WCCW Lone Star Live
From The Stout Center, Fort Bliss, Texas. Friday, November 11th
Promoter: Paul Boesch
General Manager: William Regal
Announce Team: The Professional Brian Myers & Pat McAfee
We start the broadcast in the ring, with The American Dream Dusty Rhodes leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dusty says he has been in rough spots before. He's been through some Hard Times baby, but the American Dream will not die here today! The Nature Boy has no idea what is in store for him tonight. The American Dream will live on, and he will push this series all the way to seven matches and become the World Class Heavyweight Champion.
Pat says he is ready to enlist and follow that man anywhere! Brian sends us to the ring announcer for our first match of the night.
War Machine vs. The Japanese Invasion - Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu w/ Miss Tessmacher
Tessmacher leads her TessMonsters to the ring. War Machine get the babyface pop and start the match fast. Hanson slams Jumbo and Rowe hits him with a legdrop for a 2 count. Tenryu grounds Rowe after the kickout and nails a brainbuster. Jumbo in and they connect with a double clothesline. Hanson runs in to break it up and we get a bit of a four way before order can be restored. Another quick tag, and Hanson and Rowe connect with the Viking Experience Slam on Tenryu. Jumbo breaks it up, Hanson cartwheels out of the way so Rowe can hit him with a cross body for 1...2...3!
Your Winners, via Pinfall (7:47) War Machine!
Tessmacher is screaming at the official about illegal tags and breaking rules and then turns her charges loose on the celebrating victors, Pearl Harboring them (Too soon?) and laying the boots in to War Machine until Tessmacher relents and calls them off. She grabs a camera and screams into it about injustices as they head up the ramp.
We head to the back, where Ric Flair is holding a mic in front of the WCCW Banner. Flair Laughs and says it was as predictable as the sunrise. Big Dust, he talks the talk, but he doesn't have what it takes to walk the walk. He might be the American Dream, but he isn't SLICK RIC! He isn't the man to take the World Class Heavyweight title all over! Bright Lights! Big Cities, and Whoooooo! ALL the pretty ladies. So after he takes care of business tonight, He's going to dance right through Old El Paso Town, and the party is crossing the border. Then, The Nature Boy is going to drink Juarez dry.
He gets quiet and close up into the camera. "Face the facts, Dusty Rhodes. You haven't beat me yet. And now, you have to do it... Not once (Holds up 1 finger)... Not Twice (holds up 2 fingers)... Not Three times (puts up three fingers)... but FOUR TIMES IN A ROW (Holds up four fingers Horseman Style and leaves them up.) Big man once we walk that aisle tonight at Fort Bliss, The American Dream... will be OVER! Whooooo!"
Brian Myers cannot wait until tonight's main event, and Pat can't wait to party with the Nature Boy! Whoooooooooooooooo. The General Manager makes his way to the ring and Brian sends us to William Regal for a HUGE announcement.
Regal reminds us what Paul Boesch said in his opening press conference. WCCW would pay homage to the legacies of the other great Texas based promotions, including the legendary Gory Guerrero (Crowd pop) who promoted El Paso for Western State Sports. In order to pay homage to two of these territories, WCCW is establishing a pair of new singles championships. The Southwest Heavyweight Championship and the Western States Heavyweight Championship.
Now, if you also recall, Mr. Boesch also referenced a special ladder match when he introduced Mustafa Ali at Wrestling Star Wars. He promised details to come, and so here we are. At Black Friday, there will be a Ladder match. One match, but with TWO titles on the line. Each new belt will be hung from the rafters separately, and the fight will last until both belts have been pulled down.
Joining Mustafa Ali will be five other men. One will be the winner of the Rick Martel vs Rey Mysterio Jr. match later tonight, and another the winner of the David Von Erich vs Chris Adams match. There will be three other entrants that will be determined by the WCCW Executive Committee and will be announced as we get closer to Black Friday.
Pat and Brian are ecstatic at this news. A ladder match with not one but two titles at stake! They talk about the matches later tonight that have suddenly gained another level of magnitude, as they are now pathways to championship gold.
Badstreet plays and Pat loses his mind again, rocking out on the announce table. Hayes is in street clothes, so it looks like tonight will be Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts taking on Doom.
The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Doom w/ Sensational Sherri
Sherri Martel accompanies her charges to ringside, and she and Hayes eye each other carefully. Brian reminds us that Sherri is an accomplished wrestler in her own right, and PS Hayes might not want to mess with the Sensational one.
