AEW Dynamite
August 15, 2019
Live from the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina
AEW Dynamite opens with “Switchblade” Jay White standing in the ring to a chorus of boos from the live audience in Raleigh. White wastes no time grabbing a microphone. He welcomes everyone to AEW Dynamite and claims there’s no better way to start the evening with the Switchblade. He claims that Adam Page is an overhyped cowboy who got into the company based on who he was friends with. White claims that he’s not afraid of Page and come Fyter Fest, he will make him his bitch just like he’s going to do to Adam Page’s handpicked opponent for him tonight.
Match 1
“Switchblade” Jay White v. Ace Romero
Ace Romero is out to the ring to a decent chorus of cheers from the fans. Adam Page is sitting ringside to scout how the Switchblade fares in this contest. This match saw a lot of power from Acey, but the technical prowess of White ended up being too much for the big man to handle. After a missed Pounce from Romero, White quickly nails the Blade Runner for the victory.
Winner: Jay White by pinfall
After the match, Adam Page hits the ring to prove a point and it’s works as Switchblade runs away! Hangman yells at White calling him a coward. White motions that he’s smart and he’s not letting Page lay a finger on him until Fyter Fest. We head to our first commercial of the evening.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We go backstage to find “The Pope” Elijah Burke ready to speak. Coming off the heels of an impressive victory over the National Champion last week, Burke is confident and ready to take his spot towards the top of the card. The Pope brags about defeating Brian Cage so “easily” conveniently leaving out the part where he used a steel chair to secure his victory. The Pope says that Fyter Fest is going to be a great night where “the Machine” stops working and The Pope takes the AEW National Championship.
Match 2
“The Villain” Marty Scurll v. Lance Archer
The crowd was firmly behind Scurll the entire time. Archer dominated more than half the match with his power advantage. Scurll was able to mount a big comeback and nearly get Archer in the crossface chicken wing, but Archer countered with a big boot for a near fall.
The match was interrupted by Joey Ryan who made his way to ringside. Instead of a Blowpop in his mouth, he had a cigarette. He pulled a Blowpop out from his wrestling trunks and threw it in the ring to distract Scurll, which allowed Archer to hit a big powerbomb. With no regard for the match at hand, Ryan entered the ring and began shoving the Blowpop down Scurll’s throat, forcing the ref to call the DQ.
Winner: “The Villain” Marty Scurll via disqualification
Match 3
Tessa Blanchard v. Io Shirai
This match saw Tessa Blanchard really ramp up her intensity heading into her women’s title match at Fyter Fest. Although Io Shirai managed to hit a flurry of impressive signature moves, Tessa Blanchard looked like a machine out there and was able to put away Io Shirai with a very impressive snap DDT driving the head of Shirai straight into the mat.
Winner: Tessa Blanchard by pinfall
After the match, the announcers hype up the upcoming match between Tessa and Beth Phoenix for the AEW Women’s Championship at Fyter Fest.
A vignette for Equal Nation Devastation (E.N.D.) flashes on the screen in the arena. The narrator speaks about the historical oppression that people like Big E, Xavier Woods, and Moose have faced. The narrator promises that soon, All Elite Wrestling will experience a cleansing of injustice and prejudice.
Match 3
Joey Ryan v. Rhino
Although a complete mismatch of styles, this match was entertaining for the live crowd. We saw the usual shenanigans from Joey Ryan, while the intensity of Rhino broke up the more “comedic” antics of Ryan. The match came to an end after Rhino missed a Gore and Ryan hit the quick roll up.
Winner: Joey Ryan via pinfall
After the match, Joey Ryan grabs a mic and tells his opponent at Fyter Fest, Marty Scurll, to be prepared to feel his power. He says that Scurll is nothing but a joke, and that Joey Ryan is the only real man in AEW. He says that tonight, Marty Scurll spit but come Fyter Fest, he'll have no choice but to swallow. Ryan drops the mic and poses leaving the fans disgusted.
Tessa Blanchard is backstage feeling confident after her victory a few minutes ago against Io Shirai. She talks about how she won the battle royal last week and will face Beth Phoenix for the AEW Women’s Championship at Fyter Fest. She also talks about how she made an example out of Io Shirai tonight. She calls Beth an “old lady” and says it’s finally time to take out the trash. She says that she hopes Phoenix enjoyed her little run, because it is coming to an end at Fyter Fest.
