XPW Remixed proudly presents...REDEMPTION Announce team for the evening...
Matt Striker & TNA TazLoud, explosive open to the show! Pyro! Music! Screaming fans! This is XPW Remixed on iPPV! And this is “REDEMPTION”! Hosts Matt Striker & TNA Taz welcome to the show, run down the card, and discuss a deep uncertainty that has settled in over the company. There are even rumors this may be the *LAST* XPW Remixed production! If so, we are going out with a BANG this evening - and it all starts with the Tag Team Valkyrie tourney FINALS!!** CUT TO VIDEO RECAP ** _______________________________________________________________"Tag Team Valkyrie" Tourney BracketsFab Kangs vs Team 4:20 & PtP | Fab Kangs | Thesz & Cena vs Joe & Ambrose | Thesz & Cena | Thesz & Cena | |

** CUT TO RING ** ** XPW Remixed Tag Team titles **THESZ & CENA versus VOODOO MURDERS versus Show opening video package running through the Tag Team Valkyrie series with a focus on the opposed anti-union between Thesz & Cena. Management has pit them against one another subtly hoping they would combust. So far they’ve swept through 3 of the top teams in fantasy wrestling history… but will tonight be the night they finally self-destruct? The VOODOO MURDERS are the massive heel foils with the full Japanese procession for their walkout. Thesz & Cena are the walking wounded and spend most of the match on the defensive (with Cena playing face-in-peril). Cena tried to execute an FUAA on Big Daddy Voodoo (*AGAINST* Thesz orders) and collapsed under his weight due to damaged ribs. Thesz frustration with Cena seems palpable, and he even teases hopping *DOWN* off the ring apron and forsaking Cena! (crowd actually cheers that hope)… but Thesz shakes his head (as Striker & Taz remind you of Dean Ambrose’s mental attacks on him recently) and rededicates himself to the match. Cena rewards Thesz minor crisis of faith with a hot tag and the XPW World champion is allowed to go on a small tear. But the lingering neck injuries of Thesz flare up and he is forced to allow Cena to come to his rescue. In the end, they mount a superman comeback - eject Big Daddy V from the ring with a double back body drop - and then snatch Taru in a DOUBLE-STF! A mirror view of their twin finishing moves, and Taru has no choice but to tap out! Cena and Thesz have done the unbelievable! Put aside their personal rivalry to overcome a greater foe! The big drama unfolds post match, when Cena and Thesz have their staredown. Cena hands Thesz his XPW World championship belt (after staring extra long at it before he did)… and Thesz begrudgingly slaps one of the Tag Team straps upon Cena’s shoulder! We have new tag titlists, and they’re the two top singles champions in the company! Talk about title consolidation! Later on they would have a promo together in the back, that turned out to be pretty tense. Thesz told Cena in no uncertain terms NOT to expect his help tonight during Cena's title defense. Cena said the same and told the old man he was on his own... Their little tete-a-tete was broken up by the brash PRIME TIME PLAYAZ (Titus & Kaos w/ GG) who want first shot at the tag belts... Winners (and NEW XPW Remixed Tag Team champions): THESZ & CENA ** CUT ** ** BACKSTAGE INTERLUDE ** Cameras catch the tail-end of a deep business meeting between President Lewis and VP Toots Mondt. Mister Mondt is imploring Lewis to drop the AWA deal, because “cards are always subject to change”. Apparently there was some kind of betrayal over an ESPN timeslot and Lewis mentions Verne Gagne being part of a “committee” and not the sole AWA owner (which is why Gagne got left in the dust when VKM Jr was running around doing his buy-outs). Mondt warns him that the company is collapsing around them (indictments, federal investigations and murder accusations) - and now mortal enemies Thesz & Cena have seized tag team championship glory. Mondt wants to cut their losses and escape with what they have left. But all this does is strengthen Lewis resolve. He says he *WILL* find an opponent for Goldberg tonight, and not only that - he’s putting the match on last with main event billing. Ed Lewis reminds Mondt he is a gambling man (which is actually where most of the XPW Remixed money is being embezzled) and Strangler Lewis still holds an Ace in the deck… Thesz & Cena have played right into his hands - and should Onita and/or Dean Ambrose fail in their mission tonight - there will be severe repercussions… but Strangler Lewis always has a contingency plan. Mondt