AEW Dynamite
May 9, 2019
Live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio
The scene opens up with the AEW Dynamite theme song playing in the background. A huge pyrotechnic display shoots off around the ring and on the stage as the fans in attendance are wild and ready for action! We see various signs in the crowd such as “Bro Me” and “Cage is God.”
“Welcome to AEW Dynamite! I’m Kevin Kelly and joined by, as always, by broadcast colleague Don Callis! We’ve got a great night of action in store for you! In the main event, we will see Killer Kross will take on the man they call STING!”
“Boy oh boy, what a match that’s gonna be! Sting making his in-ring debut in AEW and but you have to wonder if he’ll be able to meet the challenge of Killer Kross who has been on a total rampage of violence as of late. He's unstoppable, Kevin!”
“And keep in mind, Don, that where Killer Kross is, you know that the Kross Kult is nearby which will certainly make things more difficult for Sting in his in-ring debut here tonight on Dynamite. That's enough talking. Let’s take it to the ring for our opening contest! It's gonna be a good one!”
Match 1
Moose v. Rich Swann
Both men enter the arena receiving positive crowd reactions. Moose looks more determined than ever as he stands across the ring from the gifted and athletic Rich Swann. Swann immediately goes on the offense trying to use his speed advantage to get the upper hand. This works briefly, backing Moose into the corner with a flurry of offense. As Swann goes to follow up with a running dropkick, Moose gets out of the way and proceeds to ground and pound Swann. The fans start cheering “Let’s go Swann!” as Moose continues his offensive onslaught. With each brief comeback Swann performs, Moose has a comeback which begins frustrating the fans. Moose begins taunting the audience, telling them that Swann is pathetic. The newfound aggression of Moose is on full display as he works Swann in the corner with chops and kicks. Swann gets another surge of energy hitting an enziguri but it doesn’t take Moose off his feet. Moose quickly recovers, grabs Swann by the wrist, and follows up with a devastating discus lariat. 1, 2 and 3...Moose gets a win at 9:24 in a hard fought contest.
Backstage, the Motor City Machine Guns are hyping themselves up. They talk about how they will be facing two of the best tag teams in AEW, the Young Bucks and the World’s Greatest Tag Team. They make note of the fact that the winner of this triple threat tag team match will secure themselves a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships. They say that this is their chance to shine and come hell or high water they’ll establish themselves as the most elite tag team in AEW.

Umaga’s music hits as the wild-eyed Samoan Bulldozer makes a beeline for the ring. Out next is Mike Elgin to a pop from the crowd as a pyrotechnic display shoots out of the stage. Elgin walks down the ramp and enters the ring, motioning around his waist that he’ll be the next AEW National Champion. Ironically, Brian Cage is sitting ringside to scout Elgin who is the number one contender for the National Championship. The bell sounds and both men collide with a flurry of punches to the head! The crowd is wild as the slugfest continues. It’s Umaga with the upperhand against Elgin with a throat thrust. Elgin fights back and manages to hit a big powerslam on Umaga for the near fall. Elgin works over Umaga but the Samoan Bulldozer’s endurance comes into play as he fights back. Brian Cage quietly observes from ringside as Mike Elgin manages to get Umaga up and hit the Elgin Bomb! Elgin covers and 1-2-3, that’s it! Elgin gets the big win at 8:41 after a back and forth brawl between two powerhouses. After the match, Cage enters the ring and holds his championship up as Elgin and Cage do some trash talking in the middle of the ring.
Once again, we get an exciting video package hyping the arrival of Kenny Omega, who is “coming soon” to All Elite Wrestling.
Match 3
World’s Greatest Tag Team vs. Young Bucks vs. Motor City Machine Guns
All three teams make their entrances to the ring, with the Young Bucks seeming to be the most popular of the teams. The match starts off with Haas and Sabin in the ring, but Haas quickly tags out to Matt Jackson. Jackson smirks as he enters the ring and the action begins! Sabin and Jackson engage in an impressive sequence of chain wrestling with Jackson getting the advantage with a Superkick that pops the crowd. Sabin quickly makes the tag to Shelley, and Matt Jackson tags back in Haas. Shelley and Haas lock up and Haase begins his patented style of technical offense. Both men continue battling with several tags occurring over the next several minutes. In the finishing sequence of the match, it is an exhausted Shelton Benjamin and a fired up Chris Sabin squaring off. Sabin nails several impressive moves including a high-angled dropkick and impactful neckbreaker, but Nick Jackson steals the tag off of Sabin before throwing him out of the ring and hitting a huge Superkick on Shelton Benjamin! A quick cover leads to the 1...2….wait a minute! It’s Sami Callihan! And he’s joined by Dave and Jake Crist - OVE HAS ARRIVED! The bell begins sounding frantically as oVe effectively take down all the participants of this match. At the end of this segment, it’s oVe standing tall making it known that they want those tag team championships.
Matt Morgan is backstage and talks about how there seems to be an ego problem in AEW. He says that Maxwell Jacob Friedman is nothing but a pompous ass who doesn’t know a wristlock from one of his fancy wristwatches. He says money talks, but it’s hard to say a word when you have your teeth knocked down your throat. He warns MJF to check his attitude, or he’ll gladly do it for him.