Gordy and Simmons give us some tasty meaty men bumping meat early on, neither one really getting the upper hand. Roberts darts in and out like a rat taking shots at whomever was legal on the other side. He eventually tags in legally, and pays for it right away. Doom with a series of double teams, followed by Simmons hitting the Dominator. Gordy breaks it up, and we get a five way fight with Hayes jumping in to tango with Buddy incapacitated. Sherri climbs up on the apron and Hayes knocks her down. Roberts is back up and the numbers game comes into play.
Suddenly, the crowd surges as Bam Bam Bigelow hits the ring! He levels Hayes and Roberts, then goes nose to nose with Gordy. The stare down takes long enough for Butch Reed to drag him away as Simmons checks on Sherri. This war is clearly not over by a long shot.
Official Decision (6:33) No Contest.
Pat wants to see more of these men fighting, and Brian speculates that we certainly will be seeing Freebirds vs Doom & Bam Bam soon enough.
The Yellow Rose David Von Erich w/ Lacey Von Erich vs. Gentleman Chris Adams
David charges at the bell, and Adams powders out to the floor. He wants back in the ring, but clearly on his terms. David beckons him back in, and Adams stalls. Davd rolls out to chase Adams down, so of course Adams rolls in and meets David on the apron with a kick. Von Erich spills to the floor and Lacey comes over to calm him down and refocus him on the task at hand.
We finally get a lock up and DVE overpowers the Gentleman with a scoop slam and a discus lariat. Adams manages to get back up and leg traps David to the mat. HEre, Chris uses good leverage and grappling ability to keep the tall Texan subdued for quite a while. A flying headscissor nets Adams a 2 count. David manages to reverse a waistlock and hurl Adams into the turnbuckles. A big Belly to Belly suplex and a kneelift have the Brit reeling. Adams snaps off a superkick and both men go down to the mat. The referee gets to 8 before Chris is on his feet, he leans down to pull David up and finds himself in the IRON CLAW! David works his way to his feet, maintaining his grip. Von Erich uses his height advantage to force Adams to his knees and the he finally submits.
Your Winner, via Submission (8:28), David Von Erich!
DVE grabs the mic and screams at Adams for attacking him and his brothers in San Marcos. Adams maintains his innocence. Gino Hernandez comes out with his hands up, pleading for some caution. Lacey gets right in his face and SLAPS the taste out of Hernandez' mouth. The situation is tense, and gets tenser when Skandor Akbar appears on the stage, flanked by The Mercenaries!
David looks back and forth at Gino and Chris, then the men on the stage. He shoves Chris to the mat and starts to take off after Akbar. Lacey manages to get in his path and calm him down enough to remember his brothers aren't here tonight and that nothing good can come of this right now.
Pat and Brian recap the events we just witnessed. If the Mercenaries aren't The Dynamic Duo, then who is? And what about the plan they spoke of in Corpus Christi? On top of all that, David Von Erich is in the Ladder Match at Black Friday, so he's got that to be thinking about as well. Busy times for the Yellow Rose for sure.
Rick Martel vs Rey Mysterio Jr.
Both men get babyface reactions as they are introduced. Handshakes before the bell, and classic collar and elbow lock up to start. Rey shoots off Martel and hits a dropkick and a couple of chops. Martel comes back with a hiptoss, running clothesline, and an atomic drop. Martel scoops Rey for a slam, and Rey spins it into a DDT. Martel crawls to the ropes, but avoids the 619 attempt and uses his strength advantage to Belly to Back suplex Rey repeatedly.
Brian notes he is working the back, as a set up for the Boston Crab. Rey gets to his feet and delivers a handspring elbow and scurries to the corner for a splash. Martel catches him in mid-air and drops him in a backbreaker. Martel is fired up and in charge, when he is suddenly blindsided by Tito Santana! Rey rushes over and gets a kick in the balls from Tito for his efforts. Tito piledrives Martel in the ring, then hurls Mysterio over the ropes and he lands hard on the floor. Tito pulls the belt out of his slacks and proceeds to whip Martel over and over, screaming at his former partner with every stroke.
Official Decision (6:45) No Contest
Three or four officials come down to pull Santana off of Martel. Tito wields the belt, making contact with several of them before Regal himself snatches the leather from Santana's hands. and storms to the back ahead of the hot headed Santana.
We cut to the back, where Dustin Rhodes is standing in front of the banner. He says this whole thing with Wahoo, it just went too far. They pushed each other past their emotional limits, and innocent people got hurt. He realized as he was looking down into the waves crashing into the sides of the Lexington that he might have just killed a man. He knew that wasn't who he wanted to be. He says Mr. Boesh has suspended him indefinitely and that he is sure his name is blackballed in the wrestling business right now.
