The opening credits for Shooting Star Pro-Wrestling roll, as we get an opening credit montage to the sounds of "BANG!BANG!BANBARD!!" by Saitama Saisyu Heiki.
We then we get an outdoor shot of Nippon Budokan.
We then get alook inside at the crowd.
We are then greeted by the voice of SSPW, Yuji Shindo, and his broadcast partner and analyst Kotetsu Yamamoto.
After running down the card, which includes the main event NWA Double Crown match between Shinya Hashimoto and Toshiaki Kawada, and a six man tag team match between Jushin Liger, Great Sasuke, and Tiger Mask IV taking on Kai En Tai, we head to the ring. We see SSPW President Katsumi Sasazaki standing in with founder Jushin "Thunder" Liger (Keiichi Yamada), NWA Japanese Representative Hiroshi Hase, NWA Commissioner Jim Barnett, and WWWA Head Consultant Kenji Matsunaga. Liger welcomes the fans and thanks them all for coming, and introduces his partners in the ring. He says he is excited to have a man he has known since high school in Toshiaki Kawada taking on a man he wrestled with for many years in New Japan in Shinya Hashimoto in what is sure to be a classic encounter to ignite "The Big Bang"! He says that promoting the NWA Double Crown championship is an honor, as well as continuing the rich history of the WWWA here in SSPW thanks to Mr. Matsunaga, as they will also be promoting the very best women's wrestling in all of the world here and they are so pleased everyone has gathered here to support this!
This leads to Kai En Tai's theme music to hit, and out walks Taka Michinoku, Shoichi Funaki, Kaz Hayashi, Dick Togo, and Mens Teioh. They are coming out with bad attitudes and Yamamoto is yelling on commentary that they have no business being out here right now! Taka Michinoku grabs a microphone and tells Liger to shut his mouth! He says the only reason anybody is here is to see the biggest stars in Japanese wrestling, the INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTARS KAI EN TAI! The fans do not give a favorable reaction to this. Taka and his crew get up in the faces of the men in the ring, and Hiroshi Hase is clearly not pleased and shoves Funaki back, getting a cheer! Yamamoto yells for Hase to teach him a lesson! Taka says that he is the biggest star here, and that's why Liger has him there, and he should be kissing his ass, but instead he completely ignored him! Well, Taka says tonight he won't be able to ignore him when he beats him in the middle of the ring with his other masked buddies!
Kaz Hayashi then yells that they shouldn't wait for later, and they proceed to begin beating on Liger! Hase starts unloading on them, but it's five on two here! AND OUT RUNS GREAT SASUKE AND TIGER MASK IV! They manage to fly in and with some quick striking clear the ring to the cheers of the fans! Liger raises their arms and then shakes Hase's hand, who has removed his shirt and is yelling for them to get back in there! We then go back to Shindo and Yamamoto, who go over what is to come on the rest of the show and introduce our referee team as they get things cleared in the ring for our first contest.
We then head to the ring, where Eiji Tosaka is standing in ready to introduce our first competitors.
MATCH ONE
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Gedo & Jado vs. El Samurai & Gran Naniwa
Referee: Ted Tanabe
Gedo and Jado were absolutely vicious in this match. They went after their opponents very stiffly and looked like a well oiled machine. Ted Tanabe is our senior official and a no nonsense guy, and he had his work cut out for him, as Gedo and Jado were choking and using underhanded advantages to really grind the will out of their opponents. The match would come to a close with Jado lifting Naniwa up on his shoulder and then Gedo flying off the middle buckle with a DDT. This was an ugly, statement win for Gedo and Jado as they set their sights on championship gold.
Winners by Pinfall: Gedo & Jado
(00:06:23)
We go backstage where Yumi Fukawa is standing in with title hopeful Toshiaki Kawada, who's tag team partner Akira Taue is by his side. Fukawa asks Kawada how he feels heading in this match with the "King of Destruction". Kawada says that he and Hashimoto has been running on parallel paths for a long time, building their reputations as dangerous men and champions to be feared. He says the people love Hashimoto, but they respect Kawada and everything he has done even more. He says he has earned his right to be an icon. He has lost blood, teeth, and years from his life to get to where he is today. He says he has held those belts in his hands, worn them on his body, and he will do whatever it takes tonight to do it again.
