AEW Dynamite - July 13, 2022
Live from Pittsburgh, PA
Flashback to last week, with Raven debuting and winning the number 1 contendership match to earn a title shot against Jeff Jarrett at Summer Smash in two weeks. We cut to the crowd as Jeff Jarrett’s music hits, and out walks the AEW World Champion, flanked by the rest of The Apex.
Jarrett - "Before my so-called championship opponent ambles down here, I want to address what happened at the UWA SuperCard event. In the battle of champions, I had Don Leo Jonathan right where I wanted him until the Briscoes distracted me. A sure win for Double J turned into a time limit draw. So, Don - I'm going to toss out another challenge. We want a little revenge in the name of a six-man tag team match. Beer Money and Jeff Jarrett against the Briscoes and Don Leo Jonathan. We’ll show that the AWA can’t hang with The Apex.”
“Come Out and Play” by the Offspring hits and out walks Raven to a round of applause. He gets to the ring and faces off with Jarrett.
Jarrett - “Welcome to All Elite Wrestling, Raven. I’ll tell you something - with the moves Tony Khan has been making around here, I was downright shocked that you were the mystery opponent last week. Are we already scraping the bottom of the gutter for talent?”
Raven, smiling - “Yes, yes. Make fun of my appearance. But what really galls you, Jeff Jarrett, is knowing that I have your number. I have stared into the darkness and pondered what it means; I’ve been to the bottom, and I’ve climbed to the top; you should know that this group you cling to will only disappoint; your soul, deemed impure, will lose only what you have sought.”
Jarrett - “What the hell are you talking about?”
Raven - “In two weeks, I will bring you down to my level. And I will ascend to the top of the mountain. Quote the Raven, nevermore.”
Jarrett - “You are nothing but a has-been, trash wrestler. And I’ll send you back to the Bowery where you belong.”
Shawn Spears moves to attack Raven, but Jarrett puts his arm out and shakes his head. The Apex leaves the ring, while Raven waits for his opponent.
Match 1 - Raven (1-0) vs. Peter Avalon (0-7)
Raven wins with the Evenflow DDT at 1:42.

Tony Khan is in his office in the back with an announcement. “Next week we will crown the first ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion, with an 8-man tournament. And tonight, we will see those eight men in a huge tag team match. I do want to announce the tournament match-ups for next week:
Gable Steveson vs. Sammy Guevara
Jungle Boy vs. Billy Kidman
Jeff Cobb vs. Baron Corbin
Shawn Spears vs. Matt Riddle
Good luck to all of our competitors!”
There’s a knock at the door, and Jake Hager enters.
Jake - “So, uh, boss? Have you been able to find me a spot on the Summer Smash card yet?”
Tony - “Jake Hager! Just the man I needed. You see, I’m finalizing a contract right now for a new superstar, coming into AEW, and I need a high-level opponent. Are you in?”
Jake - “Are you going to tell me who it is?”
Tony - “No, no. I don’t think I will. You know me - I like a good surprise! But I can promise you this - if you can defeat this guy, you will be in line for a title opportunity.” Jake nods his head and smiles and goes to fist bump Tony, who just looks at the hand and moves on. We cut to commercial.

Match 2 - L.A. Park Jr. (0-2) vs. Slice Boogie (0-2)
Park Jr. wins with a spear at 5:42.
Following the match, Cesar Duran hops in the ring with a microphone and calls out the remaining members of Los Parks. “Los Parks and LAX have been battling back-and-forth since the first episode of AEW Dynamite, and it is time to put that to bed. That is why I am talking tonight. Konnan, get your goons out to the stage. We have something to say.” The LAX faction - including 5150 - comes out to the stage.
Konnan - “What do you have in mind, old man?”
Cesar - “It’s time to end our feud. On August 17, Dynamite will have a special presentation live from San Diego. And that is where the Los Parks and LAX feud will end. In Blood and Guts!”
Konnan nods his head and smiles. “All right, hombre, you’re on. But, uh - I only count three wrestlers in the ring with you.”
The New Day’s music hits, and out walk Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. They stare down Homicide and Hernandez as they walk toward the ring.
Cesar - “I’d like to introduce you to two new honorary members of Los Parks, for Blood and Guts only - Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods! And we’ve got one more challenge for you. L.A. Park has an opponent in mind for Summer Smash.”
L.A. Park - “KONNAN!”
Konnan - “You want a piece of me? You’ve got it. And when I beat you, Team LAX gets the man advantage at Blood and Guts!”

