PRESENTS
"SUPERCHARGED!"
Saturday, April 1st, 2023
Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan
Recorded and edited for reproduction on Fuji Television
The show opens with a video montage for this event to the theme "Ashes in the Sky" by Loudness.
We then get an outdoor shot of Nippon Budokan.
From there, we are in the building and pan across the sold out crowd!
We then go down to the announcer's table, where we are welcomed to the show by play-by-play announcer Yuji Shindo and color commentator Kotetsu Yamamoto!
Yuji and Kotetsu go over the line up for this show, which includes the highly anticipated showdown for the NWA Double Crown between champion Shinya Hashimoto and Minoru Suzuki! We also have a UWA Universal championship match between champion "Lionheart" Chris Jericho and the debuting Great Muta! They talk about the training Jericho has been doing to prepare for this match, as we get a look at Don Frye, Mark Coleman, and Kevin Randleman in the front row, who have been working with Jericho on fighting techniques he hopes will bring him victory tonight!
We then head to the ring where Eiji Tosaka is standing in, ready to introduce our first competitors of the evening!
MATCH ONE
NWA INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
NO FEAR: Takao Omori & Yoshihiro Takayama vs. Shinjiro Otani & Tatsuhito Takaiwa
Referee: Shiro Abe
This was a down right nasty brawl between two very tough teams. Omori and Takayama were just bigger and badder on this night, with Takayama showing his dominance once again, delivering the Everest German Suplex to Takaiwa to get the pinfall and win the belts for NO FEAR.
Winners by Pinfall, and NEW NWA International Tag Team Champions: Takao Omori & Yoshihiro Takayama
(00:16:12)
After the match, Takayama and Omori get into an argument on the outside with Don Frye, Mark Coleman, and Kevin Randleman, leading to a brawl!
Security and Tokyo law enforcement hit the ringside area and break up this impromptu fight that has the fans buzzing. Shindo puts over that the Americans do not work for STORM and that they can't put their hands on the wrestlers, while Kotetsu says that they aren't going to back down to anybody and NO FEAR probably shouldn't have provoked them. Don Frye flips off the crowd with both hands as he is being shoved out of the building by officers, and that's a heck of a way to start off "SUPERCHARGED!"
We get a video package to building up the Great Muta, showing his highlight reel before he spits a green mist into the camera! Yuji says the main event is going to be a wild one, and Kotetsu says he can't wait!
MATCH TWO
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Mariko Yoshida vs. Yoshiko Tamura
Referee: Ted Tanabe
These two ladies have been feuding, with Tamura saying that Yoshida doesn't even deserve to be in the ring with a true wrestler like her. Yoshida has been ready to rip her apart, but Tamura kept trying to slow things down and stop her momentum, and the straight laced Tanabe wouldn't let this thing get out of control. These two would end up fighting on the apron, leading Tamura to deliver a Double Wrist Clutch Suplex to the floor! Both women were down, but Tamura would manage to roll into the ring before the count of 10 to get the count out win. Yoshida tried to make it in, but just couldn't do it, and Tanabe wasn't messing around with any slow counts. He's by the book, and those are the rules. The fans aren't happy about this at all.
Winner by Count Out: Yoshiko Tamura
(00:12:34)
Yoshida is very frustrated on the outside and yells on the microphone that Tamura is scared of her and she can't keep running! She says that she may have escaped tonight, but she will get her again soon! Tamura gets on the microphone and said that she lost and she will always lose because she is weak, and says she needs to move on, because she's not a major player like her! Yoshida is furious as we go to the back once again.
We go backstage, where Yumi Fukawa is standing in with Toshiaki Kawada. Kawada says he is prepared for a war with Kensuke Sasaki, and that he is looking for another title match soon. Fukawa asks if he wants the winner of Suzuki and Hashimoto, and he says maybe he would, or maybe he wants the winner of Jericho and Muta.
He says it is ridiculous that the Great Muta can just walk in here and get a Universal title match, especially after losing in America to a guy like Lex Luger. He said Lex Luger is nothing but show muscles, but he's not a fighter. He said the Great Muta might have scary face paint and he likes to spit on people, but is he a real fighter? Does he have real heart? Kawada says he wins and loses, but he always fights the toughest fighters in the world. He says it would be so easy if he could just fight body builders like Lex Luger, but he's never done anything the easy way. Instead, he gets Kensuke Sasaki tonight, a real strong man, a real challenge, but he's ready to do whatever it takes to win and get back in the title hunt.
With that, we head back to the ring for our next contest.
