bruce and stares at the titles, then motions that he wants a championship.
Prichard gets in the ring and takes the microphone. He talks about the rich history of professional wrestling in Texas during the territory days. He notes that WCCW is continuing to honor a couple of the legendary promotions with the Western States and Southwest Championships. He continues that as previously announced, Pac and Mustafa Ali will resume their reigns with the respective titles they had won just before the shutdown in January. He then calls both men to the ring.
Mustafa Ali is out first and graciously accepts the Western States Title. He says that he is looking forward to defending his title against the top competition in World Class.
Pac hits the ring right afterwards, snatches the Southwest title belt from Prichard's hands, then gets on the mic and berates Bruce about yet again having to defend his title tonight while Ali gets the night off. This is not the first time this has happened here in World Class, and he's had it with people coddling Ali and demands they be treated equally.
Ali interjects, saying he will face anyone, anywhere, anytime. He doesn’t book the matches, so he has no control over who he faces and when.
Bruce looks thoughtful for a moment, and then admits that Pac has a point. He makes Pac a conciliatory offer – defend the title successfully tonight against Kenta, and Prichard will let Pac name Ali’s next challenger for the Western States Title in College Station on August 25th at Texas Forever.
Pac laughs maniacally, while Ali steps up and says he accepts, and he will beat anyone Pac can think of, even his Death Triangle brothers. Ali vs Fenix? Sounds great to Ali. Ali vs. Pentagon? Bring it on.
Pac laughs again and say although he would enjoy watching one of his mates tear Mustafa limb from limb, they have bigger fish to fry. Specifically, the Lucha Brothers will be winning the World Class Tag Team Titles.
But, Pac does have someone in mind. Bruce says great, and asks who it is going to be. Pac stares daggers at the Executive Director and tells him he will let him know.
Ali reminds Bruce - anyone, anywhere, anytime, as he exits the ring.
Jack and Renee talk about what we just heard as the ring gets cleared. Marc then makes the introductions for our next match.
Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs Aussie Open – Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher
Davis and Fletcher get out to a fast start, using their creative tandem offense and keeping Owens at bay on the outside. After only a few minutes, Sami is on all fours crawling to his corner, desperate to tag out. He gets dragged back and worked over some more, until Owens can’t take it and barrels in, levelling both Aussies repeatedly and drawing the ire of the official. He orders Owens out and we get a reset.
After another long sequence, Sami finally ducks a double clothesline and somersaults over for a tag. Owens comes in again to level everyone and clear the ring. Owens catches Fletcher with a pop up powerbomb, then stuns Davis, the legal man. Sami tags himself back in, and a Helluva Kick and 3 counts later, the bell rings.
Your Winners, via Pinfall [9:46] Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn!
The crowd pops as Jack and Renee talk about the stiff competition that we will be seeing in the tag team division, and Owens & Zayn will be right in the thick of that. Renee sends us to the backstage area, where Kayla Braxton is standing by.
Kayla welcomes “Hangman” Adam Page. The Anxious Millennial Cowboy says he is thrilled to be here in Texas, and he knows the fans here in Texas are anxious to finally see a 'real' cowboy in action. He claims to be the only true cowboy in the arena tonight, not like these dime store types he sees in the crowd. He is here to do some Cowboy Shit and win the Texas Heavyweight Title. Page the faces the camera, telling Bruce to put him in the Texas Heavyweight Title Fatal Four Way Match coming up at Texas Forever on August 25th.
Kayla sends us back to Renee and Jack, who talk about the upcoming Texas Forever show, and the Texas Title Fatal Four Way match, mentioning Seth Rollins being automatically qualified, along with the winner of the Tanahashi vs. Okada match later tonight. Marc Lowrance steps between the ropes and introduces the next match.
Adam Cole vs “Alwayz Ready” Matt Cardona
We get an extended series of chain wrestling, as neither man can take charge of the early portions of the match. Both work the match fairly clean, although Matt does grab a little hair during a headlock takeover, and Cole grabs the ropes for some leverage during a roll-up that gets a 2 count.