seems wary and unsure, but President Lewis dismisses him with the order to “get me Jim on the phone”…** CUT ** ______________________________________________________________** XPW TV title **JACK BRISCO (1975) © vs MATT MORGAN (2010) w/ Buddy Rogers versus w/ Show stealing promos from “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers (#1 Fantasy Wrestling agent) and his client the “Blueprint” Matt Morgan. Potential unleashed (while commentator cover the friction between Morgan and stable mate Mark Henry, who is “out with a training injury” tonight - and NOT irate over being looked over for this title shot in favor of Morgan). Jack Brisco on the other hand is workman like classic. He disables the big man with a focus on the leg and knees, but still has a hard time countering Matt’s power. Meanwhile, ex-XPW World & TV champion ALBERTO DEL RIO assumes guest commentary duty during this match (as he recovers from an injury himself that is not acknowledged). The unscrupulous Rogers adds a further level of distraction at ringside, but doesn’t physically involve himself in the match. This is Morgan’s responsibility, and he fails. Rogers has clearly taught him many counters to the Figure 4 leglock, but Brisco flips the script at the end with a Texas Cloverleaf to the 7-footer that forces his submission! Buddy Rogers throws away his victory cigar in disgust as Brisco rejoices in his victory and has a stare down with ADR! Somewhere in Silby TX, Mark Henry chuckled to himself…Winner (and STILL XPW Remixed TV champion): JACK BRISCO______________________________________________________________TRISH & ALEXXIS versus SABLE & ANNIE SOCIAL versus Cornered on the A-Loop as they helped promote “The 5-Point Show” - Trish & Alexxis were goaded into this battle. The newly-united Sable & Annie Social have a new bitchy, Mean Girls, “Beautiful People”-type vibe that unfolds beautifully (as Taz loves to remind you of the time Sable *BEAT* Social in a match by kissing her!) Entertaining, energetic affair with all 4 women getting some shine, but the night belongs to Trish & Alexxis who win with twin springboard bulldogs to continue their ascension. Trish Stratus continues to reaffirm her legend status, while Alexxis Nevaeh gets the main event rub. Winners: TRISH & ALEXXIS ** SEGUE ** GORGEOUS GEORGE versus HUMAN TORNADO versus The light-hearted “entertainment” portion of the show, that starts immediately following the previous match when Gorgeous George interrupts Alexis & Trish victory celebration with his vain entrance. He besmirches the ladies - gets SLAPPED for his troubles - and West Coast favorite Human Tornado gets all the fan love. He won their first match (XPW TV Episode #56) - Gorgeous George rebounded for victory @ “Another Halloween in Hell”. Since then they’ve annoyed and antagonized each other until we’ve come to this rubber match. Match is 99% Tornado on offense, until a blinding BLAST of Gorgeous George’s perfume sprayer cuts him off at the eyes! A now blinded Human Tornado is ripe for the pickings, and gets rolled up for the victory! Gorgeous George primps, poses and preens for all the magazine covers - then high tails it out of there when Trish & Alexxis run back to check on Tornado! Winner: GORGEOUS GEORGE ** CUT ** ______________________________________________________________** XPW Remixed Woman's championship **AWESOME KONG © versus MILDRED BURKE versus The bell rings and Awesome Kong bullrushes Mildred Burke into a corner right away. Burke fights back with some European uppercuts, but Kong no-sells them and smiles! Burke tries a springboard crossbody from the corner but gets eaten by a wicked clothesline from Kong. The XPW Remixed woman‘s champion tosses Burke clear across the ring, before choking her out against the ropes. Commentators cover Mildred Burke’s slow rise in XPW Remixed - starting with a twisted contract that forbade her a title shot for over a year, and being pit against members of the opposite sex in competition. Burke has preserved through it all, but can’t seem to climb Mount Kong here tonight. Hard body slam leaves Burke stunned on the mat, but she rolls out of the way just in time to avoid a big splash. Burke attempts a running knee, but Kong no-sells that too and hurls Burke into the ropes. The diminutive sparkplug (her slight size being magnified by Kong’s presence) rebounds off the ropes into a sick choke slam from Kong (for a 2 count). The 3x XPW Remixed woman’s champion Awesome Kong stalks her prey as commentator reiterate her credentials within the XPW arena. Another huge body slam and Kong is the cat just playing with her dinner (the tiny, well-toned Burke).
