AEW Dynamite - June 15, 2022
From Mobile, Alabama
Tony Khan comes to the ring, holding a briefcase, and grabs a mic.
Khan - “Thank you for following along with another great episode of AEW Dynamite! I have some extremely exciting news. We are creating a new championship to celebrate our connection with fans across the world - the All-Atlantic Championship!” He opens the briefcase to unveil the belt. “Notice that I didn’t say that we are creating a secondary championship. This belt will be sought after by every wrestler in the back. I look forward to awarding the championship during a special edition of AEW Dynamite on July 20: Fight for the Fallen. Proceeds from that night’s ticket sales will be donated to help families with childhood cancer.
“Fight for the Fallen will be a one-night, eight-man tournament, with the winner being named the All-Atlantic Champion! Participants will be decided over the next few weeks in a series of qualifier matches. Those matches start tonight, as Jeff Cobb will face Jake Hager; and Jungle Boy will take on Eddie Edwards! Good luck! And good night!”
Match 1 - Fight for the Fallen Qualifier
Jeff Cobb (4-2) vs. Jake Hager (2-1)
The two exchange a variety of suplexes before Hager tries wearing Cobb down with submission holds. Cobb wins at 14:38 with a Tour of the Islands to qualify for the Fight for the Fallen tournament.

Match 2 - The New Day (3-2) vs. 5150 (1-1)
The New Day picked up the win at 8:23 after Woods got a small cradle on Rivera. Konnan tried interfering in the match, but Slice Boogie accidentally knocked him off the apron. After the match, Woods grabs a mic.
Woods - “Konnan, man. What is your problem? Are you butt-hurt because Kofi and I are having a little fun at a video game?”
While they’re talking, Homicide and Hernandez come through the crowd and get in the ring. They attack Kofi and Xavier! Homicide hits the Gringo Cutter on Kofi; Hernandez hits a big powerbomb on Woods, and Konnan grabs the mic - “You disrespected me. And if you disrespect me, you disrespect all of LAX. Next week, Homicide and Hernandez are going to teach you a little respect.”
—
Gable Steveson is backstage, talking with Tony Khan.
Gable - “You heard me last week, boss. I’m here to win championships and prove myself. Put me in the Fight for the Fallen, and I guarantee you that I’ll walk away as the first All-Atlantic Champion.”
Tony - “So far, you have proven yourself more than worthy of that shot. I’ll tell you what - next week, you’ve got a qualifier match. You’ll be taking on a veteran of this industry who’s been a little down on his luck lately - Dean Malenko.”
—
Match 3 - Fight for the Fallen Qualifier
Jungle Boy (0-0) vs. Eddie Edwards (1-1)
Jungle Boy gets the win in 6:32 with the Snare Trap. Edwards was slightly distracted because the Steiners were providing guest commentary. After the match, Scott and Rick entered the ring with the championships and stared Eddie down. Scott turned his face and pointed to his jaw, beckoning Eddie to hit him. Edwards just backed away and rolled out of the ring, walking to the back.
—
Match 4 - JBL (1-0) vs. The Hurricane (0-2)
JBL wins with the Clothesline from Hell in 4:49.
–-
A video airs showing Malakai Black standing outside, in the dark. The House of Black members are flanking him, and they all have their hoods up. He stares into the camera.
Malakai - “On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero. Cody Rhodes, your timeline has gone on long enough. Next week, when you are chained to me, I will brutally end your career. I’m not sure why you keep picking fights that you know you can’t win. After next week, you won’t be able to make that mistake again.”
—
Match 5 - Sammy Guevara (2-2) vs. L.A. Park Jr. (0-1)
Sammy picks up the win in 8:21 with the 630 splash. After the match, he grabs a mic.
Sammy - “I am a happy, happy man. You see, a couple weeks ago, I learned that the love of my life, Tay Conti, is All Elite. Soon, she will be in my corner, and I’ll be in hers as she continues to prove that she belongs in professional wrestling. This brings me, however, to my next point - like my girl, I have been underutilized in this business. I am the Spanish god. I should be front-and-center. And I want the chance to prove it. Tony Khan, put me in the Fight for the Fallen tournament!”
—
Main Event - AEW Women’s Championship
Jade Cargill © (3-0) vs. Riho (4-0)
Cargill picked up the win after a great back-and-forth match, with Riho playing the undersized face perfectly. Jade hit her Jaded finisher at 12:21 to retain the championship, then celebrated her win.
Cargill’s celebration was cut off by the same static-filled video from last week, with the unhinged female laughter. The picture is slightly clearer, but still is too fuzzy. It ends in a ticking clock that is slightly closer to midnight. Cut to commercial.
—
Matt Riddle and Jeff Jarrett are in the ring for a final showdown before their match at Road Rager. Riddle grabs the mic first.
Riddle - “Mr. Double J, sir. I’ve had a lot of time to think about my words last week, and I realized that they just weren’t chill enough. I want to observe the Bro Code and give us another chance to make up. So, shake my hand.”
Jarrett - “If I shake your hand, does that mean we aren’t going to fight next week?”
Riddle - “Nah, man. It just means we’ll fight as friends instead of enemies. Like in that movie with dreamy Brad Pitt and Edward Norton-before-he-became-the-scary-Hulk. I think it was about a secret society where they would get into fights. But I forget what it was called, man.”
Jarrett looks at Riddle with a puzzled expression, he doesn’t shake Riddle’s hand, but holds up his finger and smiles. “Hold on a second, Matthew. I actually have a gift for you. I’d like my associate, Shawn Spears, to bring it out.” Riddle gets a big grin on his face as Spears walks out holding two acoustic guitars. One is painted in tie-dye, while the other is tan. He hands both to Jarrett.
Jarrett - “Matt, this gift is a peace offering to you. I understand that you’ve earned your title shot next week. This doesn’t mean I’ll go easy on you. I thought, tonight, for these great fans in Mobile, that you and I could put on a little concert. I think it’ll be a smashing success.”
Riddle grins widely and nods his head. He grabs the tie-dye guitar and strums a little bit. Then he looks at Jarrett, who is swinging the other guitar at him. Jarrett smashes the tan guitar over Riddle’s head, then stands over a KO’d Riddle, holding the AEW World Championship high over his head as the crowd boos. End of show.
