WCW Thursday Thunder episode 10 for 01.12.23
Taped from the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Illinois
Commentary: Gorilla Monsoon and Don Callis
Ring Announcer: Gary Michael Cappetta
Interviewer: SoCal Val
Referees: Tommy Young, Joey Marella and Aubrey Edwards
Honky Tonk Man defeated Larry Sweeny by pinfall via Shake, Rattle and Roll at 5:34.
In a backstage pretape, Larry Zbyszko goes to Shane McMahon and complains about Tony Garea being brought in. He had to carry his ass when they were a tag team before and he wasn’t going to do it again. McMahon thought he was doing Larry a favor. He hasn’t been exactly setting the world on fire since coming to WCW. Zbyszko just needs the right opportunity and he’s not happy about not being booked for Starrcade yet. McMahon tells him to beat Garea on Nitro and he’ll see about giving him a bout on ppv.

Ember Moon defeated Kris Wolf by pinfall via Eclipse at 5:56.
In a backstage pretape, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff tells Magnum TA that nobody calls out Mr. Wonderful without retribution. He wants a WCW World Title shot at Starrcade? Well, so does everybody else in the locker room. Magnum might have beat Tom Magee on Nitro in a cheap way, but that means nothing. If Magnum TA can beat Orndorff’s handpicked mystery opponent on the next Nitro, then just maybe he’ll think about giving him a title shot at some point down the road, if he’s lucky.

“Superstar” Billy Graham defeated Moose Cholak by submission via full nelson at 5:55.
In a backstage pretape, the Patriot challenges Blue Demon Jr. and Thunder Rosa to face him and Madusa Micelli on the next Nitro. She has that one patriotic outfit after all. And as for a mask vs. mask match at Starrcade? Sure, why not. If Demon wins, even though that’s highly unlikely to happen, Patriot will just go buy a new mask. It’s just a mask.

In backstage pretape, Chris Jericho said he heard what Kurt Angle said on Nitro. Being the new UWA Universal Men’s Champion is taking him all over the world, but WCW will always be his home. Jericho isn’t afraid of being in the same building as Angle and he better be there on Nitro, because Y2J is coming home. Oh, it’s true, it’s damn true.
Shane McMahon in the ring announces the entrants into the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match at Starrcade and they’re going to face each other now in a six-woman tag match.
Molly Holly, Taya Valkyrie and Lady Frost defeated Mickie James-Aldis, Madusa Micelli and Mickie James Aldis by pinfall of Frost on James-Aldis via Ice Pick DDT at 14:44. Frost ducks the Mick Kick, hits a Flash Kick and nails the DDT for the win. Monsoon on commentary notes James won’t like that as she didn’t like Frost eliminating her from the Terrific Tussle.
