ULTIMATE PRO WRESTLING
"State of the Art"
Friday, June 2nd, 2023
The Globe Theater, Los Angeles, CA
The show starts with SoCal wresting legend and UPW General Manager Adam Pearce coming out and welcoming the fans and letting them know the Premier Title Tournament will continue tonight, and the Tag Team Title Tournament will begin.
He said, due to extenuating circumstances, they had to find a replacement for Bronson Reed to face Buddy Matthews in the main event tonight, but they didn't have to look far, as he is proud to introduce Los Angeles's own John Morrison! Caprice Coleman and Kevin Kelly talk up Morrison's Championship accolades on commentary as he heads to the ring.
Morrison says that finally UPW has a true star, as Johnny Hollywood, Johnny Drip Drip, The Shaman of Sexy, The Guru of Greatness, and soon to be UPW Premier Champion John Morrison has arrived and is ready to make UPW a more glamorous place! He says Buddy Matthews is a nobody from the armpit of the world known as Australia. He then turned to Pearce and said if he were smart and wanted to just save some time, he'd just hand him the belt right now and get it over with.
This leads to Buddy Matthews making his way out to the ramp with a microphone.
Buddy says he is glad Morrison is here, because it's going to look a lot better on his resume when he beats the living piss out of him. He says he's on a mission of destruction, and he refuses to be denied any longer. He said it doesn't matter if you're from New Zealand, Boston, Russia, Croatia, Nigeria, the Middle East, or especially a fucking Hollywood, Buddy Matthews is here to kill 'em all! He says John Morrison showed up here tonight expecting a hero's welcome but he's going to get a fool's death, and instead of a big parade, he'll get a sad procession, because tonight, it's John Morrison's funeral.
And with that, we get to the ring where Mike Rome is ready to introduce our first competitors of the evening.

MATCH ONE
TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
Los Ingobernales: Rush & Dragon Lee vs. Los Lotharios: Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo
This was a well worked, fast paced lucha contest to get things started. Los Lotharios were playing the heel role, but were unable to match the fire power of the Los Ingobernales brothers. Rush would deliver the Bull's Horns in the corner to Humberto, followed by a Double Stomp off the middle turnbuckle to get the pinfall.
Winners by Pinfall: Rush & Dragon Lee

MATCH TWO
PREMIER TITLE TOURNAMENT
Apollo Crews vs. Chris Dijak
There are two of the best rounded wrestlers in UPW, as they both have a great combination of speed, power, and agility at their disposal. Dijak would bring the heat a little harder on this night and would deliver his Feast Your Eyes finisher to get the three count victory.

MATCH THREE
TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
MSK: Nash Carter & Wes Lee vs. The ABC: Ace Austin & Chris Bey
These two teams put on a short but sweet high speed spot fest that wowed the Globe Theater. In the end, Carter and Lee would prove to be one step ahead and their experience as a team paid off. Lee would get Bey into a Gory Special, allowing Carter to springboard and deliver an Ace Crusher for a big tandem maneuver that secured the win.
Winners by Pinfall: Nash Carter & Wes Lee
MATCH FOUR
PREMIER TITLE TOURNAMENT
Ilja Dragunov vs. Oney Lorcan
These two would blister each other in a very hard hitting contest that sent shockwaves throughout the arena from the impact. Lorcan would seemingly have the match won on a couple of occasions after hitting a Half Nelson Suplex and a Running Blockbuster, but Ilja is as tough as they come and wouldn't stay down. Ilja would manage to hit a Rebound Discus Lariat, followed by the Torpedo Moscow headbutt to knock Lorcan out long enough to get the three count and advance to the semi-finals.
Winner by Pinfall: Ilja Dragunov

MATCH FIVE
TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
Hart Dynasty: Teddy Hart & Tyson Kidd vs. The Heatseekers: Curt Hawkins & Trent Beretta
Hawkins and Beretta were getting heat for their tactics for sure, as they isolated Kidd early and used chokes and cheating to try and keep him down. Kidd would manage to make a hot tag to Teddy Hart, and Hart would impress, taking down both of the Heatseekers before hitting a breath taking Moonsault to the floor to wipe them both out. Hart sends Hawkins back into the ring and tags out to Kidd. Kidd locks on the Dungeon Lock as Hart keeps Beretta on the outside to get the submission win.
Winners by Submission: Teddy Hart & Tyson Kidd
MATCH SIX
PREMIER TITLE TOURNAMENT
Mustafa Ali vs. Jay White
These are two of the best UPW has to offer and they put omn a really good back and forth contest. White would smack talk Ali throughout and try to get him to give up, but Ali would just keep fighting. Ali would get overzealous, however, and would attempt his Imploding 450 Splash after he'd already been beaten to exhaustion, leading White to roll out of the way and then deliver the Blade Runner to get the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Jay White
Jay White gets on the microphone after the match. White says that he's on a collision course with the winner of the Matthews/Morrison match, and he doesn't really care which one he gets to beat. He says shutting up the Australian imbecile Matthews would be great, but bringing down the egomaniac Morrison would be maybe even better. He really can't decide which he'd like to humble more, but one thing is absolutely certain and that is he will walk out the victor and will be going to the finals. Now it's time to sit back, relax, and see Buddy Matthews and John Morrison race towards the worst night of their lives, as one of them is getting carved up by "Switchblade" Jay White!

TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT
LDRS: Zack Sabre Jr. & Marty Scurll vs. British Strong Style: Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate
We had witnessed some pretty good to very good matches thus far tonight, but this one had to be the stand out from a technical Wrestling perspective. These two tag teams possessed four of the best English wrestlers on the planet, and they were really having fun twisting and contortions one another, punishing each other and just being right prices all around as they looked to advance in this tournament. The aggression and impact of BSS began to really wear on their opponents, who would try to use their counters and savvy wrestling skills to overcome, but in the end, could not. Dunne would hold Scurll in the Hart Attack position, allowing Bate would hit him with a Rebound Lariat. Bate would then fly through the ropes onto Sabre on the outside, allowing Dunne to hit the Bitter End to get the pinfall.
Winners by Pinfall: Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate

PREMIER TITLE TOURNAMENT
Buddy Matthews vs. John Morrison
Morrison was very confident early, but after the opening back and forth feeling out process, Buddy was able to get the better of him and Morrison was a lot less apt to engage from there. The fans would boo Morrison as he would cower in the ropes and go to the outside to cut off Matthews' momentum. Matthews would get impatient, ready to go on the warpath, and would chase Morrison on the outside, opening himself up to a low blow and then a big legdrop off the guardrail. Back in the ring, Morrison would hit a Springboard Enzuigiri, but only for a two count. Morrison would argue with referee Chad Patton, but Patton would shove him back and tell him who's boss as the fans cheered! Morrison would turn and get caught with a Meteora, but that would only get a two count. Buddy would then unleash a flurry of strikes, but Morrison would avoid a foot stomp and hit a Caporeia kick, followed by a legsweep. Morrison would then hit a Standing Shooting Star Press, but still just a two count! Morrison attempts to whip Buddy, but Buddy reverses. Johnny jumps up on the middle turnbuckle, but Matthews knees in the back. Buddy pulls his head down between his legs and Superkicks his face, smashing him into the top turnbuckle. From there, Matthews powerbombs him from the corner and then rolls him through, kneeling him in the face and trying for a pinfall, but just a two! Matthews calls for the end with a loud yell and pose before going for Murphy's Law, but Morrison reverses it and delivers a high spin kick to his head. Morrison then hits the Moonlight Drive neckbreaker and goes for Starship Pain, but Buddy gets the knees up! Buddy is back up and hits the Curb Stomp to the doubled over Morrison and hooks the leg, getting the three count win!
Winner by Pinfall: Buddy Matthews
After the match, "Switchblade" Jay White makes his way out. Buddy is yelling for him to get and face him! White teases getting into the ring and then slowly backs off. White mocks the fans and Buddy, and says they see going to have to wait and pay if they want to see Jay White again, because "Switchblade" doesn't do charity work! He told Buddy he'd better stop and smell the roses and hug the ones he loves, because next week it's all over!
And with that, the show comes to an end.