Beth Phoenix is being interviewed backstage. With a smile on her face, she is proud to announce that the first ever AEW Women’s Champion will finally be determined on next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite! She hypes the match noting that the participants have been determined by the last few weeks, as well as the AEW tour that occured prior to the launch of Dynamite. She says that Gail Kim is impressive, Tessa Blanchard is hungry, but neither of them are a Glamazon. She warns both competitors that during next week’s triple threat, they need to be careful because she is ready to prove that she is the most powerful woman in AEW.
Match 4
Matt Riddle v. Ace Romero
The big man, Ace Romero, is out to the ring first. His impressive size wows the audience as he steps into the ring. Out next is Matt Riddle to a big pop from the crowd. The bell sounds, and both men shake hands as a sign of respect for each other. Riddle attempts to outwrestle Romero, but Romero’s strength is not to be taken lightly as the big man easily launches Riddle across the ring with a big throw. Channeling his inner lightweight, Romero hits a huge dropkick on Riddle, rocking the Bro momentarily. Riddle makes a comeback by hitting an impressive spinning roundhouse kick on Romero, which gets the big man in the corner. Riddle attempts a running knee to the corner, but Romero counters into an STO, reminiscent of a certain Samoan badass. Romero then hits a senton, knocking all the air out of Riddle, but only for a two count. Riddle catches Romero in submission but Romero powers him up and drops him back down with a huge forward falling powerbomb for a near fall. Both men are spent as the crowd chants “this is awesome.” The match concludes with Riddle hitting a huge knee to the jaw, effectively knocking out the big man for the 1-2-3 at 11:09.

Match 5
Killer Kross v. Sting
Killer Kross is out first to a huge chorus of boos from the audience. The Tollman is not alone as the others fill the stage, namely: Brody King, PCO, and “Father” James Mitchell. As the red-colored lights flash in the arena, the Devil of Monterrey enters the ring as the rest of the Kross Kult stand outside cheering their leader. Sting’s music hits and the fans go ballistic! After a few moments and no signs of Sting, Killer Kross begins laughing. He grabs a microphone as Sting’s music dies down. The crowd begins booing as Kross seems to know something they don’t.
“Well, I guess Sting’s not coming out here. So very sad.”
Kross begins laughing as the crowd continues to shower him with boos.
“I continue to explain these things to you, but you simple minded people don’t seem to ever get it. It just never clicks, does it?”
The audience quiets down a bit, listening to the words of Kross with intent. The mystery surrounding Sting’s grows deeper with every syllable uttered by Kross.
“I am here to show you that even your heroes are susceptible to failure, injury, and embarrassment. If you would have listened to me last week, you would have understood that. We know that even the leviathan must sleep. And, in its slumber, you must take advantage and eliminate the target. Cody is your hero, but he wasn’t vigilant and, as a result, he fell. Goldberg, another hero of yours, was living off of your adulation but it wasn’t enough. And Sting?”
Kross strokes his chin as the rest of the Kross Kult stand next to him, each one of the members with a devilish smile on their face.
“Sting won’t be here tonight because Sting is his own worst enemy. Sting has done this before. He’s been a hero for all of you. He would fight evil, promote the greater good... and then he would just...vanish. This is nothing new for Sting and I wouldn’t doubt that, in time, you all come to know Sting for the man he truly is.”
Kross looks around the arena as the boos begin to come down again. He just shakes his head and smirks, annoyed with the fans.
“SO WHAT NOW? That’s the question. Not an ideal start for a roster that is supposed to be this mighty elite force, huh? Under my watch, they will all continue to fall until there is no one left. And, maybe...just maybe... I’ll even take the AEW World Championship while I’m at it.”
The rest of the Kross Kult begin cheering and laughing as Kross looks to them with a sinister grin on his face. The crowd is growing resentful towards Kross as he continues to portray himself as an unstoppable force.
And then…
“OH. MY. GOD.”
It’s KENNY OMEGA!
Killer Kross and the rest of the Kross Kult look on from the ring. Kross raises his eyebrows as a confused look grows across his face. Kenny Omega sprints to the ring and the Kross Kult quickly retreats. The crowd goes absolutely nuts!
“KENNY OMEGA IS HERE! AND HE’S GOT HIS SIGHTS SET ON KILLER KROSS AND HIS CRONIES!”
Omega slides into the ring as the Kross Kult circle the ring and head towards the ramp. Kenny Omega looks around and the “KENNY” chants are deafening, even over his theme music. Kenny nods and smiles as he looks at Kross and Co. retreating.
“Killer Kross has finally met his match! Ladies and gentlemen, things are about to get good!!”
"You have GOT to be kidding me! Kevin, this is INCREDIBLE!"
"You have GOT to be kidding me! Kevin, this is INCREDIBLE!"
Kenny Omega stares down the Kross Kult as a look over frustration grows over the face of Killer Kross. The enigmatic Kenny Omega refuses to break eye contact with Kross who kicks the stage out of frustration. James Mitchell directs Kross to relax and head backstage.
AEW Dynamite comes to a close with Kenny Omega standing tall, much to the delight of the audience.