Cole connects with the Last Shot and sets up for the Panama Sunrise, Cardona catches Cole and Alabama Slams him to the canvas. Cardona connects with a running knee strike and then the Radio Silence leg lariat. He covers for 1…2….3, Cole rolls his shoulder just a hair too late.
Your Winner, via Pinfall [7:13] “Alwayz Ready” Matt Cardona!
Cole protests, but to no avail. Jack and Renee comment on the high level of technical wrestling in that match, and then note that the next one will likely be a much different affair. We go straight to Marc for the introductions.
“Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii vs “Limitless” Keith Lee
The native Texan, Lee, gets a huge ovation here. The men exchange power displays, with shoulder blocks and clotheslines aplenty. The big men even mix in a couple of shocking leapfrogs to the crowd's delight. They start trading strikes and chops, with neither man showing any weakness. Dueling clotheslines fail to take anyone off their feet, and the crowd is eating it up. Both men's chest are red, blistered, and bleeding soon enough.
Ishii rocks Keith with a headbutt, then charges at him. Lee catches him and both men tumble through the ropes. The fight continues on the floor, and they continue to one-up each other with every blow to the body, head to the apron, or whip into the barricades. The official starts his count but is flatly ignored. The crowd boos louder with every number and fills the arena in jeers as the official reaches 10.
Official Decision [8:02] Double Countout.
The bell ringing goes unnoticed by Lee and Ishii. They continue to fight their way around ringside, and into the crowd, who are encouraging them with a “Fight Forever” chant. Officials and security staffers swarm the area to protect the fans and pull the combatants apart.
Renee gushes about the two Big Meaty Men Bumping Meat, and that she wouldn’t mind seeing a lot more of that. Jack is sure we will, and then sends us backstage to Kayla.
Kayla is standing with Bruce Prichard. Bruce is blown away by the level of competition we are seeing in that ring tonight, and can’t wait for the next World Class event on August 11, the re-debut of Lone Star Live coming from San Marcos, Texas.
They are interrupted by the sudden appearance of The Yellow Rose, David Von Erich, looking worse for wear in a dingy western shirt and jeans. He heard the pompous words of Hangman Page earlier and is angry. He just came in from working on his ranch. David intends to win the Texas Heavyweight Title, He points out that a real cowboy doesn’t have butterflies or sequins on the butt of his three hundred dollar designer jeans. No, a real cowboy works his ass off like he does day in and day out, A real cowboy has blood and sweat smeared on his off the rack denim. David points the camera to the leg of his pants, where several dark streaks and stains are visible.
David think the Anxious Millennial Cowboy is full of Cowboy Shit and if he has any balls in those pretty bedazzled britches, Page will face The Yellow Rose of Texas in San Marcos on the 11th.
Bruce thinks that sounds like a great idea and books the match for Lone Star Live. David likes this very much, and Kayla throws us back to Rene.
Jack and Renee are discussing the match that was just made when Conrad Thompson joins Renee and Jack at the announce desk, saying he couldn’t turn down the chance at a front-row seat to see these next two masters in action. Jack points out that Okada has an 8-6-2 edge in their singles matches. Renee is already on the edge of her seat as Marc Lowrance starts the intros.
“Ace” Hiroshi Tanahashi vs “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada
A recap could never do this type of match justice. The Frisco crowd was treated to your standard strong-style classic, with tons of hard-hitting action, near falls, and high spots. As we approach the half-hour mark, Okada hit Tanahashi with the slingblade, and followed up with a tombstone. The Rainmaker goes up top for the High Fly Flow, but The Ace is to his feet and knocks Okada to the mat with a kick. Renee points out the men are using each other's signature moves on one another. Tanahashi goes for the Rainmaker, but Okada ducks the clothesline. He connects with a Rainmaker of his own for the 1…2…3.
Your Winner, via Pinfall [28:07] “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada
Both men are flat on their backs as the crowd gives them a standing ovation. Medical staff make their way down to check on both men. Conrad and Renee are gushing about the significance of this encounter. Buck revels in the athleticism and skills on display. The TV audience gets a number of replays and highlights as the men are helped to the back.