Kong only gets a 2 count, so begins scaling the turnbuckles for a top rope death blow. But once again, Burke manages to roll out of the way at the last minute - and this time Kong is stunned on the mat. Mildred Burke hit’s a surprise roll-up for a tight 2-count, then a schoolboy roll-up for another 2. Burke is trying to end this fast. An enraged Awesome Kong charges at Burke - but she pulls the top rope down and Kong goes crashing to the arena floor! Sensing her opening, Burke tries diving at Kong from the ring apron - but the Awesome one simply catches her in mid-air and pitches her back in the ring! Burke gets in a few kicks, goes up top, and drops Kong to one knee with a double axe handle! She wants to do it again, but now Kong catches her good (another amazing display of strength) and hurls Burke up into power bomb position… but at the last moment, Burke counters out into a sunset flip! 1!.. 2!.. 3! Kong immediately kicks out, but it’s too late! The shocking upset is complete! Mildred Burke has done it! She’s come all the way from the Depression depths of despair to the top of the XPW Remixed Woman’s division! Awesome Kong is STUNNED! All she can do is stare at Mildred Burke’s teary-eyed title celebration with a look of shock and bubbling fury…Winner (and NEW XPW Remixed Woman’s champion): MILDRED BURKE___________________________________________________________** XPW Remixed Boston championship **JOHN CENA © versus ATSUSHI ONITA versus Elaborate PPV entrance for the challenger Onita - complete with Far East flag bearers, light & laser show and fancy Geisha girls. Onita is portrayed as a literal “savior” to XPW Remixed. He’ll be accompanied tonight by Lord Tensai & the former XPW Remixed (and AWA) tag team champion Headhunterz, who appear as his ring seconds. Onita’s opponent (and champion) John Cena gets a monster pop that tapers off into a sustained chorus of boos. But when he slowly comes face to face with Onita (Japanese flag waving in the background) even the most cynical, heel-loving, Cena-hater is compelled to chant “USA! USA!” Cena has taped ribs (see XPW TV Episode #61: Dream Matches turn Nightmares) and that is a constant source of weakness for him throughout the match. It is the great equalizer, keeping Onita within in constant striking distance and hampering some of Cena’s more impressive power moves. Meanwhile Tensai & the HH’z stalk ringside like savage animals - lending a sort of jailhouse lumberjack match vibe to the proceedings. Punchy-kicky brawl that goes back and forth, with FMW Onita finally getting his comeuppance. But the previously established injuries to Cena show a chink in his armor, and Onita takes full advantage. Russian legsweep. Kendo stick shots! Barbed wire baseball bat! Onita has torn away Cena’s rib bandages, and now da Champ is bleeding from the head. There are raised welts along his ribs and back. But Cena still won’t quit. Onita sets up a table, gives the banzai signal, and *MISSES* a top rope plunge through it! Precious moments for Cena to rebound! But Cena’s comeback trail is stifled by Tensai at ringside. Onita charges but Cena dodges… ref bump! The bloody enraged Boston champion literally pitches Onita OVER the top rope onto Lord Tensai below! Then BAM! Headhunterz run-in! The two gargantuan twins stomp Cena down - and pull off two 400 lb+ moonsaults (under Onita’s direction) - before *finally* being expelled from the fray by referees and officials. They’re banned from ringside, but the damage has been done. Onita down for the cover, but the original ref is still down. So Onita orders Tensai backstage… where he re-emerges with ex-referee DANNY DAVIS! Commentators agog over the situation, but admit anything can and will happen here tonight. 1.. 2!.. Cena still kicks out! Onita is incredulous! He and Davis begin to bicker, before Onita goes back to concentrating on Cena. But it’s too late. Cena winds up with Onita’s Kendo stick, and whacks him so hard with it he literally breaks the cane in half! Bulldog! Now Cena’s on a roll and the previously torn audience is in full support of his bloody comeback! “Referee” Danny Davis attempts to admonish him for something, but only gets a few syllables out before eating a huge FUAA from Cena! U can’t see me! He pitches a charging Lord Tensai over the top rope through a ringside table! Cena manages to grab a nearby chair and swing around just in time to meet Onita’s 200 proof FIREBALL! The huge stream of fire deflects off Cena’s chair (wielded like a shield) and spirals back into Onita’s own face! He drops the flaming torch and liquor bottle and collapses in a burning heap! Cena has the flaming bat now… and Onita tries begging off! Cena hesitates, but the crowd expresses their brutal desires. So he reciprocates - flaming baseball bat to Onita’s stomach! Then his back! Onita twirls around right into an FUAA (on the steel chair)! The original ref drags himself over to count the pinfall! 1!.. 2!.. #!! CENA RETAINS! CENA RETAINS!! Winner (and STILL XPW Remixed Boston champion): JOHN CENA** CUT ** _____________________________________________________________** King of the Death Match championship **"LAST STAND BATTLE ROYAL"Order of Elimination:SNUFFOne of the early favorites (and a near 7-footer), he is ganged up on and disposed of by a group of men - chief amongst them THE SHEIKDANNY HAVOCHis last hurrah finds him taking a huge elevated double backdrop over the top rope through a set of tables.NECRO BUTCHERWinds up pitched over the top rope by a masked assailant resembling a criminal thug who just escaped prison.SUPREMEXPW Original and has 2 prior XPW Remixed cameos to his credit. This being the swan song of the division he helped build, it’s only right to include him for one last reference. He’s tossed overboard by the “New Horror” (and current KotDM champion) Sami Callihan.HEADHUNTER AThe combined might of Sami, Sabu & the masked assailant.DAVID OTUNGANemesis to the Death Match division, this was President Lewis’ last chance for revenge. So he ordered Otunga into this match despite his objections. The only reason he lasts so long is because everybody wants a shot at him. By the time he’s deposited by Sami Callihan and others over the top rope, he is a quivering, bloody mess…NEW JACKTossed by old foe (and raging coke maniac) KILO.MADMAN PONDOAnother returning legend, he gets off all his favorite Stop sign spots before being clotheslined over the top by Masada.THUMBTACK JACKThe Battle Royal format hides his physical limitations (he retired due to a broken spine) but he gets some sweet syringe vengeance against Kilo (the man who crippled him in XPW Remixed cannon) before getting tossed by Jun Kasai & Headhunter B.THE SHEIKTossed out by Headhunter B, but he’s not finished…HEADHUNTER BGrabbed by an angry Sheik from outside the ring, and then drug to elimination (helped of course by Sabu who ejected him from inside the ring). Sheik and Headhunter B brawl all the way back up the entrance ramp.ABDULLAH the BUTCHERAnother returning Death Match legend, he forks, slices and bleeds - before getting tossed by Sabu, mystery masked man & Kilo.MASADATaken out by a Pogo the Clown barbed-wire shovel shot.SABUEliminated by the combined efforts of Kilo & Pogo the ClownPOGO the CLOWNImmediately betrayed by Kilo, who dumps him over the top rope from behind… and maniacally laughs about it.KILOBut Kilo follows closely behind - when none other than FRENCH ANGEL returns - stalks to ringside - GRABS Kilo’s drug-slave valet Sammi Lane - pitches her over his shoulder - and LEAVES with her! The distraction causes Kilo to become so enraged, he gets smashed over the top by masked assailant and Sammi Callihan.JUN KASAICrazy Monkey on a tear - until he rips the mask off the mystery assailant to reveal… NICK FN GAGE! The shock of the reveal allows Gage to eliminate Kasai!NICK GAGEEliminated by the heel coward Sandman from behind when he wasn’t looking. A good final look for Gage, who flees back into the Mists shortly thereafter - and extra heel heat for Sandman - bane of the Death Match division!SANDMANHis climax with Sami Callihan is the pinnacle of the entire Death Match division and both men leave it all in the ring. But Sandman is finally eliminated by his own Kendo stick.Winner: SAMI CALLIHANHe survived a hellacious Kendo stick beating before spitting Sandman’s own beer in his eyes to blind him - disarm him - and whack the former ECW champion right out of the ring with his own weapon! Sami Callihan kisses his belt and raises it high into the night sky! This match is dedicated to Trent Acid, JC Bailey, Chris Ca$h, Brain Damage and everybody else who died in the struggle!!!