Due to the dramatic changes taking place in the UWA this week, AWA owner Verne Gagne and AWA Commissioner Stu Hart decided to do a recorded, empty arena show from the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Next week, they will be back live in the same venue.
After the 60-second sizzle reel of classic AWA action interspersed with close-ups of and highlights from members of the current AWA roster, Joey Styles and Jesse Ventura welcomed the TV audience to the special, explaining that Commissioner Stu Hart was preparing for the upcoming UWA dispersal draft. Thus, tonight's show would only feature a couple of live matches, as well as action from some of the best matches in the AWA this year.
Highlights from the Tyler Bate / Ilya Dragunov match at SuperClash 2021.
A vignette for the Blond Bombers, Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson, aired next; they would be debuting next week.
Gagne wanted to showcase some of his younger wrestlers on the special, so he let the young lions Thesz and Dallas go about ten minutes. Thesz won with a flying body press.
Highlights from the Buddy Murphy / Austin Theory match on AWA All-Star Wrestling, episode 9.
Harris came out with previously unseen confidence and aggression, taking it to the newcomer Dijak. The taller wrestler battled back, but after about ten minutes, Harris won with a spinning reverse STO.
Highlights from the Nick Aldis / Mad Dog Vachon match at AWA Winterslam.
Styles interviewed Jerry Lawler, who smugly declared that he retired Nick Bockwinkel at AWA Awesomesauce, and it was just the first step in his eventual reclamation of the AWA World Heavyweight championship.
Highlights from the Don Leo Jonathan / Nigel McGuinness / Jon Moxley / Austin Theory match on AWA All-Star Wrestling, episode 14...
... followed by highlights of Jonathan's AWA World title win over Jerry Lawler, Miro, and Mad Dog Vachon at AWA Wednesday in Wisconsin.
A vignette for Matt Cardona played, promoting his debut AWA match next week.
Very evenly-contested battle, another ten-minute match that was won by Tanahashi via a top rope splash.
Highlights from the Midnight EXpress's AWA World tag-team title win over the North on AWA All-Star Wrestling, episode 15.
Highlights from the Don Leo Jonathan / Jeff Jarrett match at UWA SuperCard 1.
The main event featured the rapidly improving Steiner against a proven veteran, and served as a showcase for the second-generation star's freakish athletic ability. Hero took charge of the first couple of minutes, but it was all Steiner soon after, and he nailed Hero with a running powerslam for the victory.