MATCH TWO
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida vs. Cuty Suzuki & Mayumi Ozaki
Referee: Mac Takeda
"When God made the devil, it was just for fun; when he wanted the real thing, he made Aja Kong!"
Suzuki and Ozaki would try to keep Yoshida isolated, but "The Spider" is very hard to handle. Yoshida would manage tag in Kong, and the complexion of this match changed completely. Kong would send Ozaki into the buckles with a Belly to Belly Suplex and deliver a nasty Piledriver to Suzuki. Yoshida would pull Ozaki would of the ring and hold her down. Kong would then deliver a Folding Powerbomb to Suzuki, which Cuty would show her heart and kick out of. Kong would lift her up and pat her on the face twice before spinning and nearly decapitating her with a Uraken Backfist. That's all she wrote.
Winners by Pinfall: Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida
(00:05:50)
After the match, Kong would pick up Suzuki and proceed to deliver a Package Piledriver! Yoshida would confront her about it, but Kong would shove her former student out of the way and then head to the outside. Kong would grab a trashcan and then bash Ozaki over the head with it for good measure before stomping to the back, leaving a trail of wreckage in her wake.
We go backstage, where we see Shinya Hashimoto and Naoya Ogawa warming up for their matches later tonight. Yumi Fukawa approaches as Hashimoto is throwing kicks into a pad that Ogawa is holding up. Both men relax, and answer her questions. Hashimoto says that Kawada is a tough son of a bitch, but he's going to break him tonight. He says every fan in that arena and around the world are getting a show tonight, as he's bringing the explosion to "The Big Bang"! Fukawa asks how Ogawa feels about his upcoming match with Minoru Suzuki. Ogawa says that he knows Suzuki loves to hurt people, but he's not afraid of him. He says he knows he's the better fighter, and he's going to put down that miserable bastard for everyone here in Budokan!
MATCH THREE
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Ikuto Hidaka & Minoru Fujita vs. Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Tanaka
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
The Junior Stars of Kanemoto and Tanaka came with high energy and as big favorites. Fujita and Hidaka are long time partners and tried to use quick tactics and frequent tags to get the advantage early, but Kanemoto and Tanaka are just way too skilled. Tanaka would deliver a Northern Lights Suplex near the end and try to roll it into a Cross Armbar on Hidaka, but Hidaka would show his grit to fight it. Kanemoto would rush in and deliver a Penalty Kick to the back of Hidaka's head, allowing Tanaka to cinch in the hold, and they would get the win by submission in impressive fashion.
Winners by Submission: Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Tanaka
(00:08:15)
We go backstage, where Yumi Fukawa is standing in with the group of Las Cachorras Orientales (LCO aka The Oriental Bitches) of Akira Hokuto, Mima Shimoda, Etusko Mita, and newest member Takako Inoue. Fukawa says that Shimoda and Mita have a long history with their opponents Manami Toyota and Toshiyo Yamada tonight, and asks how they plan to overcome them. Shimoda laughs and says they plan to leave them bleeding in the middle of the ring and unable to ever wrestle again! Hokuto then says that tonight they mark their territory in the blood of their enemies, as LCO will begin their reign of terror right here in Budokan! Hokuto says "The Big Bang" should have been called "The Blood Bath", because that's what it's going to be for Toyota and Yamada!
MATCH FOUR
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Ayako Hamada vs. Meiko Satomura
Referee: Shiro Abe
Hamada refused a handshake from Satomura early on and told her to wrestle! Hamada and Satomura would proceed to have nearly five minutes of back and forth mat wrestling that showed a lot of passion. Hamada seemed to have a real chip on her shoulder, but Satomura is one of the best out there and she showed it tonight. Things would pick up, as Hamada started showing her lucha libre background, but Satomura would manage to catch her with a Scorpion Ax Kick as he was trying to get her feet at one point, and that knocked her out. Satomura gets the win!
Winner by Pinfall: Meiko Satomura
(00:09:10)
After the match, Meiko would try for the handshake again, but Hamada would shove her and then roll out in anger. Satomura looked mad about the disrespect before she left.
MATCH FIVE
SIX PERSON TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Ayumi Kurihara, Hiroyo Matsumoto, and Yoshiko Tamura vs. Kyoko Kimura, Tomoka Nakagawa, and Toshie Uematsu
Referee: Mac Takeda
Tamura and Kurihara have been teaming for awhile now and have good chemistry. Tamura is very arrogant, and was the focal point of this contest. Once Matsumoto seemed to be in trouble with Kimura and Nakagawa beating her down in the corner, Tamura told Kurihara it was time to leave, and they just hopped off the apron and bailed on her! Once Takeda saw what had happened, he waved off the match, but the beat down continued!
No Contest
(00:06:45)
Out to the ring an Mariko Yoshida, and she cleaned house, punching, kicking, and slamming Kimura, Nakagawa, and Uematsu like a bat of of hell to save her protege. Yoshida then got on the microphone and called Yoshiko Tamura a spineless coward, and told her that next month, her and Matsumoto are going to teach her and Kurihara about honor and respect! Tamura says Yoshida can act all tough, but she knows who she really is and she's not in her league! Tamura says if she wants to get beat up, fine by her, they'll see them next month!
Backstage, we see Yumi Fukawa standing in with Minoru Suzuki, who has a black towel over his head and is looking down. Fukawa says that she spoke with Naoya Ogawa earlier in the night and he said he was not afraid of Suzuki and that he was going to take him out for everyone here in Budokan. Suzuki can be seen smiling under the towel. He says Naoya Ogawa is of no consequence to him. He says he's a sacrificial lamb that he's going to rip apart. He says Shinya Hashimoto and Toshiaki Kawada are where they are based on, what? Liger said it himself. They are friends of the boss. If you looked at who REALLY deserves a title shot, who REALLY has been the best and most destructive, the best FIGHTER in Japanese wrestling... Minoru Suzuki is the only answer. He says he has no doubt Naoya Ogawa will bring his best, but it won't be enough. And then he will make sure he will never be denied again.
MATCH SIX
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Minoru Suzuki vs. Naoya Ogawa
Referee: Ted Tanabe
There was a big fight feel to this, as everybody knows that these two are as real as it gets and that we hadn't seen this before. Ogawa is very intense, while Suzuki is smug and confident. Ogawa would unload some big bombs on Suzuki early, which Suzuki had to know was coming, but he needed him to get close to get him down for the ground game. Suzuki would continually look for the Sleeper throughout the match, and was relentless in doing so, having promised before the match he would squeeze the life out of Ogawa. Ogawa would utilize a Katahajime choke of his own at one point, but Suzuki would manage to get to the ropes to break it. Ogawa would try to deliver the STO to get the finish, but Suzuki would reverse it into a Fujiwara Armbar, causing Ogawa to get to the ropes. Suzuki would attempt to get Ogawa into a Heel Hook, but Ogawa would break out of it and mount and blast Suzuki with a series of mounted punches and elbows that would bust Suzuki open over the eyebrow. Ogawa would deliver the STO, but Suzuki would manage to kick out and actually attempted to lock Ogawa into a Cross Armbar, but Ogawa would escape. Ogawa would throw a high kick, but Suzuki would duck it and capture Ogawa from behind and throw him over with a Sleeper Slam into a grounded Sleeper Hold! Suzuki manages to get the hooks in, flattening Ogawa out on the mat, and Ogawa has to tap out! Suzuki gets the win in a thriller and the fans initially give him a positive reaction.