____________________________________________________________** XPW Remixed WORLD title **LOU THESZ © versus DEAN AMBROSE (2015) versus The video recaps paint this is as a psychological thriller - ala classic Hitchcock or otherwise. Dean Ambrose promo before the match puts over his anarchist, corrupt spirit - and while XPW Remixed is sometimes as blatant as a sledgehammer to the face (or bullets to the brain like poor Dino Bravo - a fate broadcasted to engulf him once his Mash-Up Wrestling days are finally over) - the promos we deliver come straight from the performers unscripted hearts (and thus must derive from the reader's imagination). So while Dean’s exact words (and those of the champion Lou Thesz who follows after) may go unspoken, their true spiritual sentiment lingers long and loud. And if I mess up on broadcast dates? Fuck it - I was high when I wrote this! Despite the injuries and wounds bore upon him by Ambrose and company, Thesz is anxious to begin. But Ambrose paces the floor taking his time, and driving the fan emotion into a fervor. Unlike other matches this evening that are full-bore straight ahead - this fulfills the mat-action quota of the card. Thesz works the arm and nails a wristlock suplex. Ambrose escapes another armbar but Thesz stomps his arm into the canvas and continues to rip Ambrose limb-from-limb. The dissection of the arm continues until Ambrose gets desperate and hit’s a mule kick lowblow to end that tide. Ambrose vicious and relentless on offense, executing a kick-ass Attitude-era beatdown upon the champion. He takes the battle to the arena floor where Thesz is whipped from pillar to post. Ambrose still can’t get the finish inside the ring, and sinks into Thesz game - trying to beat him on the mat. Ambrose has some slick submission attempts himself, but gets countered into a surf board! Then an overhead suplex from Thesz gets 2! They scramble on the mat again, with Ambrose cranking on Lou’s neck and unleashing the brutal ground-n-pound. But Thesz counters with a desperation leglock and Ambrose is trapped! Ambrose switches out at the last moment (after teasing a tap out or two), and spikes Thesz into the mat with a second rope DDT for the closest near fall of the night. They have another strenuous exchange capped off by Thesz maneuvering Ambrose into STF position! Crowd pops - Ambrose panics - and scratches and claws his way over to his billy club weapon! But before he can use it, Thesz releases the hold to pound him out! The billy club scatters into the ring where Thesz retrieves it! He advances upon Ambrose with the weapon, who is cowardly begging off and pleading for mercy. Crowd wants Thesz to kill him… but he hesitates just enough for Ambrose to pull the ref in between them and get the jump on Thesz! Now Ambrose has the weapon and SWINGS at Lou’s head! But the champion ducks at the last moment, takes Ambrose over with a precision drop toe hold - and segues into his crippling STF finisher! Ambrose struggles mightily but to no avail! HE MUST TAP OUT! Thesz keeps the hold on for a few extra seconds to send a message! LOU THESZ RETAINS HIS TITLE! Post match, as he is cradling his World title in the air - tag team partner John Cena appears on the entrance ramp (with his own Boston title) and stares him down... before slowly starting to clap. Winner (and STILL XPW World champion): LOU THESZ ** CUT ** ______________________________________________________________"The Final Chapter"ROAD WARRIORS (1991) vs DUDLEY BOYZ (2009)(Losers Must Disband) versus Epic level walkouts from both teams (including tables & live POD concert for the Dudz - and revving Harley Davidson ride-in for LOD). Commentators summarize the feud and reiterate the “Final Chapter” rules tonight. Both teams don’t even wait for the introductions to finish before attacking each other! Hawk gives D-Von a belly to belly suplex! Bubba Ray backdrops Animal to the arena floor! Animal quickly rebounds by German suplexing D-Von on his head outside the ring! Bubba Ray with some barbed wire left over from the Cena/Onita match! D-Von and Hawk rumble at ringside, with the crowd going absolutely crazy. Powerslams, shoulder tackles, Bubba Cutters, stiff clotheslines… this is the truest definition of “slobber knocker”. Dudz take over as LOD shows their age, but they come back off the ropes like Rocky and show why they’re the #1 team in history. Animal with a ringbell shot to Bubba Ray and Hawk lays D-Von out with about a dozen chair shots! “LOD! LOD”! With both the Dudz down… the crowd going rabid... And a still-whole table erect in the ring… the LOD decide to… walk out?? There’s a few moments of confusion, before they re-emerge from the entrance ramp - with barbed wire boards and lighter fluid! Crowd pop is huge! They douse the table and barbed wire boards and light them ablaze! BOOOM! Bubba Ray gets super-bombed through the flaming contraption! “XPW! XPW!