"KYOTO SPECIAL SHOW"
Friday, April 21st, 2023
KBS Hall, Kyoto, Japan
Recorded and edited for reproduction on Fuji Television
We are in Kyoto for a special live event at KBS Hall with some of the biggest stars in STORM!
We are then greeted by Yuji Shindo on commentary, who is joined by special guest analyst Super Delfin!
They go over the card for this show, which will be main evented by the Holy Demon Army of Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue taking on the Blue Burning team of Yuji Nagata and Jun Akiyama! This match will serve as a bit of a preview for the Kawada and Nagata bout scheduled for May 6th at "Maximum Destruction" to decide the next challenger to the UWA Universal Championship. Other matches on the card include a tag team match involving Aja Kong and Ayako Hamada taking on NANA*MOMO, and a big singles contest between Kai En Tai leader Taka Michinoku and Great Sasuke! Delfin says he knows both of these men well, and they both know each other extremely well, so that's going to be a great one! When pressed to pick who will win it, Delfin says he thinks Taka will find a way to come out on top before heading into "Maximum Destruction" to face Jushin Liger in a Ladder Match for the International Jr. Heavyweight title.
From there we head to Eiji Tosaka standing in the ring, ready to introduce our first competitors!
MATCH ONE
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki vs. Team STRONGS: Mitsuya Nagai & Masahito Kakihara
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
This was a clash of styles, as the more lucha influenced Hayabusa and Shinzaki took on the shoot style team of Nagai and Kakihara. Nagai and Kakihara would work over Hayabusa early on, using a grounded style to punish the masked superstar. Shinzaki would get the hot tag and fly in with a chop off the top to take down Nagai before taking Kakihara off the apron with a running kick. Nagai would manage to get a tag out to Kakihara about two minutes later, and he would get a two count with a Bridging German Suplex on Shinzaki. Kakihara would latch on again for another German, but Shinzaki would manage to tag out to Hayabusa and reverse the waist lock. Hayabusa hits the ring and delivers a Spin Kick to Kakihara's chest as Shinzaki delivers a German Suplex of his own! Shinzaki runs over and stops Nagai from getting into the ring, tackling him to the floor. Hayabusa comes off the top with the 450 Splash to get the three count as the Kyoto crowd gives him a nice ovation.
Winners by Pinfall: Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki

MATCH TWO
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Cuty Suzuki vs. Yoshiko Tamura
Referee: Mac Takeda
Yoshiko Tamura is gearing up to face Mariko Yoshida in a Chain Match to crown the new WWWA All Pacific Champion, but tonight she would face the spunky and charismatic Cuty Suzuki. Yoshida was a bully throughout the contest, but Suzuki would show her heart and never quit fighting. Suzuki would deliver many dropkicks in this match, consistently rocking Tamura with them to try to get swing the momentum, but Tamura was able to continually cut her off and show why she is a title contender. Suzuki would manage to survive a series of mounted knee strikes in the corner to her head followed by an Ace Crusher, which frustrated Tamura. Tamura would attempt to lift her up for an Alabama Slam, but Suzuki would shock her by sliding out of it and rolling her over with a Sunset Flip for a close two count. These women would then stand toe to toe in the middle of the ring and exchange back and forth strikes. Tamura would end up overwhelming Suzuki, delivering a spinning back elbow, followed by three open hand strikes and then a leaping knee to the head, finishing up with a massive Elbow Strike, knocking Suzuki out cold for the three count. Delfin quips that Suzuki was just knocked into next week, and thinks Mariko Yoshida should probably watch out for that combination on May 6th or she might end up the same way.
Winner by Pinfall: Yoshiko Tamura
(00:06:42)
Tamura gets on the microphone and says that Yoshida showed her true colors in Korakuen. She had a woman beat, and decided to make her tap out for no reason at all, showing her complete lack of class; something you could expect from someone who learned from an animal like Aja Kong. She says that's what she has always held against her, and that's her lack of character. She says everybody thinks Mariko Yoshida is some kind of bad ass, and that it is a foregone conclusion she's going to win at "Maximum Destruction", even though Tamura just beat her at "SUPERCHARGED!" But the entitled Yoshida gets what she wants, as always, and ends up in a title match for being what? A loser? A unsportsmanlike winner? A classless whore!? The fans and commentators squirm at that one. Tamura says she hopes Mariko Yoshida brings that same energy to their match on May 6th, because she doesn't want any excuses when she beats her again and becomes the new WWWA All Pacific Champion.
