May 25 Dynamite - Live from Phoenix, Arizona
We get the Dynamite intro video, then a recap of recent events - Shawn Spears attacking Jeff Cobb; Dean Malenko laying out Matt Riddle, and Riddle’s challenge; Cobb pinning Andrade and Spears; and Malakai Black’s introduction of the House of Black from last week; and Konnan and Cesar Duran tossing out the challenge for LAX vs. Los Parks at Double or Nothing.
We cut to the ring to find Jeff Jarrett, standing with Shawn Spears. Jarrett has the mic and a big smile.
Jarrett - “This weekend, I will add another jewel to my crown. I am the most well rounded champion in professional wrestling history. Jeff Jarrett’s name has graced the top championships in the NWA, TNA, AAA, the USWA and WCW. And now I am going to add AEW World Champion to that list.” He smirks and pauses before continuing. “As you can see, I have my associate Shawn Spears standing with me in the ring. He is a man who sees the value in attaching himself to a seasoned veteran. Shawn is the future of this business. I am the past and the present. Speaking of that, I’d like to invite my good friend Dean Malenko out here. He and I share a common enemy.” Malenko comes to the ring and Jarrett hands him the mic.
Dean - “You fans here in Phoenix, and watching along from home, should feel privileged to be here witnessing this moment. You are witnessing the best of professional wrestling. And we will have the chance to prove it this weekend at Double or Nothing. I showed everyone two weeks ago that I am not called the Iceman because of my stoic demeanor. I’ve got ice running through my veins, and nobody stands a chance when I’m focused. Matt Riddle? You think you can make me quit? I’ve been making people tap out since you were nary a twinkle in your daddy’s eye.”
Matt Riddle’s music hits, and the Original Bro walks out on-stage with a mic. “Mr. Dean Malenko, sir! I think you have mistaken…mistook…misunderstood?...my laid back demeanor for a lack of toughness. I proved it two weeks ago, and I’ll prove it again this Sunday.”
Jeff Cobb’s music hits and out walks Jarrett’s championship competitor.
Cobb - “Matt! My man. Why don’t we give them their chance to prove it tonight. Let’s team up and wipe the floor with Jarrett and Malenko.”
Riddle - “Jeff Cobb and Matt Riddle in a tag team!? Bro!” He gives Cobb a high five. “I’m feeling some deja vu vibes, man…” and Jarrett interrupts.
Jarrett - “Hold your horses before you get too excited. I’ve got to rest for Sunday’s match. You can test your mettle against Shawn and Dean tonight. And it will be a test.”

Match 1 - Los Parks (L.A. Park & L.A. Park Jr.) w/ Cesar Duran (1-0) vs. 5150 (Slice Boogie & Danny Rivera) w/ Konnan (0-0)
Los Parks wins in 8:28 when Park Jr. pins Rivera.
L.A. Park grabs the mic and walks over to Konnan, standing ringside. “Te voy a poner a través de una mesa.” He drops the mic and Los Parks walk to the back.
Taz - “What did he say?”
Coach - “I’m a little rusty on my Spanish, Taz. But I think he said something about putting Konnan through a table. That’s not going to win them the match…”
—
We are in a gaming room with 2 couches. The Steiners are on one couc, and New Day on the other. They’re holding Nintendo Switch controllers. They’re playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Steiners are playing with sideways Joy Cons. New Day has the Switch Pro controllers.
Scott - “These little things are too damn small. How do you play with these things!?”
Xavier - “That’s the way the game is supposed to be played, Scotty.”
Rick - “Why do you have those bigger controllers?”
Xavier - “Um…we gave you the easier controllers. Just push A to go.”
The race starts. Xavier and Kofi run away with the win. At the end, Scott gets mad and lets out a scream and squeezes the controller until it breaks. Kofi and Xavier cringe.
Kofi - “Uh. We’re up 1-0. We’ll see you in a little bit for the next game.”
Scott - “This time, don’t give us little kiddie controllers!”
