AEW Dynamite - Oct. 12, 2022
Live from Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Fla.
The show opens with a big promo for tonight’s main event: Jade Cargill vs. Alexa Bliss in a Boot Camp Match for the AEW Women’s Championship. From Alexa’s surprise debut, to her freaking Jade out with Lily, then losing and tossing Lily in the trash. Jade put Alexa through a mini Boot Camp to earn another title shot. But is Lily now haunting Alexa?
Audience shots show a packed crowd, then Cody Rhodes’ music hits and he walks out with the Young Bucks to a big ovation. They get to the ring, and Cody welcomes the fans in the arena and around the world.
Cody - “I said last week that I had two things to address. One is that the Young Bucks and I are ready to throw down with Cage and his cronies. And the other, in a roundabout way, also has to do with Cage - see, I intend to be a part of that World Championship match at Full Gear one way or another. And I have some breaking news to share. Jeff Jarrett, I know you’re walking backstage - why don’t you roll on out here.” Nothing happens at first, while Cody pretends to check his watch. Eventually, Jarrett’s music hits and The Apex comes out to the stage with Shawn Spears pushing Jarrett’s wheelchair. His leg is in a cast and elevated.
Jarrett - “I’m not sure what you think you have up your sleeve, Cody, but I refuse to put this title on the line in a triple threat match at Full Gear or anywhere else. If you want to have a shot at Full Gear, you’ll have to settle that issue with Brian Cage. For that matter, I’m not sure I’ll be cleared to wrestle by then.”
Cody - “See, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I actually have a video I want to show everyone. I shared it with the boys in the back. Now, if you’ll take a look up at the screen.”
A video plays in shaky cam. It appears to be from a cell phone sitting in someone’s shirt pocket. It’s at a golf course, and The Apex is sitting in their golf carts. Bobby Roode is taking a swing while the rest of the group is sitting in the carts. James Storm comes over to the person with the camera and orders a beer. The guy asks for an autograph, but JBL yells over for the guy to scram. The employee drives a little way off, then stops and turns back toward the tee box to watch them hit. Jeff Jarrett - without a cast on his leg - steps out of the cart, grabs a club and hits a ball. He’s not limping at all. The video ends.
Cody - “That video was taken two days after our match at All Out. You faked your injury because you knew I had you beat, and you’ve been clinging to a lie since then.”
Jarrett looked stunned, then pissed. “Who cares what video you have, and who’s to say that it wasn’t taken before our match, huh?”
Cody makes a motion to the back, and audio plays over the speakers. It’s JBL asking Jarrett how his foot is feeling. Jarrett replies that it feels fine and that he “fooled all the marks.”
Cody - “Is that enough proof for you? I think it’s time to talk about a rematch.”
Jarrett sighs and pulls off the cast and stands up. “All right, Cody, you caught me. But I’m still the champion and you’re still nothing in this business except for the son of a legend. Good luck getting another shot.” The Apex walks to the back, while Cody and the Bucks look on.

Match 1 - Raven & Hook vs. The Butcher & The Blade (2-6)
Raven and Hook get the win in 5:23 when Hook locks in the REDRUM on the Blade. During the match, Malakai Black stood on the stage alongside Kidman, evaluating the match. Raven and Black stare each other down afterward.
—
Alexa Bliss is in her locker room warming up for her match when the lights go out. They come back on and “I’m coming for you, Alexa” is scrawled in red on the mirror behind her. Alexa looks freaked out and leaves the locker room.
—
Jon Moxley comes out through the crowd while Wild Thing plays. He gets to the ring with a mic and a smile. "In a couple weeks, I will have a chance to tear down the house with Samoa Joe. I'm so lucky to get to do the thing I love. Quite humbly, I believe I'm the best in the world at doing what I love. But I also respect others who have come before me and accomplished great things. Unfortunately, respect is a two-way street. And Samoa Joe hasn't returned the same level of respect my way. So he’s about to get hit by a train.”
—
Match 2 - Hijo de la Park (2-4-1) vs. Rick Steiner (0-1)
Steiner gets the win in 8:34 with a bulldog off the top rope. The Outsiders were sitting in the front row eating popcorn during the match. Afterward, they stood and clapped as Steiner looked at them oddly.
—
Mick Foley comes out next to a huge ovation from the crowd. "Thank you, thank you for the kind welcome! It's great to be back in a wrestling ring with a microphone. Tony Khan called me up a couple months ago to pick my brain on a few things. And I have to tell you, it felt good to be called, even if that brain is a little bit mushy. After some talking, he even convinced me to return to the ring at Full Gear. I just have to figure out which face to put on."