MATCH THREE
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Masato Tanaka vs. Yuji Nagata
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
Yuji Nagata made his debut last week in Nagoya and looked great in defeating Shinjiro Otani. Masato Tanaka also wrestled on that card and won a very tough fight against Kazunari Murakami. Now these two came to Tokyo to do battle, and they brought the hard hitting action for the fans. After 14 minutes, Nagata would take all of the high impact offense Tanaka had to give him and would manage to catch him with a Bridging Backdrop Driver to get the pinfall for the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Yuji Nagata
(00:14:01)
After the match, Yuji Nagata reiterated what he said in Nagoya that he was going to be watching the main event tonight because he's ready to take on the biggest champion in the world. The fans seemed to support this idea.
We go backstage, where LCO of Akira Hokuto, Takako Inoue, Etsuko Mita, and Mima Shimoda are standing in by themselves. Akira cuts a promo saying that LCO begins their reign of terror tonight, as Mita and Shimoda will be taking the WWWA tag team titles by any means necessary. She then says that she will be teaming with Aja Kong to teach Bull Nakano and Megumi Kudo a lesson, once and for all, about who the most dangerous wrestlers in STORM are today! We then head to the ring for the WWWA World Tag Team title match.
MATCH FOUR
WWWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
LCO: Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda vs. Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada
Referee: Mac Takeda
This was a typical wild affair for LCO, with their favorite referee Mac Takeda at the helm letting these ladies fight it out. We saw interference by Takako Inoue for LCO, but her former partner Kyoko Inoue made her way out and smashed her with a chair to equalize the situation. With all of the commotion, Mima Shimoda was able to deliver a Tiger Suplex to Yamada to get the pinfall and win the titles for her team!
Winners by Pinfall, and NEW WWWA World Tag Team Champions: Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda
(00:15:03)
After the match, Kyoko gets on the microphone and calls LCO a bunch of cowards parading around like lions, but she says she is a hunter and is ready to take them down! LCO retreat with their titles, not wanting to mix it up any further with these three women.
MATCH FIVE
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Kensuke Sasaki vs. Toshiaki Kawada
Referee: Shiro Abe
Sasaki and Kawada really laid into each other here, which was expected. Sasaki's chops and lariats blistered Kawada throughout, while Kawada was able to keep regaining momentum with his wide array of kicks and suplexes. Sasaki would attempt to end Kawada with a Single Leg Powerbomb, but Kawada would manage to kick out at two to the surprise of the fans. Sasaki would attempt to finish him off with a Strangle Hold Gamma, but Kawada would get a foot on the bottom rope to get the break. Kawada would try to get the submission win with the Stretch Plum, but Sasaki would use his strength to break out of it. After trading a series of back and forth blows, Kawada would execute a massive powerbomb that had the fans cheering!
Kawada would fold him up tight, and it was all over! Kawada gets the pinfall!
Winner by Pinfall: Toshiaki Kawada
(00:14:11)
MATCH SIX
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Aja Kong & Akira Hokuto vs. Bull Nakano & Megumi Kudo
Referee: Mac Takeda
Mac Takeda once again was at the helm of a hellacious battle, as these four were looking to prove who the toughest are in STORM. These ladies fought all over ringside and the crowd, as blood was spilled and bodies nearly broken. Jaguar Yokota would once again make her way out and confront Aja Kong, and the two would actually come to blows! Kudo would take advantage of this and fly off the top and smash her on the outside with a Front Flip Plancha! LCO would run down and attack Bull Nakano, holding her down as Hokuto smashed her over the head with a chair. Back in the ring, Kudo would fly off the top rope and smash Kong with a chair to put her down for the three count!
Winners by Pinfall: Bull Nakano & Megumi Kudo
(00:11:44)
Out to the ring ran Kyoko Inoue, Manami Toyota, and Toshiyo Yamada to run off LCO and save Bull Nakano from taking any more punishment.
MATCH SEVEN
NWA INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Jushin Liger vs. Taka Michinoku
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
This was a fantastic contest that had a lot more ground work than you might expect from these two wrestlers, with each man trying to prove something to the other about their status as the best Junior Heavyweight in the world. Liger would really start to pull away at about the eighteen minute mark and looked like he was going for the Liger Bomb when out ran Kai En Tai! They would distract Liger, stopping him from hitting the move, but out ran The Great Sasuke, Hayabusa, Jinsei Shinzaki and Tiger Mask IV to even the odds up, and they fought on the outside! Taka would attempt a roll up with the tights grabbed, but Liger would kick out! Liger would deliver a Brainbuster, but Taka would kick out! Liger would then lift her up and hit the Liger Bomb, but the bell would sound before Yoshino could count to three! We've got a draw!
Time Limit Draw
(00:20:00
More chaos ensued on the outside, which allowed Mens Teioh to rush the time keepers table and take the championship belt in all of the chaos and run through the crowd with it! Kai En Tai have stolen the title! We can see Hiroshi Hase, the NWA's Japanese Representative, run from the back and demand it be brought back before yelling to security to stop him from leaving the building! Yuji and Kotetsu put over all of this madness as things are certainly hectic and exciting at ringside!
