Dynamite -
The show starts with Cody Rhodes’ music, and the number one contender walks to the ring to a loud ovation.
Cody - “In two-and-a-half weeks, I have the chance I’ve been waiting my entire life for. I will walk into Atlantic City at All Out, face off with Jeff Jarrett and walk out with the AEW Championship. Ever since I was a little boy, watching my daddy in the ring, I’ve known that I would be the World Champion. And I will not let anyone stop me. Tonight, I’m going to beat James Storm from pillar to post.”
—
Match 1 - The Acclaimed (0-0) vs. The American Wolves (5-2)
The Acclaimed win at 8:55 with a Max Caster surprise roll-up of Davey Richards. After the match, Eddie Edwards superkicked Caster and Bowens, then stormed off.
—
The Steiners come out to the ring, holding their belts. Rick starts with the mic and barks into it to get the crowd rile up. Scott starts talking - “It has been far too long since my brother and I have been out here in front of the AEW universe. But, finally, we have new challengers. Congratulations to Los Parks and the New Day on your win last week. I believe - if I’ve heard correctly - that the New Day may be out of commission for a little while. But Los Parks? We’ll see you at All Out, and we’ll proudly defend the gold against you.”
Cesar Duran and the members of Los Parks come out to the stage and accept the challenge. He then challenges Scott to a singles match against Hijo de la Park next week!
—
Backstage, Paige VanZant and Ronda Rousey are walking toward the entrance area together, chatting. The Beautiful People appear out of nowhere and attack them both with chairs. They lay Paige and Ronda out before walking off.
—
Match 2 - Jake Hager (2-3) vs. Sammy Guevara (5-3) w/ Tay Conti (Samoa Joe on commentary)
Hager and Guevara have a great back-and-forth match. Hager eventually gets fed up and hits a low blow on Guevara behind the ref’s back. He hits the Swagger Bomb and gets the win at 9:45. After the match, Joe gets in the ring for a staredown with Hager. Hager takes a swing, but Joe dodges it and locks in the coquina clutch until Hager is out! Joe storms off.
—
Big E is backstage, talking with Jonathan Coachman.
Coach - “Welcome to AEW, Big E! You made an impactful debut last week to help your team get the win at Blood & Guts, but it looks like the New Day might have some unfinished business with LAX.”
Big E - “I’m thrilled to be reunited with Kofi and Xavier, and to be a part of All Elite Wrestling. There’s a lot I hope to accomplish here. But first, we need to make LAX pay. Hernandez, I am calling you out. I want to see you in the ring. Any time, any place. Hell, I’d face you outside the ring, too. You have injured my two best friends. And it’s all because they beat up Konnan in a 25-year-old video game? I’m going to bring the pain. And you’d better bring your A-game.”
—
Match 3 - Raven (2-1) vs. Hook (6-0)
Raven and Hook fight back and forth. During the match, Taz leaves the commentary table and goes ringside to give Hook some pointers. Hook shrugs him off and tells Taz to let him be. This distraction allows Raven to catch Hook off-guard. He hits the Evenflow DDT! 1…2…Taz slides in and breaks up the pin! Raven wins by DQ in 7 minutes. He and Taz start shoving each other. Taz hits a T-Bone suplex on Raven! Then he slides out of the ring and starts pulling Hook along the ramp with him, with Hook arguing. Raven stands in the ring and looks on, perplexed.
—
Jeff Jarrett is backstage with the rest of The Apex.
Jarrett - “I’m getting a little bit tired of Cody Rhodes always talking about legacy. It is not Cody Rhodes’ destiny to win this championship. That grandson of a plumber’s only destiny is to match his father’s legacy - he is going to come up short in the biggest match of his career.”
—
Match 4 - Peter Avalon & Dean Malenko (0-0) vs. The Butcher & The Blade (2-5)
Malenko gets the pinfall on The Blade in 4:21. After the match, Avalon celebrates like they won a championship, while Malenko gives him an icy stare. Malenko walks away, and Avalon trails him with a big smile.
—
After a match on commentary by himself, Coach is joined by Jade Cargill for the following match.
Match 5 - Alexa Bliss (1-0) vs. Michelle McCool (4-2)
Bliss notches the win at 7:42 after freaking McCool out with Lily. She grabs a mic after the match. "Lily and I can't wait for our Women's Championship Match at All Out. She's got some surprises in store for Ms. Cargill." Bliss smiles toward Cargill, who walks off, as we head to break.
—
Sasha Banks comes to the ring, holding the UWA Women’s Championship, to a large ovation.
“This weekend, I’m headed into enemy territory to defend this belt against Becky Lynch. It’s ‘The Man’ against ‘The Boss,’ and the Boss is motivated. See, it’s been a quiet summer since beating Tessa Blanchard at the UWA SuperCard. I’ve been itching to get back into the ring. Becky, you’re always talking about being The Man. Your mouth is writing plenty of checks; I can’t wait to tear them up.”
—
Matt Riddle, Jeff Cobb and The Hurricane are backstage chatting.
Riddle - "Bros, we have got a huge opportunity at All Out. I just learned that all three of us are in the Casino Battle Royale for the World Title shot! This time, I won't let it slip through my fingers. Unless it's to one of you."
Cobb - "We just need to chill out and take care of business. Beer Money is also in the match. They'll pull out all the stops to eliminate us."
Hurricane - "I think Riddle is already plenty chill."
Riddle - "It does feel a little drafty, weatherman. I should put on a sweater."
—
Jeff Jarrett joins Coach on commentary for this match.
Match 6 - Cody Rhodes (5-2) vs. James Storm (0-0) w/ Bobby Roode
Rhodes picks up the win with the CrossRhodes at 14:56. Roode was sent to the back by the ref after helping Storm. That led to Storm getting the upper hand. Rhodes had a classic underdog comeback to grab the win. He celebrated as the show went off the air, making belt motions around his waist, staring at Jarrett.
Next Week on Dynamite:
