Chris Jericho defeated Juventud Guerrera by submission. This was an exciting match that saw Juventud get the fans solidly behind him with many exciting maneuvers, including a diving hurricanrana outside of the ring, a somersault leg drop, a springboard shooting star press and a tornado DDT on the ring apron. Jericho helped Juventud in his cause to win over the fans, as he quickly got on their bad side by racking Juvi’s eyes, slapping him in the face and pinning him with a foot on his chest while doing a flexing pose. Jericho also incited the boots to boo them by calling them idiots. Despite all of Juventud’s exciting moves, Jericho kicked out of all pinfall attempts, or at least got a foot on the bottom rope. In the end, Jericho won the match by countering a second diving hurricanrana attempt into a fold-up powerbomb that he immediately turned over into the Lion Tamer.

Ivelisse defeated Beth Phoenix by pinfall. These luchadoras were briefly united in their disdain for Charlotte Flair, but had a falling out when they teamed together in a four corners tag team match on Episode 23. Here, they had a match that showed that both competitors have considerable fighting spirit. However, as the contest grew long, Ivelisse became frustrated and started bending the rooms, just as Charlotte had done to beat her. After escaping a military press and nailing Phoenix with a savate kick, Ivelisse used a jackknife cover and put her foot against the second rope for added leverage. Although Phoenix tried to kick out, the dirty tactic was enough to keep her shoulders on the mat to the count of three. As Ivelisse left the ring to celebrate, Phoenix protested the decision to no avail.

Rey Mysterio Jr. is training in the Temple gym when suddenly the lights flicker and shut off for a moment. When they come back on, Catrina is facing him. She tells him that Mil Muertes is very upset that Mysterio cost him the Gift of the Gods. Mysterio says that it was only fair for costing him the Lucha Underground Championship. He asks Catrina why he was targeted when they have never crossed pathes before. The lights flicker and when they come back on, she stands behind him, puts her hands on him, and circles around to look him in the eye. She replies that it is because he possesses a great power that Mil Muertes wants. Mysterio separates himself from her while asking what that might be. She says that his power is a great mystery, but it is what makes him the greatest luchador in the living world, and it is that mysterious power that Mil Muertes wants. She tells him that it is only in death that Mil Muertes will assume his power, and so a thousand deaths are coming for him. Then, the lights flicker off, and when they come back on, Mysterio is alone in the room.

PJ Black defeated Aero Star by pinfall. This was a grudge match that has been long in the making (this story arc goes all the way back to the first episode of Lucha Underground). Aero Star was out to get a measure of revenge for PJ Black giving him to Pentagon Jr. to break his arm. However, he was not out to do it in an eye-for-eye kind of way. Aerostar was looking to do it the more dignified way by defeating him straight up in a one-on-one contest. Aero Star was exciting as ever. One sequence that saw him give the Dare Wolf a Déjà vu double spinning headscissors takedown followed by a basement dropkick to the chest and a springboard frog splash came within an inch of the referee’s hand hitting the mat for a third time before Black got a shoulder up. Later, Aero Star went for an imploding 450 splash, but Black rolled out of the ring. He leaned over by the ring apron for a long time, giving the impression that he might be injured. When Aero Star went out to get him, Black turned around and cracked a kendo stick over his forehead. Black choked Aero Star with the kendo stick and used it to give him a side Russian legsweep. After that, Black returned Aero Star to the ring where he gave him a spin-out powerbomb. To his credit, Aero Star kicked out the pinfall count. However, after that, Black gave him the Black Diamond and then a 450 splash to get the win.

Cesaro versus Ultimo Dragon ended in a no contest when Chris Jericho showed up five minutes into the match to attack both wrestlers, robbing the Believers of the exciting Lucha Underground Championship rematch (see Episode 15 for their first bout) that they expecting to get. Jericho, who has become bitter enemies of both the champion and the challenger, entering the ring with a chair in his hands and liberally swung it at both competitors. When he was satisfied that they were both knocked down and out, he went outside to get some tables and slid them into the ring. He also produced a large draw-string bag that he opened. He walked around the ring dumping thumbtacks all over it. Then, he set up the tables. One at a time, he grabbed Cesaro and Ultimo Dragon and powerbombed them through a table into a bed of thumb tacks! After that, he glanced over at the timekeeper’s position and his eyes locked on the Lucha Underground Championship. Jericho left the ring, ripped the microphone out of Melissa Santos’ hands and said, “Neither of these ass clowns deserves to be Lucha Underground Champion. Only I do! I’m the best in the world at what I do, do you understand what I am saying to you right now?” Then, he threw the microphone at her, grabbed the belt and walked out of the Temple with it in his arms.

Programming note: Next week, Eddie Guerrero will be in action when he gets his rematch against Tyler Breeze. Hopefully, this time, he won’t get thrown face first through Dario Cueto’s office window by “Macho King” Randy Savage. Plus, there will be a big ten-man tag team main event featuring Rey Mysterio Jr., Prince Puma, Kurt Angle, Fénix and Matt Sydal versus Mil Muertes, Baron Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura, La Parka and Psicosis. Tune in to see those matches and more on the next episode of Lucha Underground!
