Commentary Team: Matt Striker and Vampiro
Ring Announcer: Melissa Santos

We open to a shot of the LA city skyline at night, as seen from atop the roof of the Temple. Prince Puma stands along the top of the roof, holding onto the building’s smoke stack, a remnant of its past as an old industrial factory. A black car drives into the ball alley and pulls to a stop. Dario Cueto emerges from the car, which then drives away. Cueto stares into the darkness beyond the streetlight and announces that he has a proposition for “you” – a chance to make the gods proud. A moment later, Pentagon DARK steps out of the dark and into the light. He says he doesn’t care about pleasing the gods, rather he only cares about pleasing himself and what he wants is a match against Dario’s brother for the Lucha Underground Championship. Cueto says that word of his loss to Eddie Guerrero reached him in the hospital, so he knows that he hasn’t earned it. However, he is prepared to give him a second chance. Although he doesn’t care about making the gods proud, Cueto wonders if a chance to win the Gift of the Gods might chance his tune. Pentagon shows interest in this proposal. Cueto tells him to come talk with him and together they vanish into the darkness, as Prince Puma looks on from high above.

Loser Leaves Town Match

Loser Leaves Town Match
Heath Slater vs. Mascarita Sagrada
Mascarita Sagrada defeated Heath Slater by pinfall to win the loser leaves town match. The Lucha Outcasts – Heath Slater, Mascarita Sagrada, and Heath Slater – were in the ring for an announced trios match. However, before their opponents were announced, Sgt. Slaughter came to the ring and called Slater a useless maggot for befriending luchadores, so he said that the House of Wrestling had decided to terminate his contract. Slater begged and pleaded for them to reconsider because he’s got kids, damnit!
The Sarge thought about it for a moment and offered him a chance to keep his job, but he would have to prove his worth as a wrestler. So he told him that they were going to have a loser leaves town match where he’d have to beat a luchador to keep his job. Then, as a twist, he announced that his opponent would be Mascarita Sagrada! Furthermore, he said that if Mascarita Sagrada lost, he’s be banished from the House of Wrestling. Mascarita Sagrada wanted nothing to do with this match, but the Sarge told him that refusing to compete would get all three of the Lucha Outcasts banished from the Temple. Then, to make it hard on Cheeseburger, he gave him the guest referee job!
Slater didn’t feel right about competing against his friend but he really needs this job to feed his kids. Meanwhile, Mascarita Sagrada was incredibly conflicted. The two of them competed for about 7-8 minutes before Mascarita Sagrada nailed Slater with a tornado DDT that looked like it finished the match. Mascarita Sagrada pinned his friend but then got up at the count of two and laid down in the middle of the ring. He was doing the right thing for Slater (have we mentioned he has kids?).
However, when he went for the pin, The Real Americans struck, breaking up the pin. Cheeseburger signaled for the bell, but he was attacked for his call. Mr. America grabbed the microphone from Melissa Santos and announced that there were no disqualifications. Then, he joined the fray and gave everyone running leg drops before putting Mascarita Sagrada on top of Heath Slater and then all four Real Americans counted the pinfall in unison. When they were finished, they spray-painted #MWGA on Slater, Cheeseburger and Mascarita Sagrada.

Will Ospreay vs. PJ Black
Will Ospreay vs. PJ Black
Will Ospreay defeated PJ Black by pinfall to finally win his first match in the Temple. This was a great match to open the show. It featured equal parts high-risk, high-flying offense, and low-risk, technical submission holds. Both luchadores brought their A-games, and the fans responded appreciatively with a “This is awesome!” chant after Ospreay performed a springboard twisting frankensteiner, taking Black off the outside of the turnbuckle rungs and onto the ring apron! Although he took a hard bump there, Black rebounded and executed a sit-out powerbomb on Ospreay that nearly kept him down to the count of three. As that move failed to win it, he had to back to the top turnbuckle to attempt a 450-splash, but Ospreay moved. After another sequence of back-and-forth moves, Ospreay executed the Storm Breaker and pinned Black for the win.

Mascarita Sagrada and Cheeseburger are in the Lucha Underground locker room having a conversation about how they would love to run the Real Americans out of the Temple forever. Not only did they spend the entire offseason stuffed into one of these very lockers, but now they’ve caused their friend, Health Slater to be banished from the Temple! Suddenly, the luchadores who freed them appear. Paul London, Saltador, and Mala Suarte run up to Mascarita Sagrada and kneel down before him as London offers him his Ancient Aztec Medallion and in return they wish for him to impart upon them some of his vast wisdom. Mascarita Sagrada reminds them that he is not the White Rabbit and tells them that he cannot in good conscious take their gift as something as precious as this medallion should not be held by one who hasn’t earned it. The members of the Rabbit Tribe view his statement as irrefutable proof that he is the White Rabbit and state that they are forever grateful for his wisdom. Before anything more happens, Juventud Guerrera appears and tells Mascarita Sagrada and Cheeseburger that he just found out what happened to them earlier in the evening, and says that if they’re interested in getting a little bit of payback, they should come with him. They are definitely interest, so they go with him, and The Rabbit Tribe, although uninvited, decides to follow close behind.