Dustin is interrupted by William Regal. He has good news for The Natural, Wahoo is indeed on his way to being cleared to return. He has been discussing this with the WCCW Executive Committee, and they have agreed that Dustin will once again have a chance to compete in a World Class ring. But, the only circumstances that will happen under are if Dustin Rhodes wrestles WITH and not against Wahoo McDaniel. Dustin's face goes slack.
Regal continues on. The Executive Committee is putting together the invitations for the World Class Tag Team Championship Tournament, and the GM has arranged for Wahoo and Dustin to have a chance at redemption. That redemption only comes by winning a special Tournament Qualifying Match at Black Friday. If they win, they are in the tournament. If they lose, well, he assures The Natural that he does not want to know the answer to that question.
Cut back to ringside, and Pat and Brian are both in awe. From nearly killing each other to tag team partners? How is that going to work? We'll have to wait until the 25th to find out.
Texas Heavyweight Champion Set Freakin' Rollins come to ringside to sit at commentary for this next match. He's here to watch Curt Hennig do what he's already done, pin Nikita Koloff.
Curt Hennig vs. The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff
Both men have an eye on Seth in the early going, Rollins cackles and enjoys the effect he is having on the match. Nikita Bull rushes Curt for a Sickle and a 2 count. Hennig kicks out and Rollins mocks him. Rollins enjoys reminding Curt he handled Koloff with ease just a couple weeks ago. Nikita dives at Curt in the ring, and they both tumble through the ropes to the floor. Rollins gets up form the announce desk and starts to laugh at Curt. He turns around into a SICKLE form Nikita. Koloff spits at Rollins, and Curt uses that delay to club the Russian from behind. A headfirst throw into the ring steps and Curt rolls back in, looking for the count out.
Koloff manages to crawl back in, but Henning has him at this point. Kneelift. Kick to the gut, Front Facelock, and a Perfectplex for the 1...2...3
Your Winner, via Pinfall (10:42) Curt Hennig!
Rollins goes eye to eye with Hennig after the bell, then cackles and laughs his way up the ramp as his music plays.
Brian recaps the match, then asks Pat what the heck he is doing changing his shoes right now? McAfee says he's putting his Alligators on in preparation of the celebration tonight for The Nature Boy. Brian throws it to the ring announcer for our main event.
The Nature Boy Ric Flair vs. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes - World Class Heavyweight Championship Best of Seven Series - Match Four
Flair Leads the Series 3-0
Dusty comes out very subdued. he's certainly had his chances in this series, but the breaks haven't gone his way. Flair is is good spirits, smiling and telling a fat boy in the front row to shut his mouth before Ric takes his woman.
Nice series of mat grappling to get the match going. Headlocks, armbars, reversals and even a head scissor from Flair occupy the first 4 or 5 minutes. Lots of back and forth. Flair gets the Chop Whoos in the corner, and Dusty gets in the Bionic elbows in shortly after that. Dusty with a slam and a middle rope elbow for the first 2 count.
Flair starts to work the knee, propping it on the bottom rope, when Dusty slides out of the ring and draws Ric out. They trade blows, then Rhodes suplexes Flair on the floor and rolls in. He waits Flair out, and the Nature Boy uses up nearly all 10 counts to roll back in. Dusty takes the offense to Flair now, with lefts and rights and chops of his own. He hits a Bulldog for another 2 count, and goes right into the Sleeper hold. Flair goes to the eyes to break it up, then hits the ropes. Dusty cross crossed him once, then backdrops Ric straight up in the air. Dusty with a corner splash and a belly to belly suplex for another quick 2 count.
Flair tries to roll out, but Dusty drags him back in and traps a figure Four on Flair! Middle of the ring, no place to go and Duty is leaning back on his hands for all the leverage he can muster. Flair is screaming out and tries to reverse it. Dusty rolls through and re-reverses it! Flair screams, but now is near the ropes, and manages to break the hold.
Dusty drags flair to his feet and bounces his head off all four turnbuckles. Flair with a thumb to the eye that slows Rhodes down, and then comes back with a knee to the gut. Flair shoves Dusty through the ropes. Rhodes holds on to the bottom rope and pulls himself up to his feet on the apron. Flair with a double axe handle shot, but Rhodes hangs on to the ropes. Flair with his arms up, goes for another blow and Dusty shoulder blocks him in the midsection between the ropes. The Dream slingshots himself in SUNSET FLIP !...2...3!
Winner, Via Pinfall (22:21) Dusty Rhodes!
The crowd erupts and Flair is insisting the count was fast. Brian says it definitely wasn't and then reminds Pat to change his shoes, because the party tonight will be with cowboy boots on! Pat says that this is a huge upset, and changes the complexion of this series.
Brian agrees. They tell everyone to join us in 2 weeks, when World Class Championship wrestling returns to the Metroplex for Black Friday on Nov 25th!
