We begin this week’s show inside of the office of Dario Cueto. He’s busy writing some notes into a large book, when suddenly, he hears a knock on the door and says, “Come in!” He looks up from what he is doing and has a look of surprise come over him. He invites his guest to sit down and asks him to what he owes the honour. The camera pans across the desk to reveal that the “Latino Heat” Eddie Guerrero is in the Temple!
Guerrero tells Dario Cueto that he heard there was an open invitation to compete in Aztec Warfare, tonight, and since he was in the neighbourhood, he could not resist the thought of coming here to re-establish himself as the greatest luchador in the world by winning Aztec Warfare, thus earning a match against Brock Lesnar and then going onto to face him at Ultima Lucha and winning the Mash-Up World Championship just like he beat him for the WWE World Championship once upon a time in a wrestling universe far, far away. Cueto tells him that he’s welcome to compete in his Temple any time, but unfortunately, he got here about five minutes too late because he’s already filled up all twenty spots in the match. Cueto welcomes him to come back next week and compete in any match he wants. Guerrero says that all he wants is to win the Mash-Up World Championship. Cueto tells him that he’s out of luck on that front because the only way into the match is to have a number and he gave them all out already. Latino Heat ends up leaving, rejected from competing in Aztec Warfare.

Tonight’s action starts with a pair of legends as Kurt Angle enters the match in the first spot and Shinsuke Nakamura is number two. The Olympic Gold Medalist squares off with the King of Strong Style. They spend the first 90 seconds of the match receiving equal amounts of fan support while they grapple and chain wrestle their way to a stalemate.
Arn Anderson enters the match next and that immediately changes things up and he starts throwing his weight around, pummeling both Angle and Nakamura at will. He sends Nakamura out to the floor with a stiff clothesline and sends Angle flying from the ring with a back body drop over the top rope. Heenan’s man exits the ring and whips Nakamura into the half-wall holding up some of the Temple’s high-rise stands.
Pentagon Jr. comes out next and as he turns in his ticket to enter the match, he sees Angle and immediately drops him with a sling blade on the arena floor. Pentagon Jr. keeps up his attack with some open palm chops to the chest that echo throughout the arena. Nakamura and Anderson go back into the ring and Anderson plants Nakamura into the mat with a running powerslam. He pins Nakamura for a 2-count.
The fifth man into the match is Prince Puma, who is not accompanied by “Classy” Freddie Blassie. The moment he enters the ring, the action picks up. Anderson tries to send Puma out of the ring right away, but he lands on the ring apron and then sends Anderson to the floor with a vertical suplex. Nakamura runs over for a high knee strike, but Puma ducks and pulls the top rope down, causing Nakamura to fall to the floor. Puma waits for Anderson and Nakamura to get up and then takes them both out with a springboard moonsault from the top rope!
Tyler Breeze is out next, but when he gets to the bottom of the stairs, he is stopped by the referee. He wants his ticket to enter the match. Breeze doesn’t have it and just tells him to get out of the way. The other referees come over and block him from getting into the match. Breeze heads back up the stairs, angry as can be.
La Parka is the next man to enter the match. The Chairman of the Temple swings his chair at everyone and everything in sight. La Parka clears the ring, then opens his chair and starts dancing on the seat. Prince Puma climbs to the top turnbuckle and then leaps off of it, taking La Parka off his chair with a diving hurricanrana!
It’s time, it’s time, it’s VADER time! The Mastodon enters the ring and destroys everyone in sight. La Parka eats a stiff clothesline. Prince Puma gets a three-point tackle. Pentagon Jr. is lifted up into a military press and thrown out of the ring on top of Angle, Anderson and Nakamura.
Big Ryck has the ninth ticket to enter the match and as he hands it to the referee, he gets attacked from behind by Son of Havoc! He comes running down the stairs and nails him with a hard clothesline to the back of the head. Son of Havoc smashes Ryck’s face off the ring post and then rolls him into the ring. He climbs to the top rope and gives Ryck a shooting star press! Mr. Cisco and Castro Cortez run out and chase Son of Havoc out of the arena.
Meanwhile, the tenth entrant in the match is Heath Slater, baby! This is his first appearance in Lucha Underground and as soon as he enters the ring, he sees Big Ryck trying to get up to his feet. Slater grabs him and executes the Smash Hit (spinning DDT)! He pins him. 1…2…3! Big Ryck is out of the match. Slater gets up and celebrates like only he can, but then he gets leveled with a hard tackle from Vader, who then drags him into the corner and gives him the Vader Bomb! 1…2…3! Thanks for coming, Heath Slater, but you’ve just been eliminated, baby!
PJ Black is the next man into the match and he comes into the ring and pairs off with La Parka. This is one of the moments in the match, when the luchadors all go airborne. Nakamura flies from the turnbuckle and takes Anderson out with a diving clothesline. Then, La Parka nails Nakamura with a suicide dive. Pentagon Jr. drops him with a running somersault senton bomb from the ring to the floor. Moments later, Black takes everyone out with a springboard crossbody.
Fénix is the twelth man to enter the match. As he comes down the to the ring, Prince Puma does a springboard shooting star press into the crowd on the floor. As Fénix enters the ring and sees the crowd piled up on the outside, he runs over and steps on the second rope to springboard into the pile with a corkscrew somersault senton! Next, Kurt Angle climbs to the top rope and does a moonsault into the pile! The last man standing is Vader. He eyes up the pile from just inside the ropes. The fans cheer for him to go for it, but as he gears up to go, the buzzer sounds.
And Samoa Joe is standing at the top of the stairs. Joe points at Vader and comes down to the stairs. Vader keeps his attention on Joe and the moment he enters the ring, the Mastadon and Samoan Submission Machine get into a sparing match. Neither man gives any ground. They headbutt each other and that does not take either of them down. Neither one ends up winning the bout, as Fénix and Black take both of them out with missile dropkicks.
Psicosis is the fourteenth man to enter the match. He comes down and gets into it with Pentagon Jr. Back in the ring, there are a few eliminations. Vader gives La Parka a powerbomb and then a standing splash to get a 3-count. La Parka’s night is over. Moments later, Samoa Joe sees Anderson running at him and drops him with the ST-Joe Slam and then puts him in the Coquina Clutch. There’s no escape for him as Vader is being double-teamed by Angle and Nakamura. Arn Anderson has been eliminated.
Tully Blanchard draws the fifteenth position. He enters the match as Samoa Joe lays into Angle and Nakamura. Vader knocks Joe out of the ring with a clothesline. Blanchard attacks Joe right away and Vader comes to help him. Back in the ring, Fénix gives Black a wicked superkick, but then he receives a lung blower from Pentagon Jr., who then puts him in position to have his arm broken. Fortunately for Fénix, Nakamura drills Pentagon Jr. with the Bomaye and then pins him. 1…2…3! Pentagon Jr. has been eliminated.
Coming into the match in the sixteenth spot is Argenis, who gets into an exchange with Fénix. They trade kick and strike attempts, but block each other’s moves. Black superkicks Fénix out of the ring and then Argenis dumps Black outside and takes him down with a plancha. Psicosis drops into the pile with a springboard corkscrew crossbody.
Ultimo Dragon draws number seventeen. It’s a great spot for him to come in and he wastes no time coming into the match and attacking Psicosis with a Dragon Combo before giving him a tombstone piledriver. However, he can’t pin him as Fénix hits him with a basement dropkick and then knocks him down with an enzuigiri kick. Fénix is sent for a wild ride of triple German suplexes by Angle. When Angle gets up, he’s given an atomic drop, a single foot dropkick and then a running senton bomb by Samoa Joe, who covers him for a long 2-count.
Entering at number eighteen is Matt Sydal. He enters the ring and squares off with Psicosis. Sydal knocks Psicosis out of the ring with a roundhouse kick and then takes him out with a suicide dive. However, as soon as he gets up, Vader grabs him and throws him three rows deep into the seats at ringside. Meanwhile, Argenis’ night comes to an end when Angle grabs him from behind and gives him an Angle Slam and then pins him for the easy 1-2-3.
Entering the match in the nineteenth spot is Famous B. He comes into the ring and goes right after Nakamura, who gives him a combo of stiff shoot kicks from Nakamura, who then drops Famous B with a headbutt. Next, he gives him the Bomaye and pins him. 1…2…3! Famous B has been eliminated. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ring, Angle gives Black the Angle Slam! 1…2…3! PJ Black has been eliminated. Tully Blanchard attacks Angle and gives him a slingshot suplex that sends him out of the ring. When Blanchard gets up, Prince Puma drills him with a superkick and then gives him the 2-point Benadryller and pins him. 1…2…3! Surprisingly, Tully Blanchard is out of the match.
