Live from the Carver-Hawkeye Arena at the University of Iowa
Cody - “Tonight has been more than a month in the making. Ever since Malakai Black snuck up and kicked me in the head during the first edition of AEW Dynamite, we have been on a collision course. He has continued to attack me, and has cost me my shot at the AEW World Championship. Get out here, Malakai, so I can show you what a nightmare really looks like.”
Black comes out next and slowly walks to the ring, wearing his antlers on his head. He removes them and smirks at Cody. The black around his right eye has gotten larger since last week, with slight tendrils coming off of it.
Match 1 - Cody Rhodes (1-0) vs. Malakai Black (1-0)
Cody started the match off quickly, then they had a back-and-forth match for about 6 minutes. At that time, 3 masked figures emerged from backstage in robes and surrounded the ring. They each got on the apron, which brought the ref over to one side. Cody went to punch one off of the apron, but that person spit a black mist out and blinded Cody, who turned around into a Black Mass from Black. The 3 figures hopped down from the apron, and Malakai Black scored the pinfall at 7:42. The three figures flanked Black to the back as Rhodes slowly comes to in the ring. He glares toward Black, while Malakai stops on the stage and smirks. The three hooded figures kneel in front of Black and we head to…
Commercial break
Following the commercial, Brian Cage comes to the ring to address the crowd.
Cage - “I am sick and tired of being overlooked in AEW. I am a world championship-caliber wrestler. And I’m going to prove it tonight. I’ve invited a true American hero, and Iowa University alum. Please join me in welcoming the Olympic Gold Medalist, Lou Banach!”
The Olympic theme plays and out walks Lou Banach to a large ovation from the Iowa faithful. He walks to the ring and picks up a microphone.
Lou - “I truly am honored to be invited back to my alma mater. I have many great memories of my time here, and I will always be a Hawkeye. I loved watching that last match, and tonight’s card looks truly great. Unfortunately, Mr. Cage - my wrestling days are behind me. I’m not the man who will make your name for you.”
Out of nowhere, Cage hits a discus lariat, the Tornado Claw. He picks Banach up and hits the F’n5, then lifts Banach into a surfboard to prepare for a curb stomp. This brings Gable Steveson out from the back in a full sprint. Cage drops Banach and rolls out of the ring as Gable slides in to check on Banach. Steveson looks toward Cage with a look of fury as Cage walks to the back, grinning.
Match 2 - Michelle McCool (1-0) vs. Paige VanZant (1-1)
Cargill comes to ringside to watch the match. McCool and VanZant have a good back-and-forth match. VanZant locks in and armbar that almost gets McCool to tap, but Michelle reaches the ropes. Michelle hits the Faith Breaker to get the win at 9:32.
McCool celebrates the win and points at Cargill. Jade stands and lifts the belt high over her head.

Match 3 - Tag title contenders match: The New Day (2-0) vs. LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) (0-1) w/ Konnan
The match starts off with Kofi vs. Homicide for a couple of minutes, until Los Parks comes to ringside. Park Jr. grabs Konnan and starts brawling. The Parks get the upper hand and drag him to the back. Hernandez sees and leaves his corner to chase after them. Homicide notices and runs after them as well. He gets counted out at 4:32, and The New Day win to get the title shot against the Steiners at Double or Nothing.
Kofi grabs the mic - “This isn’t the way we wanted to win this match. Still - The New Day is back in business! Steiner Bros. vs. The New Day is a true dream match. The two biggest tag teams of our respective eras, facing off.
Backstage, LAX is running. They eventually reach Konnan, who is sitting in a chair.
Homicide - “Where’d they go?”
Konnan - “They did what they wanted to. They cost us a shot at the championship. We’ll get back at them.”

After break, Jeff Cobb is in the back. “Nobody has answered my challenge for tonight. Who is man enough to step up to the Eater of Worlds?”
Jeff Jarrett walks up, with Andrade El Idolo. Jarrett - “Jeff Cobb. That just doesn’t sound like the name of a World Champion. You said you wanted a challenge to tune up before we face off in a couple weeks? Here’s your challenge: The man who should have won at Fyter Fest: Andrade.”
Andrade - “Cobb, you have never faced a wrestler like me. I deserve to be in the match against Jeff Jarrett. I had the win in-hand. Tonight, you can find out why I am El Idolo.”
Match 4 - Jake Hager (0-1) vs. Marko Stunt
Hager beats Stunt in 3:15 after a Swagger Bomb.
**Commercial break**
Match 5 - Jeff Cobb (2-0) vs. Andrade El Idolo (1-1)
Cobb wins after a back-and-forth match with the Tour of the Islands at 10:11. After the match, Cobb celebrates, then performs Jarrett’s Strut. He smiles and poses as we go to commercial.
Main Event - Matt Riddle (0-2) vs. Dean Malenko (1-1)
Riddle and Malenko have a great back-and-forth match. Malenko eventually locks in the Texas Cloverleaf, but Riddle is able to push out of it. He hits the Bro-to-Sleep and gets a nearfall. Riddle eventually hits the BroDerek for the win at 13:18. Following the match, Riddle extends his hand to Malenko, but Malenko slaps it away and hits a forearm to Riddle’s face! Malenko keeps up the attack and beats down Riddle, screaming “You were supposed to give up! You’re not better than me. You can’t even lace my boots.”
Malenko hits a DDT, then slides out of the ring and looks under the ring for a weapon. He finds a steel chair and gets back in the ring. Riddle stands and gets clobbered by the chair! Malenko lays the chair down, then lifts Riddle up into suplex position — brainbuster onto the chair, and Riddle is out! Malenko locks in the Cloverleaf and yells at Riddle to give up. Finally, The Hurricane comes from the back along with security to pull Malenko off. He storms to the back as medical professionals attend to Riddle and we go off the air.
