Just before this week’s episode of Something to Wrestle, we get a video clip from Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson.
Conrad: Thank you for joining us today, You know, the reception Bruce and I have gotten from the fans about our World Class reboot has been amazing. We truly appreciate the feedback, both good and bad.
Bruce: As the dirt sheets are reporting, we’ve been busy working on our roster, adding talent wherever we can. Great names like Bronson Reed and Apollo Crews are making their way to Texas as we speak.
Conrad: One of the things we’ve decided to do is to stick as close to Paul Boesch’s original plan as possible. Now, obviously, we aren’t going to be able to do everything just like he had, but we can do our dead level best.
Bruce: Last year, WCCW established a handful of singles championships, including our top prize, the World Class Heavyweight Championship.
Conrad: Two of those champions were crowned late enough in the run that they did not make more than a handful of appearances as a champion before the hiatus occurred. With both men now back in the fold, we have decided that there is no need to re-invent the wheel here. Once the first show resumes, both PAC and Mustafa Ali will resume their reigns as Southwest and Western States Champions.
Bruce: On the first WCCW show, Seth Freakin’ Rollins took home the Texas Heavyweight Championship in an exciting four-way battle. Seth went on to lose that title to Curt Hennig. But, since Seth is once again part of WCCW, while Hennig is enjoying success elsewhere in the UWA, we felt it would be fair to put Seth in the running to reclaim his belt. Seth will be part of yet another four-way match to name a new Texas champion.
Conrad: Of course, when the shut down took place, we were in the midst of a tournament that was going to end with the crowning of both the World Class and Texas tag team champions. Those belts will remain vacant for the time being, as we re-rack the tournament and decide the best way to move forward.
Much the same will be true in regard to the top belt in our promotion, the World Class Heavyweight Title. The top belt was the prize in an epic Best of Seven Series between Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair. Just like with Curt, both these men are currently in different territories making waves, so the title is officially vacant, and we will be working on how we want to crown our new World Class Heavyweight Champion.
Bruce: We’re still wheeling and dealing behind the scenes, working to firm up details for the first show and adding the best possible wrestlers in the world to our company.
Conrad: I know fans are eager to see these details come to fruition, but we do ask for some patience, as both Brice and I have commitments to fulfill outside of World Class before we dive head-first into running a territory.
Bruce: Now, on with the show.
