IMPACT WRESTLING
"GENESIS"
ORLANDO, FLORIDA
JANUARY 26, 2020
We start the show with Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borash welcoming fans to the first ever Impact Wrestling broadcast, and thanks them for tuning in.
We then get a rundown of the card and then a video package for the main event.
Both Ken Shamrock and Scott Steiner talk about how they believe they are the most dangerous men in the sport. Shamrock talks about his training and his viciousness, and how he has made grown men wish they were never born. Steiner talks about the trail of bodies he's left in his wake over the years and says the "Big Bad Booty Daddy" is ready to snap tonight on Shamrock and break him in half! Shamrock listens to Steiner say this on tape and says Steiner will snap tonight, but because Shamrock is breaking his body!
FOUR WAY X DIVISION MATCH
Amazing Red vs. Kid Kash vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Syxx-Pac
Fast paced way to start off the show and this was a chaotic ten minutes of action. Pac would use his veteran instincts to pick an opening. Kash looked like he had the win with a Brainbuster, only to have his pin attempt broken up by a Standing SSP from Red. Syxx would come from the apron and fly off the middle rope into the ring with an X Factor on Red to get the win!
WINNER: SYXX-PAC
Backstage, we see LAX, Hernandez and Homicide, coming in with Salinas to the building. They would be greeted by Tama Tonga and Tanga Road, who say they should be prepared to die tonight in that ring! A brawl breaks out, and security has to break it up!
TAG TEAM MATCH
Brit-Am Brawlers: Biff Busick & Danny Burch vs. The North: Ethan Page & Josh Alexander
Really tough, hard hitting match here that got a little sloppy at times but was overall a good showing by both teams. The North would manage to isolate Burch and deliver their finisher to get the pinfall victory.
WINNERS: THE NORTH
We are then treated to a pretaped segment where we get a look at the backgrounds of Ember Moon and Mickie James and their motivations coming into tonight. Moon talks about needing that big opportunity to really breakout, while James says she knows she's the best and has been doing this a long time. James says she's been consistently overlooked and put down, but she can't be denied anymore!
KNOCKOUTS MATCH
Ember Moon vs. Mickie James
Really good athletic and emotional showing from these two, as you could tell both ladies were bringing a lot of fire to this match. James was really showing a mean streak but Moon was just a step ahead, delivering her Eclipse to get the win.
WINNER: EMBER MOON
After the match, Mickie would attack Moon out of frustration and the last shot of her face showed a truly psychotic expression, as she must have snapped after that defeat.
We then go backstage where Nigel McGuinness talks about his road here and his opponent tonight. Nigel praises Zack Sabres ability but says he has more heart and grit to get the job done. We then go to Zack Sabre Jr., who says any man counting him out is full of bullocks and he says you got two over sized meat heads in the main event when the true showman and technical best in standing here and he's going to prove it!
HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH
Nigel McGuinness vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
To call Sabre a heavyweight is pushing it, but he has skills that can triumph over any man, it seems and he has shown it time and again. These two British stand outs went to war for every bit of 20 minutes, both men exhausted by the end, but Sabre was able to reverse a Rebound Lariat by Nigel into a whirlwind of a Cross Armbar in the center of the ring to get the submission win.
WINNER: ZACK SABRE JR.
Backstage, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky get Toni Storm backed into a corner and tell her she is ugly and pathetic, and tell her tonight she's put in her place! Storm says the only thing pathetic is their need to feel better about themselves by pushing people around, but she says it's her time and she's pushing back! Love and Sky then shove Storm but it's Ember Moon who shows up and helps run them off!
X DIVISION FOUR WAY MATCH
CIMA vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Matt Sydal vs. Petey Williams
This match had a little slower pace than the previous four way, but the drama was kicked up a lot. CIMA was so good at playing the heel here and playing spoiler, stopping Sydal and Williams both from getting wins after their finishers and taunting the fans afterwards. Jerry Lynn would manage to catch CIMA with a springboard Tornado DDT, planting him to get the win!
WINNER: JERRY LYNN
We see Shamrock backstage warming up with a trainer, kicking and punching pads and Scott Steiner doing cable curls as these two begin warming up for the big main event!
KNOCKOUTS MATCH
Angelina Love w/ Velvet Sky vs. Toni Storm
Velvet Sky would make her presence felt early, distracting Storm and allowing Love to get the advantage. After helping Love get to the ropes to break a Figure Four, the red through her out! Love would show some actual skill, but seemed disoriented and off her game and Storm was able to take her out with the Tiger Driver to get the pinfall!
WINNER: TONI STORM
Backstage, the interviewer tries to get a word with LAX, but Salinas says they are going to war and they rush out to the ring!
TAG TEAM MATCH
LAX: Hernandez & Homicide w/ Salinas vs. Guerrillas of Destiny: Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa
This was a vicious hardcore battle, as it was clear the referee was instructed to just let these teams have at it! The fans lives the Carnage, as we saw chairs, trash and, and eventually tables get out into play. Homicide would even use a staple gun on Loa after he put his hands on Salinas in a brutal showing! In the end, Hernandez would deliver a brutal Over the Shoulder Powerbomb off the top and through a table to Tonga to get the win!
WINNERS: LAX
Before the next match, we see both men making their way from the locker room with their entourages and this just has a big fight feel. These two have something to prove and are prepared to do it!
HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH
Ken Shamrock vs. Scott Steiner
The crowd was electric to start, as this was really build up like a heavyweight fight for the ages. These two landed big blows early before Shamrock took it to the mat. Steiner showed his strength and wrestling skills, but still had to get to the ropes to break up a leglock. Steiner would get ahold of Shamrock and basically belly to belly him over the ropes and to the outside hard! From there, Freakzilla did a lot of damage, pounding Shamrock in the railings, steps, posts and announce table. Shamrock would go dirty and use a low kick on Steiner, before hitting a German Suplex on the floor!
Back in the ring, Shamrock would try a Huracanrana, but Steiner reversed with a Powerbomb for a two count. Steiner hit a Spinning Belly to Belly for another two count, and then tried for he Recliner, but Shamrock reversed into an Ankle Lock! Steiner would get to the ropes. Shamrock would attack but Steiner would reverse and hit a T Bone Suplex! Steiner would Shamrock on top and tried for a Frankensteiner, but Shamrock head-butted him and slid down, pulling him off and hitting a Running Liger Bomb for a two count!
Shamrock delivers a series of round house kicks to stagger Steiner before hitting a clothesline, followed by a Side Belly to Belly Suplex, but still a two count! Shamrock tries for a Triangle Choke, but Steiner slams his way out of it and tries for the Recliner again, and Shamrock tries to reverse into the Ankle Lock again, but Steiner rolled and booted his way out. Steiner would hit a Steiner Line, followed by a Dead Lift German Suplex!
Both men would stagger up and Steiner would duck a high kick from Shamrock and deliver a boot to the belly and grab him up... Oh my God ... STEINER SCREWDRIVER! NASTY HEAD DROP ON THAT ONE! Steiner gets the cover and it's all over and these fans are on their feet!
WINNER: SCOTT STEINER
Tenay and Borash are putting this math over big as Steiner is foaming at the mouth, yelling about being the baddest and looking like he's going to keep beating Shamrock, who is being checked on by medical staff. The shows comes to an end with Steiner flexing on the middle turnbuckle after what was a great night of pro wrestling.