Winner by Submission: Minoru Suzuki
(00:13:39)
Minoru then waves to the outside, and into the ring steps Yoshihiro Takayama and Takao Omori, and they proceed to shove Ogawa out of the ring, and this gets massive boos! Suzuki points and laughs, and they raise Suzuki's hands in victory! Suzuki gets the microphone and says that Shooting Star Pro Wrestling and the NWA are now looking at NO FEAR, and anybody who wants to face the murderer's row can step up! The fans continue to boo as these three make their way to the back, but Kotetsu lets it be known that they are a very imposing looking and very real threat to anybody in the world with their skills and demeanor. Yuji Shindo wonders who is going to try to stop them as we head to a break.
We go backstage, where Yumi Fukawa is standing in with Manami Toyota and Toshiyo Yamada, who are joined by their trainer Jaguar Yokota. Yumi reiterated what LCO had said about their upcoming match earlier; about how they stated they were going to leave Toyota and Yamada in a "blood bath". Yamada says that's nothing new from trash like them, they are always trying to get a cheap rise out of people! Toyota then says that they are just jealous of them and always have been. She says that when they were all training under Jaguar at the AJW Dojo, they knew that Toyota and Yamada were the stars, that's why initially they tried to team up Mita and Shimoda with each of them to try to bring them up. It didn't work. So they fell in line with Akira Hokuto, who taught them how to take short cuts to the top. Toyota says they all looked up to Hokuto when they were coming up, but then she changed. She became bitter, and she lost her way, and now she's even taken in Takako Inoue and poisoned her with her ideals. Toyota says that they are not afraid of LCO; they've bled at their hands before and they've beaten them before, and tonight will be no different. Jaguar then says that she will be watching their backs tonight, because she knows Hokuto and Inoue will probably be trying to get involved, because they are cowards and that's how they operate. She also says that she watched Hokuto grow and saw what should have been the next greatest women's wrestler in the world, the woman to take the torch from her, but she lost her way. She says she cannot stand by and let her drag down anybody else with her without a fight. We then head back to the ring, where Yuji Shindo and Kotetsu Yamamoto are all hyped up for this big women's tag team showdown!
MATCH SEVEN
TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda vs. Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada
Referee: Mac Takeda
These ladies came to have a war, and Mac Takeda let them have all of the leniency they needed to do just that. Mita and Shimoda came to the ring with chairs in hand and used them right away, and things spilled out to the floor. All four women, along with Akira Hokuto, Takako Inoue, and Jaguar Yokota all fought on the outside in what was a truly chaotic scene. Yamamoto made note that we hadn't seen anything this crazy in the show, which had been relatively straight laced up until now. Toyota would wow the audience with a Moonsault off of a balcony in the crowd onto Shimoda and Inoue as Yokota held them in place, leaving the commentary team speechless. Back in the ring, we saw all of the women pulling out all of the stops, trying to hit their big moves. It ended up being Aja Kong coming down to distract Toyota on the top rope that lead to Mita stopping her and then delivering a SUPER DEATH VALLEY BOMB to get the pinfall!
Winners by Pinfall: Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda
(00:17:05)
Jaguar Yokota, who also trained Kong, went to her and asked why she was out here and why she did what she did... and then KONG NAILED HER WITH THE SPINNING BACKFIST! The fans are going crazy now as Kong just stands motionless for about 10 seconds, staring down at the lifeless body of Yokota. First Yamada and then Toyota come out to check on her and shove Kong away, who snaps out of the fugue like trance and begins to threaten them. LCO celebrate in the ring, laughing and mocking their opponents as Kong leaves in a rage and we head back to the announcer's table, where they try to digest what just happened.
We get a quick graphic advertising the next SSPW show. The show, entitled "STAR POWER", will be taking place at Korakuen Hall on March 11th.