MATCH EIGHT
NWA DOUBLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 30 Minute Time Limit
Minoru Suzuki vs. Shinya Hashimoto (c)
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
The leader of NO FEAR, Minoru Suzuki, has been goading Shinya Hashimoto into a fight, and now he gets what he asks for. Suzuki is such a talented technician, but he is also a sadistic bastard, and he seemed to really try to be hurting Hashimoto throughout. Hashimoto would show his heart and would get the fans behind him as he landed overhand chop after overhand chop before landing the big kicks. Suzuki would desperately try to end things with his Sleeper multiple times, but Hashimoto would draw on the energy of the crowd and fight him off before landing a Backdrop Driver to get back on the offense! Both men would stagger to the center of the ring and exchange BRUTAL overhand chops before Hashimoto would just overwhelm Suzuki with powerful blows before delivering a spinning backchop, and then hit a devastating Brainbuster to get the three count!
Winner by Pinfall, and STILL NWA Double Crown Champion: Shinya Hashimoto
(00:19:22)
After the match newly crowned NWA International Tag Team champion and NO FEAR member Yoshihiro Takayama steps into the ring and shows his size as he stares down Hashimoto, looking down on him and saying he wants his belt. Hashimoto shoves him back and accepts his challenge!
We get a promo for the next super show from STORM, "MAXIMUM DESTRUCTION", scheduled for May 6h in Yokohama!
MATCH NINE
UWA UNIVERSAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 60 Minute Time Limit
Chris Jericho (c) vs. Great Muta
Referee: Ted Tanabe
Chris Jericho got a big pop coming out, as the fans were very excited to see "Lionheart" in action. The crowd blew the roof off for Muta, who made a very ominous entrance, and you could cut the tension with a knife. Once Eiji Tosaka announce Muta in the ring, the streamers went flying and the Muta chants were loud in the building.
Jericho seemed rattled, as it was clear he'd been preparing, but it's hard to prepare for the Great Muta, especially in his home country. Jericho would start this match very quickly, storming across the ring and stomping and punching Muta into the corner before dropkicking him out of the ring. Jericho continues the assault on the outside before catapulting him into the ring post, busting his head open! Jericho now settles into being a heel and mocks the crowd and Muta. Muta, though, fires back in the ring with chops and a dropkick of his own. He gets a two count with a Powerdrive Elbow, and then locks on the Muta Lock! Jericho manages to fight through it and not tap out. Muta hits the rib breaker and goes up for the Moonsault, but Jericho gets up and rushes him from behind and sends Muta flying to the outside and crashing into the guard rail!
Jericho shoves a fan at ringside and grabs a chair and smashes him over the head with it on the outside! Jericho sends Muta back into the ring and hits a Bulldog and then the Lionsault, but Muta manages to kick out at 2.999! The crowd goes nuts as Muta powers up, his face covered in blood! Jericho looks around and kind of begs off, realizing the momentum is changing.
Muta kicks and punches Jericho before catching an oncoming kick and delivering a Dragon Screw! Muta locks on a Figure Four, and Jericho looks like he might tap! Jericho fights, though, and gets to the ropes. Jericho utilizes a low blow to get the momentum back, and hits a Codebreaker! Jericho goes for the cover, but Muta still kicks out! Jericho shows his MMA training, locking on an Arm Triangle, and he's trying to choke out Muta! Muta is struggling, but he still manages to get his feet on the ropes. Jericho measures him up and tries for the Judas Effect, but Muta ducks it and spits the mist in his face! Huge pop! Muta hits another rib breaker and goes up top... MOONSAULT! NO! Jericho gets the knees up! Muta rolls on the mat holding his midsection and Jericho grabs his legs and rolls him over... LIONTAMER! Jericho locks on the Liontamer!
Muta tries to fight for the ropes as Jericho screams out, telling him to tap! The blood is pouring out of Muta, who yells out! He reaches desperately for the ropes, but he can't get to it. The blood is pooling around him. His eyes roll back and his body begins to go limp, and Ted Tanabe has seen enough. Ted calls for the bell, this is over! Jericho gets the TKO victory!
Winner by Technical Knock Out, and STILL UWA Universal Heavyweight Champion: Chris Jericho
(00:35:13)
Jericho collapses, smiling and laughing. He parades around the ring with his championship and the fans boo him, before cheering and chanting for Muta as he is revived and gets to his feet. Muta bows to Jericho and leaves the ring. Jericho gets on the microphone and says Muta gave him a hell of a fight, but he's the best in the world at what he does, and he knows there's a few guys back there who think they have his number, but they better just get in line or maybe rethink it, because NO ONE IS EVER... EVER... taking the title from Chris Jericho! With that, the show comes to an end.