Beer Money comes out, and Roode says nobody in the entire world is asking for Foley to return to the ring. "You should just keep writing books, old man, and leave the ring work to people who can still hang." They approach the ring and slide in, surrounding Foley. Then Matt Riddle and Jeff Cobb run down and Beer Money clears the ring.
Riddle - "You looked like you were in some trouble, Mr. Clause. I had to make sure I stayed on the Nice List, so we came out to assist." The trio in the ring bumps fists as Beer Money scowls from the outside.
—
Brian Cage, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander are backstage.
Cage - "Cody, it looks like you're a little bit preoccupied. I couldn't care less about what my title match at Full Gear looks like. Whether it's one on one against Jarrett, a triple threat with you or the Pope. I'm walking out of Full Gear with the belt. And we are walking out of Grand Slam with a win over Cody and the Young Bucks."
—
Match 3 - Serena Deeb (6-3) vs. Riho (4-4)
Riho plays the plucky underdog and wins with a roll-up at 8:11.
—
Tony Khan comes out onto the stage with an important announcement. Due to Jeff Jarrett’s deception, he’s granting Cody Rhodes a rematch during the second night of Dynamite: Grand Slam, in two weeks. This time, there’s no champion’s advantage: It’ll be a ladder match!
—
New Day is in their locker room playing WCW/NWO Revenge on the N64. Xavier Woods looks sad and tells Kofi he can't believe he agreed to put the 64 on the line.
Big E - "Chin up, man. This was the only way to get them to agree to another match against you. They have been merciless in their attacks on us. Now we get to prove, in the ring, that the New Day is superior."
There's a knock on the door and it's LAX.
Konnan - "We got you a little present, hombres. For when we destroy your precious Nintendo."
Homicide hands a box to Kofi, who gives it to Xavier. He opens it warily. It's an Atari Jaguar. He yells "Nooooooo!" in anguish as Konnan laughs and LAX shuts the door.
—
Match 4 - Sammy Guevara (9-4) w/ Tay Melo vs. Peter Avalon (1-9) w/ Dean Malenko
Guevara gets the win with the 630 splash at 4:53.
—
We see footage of Paige VanZant sparring with Ronda Rousey to train for her upcoming match against Tay Melo.
—
We come back from break to find Gable Steveson and Jake Hager in the ring for a weigh-in. The All-Atlantic belt is between them, and Hager looks at it longingly. Coach instructs the competitors to shake hands. When they do, Hager leans in and whispers something to Steveson, who immediately shoves Hager away, grabs the belt and walks off. Hager looks after him and smiles.
—
Jeff Jarrett is backstage confronting Tony Khan about the unfair ladder match coming up at Grand Slam. Tony tells him he shouldn't have faked his injury. "You're lucky I don't just strip the title off of you."
Jarrett storms off.

Main Event: AEW Women’s Championship: Boot Camp Match (No DQ, falls count in ring only): Jade Cargill © (11-0) vs. Alexa Bliss (2-1)
As the match gets ready to start, Sasha Banks's music hits and she comes out for guest commentary. Jade glares at her, and Alexa attacks right away.
Alexa's onslaught continues for a little while until Jade overpowers her. Jade slides out of the ring and grabs a lead pipe from under the ring. Alexa dodges and dropkicks Jade in the knee. Alexa grabs the pipe and hits Jade in the back of the head! She goes for the pin, but the lights go out and evil laughter fills the arena.
When the lights are back on, both competitors are laying in the ring, confused about what happened. They get to their feet and continue the match, fighting back and forth.
They spill to the outside, where Jade hits her Jaded Finisher by the announce table. She goes face to face with Sasha and says she can't wait to take the UWA Championship off her hands. Sasha tells her she has a match to concentrate on right now.
Jade rolls Alexa in the ring and decides to go for a running leg drop, but Alexa rolls out of the way! She picks up the lead pipe and hits Jade in the face with it, then falls down exhausted. She crawls over for the pin. 1…2…No! Jade kicks out!
Jade Irish Whips Alexa and gives her a big boot. She lifts Alexa up and hits the Jaded Finisher. She scowls and hits another Jaded Finisher for the pinfall at 17:54. The ref hands her the AEW Woman's Title and she slides out of the ring and goes nose to nose with Sasha Banks as we end the show with a preview of the two-week Grand Slam event card.
