live from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
live from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Brandi Rhodes (2-4) vs. Jamie Hayter (0-6) - Brandi defeats Jamie at 5:42.
Taynara Conti (1-0) vs. Cheerleader Melissa (1-1) - Conti wins at 6:23, following Sammy Guevara distracting the ref.
The American Wolves cut a promo about licking their wounds from two losses to the Steiners. They vow to be back in the title picture soon.
Sammy Guevara (4-3) vs. Hijo de la Park (2-2) - Guevara picks up the win at 9:55 after a back-and-forth match. Park got distracted when LAX/5150 came to ringside, allowing Guevara to nab the win. The heel stable slid into the ring to beat Park down, and Guevara bailed.
Dynamite -
The show kicks off with highlights from last week, which saw the AEW debut of Samoa Joe, as well as appearances from The Beautiful People and Alexa Bliss. Jeff Jarrett retained his championship against Raven, the Steiners retained against the American Wolves, and Paige VanZant won her Lights Out match against Serena Deeb. We cut to the arena and find Tony Khan on-stage with a smile on his face.
Khan - "Welcome to another wonderful Wednesday night of AEW Dynamite! We've got some great matches on-tap, headlined with World Championship Number 1 contender, Cody Rhodes, who will take on Shawn Spears! We are fully on the road to All Out on September 10, where Cody will get his shot at the gold. I'm also announcing a Casino Battle Royale for a world title opportunity at the show.
"But before we get to All Out, we are first going to be making a stop at Blood and Guts in two weeks, as the Parks and New Day face off with LAX and 5150! That night will also feature Jade Cargill defending her championship against Brandi Rhodes and another match that will be revealed later tonight - it's a match that will break-down the forbidden door between promotions. But I've talked for too long. I want to bring out the newest member of All Elite Wrestling - Samoa Joe!" The crowd goes wild as Joe's music hits and he walks out to the ring, wearing a suit and a smile on his face.
Joe - "Man, am I excited to be here in Green Bay for All Elite Wrestling. I've wrestled great matches and won championships all over the world, and I am always up for a new challenge. I want to make AEW the top name in professional wrestling, and I want to be the top name in AEW. So for my next order of business…" he gets interrupted by Jake Hager on the stage.
Jake - "My man, Samoa Joe. The Samoan Submission Machine! I must have had wax in my ears, because I thought I heard you say something about your next order of business. I have a problem with that. See, I wasn't prepared to face such an elite opponent. If you give the All-American Jake Hager time to prepare, and I know I can make you tap out!"
Joe - "You think more time will help you beat me? Hah. Clearly you've had this on your mind all week. How about we throw down right now?" Joe starts to remove his jacket.
Jake - "Hold your horses, my Samoan friend. We aren't doing this tonight. The Green Bay fans don't deserve to see me wrestle. I'll let you know when I'm ready." Joe just nods and smiles as we cut to commercial.

Match 1 - Slice Boogie (0-4) vs. Xavier Woods (1-0)
Woods notches the win with the Lost in the Woods at 4:25.
—
We are backstage and see Cesar Duran talking on his cellphone as Konnan walks up with Danny Rivera, Hernandez and Homicide. Hernandez takes the phone, drops and steps on it.
Konnan - “Hombre, it’s dangerous to walk these halls without your backup.”
Cesar - “Whatever you think you’re doing, you would be best served to walk on by and leave me alone.”
Konnan smiles and nods toward Homicide, who hits Cesar with a forearm. Hernandez follows it up with a punch to Cesar’s face that knocks him out. He lifts Cesar up on his shoulder and they walk off with their new prisoner.
—
Match 2 - Michelle McCool (3-2) vs. Madison Rayne (0-0) w/ Angelina Love and Velvet Sky
Madison wins at 6:32 with the Rayne Check (Guillotine Drop). Afterwards, the rest of the Beautiful People join her in the ring.
Angelina - “The minute we walked into this building, we immediately raised the attractiveness quotient of everyone here tenfold. It happens everywhere because we’re the Beautiful People. But it’s especially apparent here in dumpy Wisconsin.”
Velvet - “Aw, Angelina. These fans already have to live in a frozen wasteland. Do we really need to pick on them? I can think of much better people to pick on.”
Madison - “Like Paige VanZant. Sure, she had a pretty face. But after last week, she’ll never be beautiful again.”
