Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Bad News Brown by pinfall to retain the Gift of the Gods title. This match got the show off to a fast start as it wasn’t long before they left the ring, with Mysterio taking out Brown in front of the Temple stairs with a tope suicida. The brawl continued around ringside and Brown brought out some weapons to hit Mysterio with, namely a kendo stick and a steel chair. A table was brought out, but unbroken. Brown released Mysterio into a pile of wooden chairs at ringside with a jackknife powerbomb and pinned him, but Mysterio kicked out. He took Mysterio up into the nearby stands to brawl. Mysterio received a plastic cup of beer from a fan, which he threw in Brown’s face. It blinded him long enough for Mysterio to dump him over the rail and back to ringside. Then, when Brown got to his feet, Mysterio climbed onto the rail and jumped off, taking Brown down with a diving hurricanrana. They would end up brawling around ringside again. Brown attempted to hit him with the Ghetto Blaster, but Mysterio ducked it. As Brown got back to his feet, Mysterio dropkicked him in the back and Brown hit the turnbuckle post hard. Then, Mysterio gave him a tornado DDT on the floor! After that, Mysterio put Brown on the table, then climbed to the top turnbuckle and put him through it with a frog splash. 1-2-3! Mysterio retains the Gift of the Gods title.

We go to a scene inside of Dario Cueto’s office where his guests are the Heenan Family. He congratulates Vader on winning the Lucha Underground Championship qualifying tournament and thanks Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and his Family for helping him so thoroughly ruin the main event of AGPW’s Journey to Greatness 2016 that it became the final nail in the coffin, which allowed him to buy out the company and turn it into Lucha Underground. For that he is incredibly thankful and so he wants to show them something. He places three identical title belts down on his desk and reveals that these are the new Lucha Underground Trios Championships. Next week, will be the beginning of a tournament to crown the first ever Trios Champions. However, to further show his gratitude to the Heenan Family, just like how Vader had a surprise bye into the finals of the Lucha Underground Championship tournament, so too will Vader, Anderson and Blanchard automatically be placed in the finals of the Trios Championships tournament. The Brain and the rest of the Heenan Family couldn’t be happier.
Dario Cueto announces the invention of the Lucha Underground Trios Championships!

Sexy Star defeated Paige and Victoria by pinfall. Sexy Star was at a disadvantage for a large part of the match as Paige and Victoria spent a long time double teaming her. This strategy effectively weakened the champion to the point where she might lose the match and the title, but then neither Paige nor Victoria was able to pin her for the win because both of them wanted to win the match. They ended up turning on each other and having a stiff brawl. Victoria tried to set up Paige for the Widow’s Peak, but she broke free, then nailed Victoria with a superkick and the Paige Turner. Sexy Star took advantage of the situation, grabbing Paige from behind and throwing her over the top rope, then hiting Victoria with a shining wizard as she tried to sit up. She pinned her for the 3-count.

Cesaro defeated Vader by pinfall to win the Lucha Underground Champion. With this win, Cesaro retires the old AGPW International Heavyweight Champion and becomes the first wrestler in Mash-Up Wrestling to hold the Lucha Underground Championship. This match was a back-and-forth affair with both wrestlers putting their power on display. Cesaro showed why he is known to be the strongest wrestler pound-for-pound when he gave the over 400-pound Vader a vertical suplex and a trifecta of gutwrench suplexes. Meanwhile Vader planted Cesaro into the mat with powerslams and double powerbomb. However, none of these moves could keep their opponents down. There was also plenty of brawling throughout the match as they went out to the floor on more than one occasion. When it became clear that Cesaro’s fighting spirit was too strong to keep him down for a 3-count, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan called on Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard to tilt the match into Vader’s favour. But then Prince Puma, who has an obvious beef with the Heenan Family ran out to and he brought a steel chair out from under the ring as an equalizer, dropkicking it in Blanchard’s face and planting Anderson’s head into it with a tornado DDT. With all of that out of the way, it came down to Vader trying to take Cesaro’s head off with a clothesline, only to have Cesaro duck under it and then nail Vader with a springboard corkscrew European uppercut. After that, he gave him the Neutralizer and pinned him for the 1-2-3!
Cesaro is the first Lucha Underground Champion!