MATCH EIGHT
SIX PERSON TAG TEAM RULES
One Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Kaz Hayashi, Shoichi Funaki, and Taka Michinoku vs. Great Sasuke, Jushin Liger, and Tiger Mask IV
Referee: Keigo Yoshino
We had ourselves another wild one here, but this was a lucha libre influenced affair. Mens Teioh and Dick Togo made their presence felt on the outside on behalf of their Kai En Tai partners, but Sasuke, Liger, and TM were spectacular in their ability to overcome the odds... mostly. Sasuke and Tiger Mask would hit one of the most memorable spots of the match near the end, as they did tumbling, flipping dives to the outside to wipe out Funaki, Togo, and Hayashi, getting a nice response from the crowd. While Yoshino was distracted by everything going on outside, Teioh would manage to blast Liger in the face with a handful of powder, blidning the founder of SSPW! Taka Michinoku would follow up, delivering a Michinoku Driver II, and that's all she wrote! Kai En Tai stole one here tonight!
Winners by Pinfall: Kaz Hayashi, Shoichi Funaki, and Taka Michinoku
(00:14:58)
After the match, Great Sasuke gets on the microphone and challenges Kai En Tai to a TEN MAN tag team match at "STAR POWER"! Mens Teioh gets on the mic quickly and says they beat them tonight and they'll beat them again at Korakuen Hall! Taka takes the microphone from him and starts to yell at him, and there is some arguing going on between them before Taka snatches the microphone and says, "Yeah, we'll have no problem kicking your asses again!" He then slaps Teioh on the back of the head and they retreat.
We go backstage one last time, where we see Yumi Fukawa catching up with Shinya Hashimoto and Naoya Ogawa in the back. Ogawa is looking rough after his match with Minoru Suzuki earlier, which saw him take a little punishment from NO FEAR after the fact. Ogawa says that bastard Suzuki is tougher than he thought, and tells Hashimoto to watch his back. Hashimoto says he has brought another friend with him to keep an eye on him in case anybody tries to interfere. Fukawa asks who it is, but Hashimoto just tightens his headband and says he needs to get to the ring. It's GO TIME!
We then head to the ring, where Katsumi Sasazaki, Hiroshi Hase, and Jim Barnett are standing with the NWA Double Crown, consisting of the NWA International and United National championships, which were formerly part of the All Japan Pro Wrestling Triple Crown before that championship became defunct. Hase stands holding the International championship while Barnett is holding the United National belt, and Sasazaki asks that everyone please rise for the national anthem.
The fans all applaud, and then we head back to Eiji Tosaka, who is ready to introduce our competitors in this main event championship showdown!
MATCH NINE
NWA DOUBLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP
SINGLES RULES
One Fall, 30 Minute Time Limit
Shinya Hashimoto vs. Toshiaki Kawada
Referee: Ted Tanabe
Tanabe calls for the bell, but neither man moves. Akira Taue is outside in Kawada's corner and is looking on intensely as Kawada sizes up his opponent. Shinya knows Kawada is explosive and steeling his nerves for the punishment he is about to receive. Shinya cries out and makes the first move forward, and we have a lock up. They battle and struggle for position. Kawada attempts to scoop up Hashimoto, but Hashimoto elbows and knees his way out before unloading a series of karate chops to the neck of Kawada. What unfolds from there is big man meat slapping at its finest, as these two really just lay it in. Kawada begins to fire back with knife edged chops before unloading his signature kicks. Hashimoto is also known for his kicks, so this fires him up. These two have very, very similar wrestling styles and have been compared to each other throughout the years, so this is a war these fans had been clamoring for and they looked on in awe. Kawada's kicks in the corner seemed to bludgeon the chest of Hashimoto like he was hitting him with a baseball bat. Kawada would run off the buckles and back, delivering a High Front Kick, and that would knock Hashimoto down to his knees and then he would roll out of the ring.
Kawada would try to go out to pursue but Tanabe would grab him and plea with him to stop. Tanabe would inadvertently leave Hashimoto open to an attack for Taue on the outside. Taue would lift Hashimoto up by his throat and throw him into the guardrail HARD! Taue would then choke him against the rail. Out from the back ran MASATO TANAKA, who would run and BLAST Taue with an elbow strike, breaking Hashimoto free! Taue would stumble, and Tanaka would run and send him over the railing and into the crowd with a clothesline! Tanaka would check on Hashimoto as Tanabe would see what all of the ruckus is about. Hashimoto would push Tanaka away and point at Kawada and yell that he is coming for him!
