NWA Championship Wrestling taped Tuesday, June 6th and broadcasted on Saturday, June 10th at 10 AM on ESPN.
The show kicks off with highlights of the National Wrestling Alliance Champions in action before going to the desk and Gordon Solie. Solie briefly discusses today's show and reminds the viewers that the next pay-per-view broadcast, Beach Party Beatdown, is scheduled for Saturday, June 24th, from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Solie then sends the show to the ring for the first match of the day.
1. “Cowboy” Bill Watts vs. “Big” John Studd
… Watts unloads with another right hand and Studd staggers back into the corner. Watts is unable to follow though as Ole Anderson connects with a clubbing blow to his upper back. Watts turns in time to get doubled over by a kick to the gut and then finds himself flat on the canvas after a knee lift. The referee calls for the bell as Gene Anderson joins the melee and begins putting the boots to Watts alongside Ole. Watts is taking a hell of a beating as Solie explains that the match has been ruled a disqualification due to the interference of the Andersons. The studio crowd erupts as “Chief” Wahoo McDaniel comes barreling to the ring and under the bottom rope. Ole and Gene quickly get out the ring just before McDaniel can get to either of them. McDaniel then checks on Watts as Ole and Gene gloat over their successful attack and Solie sends the show to its first commercial break.
Solie welcomes Gary Hart and a hooded man to the desk and Solie quickly asks about the Great Kabuki. Hart says “Mr. Gordon Solie… I believe that you can confirm that last week I spoke of the hazards involved in dealing with such dangerous men from even stranger places… I even spoke of the potential rewards from those associations… but most importantly… I spoke about how partners can become victims… and that is exactly what happened to the Great Kabuki”. Solie then questions Hart about the identity of his mysterious stranger causing Hart to turn his attention to the hooded man standing behind him. Hart continues “This is the Great Muta… the heir apparent and subsequent replacement for Kabuki… a much younger and stronger replacement… You see, if you think of all the great talents of Kabuki and then multiply them tenfold… you may begin to understand the potential power of the Great Muta… and therefore how even… more… dangerous… the Great Muta is. Hart and the Great Muta walk away as Solie sends the show to the ring for the second match.
2. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs. Kevin Von Erich
… Gilbert goes for a body slam, but Von Erich slips off and lands behind Eddie. Von Erich follows Gilbert into the ropes and maintains the waist lock for a reverse rollup. The referee slaps the mat twice, but Eddie avoids the pin by pulling the tights of Von Erich and reversing the rollup. The referee quickly adjusts and administers the three count to the surprise of the crowd.
Solie had been joined by the World’s Junior Heavyweight Champion “the Crippler” Chris Benoit for commentary during the match and Benoit is now beside himself after watching Gilbert steal a victory from Von Erich. Gilbert quickly jumps from the ring as Von Erich was none too pleased with what just happened. Gilbert is safe from Von Erich and begins to laugh as he backs towards the locker room. Until he bumps directly in Benoit, Gilbert gives a shocked look when he realizes who he has bumped into and is now backing up once more. Benoit stares a hole through Gilbert as Solie sends the show to another commercial break.
Solie welcomes James. J. Dillon and Bob Orton Jr. to the desk and asks for clarification of what happened to end last week’s show. Dillon smirks at Solie before beginning “Last week… last week was a series of unfortunate events… unfortunate events for Bob Roop. You see, Roop didn’t have to hold Championships to be a member of the Dynasty… Roop didn’t have to win all his matches to remain a member of the Dynasty… Roop didn’t even have to win last week, though it would have been nice… but what Bob Roop does have to do is keep his damn hands off of James J. Dillon! And when that simple line was crossed… Roop found himself on the wrong end of another right hand… the hand of Bob Orton Jr.”. Orton now jumps in “That’s right… and now Bob Roop is nowhere to be found… he isn’t here today… he isn’t a member of the Dynasty… hell Gordon Solie… he ain’t even in the NWA no more.” Dillon cuts off Orton “Exactly… the contract of Bob Roop has been terminated and the Dynasty is actively looking for a replacement!”. Dillon and Orton walk away as Solie sends the show to the ring for the television main event.
3. Road Warriors vs. British Lords
> Winners: Hawk (1:26) following the Doomsday Device on Thornton
The show wraps up with Solie concerned that Les Thorton has been injured at the hands of the Road Warriors, who will challenge for the World Tag Team Championships at Beach Party Beatdown and reminding the fans to tune in next Saturday at 10 AM for more NWA Championship Wrestling.