We go to a pre-taped promo from NWA Double Crown champion Shinya Hashimoto. "The King of Destruction" says that "Maximum Destruction" is his event, and it doesn't matter if it's Yoshihiro Takayama or Kensuke Sasaki, he's coming to destroy any man that stands in front of him. He tells the fans in the Yokohama area to buy a ticket or to tune in to Fuji Television on May 6th, because the reign of destruction continues and you won't want to miss it!
MATCH THREE
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Great Sasuke vs. Taka Michinoku
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
This was a great sprint from two of the best Jr. Heavyweights in the world. These fans in Kyoto got a real treat, with Sasuke climbing up onto the entrance stage at one point and performing a Moonsault off of it in a breath taking display of dare devil prowess. Back in the ring, these two would trade near falls. Delfin was wondering aloud if we might see some Kai En Tai interference as Sasuke began to pick up steam, but that never transpired. Instead, we would get a fairly clean contest until the end. In the final minute, Taka would cut off Sasuke on the top rope with a Leaping Palm Strike and hit a Frakensteiner for a two count. Taka would call for the Michinoku Driver II and attempt to deliver it to Sasuke, but Sasuke would slip out of it and deliver a quick Bridging Dragon Suplex for a two count! Sasuke would then lift Taka with urgency and attempt the Thunder Fire Powerbomb, but Taka would reverse it into a variation of a Yoshi Tonic! ONE, TWO, THRE-NO! Yoshino can't make the three count, Sasuke rolls the shoulder off the mat just in time! Taka grabs Sasuke looks to be trying for a Suplex or Brainbuster, but Sasuke floats over it and grabs Taka's arms, looking for a Tiger Driver, but Taka kicks his legs and blocks it. Taka breaks free and swings his body, taking Sasuke down with an Inverted Drop Toe Hold, and then floats it over into a Crossface Submission! Taka cranks it back and Sasuke reaches for the ropes, but Taka kicks off the bottom rope and rolls both men over, and now he has the hold in the center of the ring! Sasuke can't fight it any longer and taps out! What a match!
Winner by Submission: Taka Michinoku
(00:09:38)
Shindo points out that this one went down to the wire, but Taka found a way to pull it off. Taka gets on the microphone and says everybody thinks he needs Kai En Tai to win his matches, but the fact of the matter is, he's the best the world. Whether it's in the United States, Japan, Mexico, Europe, it doesn't matter! He's the champion! He says he's the rightful champion right now, and at May 6th, he's got his first title defense against the man he beat fair and square to win the title, Jushin Liger! He said he beat the hell out of Liger for 20 minutes, and where he comes from in Chiba, that means he won the fight and he's the rightful champion. He says he's going to bring his belt to Yokohama, they are going to hang it over that ring, and "Maximum Destruction" is exactly what it is going to be, because he's going to beat Liger again, but this time, with ladders involved, he's going to have a lot more fun with it and it's going to a whole lot worse for Liger. He shouts out NWA Representative Hiroshi Hase, saying they'd better put some flowers in the budget for Yokohama, because if it's not Liger's retirement, it just might be his funeral!
Yuji and Delfin discuss what felt at times like a fever dream of a promo from Taka Michinoku. Yuji claims that the fearless leader of Kai En Tai is delusional, while Delfin points out that you can't argue with the results of tonight. Both men can agree that Jushin "Thunder" Liger is going to have his hands full on May 6th in a Ladder Match for the title. We head back to the ring for our next contest.
MATCH FOUR
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Aja Kong & Ayako Hamada vs. NANA*MOMO: Momo Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi
Referee: Mac Takeda
Meiko Satomura challenged Ayako Hamada to a tag team match at "Maximum Destruction" and told her to find a partner. Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you Aja Kong, and as Delfin points out on commentary, Meiko may be reconsidering that challenge now. Ayako starts off the match and has a nice back and forth grappling exchange with the energetic Momo, but it took all of 90 seconds before she tagged out to the "Devil's Favorite Daughter", as Yuji Shindo dubbed Kong on commentary. Momo would rush and attack with elbows and dropkicks before getting caught with a Modified Samoan Drop to stop all of that momentum. Kong would then flatten her with a stiff upward kick right to the jaw to send her eyes crossed and her hands reaching into the air, presumably grabbing at flashing stars. Kong would allow Momo to crawl over and tag out to Nanae. Nanae would cautiously hit the ring and then circle the monster once between the ropes. Nane would rush in with a low dropkick, and then try a similar strategy to her partner, but Kong would manage to get a hold of her by the neck and lifted her into the air with both hands and sent her into the buckles with a choke throw! From there, Kong came in with a big Body Avalanche, followed by a Short Arm Lariat! Kong would deliver three big kicks to Nanae's spine and go for the cover, but would rip her up by her hair at one.
Momo half heartedly tries to break it up, but Ayako easily cuts her off as Aja gets the three count.