As we prepare for our final contestant to enter the match, the competitors remaining in the match are (in order of their entry): Kurt Angle (1), Shinsuke Nakamura (2), Prince Puma (5), Vader (8), Fénix (12), Samoa Joe (13), Psicosis (14), Ultimo Dragon (17), and Matt Sydal (18).
Entering the match in the very last spot is none other than, Chris Jericho. He receives one of the worst receptions of the night. He takes his time walking down the stairs before handing the referee his ticket. Jericho makes an instant impact by coming into the ring and giving Psicosis a one-handed bulldog and then the lionsault. He pins. 1…2… kick out! Next, he gets into a chop battle with Fénix, who gains a bit of separation before trying to hit Jericho with a superkick. Jericho blocks it and gives him a Codebreaker. As he gets up to go for the pin, he stops and looks out towards the crowd. The entire audience starts to make noise and everyone in the ring and at ringside stops what their doing as they look to the top of the arena steps. It’s Eddie Guerrero!
Latino Heat shouts out “Viva la raza!” and then makes his way down the stairs. He looks directly at the camera and pulls a ticket out of his tights. It’s marked with the number six. Eddie Guerrero stole Tyler Breeze’s ticket to participate in Aztec Warfare! Guerrero turns it into the referee, enters the ring, and charges at Jericho. He tries to give Guerrero a flapjack, but Guerrero turns in mid-air and dropkicks Jericho down. He backs Jericho into the ropes with a series of jabs and chops before sending him out of the ring with a clothesline.
Now, everyone else gets back to fighting. Psicosis tries to attack Guerrero and gets the Three Amigos for his trouble. Guerrero gives him the frog splash and pins him. 1…2…3! Psicosis has been eliminated. A few more minutes pass before Vader trips up Sydal as he climbs the top turnbuckle and then squashes him with a Vader Bomb. 1…2…3! Matt Sydal is out of the match. Not long after that, Jericho executes a Codebreaker on Aerostar and pins him for the 1-2-3 to eliminate him.
A little bit later, Prince Puma climbs the turnbuckle and goes for a diving hurricanrana on Vader, he counters it with a powerbomb! He cradles for the pin. 1…2… Prince Puma gets a shoulder up! Vader questions the referee’s count and as he does this, Angle sneaks up from behind and gives him an Angle Slam! 1…2… kick out! Angle can’t believe it. He decides to take a high risk by climbing the turnbuckle and going for a moonsault. Vader rolls out of the way and then Angle ends up receiving an Asai DDT from Ultimo Dragon. 1…2…3! Kurt Angle has finally been eliminated.
As Ultimo Dragon gets up, he is hit with a flying forearm from Jericho, which knocks him out of the ring. When Jericho gets up, he takes a stiff knee to the face from Nakamura, who then gives him an inverted exploder suplex! Nakamura lines up Jericho for the Bomaye, but as he is waiting for Jericho to start to get up from the canvas, Samoa Joe slides into the ring from behind and puts Nakamura in the Coquina Clutch. He brings him to the mat and locks body scissors on him. Nakamura eventually goes unconscious and so he is eliminated from the match.
Ultimo Dragon, Fénix and Vader are going at it on the floor, while Jericho attacks Joe inside the ring. Jericho gets shoved down. Latino Heat returns to the fight by nailing Joe with a missile dropkick to the back, causing him to fall through the ropes and out to the floor. Jericho is all alone is in the ring until Fénix comes in and levels him with a springboard hurricanrana. Fénix climbs the top rope and as Jericho starts to sit up, he dives off the turnbuckle and nails with a double knee drop to the chest! Fénix pins him, but Jericho kicks out at the count of two. Then, Ultimo Dragon climbs up to the rope and executes a Cancun Tornado. He pins him. 1…2… shoulder up! Then, Guerrero flies off and lands a frog splash! Chris Jericho is out of the match.
Vader comes back into the ring and destroys Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon and Fénix with clotheslines and other power moves. Prince Puma climbs the top rope and Vader trips him up. With Puma knocked down to the top rope, Vader pulls on his arm and then rocks him with a short-arm clothesline that sends him off the top rope and down to the floor. Ultimo Dragon traps Vader in the corner with his Dragon Combo of kicks. Fénix charges in and drills Vader with a running, jumping knee lift that takes Vader off his feet. Ultimo Dragon drags him out of the corner and pins him, but Vader kicks out. Guerrero attacks Ultimo Dragon from behind and throws him out of the ring, then receives a hard superkick from Fénix! Fénix climbs the turnbuckle, but as he does, he gets a CCS Enzuigiri from Samoa Joe, who then grabs him and executes the Muscle Buster! 1…2…3! Fénix is eliminated.