“ Pen-ultimate Doomsday Device upon D-Von gets the emphatic 1!.. 2!.. 3! LOD BEST IN THE WOOOORLD!!Winners: HAWK & ANIMAL (LEGION of DOOM)___________________________________________________________”A Mash-Up Wrestling Title Unification”President Strangler Lewis finally gets his big on-screen PPV entrance, and is serenaded with colossal boos (VKM Jr 1998 style). He is all pleasant smiles and jovial handshakes, completely no-selling the fan venom. In the ring, a raised podium with a black tarp covering it serves as a backdrop. President Lewis begins his speech by welcoming fans to the show, before going off on some bizarre tangent about “doing business the right way” and other obscure insider tangents. He hypes the glory and grandeur of XPW Remixed (leaning heavily on pro-West Coast favor and cheap pops from the Cali crowd) and builds anticipation in his reveal. He removes the black tarp from the podium to reveal THE AWA CHAMPIONSHIP BELT (?? YOU figure it out!! ??) This match is for the AWA championship and will be contested by two all-time LEGENDS of the game! After much pomp and circumstance, ladies & gentleman please welcome to XPW Remixed - the man, the myth, the legend… Crowd goes ballistic. Commentators are ecstatic, and Matt Striker even reviews the closing events of Dog Days (and Goldberg’s main event participation). Gleeful applause from Strangler as Goldberg stalks to the ring, nods in acknowledgement, and stares down the AWA championship belt in Strangler’s hands. Next, President Lewis goes on some more about tradition, honor and integrity before pausing to build anticipation. Ladies and gentleman, introducing his opponent for the evening… OMFG R U SERIOUS!?! Tweets, texts, pagers and blue tooths around the globe just lit up and overloaded! The AWA expansion draft has certainly served XPW Remixed well! This must have been the ace President Lewis has been referring to! “Get Jim on the phone” he told Mister Mondt! JIM HELLWIG! ** Special AWA Challenge Match **GOLDBERG (1998) © versus ULTIMATE WARRIOR (1990) versus Crowd is going crazy! The Ultimate Warrior’s music is pounding! Goldberg is stalking the ring like a beast, eyes focused on the entrance ramp! IT’S TIME!… pause…. Music still playing but no entrance. Ok, NOW it’s time! Nope, wait it’s not. Finally the music stops… and TOOTS MONDT enters (!?)Crowd booing the Boardwalk Empire-chic of Toots Mondt, as he begins to read a prepared statement from the safety of the entrance ramp. It’s a “card is subject to change” byline, and Mister Mondt will take great pleasure in introducing Goldberg’s NEW opponent… as he is saying this, Strangler Lewis is in the ring behind Goldberg rolling up his sleeves… only to BLAST Goldberg in the back of the head with the AWA belt and loom over his body! “Your opponent is ME!” he says, before collapsing on Goldberg’s body!** Special AWA Challenge Match **GOLDBERG (1998) © versus... STRANGLER LEWIS!! versus Odd, confusing and uncooperative. Goldberg is dazed and seems unsure of himself as Strangler Lewis is wrestling him to the mat. He finally figures out what is going on, and it takes all of Strangler’s strength to hold onto Goldberg and ride him like a bucking bronco. He has him in a front face lock with a sprawl, trying to subdue him. Within moments Toots Mondt is on the scene - with an electric cattle prod! The sickening sounds of electrocution can be heard as he rams the weapon over and over again into Goldberg’s body! Shades of the night Goldberg first lost his streak! The taser literally shocks the life out of Goldberg’s body, and Strangler Lewis segues into his dangerous Dragon Sleeper! Goldberg is flailing trying to resist, but the combined strength of Mondt & Lewis metaphorically hold the pillow over his face until he stops moving. Toots Mondt raises Strangler’s hand as he declares *HIMSELF* the champion and hoists the AWA strap over his own shoulder! 10 minutes left in the broadcast…Winner: STRANGLER LEWIS ”A Mash-Up Wrestling Title Unification” Lights! Camera! Action! We are LIVE on PPV for an unprecedented Mash-Up Wrestling SIMULCAST. XPW Remixed President Strangler Lewis is in the ring (ruffled suit coat the only sign of a previous struggle) and a gleaming championship belt on his shoulder (does that belt say “AWA”??)