Hashimoto would get back into the ring and Kawada would get back on the attack as soon as he entered the ring. Kawada would attempt a Powerbomb, but the hefty Hashimoto would block it. Kawada would transition and begin kicking him repeatedly in the face! Kawada would then hook him in and hoist him up, drilling him with a Brainbuster, but he would only get a two count on the pin attempt. Kawada would transition and lock on the Stretch Plum, but Hashimoto would manage to power out and deliver a series of kicks, followed by chops in the corner and then a Spike DDT for a two count! Hashimoto would try to lock on a Triangle Choke, but Kawada would escape and lock him into a Half Boston Crab, which he would accompany with stomps to the back of Shinya's head! Hashimoto would get to the ropes to break it up.
Kawada would grab Hashimoto from behind for a German Suplex, but Hashimoto would break free and run off of the ropes, delivering a High Speed Spinning Wheel Kick! Hashimoto would run and grab Kawada, delivering another DDT, but still just a two count! Hashimoto would then lift Kawada up by his waist and try for a German Suplex, but Kawada would elbow out this time and then hit a Backwards Twisting Enzuigiri to clean Shinya's clock! Kawada would try to lock on a Stretch Plum style hold to a standing Hashimoto, but Hashimoto would manage to use a Judo throw to get out of it! Hashimoto would run off of the ropes and try for a Lariat, but Kawada would duck and then catch him with a Rolling Heel Kick, and both men are down! Hashimoto gets to a knee and Toshiaki kicks him in the face from his back, sending him into the ropes. Kawada then gets up and grabs him by the hair and pulls him in. Kawada lifts him up and DUMPS HIM ON THE BACK OF HIS NECK WITH A SICK FOLDING POWERBOMB!
Kawada tries to hold him down, but Hashimoto just kind of rolls over and out of the pin, but Yamamoto says that looked like instinct more than anything. He thinks Hashimoto may be completely out of it. The fans are chanting "HASHI-MOTO! HASHI-MOTO!", trying to will their hero to keep fighting. Kawada looks to them with his toothless countenance and slices a thumb across his throat, calling for the end. Kawada grabs Hashimoto and holds his head down, kicking him repeatedly once more before hooking him in. Kawada tries for another Brainbuster, but Hashimoto floats over it and grabs him from behind with a GERMAN SUPLEX! Hashimoto can't hold onto it, however, but he does manage to wobble to his feet. Kawada stumbles up as well. Shinya sends one... two... three left sided shoot kicks into the liver area of Kawada. Kawada catches a fourth one coming, but Shinya is quick to snap off an Enzuigiri with his right leg to take him down. Kawada is on all fours and Hashimoto grabs him by the waist again and lifts him up, but Kawada elbows and stomps his foot to get out of it. Kawada is hurting and slowly runs off of the ropes. He tries for a High Kick, but Hashimoto ducks it and then catches him with a Back Roundhouse Kick to the mid-section. Hashimoto then hooks him in...
BRRRAAAAIIIINNNBUUUUUSSSSSSTTTTTTAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH~!!!
Hashimoto makes the cover as Taue is slapping the mat, begging Kawada to kick out, but to no avail! Hashimoto gets the win and the fans go insane!
Winner by Pinfall, and NEW NWA DOUBLE CROWN CHAMPION: Shinya Hashimoto
(00:23:25)
Masato Tanaka hits the ring and helps Shinya up as he is presented his title belts by Hiroshi Hase. Hashimoto manages to get them over his shoulder. Kawada and Taue attempt to leave dejected when out storms NO FEAR! Minoru Suzuki, Yoshihiro Takayama, and Takao Omori all head down the ramp and they beat down Kawada and Taue! Hashimoto and Tanaka see this, but can't do much as all three men rush into the ring. They begin to fight Tanaka and Hashimoto, and out runs Naoya Ogawa, along with event security, and we've got a wild scene on our hands! Security and officials are keeping everyone apart as Suzuki is yelling that those belts are his as the show comes to an end!