Samoan Joe and Guerrero exchanges blows. Guerrero gets the best of the exchange and runs to the ropes, but then receives a Samoan drop! As he gets up, Prince Puma takes Joe down with a springboard clothesline. Puma waits for Joe to get back to his feet, but gets nailed from behind by Vader. He goes for a powerbomb, but Puma slips out the back, then gives Vader a few right hands before getting turned around by one stiff shot from Vader. But then Puma gives him a Pelé kick that knocks him through the ropes and onto the floor. Puma gets up and sees Ultimo Dragon springboarding off the top rope and counters whatever he’s attempting with a cutter! As Puma gets up, Joe grabs him from behind and gives him a rolling German suplex transition into a dragon suplex followed by a bridging X-Plex! 1…2…3! Prince Puma is eliminated.
As Ultimo Dragon gets up, Joe charges at him and gets taken down a standing hurricanrana. Ultimo Dragon turns to run to the ropes, but runs right into a titl-a-whirl backbreaker from Guerrero. He grabs Ultimo Dragon and gives him a belly-to-back suplex, then runs over and dropkicks Joe into the turnbuckle. Guerrero goes out to the ring apron, but before he gets to the corner, he sees Ultimo Dragon getting up, so he gives him a springboard tornado DDT! Guerrero pins for a long 2-count. Then, he gets nailed with a running tackle from Vader, knocking him out of the ring. Vader turns his attention to Ultimo Dragon, giving him a standing splash. He drags him to the corner and executes a Vader Bomb! 1…2…3! Ultimo Dragon is eliminated.
Vader gets up and sees Samoa Joe standing in the other corner. They stare each other down for a few moments, drawing a huge reaction from the crowd. These two heavyweights charges at each other and knock each other over with a double shoulder tackle. They get up and strike each other with thunderous blows. As they battle back-and-forth, Guerrero is getting to his feet, outside the ring. He is attacked by Tyler Breeze! He’s infuriated about losing his spot in the match. All of the referees have to come over to deal with Breeze. They are pre-occupied with him long enough for Guerrero to grab a steal chair and do some more lying, cheating and stealing. He enters the ring and rains chair shots down on his much larger opponents. He throws the chair away and makes like nothing happened. Breeze has gone back up the stairs, but runs back down and shoves Guerrero off the top turnbuckle before he could go for a frog splash. Breeze finds a chair and hits Guerrero with it a few times, then tosses it into his hands and delivers a Beauty Shot that sends the chair into his face! Breeze throws Guerrero into the ring, where Vader squashes him with a standing splash and pins him. 1…2…3! Eddie Guerrero is eliminated.
Down to the final two, Vader and Joe spend the next few minutes trading blows and countering each other’s high impact offense. Joe makes the mistake of going for an Irish whip. It is reversed and Vader gives him a spinebuster. He covers for a 2-count. Vader goes to the top rope and attempts a moonsault, but Joe rolls out of the way. When they both get back to their feet, Joe hits Vader enough times to back him into the ropes and then knocks him out of the ring with a running clothesline. Next, Joe asks for fans to clear out of their seats before giving Vader a suicide dive and sends him into the wooden chairs at ringside. Joe tries to bring Vader back to the ring, but then Vader slams his face off the ring apron and then drills his face into the turnbuckle post, busting him open. Vader brings out a table from under the ring and sets it up. Some brawling ensues before Vader lays Joe on the table. Vader climbs onto the ring apron and then starts going up the turnbuckles. Joe gets down and catches Vader as he gets close to the top rope. The battle until Joe gets Vader’s massive frame onto his shoulders just long enough to fall backwards off the apron, sending Vader through the table with an electric chair drop! “Holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit! It takes a long time before Joe gets up. Somehow, he musters up the strength to pick up Vader and roll him into the ring. He pins him. 1…2… shoulder up! Vader won’t be pinned, so Joe has to sit him up and put him in the Coquina Clutch, forcing him to pass out. Samoa Joe is declared the winner of Aztec Warfare and will headline Ultima Lucha against Brock Lesnar!