Courtney Rush vs. Sexy Star
Courtney Rush vs. Sexy Star
Sexy Star defeated Courtney Rush by submission. The bitter luchadora who was once a fan favourite seemed to have her emotions under control during the first couple of minutes until she found herself in a battle on the ring apron with the newcomer. There, she was the victim of a northern lights suplex! Rush had control of the match for the next little while, but Sexy Star regained it and went loco on her, hitting her with multiple chairs on the outside of the ring and slamming her face into the turnbuckle post more than once. Rush’s forehead was split open, and was later made to submit to the cross armbreaker. Although Rush tapped out, Sexy Star refused to let go until a popping sound was picked up by the ring mic, which in turn caused Rush to let out a loud shriek. Matt Striker and Vampiro speculated that Sexy Star had deliberately ripped Rush’s arm out of her socket as she received a chorus of boos from the Believers while celebrating her victory.

The Real Americans enter the ring with the Gift of the Gods belt clamped into a display tripod. They announce that tonight’s main event will by a gauntlet match for the Gift of the Gods and say that every luchador who holds one of the Seven Ancient Aztec Medallions must now come to the ring to place their medallion into the belt and draw a number to determine when they will compete in the gauntlet.
However, before any of the holders of an Ancient Aztec Medallion emerges from one of the Temple’s entrances, El Jefe appears! Dario Cueto is back in the building, standing at the top of the Temple stairs. He makes a crack about how groups luchadores and other unwelcomed elements keep trying to usurp power away from him and think that, somehow, they’ll finally be the ones who can make Dario Cueto go away and never come back. However, they’re all wrong because no one else is smart enough or powerful enough to take control of Dario Cueto’s Temple!
The Real Americans believe that they have what it takes to scare off Cueto because they are American wrestlers, and that makes them better than any luchador that there has ever been. Cueto, tells them they are wrong, and to prove it, he says that they’re going to have a one-on-one match right now for the Ancient Aztec Medallion that is currently in the possession of Mr. America. If Mr. America wins, he can keep it and compete for the Gift of the Gods, but if he loses, then his opponent will take the Medallion and his place in the match to decide who will be the next Gift of the Gods.
It’s Pentagon DARK and he has CERO MIEDO!
Cueto reveals his next trick by announcing that this will be a lumberjack match and that all the lumberjacks will be armed with kendo sticks! Fénix, Drago, Aero Star, Psicosis, Super Crazy, Juventud Guerrera, Mascarita Sagrada, Cheeseburger, Paul London, Saltador, and Mala Suarte appear from both entrances and rush the ring, where they use their kendo sticks on Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, and The Patriot.

Lumberjack Match for
One of the Seven Ancient Aztec Medallions
Pentagon DARK vs. Mr. America
Eventually, the attack drove them away from the ringside area, leaving Mr. America alone in the ring with Pentagon DARK, who he did not take as a serious thread. However, right out of the gate, Pentagon attacked with stiff kicks to Mr. America’s hamstrings, and open-palm chops to the chest. Pentagon also made a point of quickly throwing Mr. America out of the ring where he become the victim of dozens upon dozens of kendo stick shots to his torso. The periodic attacks by the lumberjacks helped Pentagon considerably as he conducted a slow and methodical dissection of Mr. America, which eventually culminated in him executing his package piledriver finisher. However, Mr. America kicked out of iit at the count of two and hulked up for a big comeback that culminated in a running leg drop. While that might have been the end of the match had it been Hulk Hogan who hit the move, it wasn’t after Mr. America hit it. True to his claim that he has CERO MIEDO Pentagon showed great resiliency in kicking out of the move.
Mr. America went for another bodyslam, but Pentagon slipped out the back side and performed his Cero Miedo hand gesture right in Mr. America’s face. Mr. America went ballistic, but Pentagon responded to each of his attacks with one in kind, eventually dropping Mr. America with a pair of slingblades. Mr. America appeared to be in a bad spot when The Patriot, Jim Duggan, and Sgt. Slaughter rushed back out with a wrestler’s favourite weapon – the steel chair. They attacked Pentagon DARK. The luchadores with kendo sticks entered the ring and attacked them and Mr. America. Through the madness of it all, a steel chair was dropped by Duggan when he took a chair shot after Drago sprayed mist into Sgt. Slaughter’s eyes causing him to miss his target. Pentagon DARK took advantage by climbing to the top rope, jumping off and executing a Mexican destroyer onto the steel chair! He then made the quick pin. 1-2-3! Pentagon DARK did the unthinkable by defeating Mr. America and winning his Ancient Aztec Medallion. Now, he’ll go on to compete for the Gift of the Gods!