Angelina - “What we’re saying, Paige, is that the Beautiful People want to make their mark in AEW. And we’re going to start with you.”
—
Match 3 - Dean Malenko (1-7) vs. Peter Avalon (0-9)
Malenko controls the match for the first six minutes, but can’t put Avalon away. Malenko locks in the Cloverleaf, but Avalon is able to get to the ropes. While Malenko is arguing with the ref, Avalon rolls him up and gets the 1…2…3! Peter Avalon wins! He celebrates like he’s won the championship. Malenko looks like he’s going to snap, but then rolls out of the ring and walks dejectedly to the back.

We are backstage with Gable Steveson, standing with his All-Atlantic Championship.
Gable - “It is truly an honor to represent AEW, and to be given this opportunity. There is still so much more I want to accomplish in this business, and I’m not entirely sure what is next. But you can be assured that I am the Real Deal, and I will rise up to any challenge put in front of me.” There’s a knock at the door, and Cody Rhodes walks in.
Cody - “Thanks for having my back last week, man. I know we haven’t talked much yet. But welcome to AEW and the crazy world of professional wrestling.” They bump fists, but are then interrupted by Shawn Spears and JBL.
JBL - “The two of you are really starting to piss us off. Gable Steveson, you need to keep your nose in your own damn business. I had Cody beat last week until you interfered.” (Gable just shakes his head.
Shawn - “That championship should be around my waist. Hell, it would be if I hadn’t had a tougher road to the final round than you did. So I want another shot.”
Gable - “I don’t see why you should get another shot. But, hell - you’re fighting Cody tonight? If you can beat him, you’ve got it.”
—
Match 4 - Jungle Boy (2-1) vs. Billy Kidman (3-3)
In a rematch from the first round of the Fight for the Fallen tournament, Jungle Boy gets the win at 8:56 with a Canadian Destroyer. The Butcher and the Blade tried interfering, but Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt ran them off. After the match, the lights went out and came back up. Malakai Black hit Jungle Boy with the Black Mass and sneered over Jungle Boy lying motionless on the mat.
—
Jade Cargill is in the ring with her championship around her waist and a scowl on her face. “It appears that Tony Khan doesn’t appreciate what I am bringing to AEW. No woman in the back can hold a candle to me. I’ve proved it again and again, and I’ll prove it at Blood and Guts in two weeks against Brandi Rhodes. Tony should be thanking me for putting AEW on the map. Hell, I’ve got a UWA title shot against Sasha Banks coming up whenever Tony gets off his lazy…” she is cut off by Alexa Bliss’ music. Alexa comes to the stage, wearing white contacts and holding her doll.
Alexa - “I think you’re getting ahead of yourself. Lily and I will be ready to ascend to the top of the women’s division soon. As part of my agreement to sign here in AEW, I get a title opportunity because of my previous record. So if you get past Brandi in two weeks? Jade Cargill vs. Alexa Bliss for the AEW Women’s Championship at All Out.” Alexa smiles, then walks to the back, as Jade scowls in the ring.
—
Match 5 - Andrade El Idolo (2-3) vs. Orange Cassidy (0-6)
Andrade gets the win with the La Sombra DDT at 2:43.
—
The Apex heads to the ring, all smiles. In the ring, Bobby Roode starts with the mic.
Bobby - “We showed last week that Beer Money is here, and we mean business. We wiped the floor with the self-proclaimed Chosen Bros, and we can move on to brighter pastures.” His mic fuzzes out and the AWA Champion Don Leo Jonathan appears on the screen beside the Briscoe Brothers.
Don Leo Jonathan - “In two weeks, AEW will be venturing into the heart of the American Wrestling Association’s territory during Blood & Guts. That seems like a good time for us to show you a little bit of AWA hospitality. Myself and the Briscoe Brothers versus Jeff Jarrett and Beer Money. See you in Minneapolis!”
Jarrett grabs the mic - “Dammit, you’re on! See you in two weeks!”
—
Main event - Cody Rhodes (5-2) vs. Shawn Spears (5-3)
Cody and Shawn have an intense back-and-forth match. It eventually gets thrown out at about 15 minutes after JBL comes to ringside to interfere, which brings out Gable Steveson to even the odds. The four men brawl in the ring as the show comes to a close.