Winners by Pinfall: Aja Kong & Ayako Hamada
(00:04:29)
Ayako gets on the microphone and says that Meiko Satomura has gotten herself into a whole lot of trouble now, but the sad part is, she's dragged her best friend into it! Ayako tells Sonoko with friends like Meiko, who needs enemies!? She says Meiko is going wish her parents left her to die on a beach somewhere after the shame she experiences at "Maximum Destruction"! Ouch! She says she'll be nothing but an old spinster, alone, wandering the streets, cursing the day she ever crossed Ayako Hamada! The fans are booing her wildly now, as Ayako just smiles brashly. That gets the boos going. Aja Kong then grabs the microphone and says she's ready to tear Meiko and Sonoko apart limb from limb if she has to get her point across. She says she doesn't need to tell anybody she's the most dominant force in STORM, she proves it every time she steps into the ring. She follows that up by saying she hopes Jaguar Yokota is watching, and that she needs to reach down in her little old lady purse, find her estrogen for menopause and maybe some pride, and face her execution with honor! The heat was cranked up to broil here, as Shindo and Delfin are both just flabbergasted by these two.
MATCH FIVE
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Holy Demon Army: Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada vs. Blue Burning: Jun Akiyama & Yuji Nagata
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
We've got a big one here, as the fearsome Taue and Kawada would take on the paragons of heart and valor, Nagata and Akiyama. Nagata and Taue would start this off, and after a fiery start, Nagata would demand that Kawada get in the ring and face him! Taue would tag out and the fans would liven up a lot, as they prepared for a preview of the UWA Universal Championship number one contendership match scheduled for May 6th. Nagata was looking for a Greco-Roman knuckle lock, but Kawada had other plans, laying into him with big kicks and then dumping him on his head with a Backdrop Driver for a two count. Nagata would eat some big shots from Kawada for a couple of minutes before reversing a whip into the corner and delivering the Blue Justice Knee Lift, followed by an Exploder Suplex! Nagata would shake off the cobwebs and make the tag to Akiyama, and the crowd would go wild as Akiyama came off the top with a Flying Knee Strike to Kawada, taking him down for a two count! Akiyama would deliver an Exploder Suplex of his own and go for another cover, but Kawada would get a foot on the rope to break it up. Akiyama would lift up Kawada and try for a German Suplex, but Kawada would break out and hit a variation of an Enzuigiri to stop Akiyama's high paced flurry.
Kawada and Akiyama both tag out almost simultaneously, and Taue and Nagata hit the ring! Taue catches Nagata with a big High Front Kick that sends him back against the ropes, but Nagata uses the momentum off the ropes to hit a Spinning Wheel Kick to take the big man off his feet! Taue pulls himself up on the ropes and Nagata lays into him with a series of shoot kicks to the chest, blasting him like a baseball bat with his left shin until he's backed into the corner. From there, Nagata runs in, perhaps looking for another Blue Justice Knee, but Taue catches him by the throat and hits his variation of the Chokeslam as a counter! Taue stumbles up, shaking off the cobwebs, and grabs Nagata by the throat again as he is getting up, trying for another Chokeslam, but Nagata reverses it mid-move into a Crippler Crossface! Kawada manages to dive in and deliver a knee to Nagata to break it up, but in comes Akiyama with fire in his eyes! Akiyama delivers a Running Knee Strike to Kawada, sending him out through the ropes, and Akiyama flies out onto him with a Pescado!
Taue picks up Nagata and tries for another Chokeslam, but Nagata elbows out of it. Nagata grabs Taue from behind and seems like he's going for a Backdrop Suplex, but Taue is able to block it and deliver a massive Baba Chop to the head to send Nagata flying against the ropes. Nagata runs forward and ducks a High Kick from Taue and leaps, tagging out to Akiyama, who is back on the apron! Nagata rolls out of the ring, and he and Kawada engage is a brawl on the outside. Akiyama heads up to the top rope, but Taue catches him coming off by the throat and delivers the Chokeslam! Taue goes for the cover, but Akiyama kicks out at two!
Nagata gets back up on the apron, but Taue runs and kicks him back off. Akiyama is back up and catches Taue with a Running Knee Strike that sends him into the ropes. Akiyama grabs him and tries for another Exploder Suplex, but Taue elbows out of it and delivers a big chop to the back of Akiyama's neck. Taue grabs him from behind and lifts him up.
Taue covers him. Nagata is trying to get back in, but he can't make it in time. Taue gets the three count!
Winners by Pinfall: Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada
(00:13:58)
Nagata checks on Akiyama as Taue celebrates. Kawada gets into the ring, and Nagata is back up to his feet and the two stare each other down as the show comes to an end!