Match 3 - American Wolves vs. The Butcher and the Blade
The Wolves win at 5:21 when they team up for the Force of Nature, with Richards pinning the Blade.
After the match, Davey grabs the mic - “Steiners, we want one more match. Last time, you were in Eddie’s head a little bit. But we almost had you. We will continue to make your lives difficult until we get our chance.”
Rick and Scott appear on-screen.
Scott - “The two of you are like little annoying flies, always buzzing around our heads. Thing is, if you just flit about, we could ignore you. But you’re one of those big bite-y flies. So now we are going to swat you.”
Rick - “And this time, there will be no hiding from either of us. We’ll give you one more shot - if you agree to a tornado tag team match! And when we win, the American Wolves no longer get to challenge for the belts as long as we hold them.” Rick starts barking and the crowd joins in. The Wolves nod their heads and we cut to commercial.

After the break, Paige VanZant comes out to the stage with a mic. She has her ankle wrapped up, and she is on a crutch.
Paige - “The doctors tell me it will take a couple of months to fully heal, and they won’t clear me for a match. So I asked Tony for a few moments here to thank the fans and vow that I will be back for my revenge as soon as I can…” Serena Deeb’s music hits and she walks out, as Paige looks warily on.
Serena - “Don’t worry, Paige. I’m not here to attack you again. I just wanted to remind the fans of why you’re on the shelf. Roll the footage.” She smiles, as the video screen plays footage of Serena kicking and stomping Paige’s ankle, including hitting it with a chair two weeks ago. “I hope you enjoy your rehab.”
Paige - “Thank you for coming out here. But you interrupted me before I could finish. You see, I’m not cleared by the doctors. And I had to sign a few extra papers in Tony’s office earlier. But…” she drops her crutch and stands on her injured foot. “As you can see, I can stand on my foot. And as long as I can stand, I’m willing to fight. Tony won’t sanction the match, but that doesn’t matter to me. I want to beat you until you have to be carted out of the arena. Serena, let’s throw down one more time, in a Lights Out match at Summer Smash!” The crowd goes nuts, as Serena nods her head and then makes a move toward Paige. Paige dodges, then locks in a rear naked clutch! They fall to the ground and Paige won’t let go until officials pull her off! Cut to commercial.

Match 4 - Cody Rhodes (3-2) vs. Dean Malenko (1-5)
Cody defeats Dean with the CrossRhodes at 6:21. After Dean goes to the back, Cody grabs a mic. “The past few weeks have been quite the roller coaster. I had the chance to team up with my family, as we defeated the Freebirds. Then just a few days later, I had another shot at the World Championship taken from me. The win was mine when John Bradshaw Layfield swooped in to deny me my chance. I know he was sent into the match with the directive to make sure I didn’t win. I won’t stop until I get the AEW World Championship around my waist!”
JBL comes out to the stage - “Do you ever shut up, Cody? You talk a lot about your daddy, the Son of a Plumber, who came from nothing to be one of the top minds in the history of the business. But you, Cody, were born on third base. And you constantly act like you hit a triple to get there. So here’s a deal - you beat me at Summer Smash, and I’ll get out of your way. Prove you can hang with the big dogs. Or stay the hell away from us.” Cody nods his head as we go to break.
—
Match 5 - Non-Title: Jade Cargill Challenge (7-0) vs. Anna Jay
Jade defeats Anna at 2:12 with the Jaded Finisher. After the match, the screen fuzzes out, the clock is ticking down, and the date 7/27/22 appears on-screen before cutting to commercial.
—
Match 6 - 8-man tag (Tournament Challengers)
Jeff Cobb, Jungle Boy, Gable Steveson and Matt Riddle vs. Sammy Guevara, Baron Corbin, Shawn Spears and Billy Kidman
The two teams have a good back-and-forth match until Beer Money interferes to fight with Cobb and Riddle, who were not the legal men at the time. Jungle Boy and Gable Steveson were short-handed, and Shawn Spears hit the C4 to score the pin on Jungle Boy, while Guevara, Corbin and Kidman held back Steveson, who fought through and just managed to hit Spears a fraction too late to break up the pinfall.
Spears and Steveson trade punches and spill to the floor, while Kidman, Corbin and Guevara start to attack Jungle Boy. JBL runs out to help Spears with Steveson, and that brings out Cody Rhodes to even the odds. They fight into the back.
Out comes Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt! Luchasaurus boots Kidman in the face and tosses Corbin over the top rope. He goes after Guevara, but Guevara bails. Luchasaurus grabs Kidman by the throat when the lights go out. They come back on and the entire House of Black, including Malakai Black, is in the ring surrounding Jurassic Express.
The Butcher and the Blade attack Stunt, as Black hits the Black Mass on Luchasaurus and then Jungle Boy. Kidman hits the Seven Year Itch on Jungle Boy. The House of Black stands tall in the center of the ring as the show comes to an end and we get a final promo for the next two weeks: Fight for the Fallen and Summer Smash.