Match 4
Tony Nese v. Brian Cage
In an incredibly hard fought contest, both men battled to assert their dominance over the other. It was clear that Tony Nese has stepped up his game. This match saw Brian Cage dominate a majority of the match while Nese actively worked to preserve his stamina in order to gain a late match advantage, which worked. After a failed swinging neckbreaker from Nese, Brian Cage hit a huge Drill Claw! Before Cage was able to secure the victory, Elijah Burke ran out to the ring and began assaulting Cage!
Winner: Brian Cage via pinfall
The drama didn’t stop there as Burke continued to lay it into Cage with referees beginning to swarm the ring. The tension for this National Title feud is reaching a boiling point, and the fans cannot wait to see it play out!

Match 5
The Good Brothers v. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy
The AEW Tag Champs, the Good Brothers, have their sights set on the newest AEW tag team in Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus. After a big win against the Bucks last week, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus have their biggest opportunity yet against the tag champs. This match was incredibly physical with Doc Gallows dominating Jungle Boy until Luchasaurus got the tag in. Luchasaurus’ impressive physical stature at six-foot-five was enough to match big Doc Gallows and gain the advantage with a flurry of strikes and kicks. Karl Anderson tagged in and proceeded to try to get momentum back for his team, but it didn’t work as Luchasaurus kept the advantage. As the match started to wind up, Doc Gallows entered the ring to try to hit a double team move on Luchasaurus but Jungle Boy dropkicked Gallows right out of the ring. Then…
Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus hit their finishing move, the aided Sitout Powerbomb for the HUGE victory over the AEW tag team champions!
Winners: Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus via pinfall
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We come back from commercial break and Kenny Omega’s music hits the arena and the fans rise to their feet as Omega makes his way out to the stage! As a big pyro display goes off, Kenny looks like he means business as he marches down to the ring and grabs a microphone.
“Folks, the world is buzzing about Omega versus Kross and it seems that this feud has captivated the minds of wrestling fans across the world. I want you guys to know that while I love coming out here and entertaining you guys every night, there is something much more important at stake than just the AEW World Championship. Control is at stake. The livelihood of All Elite Wrestling is at stake, and when you have a guy like Killer Kross and his minions holding this company hostage there is bound to be problems.
I’m not a guy who likes to run my mouth, I like to let my actions in this squared circle speak for themselves. However, it is imperative that I stress to you all that AEW is under attack and as long as Killer Kross is holding that world championship, he feels validated - the attacks on guys like Sting, Cody, Goldberg, and the list goes on. Kross feels that he’s done nothing wrong because he has that championship.
But rest assured, retribution is near and as soon as I get the opportunity to take that championship from Kross, that’s exactly what I’m going---”
Omega is cut off by the darkened lights in the arena, as the AEW World Champion Killer Kross appears on the big screen.
“Kenneth, my friend, why are you getting so worked up? Shouldn’t you be preserving your energy for our epic showdown at Fyter Fest?”
Kross chuckles as he continues to speak.
“But that’s just you, isn’t it? You’re an enigma. You crave the spotlight, Kenneth, just like Sting. Just like Cody. Just like Goldberg. And where are they now? Goldberg’s retired. Sting has disappeared. And, hell - Cody and his tramp of a wife couldn’t even stand to be in the same company as me anymore.
Kenneth, this is what I do. This is what motivates me day after day. With life being such an inherently meaningless endeavour, I find pleasure in weeding out the weak links and that’s exactly what you are.”
Kross smiles as the lights begin to flicker in the arena.
IT’S PCO AND BRODY KING! The Kross Kult surrounds Kenny Omega as a satisfied Kross looks on from the big screen. The fans begin to boo viciously as Kenny puts his hands up, ready to fight. PCO and Brody King begin to unleash their attacks on Omega, but Kenny is in top form as he quickly V-Triggers King right out of the ring! PCO goes for a huge lariat, but Kenny ducks…
ONE-WINGED ANGEL ON PCO! The fans begin chanting “Holy Shit” and the arena is erupting! Kross glares at Kenny from the big screen as the fans are still shocked that Kenny just managed to hit the One Winged Angel on a man as large as PCO, indicating that he can also do it to Kross come Fyter Fest. The announcers remind us that the Kross Kult is banned from ringside at Fyter Fest.
It’s clear that The Tollman’s strategy failed - that strategy being to weaken Kenny Omega heading into their showdown at Fyter Fest. Kenny Omega stands tall in the center of the ring staring right back at Kross on the big screen as this action-packed episode of AEW Dynamite fades to black.
Next stop, Fyter Fest...