—
Match 2 - Michelle McCool & Riho vs. Jade Cargill & Jamie Hayter
Michelle McCool pins Hayter at 8:55 with the Faith breaker, after Cargill walks off.
—
We are backstage with The New Day and the Steiners. Everyone now has Switch Pro controllers. And they’re playing Super Smash Bros.
Scott - “Who is this Shulk? Is she related to the Hulk?” Xavier - “Uh, no.” Scott - “Well tell me who I should be!”
Scott picks Donkey Kong and Rick picks Pac-Man. Xavier chooses Ryu, while Kofi picks Charizard. They play, and Scott and Rick lose quickly; Xavier wins overall.
Scott slams the table. “Dammit! Pick a game we can win.”
Xavier - “Okay, okay. We’ll go old school, back to the N64. WCW/NWO Revenge!”
—
Match 3 - Brian Cage (1-1) vs. Peter Avalon (0-4)
Cage wins after a powerslam at 54 seconds.
Gable Steveson comes out and walks to the ring to stand face-to-face with Cage. They jaw back and forth until Cage shoves Gable, who comes back with a forearm to the face! They exchange a couple more blows until Cage drops and rolls out of the ring and says, “I’ll see you on Sunday!”
—
After the break, Colt Cabana is backstage. “Peter Avalon, our little disagreement has gone far enough. You have cost me too many wins. So we are going to settle this where it all started - on the next episode of AEW Dark! One of us will walk out the victor!”
—
We are backstage for one more game with the Steiners and New Day. They’re playing WCW/NWO Revenge on the N64 and the Steiners pick themselves. The New Day pick Rey Mysterio Jr. and Juventud Guerrera.
Scott - “You’re picking those two pipsqueaks!? Hah! We’ll crush you like ants!”
They play their match, and the New Day wins with Xavier Woods’ Rey pinning Scott after a hurricanrana.
Scott - “You beat me at my own move! Forget this stuff!”
Scott stands and flips the coffee table, then slams the controller down. He starts to go after Woods, but Rick holds him back.
Rick - “Scotty, hold back, man. Let’s save it for the ring. We are the champions where it matters.” Scott nods his head. Then they grab the belts and walk out of the room while Kofi and Xavier look on.
Kofi - “I think we got under their skin.”
Xavier - “I’m…not sure whether that’s a good thing.”
Kofi shrugs and says, “up for another match?” They sit down to play another match of WCW/NWO Revenge. They pick Booker T and Stevie Ray vs. Konnan and Psychosis. They proceed to beat Konnan up mercilessly as we cut to commercial.
—
Match 4 - Cody Rhodes (1-1) vs. The Butcher - if Cody wins, he gets a rematch at Double or Nothing
Cody scores the pin at 6:23 with the CrossRhodes. He grabs the mic afterward.
Cody - “Malakai Black, I have defeated your minion and now I get my rematch. This time, I want to make sure none of your minions can interfere. Malakai Black, I challenge you to a STEEL CAGE match!” Black appears on the screen.
Malakai - “I don’t think you understand what you are asking for. You are electing to trap yourself in a death trap with the man who will end your career. At Double or Nothing, all the chips are on the table. And the American Nightmare will officially be over.”
Match 5 - Jake Hager (1-1) vs. Andrade El Idolo (1-2)
Hager picks up the win in 10:12 after a Swagger Bomb in a back-and-forth match.
Main Event - Jeff Cobb & Matt Riddle vs. Shawn Spears & Dean Malenko
Cobb and Riddle pick up the win after 12 minutes of action when Jarrett attacks. The three beat down Cobb and Riddle when “Watch out, there’s a Hurricane Comin’” hits the speakers, and the superhero runs down. This causes Jarrett, Spears and Malenko to pause briefly, then they start attacking him as well. Spears hits the C4 on Hurricane; Malenko locks in the Cloverleaf on Riddle and Jarrett hits The Stroke on Cobb on a chair. The three then retreat and walk together up the ramp, leaving Cobb, Riddle and Hurricane down in the ring as we get a final promo for Double or Nothing.