We cut backstage to see Pac approach the Aussie Empire – Bronson Reed, Mark Davis, & Kyle Fletcher. He marches right up to Reed, gets in his face, and offers him the title match against Mustafa Ali at Texas Forever. Reed says he will not be Pac’s errand boy, and that since the Lucha Brothers aren’t here in Frisco tonight, Pac better watch his mouth, or The Aussie Empire will conquer his ass right here and now. Pac shrugs off the threat and says he thought Bronson would jump at the chance to bring some gold back to the Aussie Empire, but if he doesn’t want it, there are dozens of other men in the company who would gladly take his place. Reed grabs Pac by the shirt and tells him that not only he will take the match, he plans on taking the Western States Title from Mustafa Ali. Once he does that, Reed states he will be coming for Pac’s Southwest Title as well. Aussie Empire laughs it up and leaves, and Pac smirks as he marches towards the ring.
“Bastard” Pac ( C ) vs Kenta – Southwest Heavyweight Championship Match
Kenta connects with some kicks and knee strikes in the early going to keep Pac grounded. The Brit battles back with a Hot Shot across the top rope and a couple of dropkicks. He sets Kenta up for the Brutalizer, but is too close to the ropes. Kenta powders out, and Pac takes to the air, only to be met by a kick to the face. Kenta rolls him back in and connects with a Shotgun Kick for 2. Pac blocks another kick and Dragon Screw Leg Whips Kenta into the ropes. Pac pounces, stomping the proverbial mudhole in his challenger. Pac with a Falcon Arrow, then climbs the corner for the Black Arrow. Kenta scrambles to safety, and Pac jumps down to continue the assault. He knees Kenta in the face repeatedly, then drags him to the middle for the Brutalizer. Kenta fights valiantly for a while, but eventually succumbs to the move and submits.
Your Winner, Submission [14:32], and STILL Southwest Champions, Pac!
Jack Buck marvels in the intensity that Pac had throughout the match. Kenta is one of the best, but just wasn’t up to the challenge here tonight.
Bruce and Conrad are now up in an executive box, looking down at the massive crowd. They announce David Von Erich vs. Hangman Page is not only official for Lone Star Live, but the winner will earn a spot in the Texas Heavyweight Title Fatal Four Way at Texas Forever. They then announce that also at Lone Star Live, there will be an Open Invitation Battle Royal for the fourth and final slot in the Texas Heavyweight Title Fatal Four Way Match. Seth Rollins has a spot, as does Kazuchika Okada. The winner of Von Erich vs. Page gets the third. The fourth entry is open to any member of not only the World Class Roster, but the entire UWA! All anyone have to do is be in the ring when the bell sounds on August 11th, and they are eligible to win. The ring may well be bursting at the seams that night!
We come back to Jack and Rene, who discuss the ramifications of what we just heard. They start thinking about all the stars across the UWA that might be on their way for that match but are interrupted by Marc Lowrance beginning to introduce the main event.
FTR – Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler ( C ) vs Motor City Machine Guns – Alex Shelly & Chris Sabin – Universal Wrestling Alliance Tag Team Championship Match
The crowd is treated to fifteen minutes of classic tag team action, with both teams showing off their tandem offense and specialty move sets. Things become chaotic near the end and both team go for the win with numerous false finishes. Dax manages to catch Shelly diving off the turnbuckles, and holds him in place, letting Wheeler come in and the connect with the Shatter Machine to end the match
Your Winners, Pinfall [17:10], and STILL UWA Tag Team Champions, FTR!
Dax and Cash celebrate their win and offer the MCMG a handshake of respect afterwards. The crowd is eating it up and starts a "Thank You" chant for the Guns. As the fallen duo exits the ring, the house lights go out! An eerie, warbly voice cut through the oohs and aahs of the live audience.
“Oooooooh Yaaaasssssss”
There is a flash of light in the air and a clap of thunder, then the house lights come on. The Brothers of Destruction are in the ring! Kane grabs Wheeler by the throat, and Undertaker does the same with Harwood. They deliver stereo Chokeslams! Kane raises his arms high, then drops them and flames sprout from the ring posts! Taker poses on one knee while Paul Bearer is on the stage holding the urn up high. The funeral march music plays in the arena. The broadcast fades to black.
