Mean Gene Okerlund welcomed the new WWE Intercontinental Champion Eddie Guerrero to the ring. Fresh off his title win this past Monday, Latino Heat was joined by his Mamacita, Vickie Guerrero, who he thanked for being his partner in life and crime. Eddie said that in winning the championship for the second time and taking it back from the idiot who stole it from him, it proved that Latino Heat is the smartest and most gifted professional wrestler in this business, and he defied anyone to prove him one.
Cue Shawn Michaels! The Heartbreak Kid came to the ring and congratulated Eddie on a fine win, but said that in discussing it, all he had proved that he is the world’s greatest liar. Eddie didn’t win the title because he’s smarter or more gifted than everyone else. He won it because the smartest man in wrestling, his best friend, the Cerebral Assassin, Triple H, served it to him on a silver platter. And he sure isn’t the most gifted professional wrestling in this business. That distinction belongs to the Heartbreak Kid. The fiery side of Latino Heat started to come out as he challenged HBK to prove him wrong. HBK said he would gladly do that.
Before Michaels could do to Guerrero what he had done to Cole, “Ravishing” Rick Rude came to the ring. He said HBK was a cheap, second rate imitator with spaghetti arms, and told Vickie that the only man hot enough to bring the heat was the one talking into the microphone right now. He invited Vickie to experience what a real man feels and tastes like.
Eddie attacked Rude out of pure anger. When they bumped into Michaels, he got upset and fired off a Sweet Chin Music. Rude moved and it hit Guerrero instead. Then, Rude gave Michaels a Rude Awakening. He started to approach Vickie, who backed away and out of the ring. Rude picked up the Intercontinental Championship and held it in the air as the segment drew to an end.

Roman Reigns defeated Pete Dunne by submission to the guillotine choke at 5:49. After the match ended, Paul Heyman delivered a message to “Stone Cold” Steven Austin, who is still at home nursing his broken ribs. The Tribal Chief hopes Austin was watching this match closely because this is what he can expect to have happen to him – to have the life choked out of him and his title reign – that is, if he even makes it to WrestleMania.

Mean Gene Okerlund caught up with Daniel Bryan earlier today to ask him about comments his made after his match last week on Smackdown, when he said he was the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bryan stood by his comments, and he defied anyone to prove him wrong. The wrestling ring is his office and he works seven days a week, so someone, anyone come see him and try to tell him he isn’t the best wrestler in professional wrestling.

The Hardy Boyz defeated Men of the Year by pinfall at 12:06 when Matt Hardy pinned Scorpio Sky after he gave him a Twist of Fate, and his brother Jeff executed a swanton dive on him.

Mean Gene Okerlund spoke to the Lucha Brothers about earning the right to challenge FTR for the UWA Universal Tag Team Championships as WrestleMania III. They were energized by their win and excited for the opportunity. They believed that they were the best team in the world and that they win the titles because they had Cero Miedo! FTR showed up rain on their parade. The UWA Universal Tag Team Champions said they were the top tag team in the entire industry. They started the year by becoming WWE Tag Team Champions, then they became the UWA Universal Tag Team Champions, and that’s how they will finish the year. Top guys out.

Kairi Sane defeated Nikki Bella by pinfall at 8:23 after executing an Alabama slam followed by the In-Sane Elbow. UWA Women’s Universal Champion, Sasha Banks was at ringside on commentary for this one. When the match ended, Sane asked for a microphone, then looked at the champion and said, “You and me for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania!” That brought out Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, who had a problem with Sane calling her shot. After being the sole survivor of the Survivor Series match, Baker felt she deserved the title shot. Bianca Belair came out to say the EST of WWE has been the most dominant WWE Women’s Champion, so she should get the shot to become the most dominant UWA Women’s Universal Champion. Awesome Kong came out and said that no one’s held that title more than her and there isn’t a woman in this company who could stop her from being champion again. Banks decided they should all fight in a fatal fourway to decide who gets the shot, this Monday in Philly, and everyone agreed.

The Undertaker made his epic ring entrance. The Phenom’s appearance was hyped as an announcement about his plans for WrestleMania. When The Undertaker finished stepping into the ring, he took the microphone from Howard Finkel and said he came here because he has some business to tend to. When people think of the biggest and best superstars to ever set foot in this ring, his name often comes to mind, but it isn’t the only name that comes to mind. There are others. And now it is time to find out which superstar truly is the greatest WWE superstar of all-time. That’s why tonight, I’m calling out –
Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 9” hit the arena sound system and up on the entrance stage stood WALTER! The Ring General strode to the ring with an air of confidence rarely seen. He stepped foot in the ring and walked right up to The Undertaker. “Do you think I fear death?” he asked, rhetorically. He knew that The Deadman wasn’t going to say “WALTER,” but after WrestleMania III, it will be the only name he ever speaks of again. He threw the microphone down, folded his arms behind his back, and stood upright, about foot away from The Undertaker. There was no fear on his face. The Undertaker told WALTER he was right about one thing – he wasn’t going to say his name. But after Wrestlemania, it will be the third name he speaks after Bray Wyatt and Sting. “If you want to be my next victim, prepare to rest in peace!”

Yokozuna and Umaga of The Bloodline defeated Sheamus and Cesaro of The Bar by pinfall at 10:14 when Yokozuna pinned Cesaro after giving him a Banzai Drop. Following the match, Roman Reigns told Yokozuna and Umaga that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin needed some roommates at the hospital, so the two behemoths went to work on Sheamus and Cesaro. Just when Yokozuna was ready to give Cesaro another Banzai drop, the sound of shattered glass signaled the arrival of the Texas Rattlesnake!
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin motored down to ringside on a four-wheeler, then slid into the ring and started attacking. However, it was 3-on-1, and these three were too much for even Austin to handle, that was, until Sting dropped down from the ceiling with his great equalizer in hand – his famous black baseball bat. Sting took shots at Yokozuna and Umaga, who both ended up out of the floor. Reigns escaped Austin and Sting, who urged them to come back for more. Instead, The Bloodline slinked away. Austin grabbed a microphone and cut a quick promo promising to whip each of their asses so bad they’ll be called The Bloodline because of how much of their blood was spilled by ol’ Stone Cold. His championship ain’t goin’ nowhere and that’s the bottom line because Stone Cold said so!

Mean Gene Okerlund spoke to #DIY to get their thoughts on who would emerge victorious this Monday between the Usos and Harlem Heat to become the top contenders to their WWE Tag Team Championships. They talked of how both teams would be worthy challengers, but before they could give an answer, the Hardy Boyz showed up to say that they wanted Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa to know that their biggest challenge would come from Matt & Jeff. They saw what they did out there tonight and there is no denying it. The Hardy Boyz want a shot at the championships and if given a chance they know they would win them. Gargano and Ciampa bristled at the notion and suggested Matt and Jeff meet #DIY in the ring next Friday on Smackdown to see how worthy they were of a shot at the titles. Matt and Jeff agreed.

WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defeated Ruby Riot by pinfall at 9:53 after she executed a Manhandle Slam on her. After the match, Lynch said this was but a tune up match for WrestleMania. You didn’t see the best of her tonight, and she still won in under ten minutes. But believe her, at WrestleMania, you’re going to get the best version of Becky Lynch there is. Big Time Becks is coming to smack the taste of the mouth of Trish Stratus and retain the WWE Women’s Championship!

Mr. McMahon called into Smackdown via satellite because he was away on important business. He was watching the show live from his hotel room in Los Angeles, where WrestleMania III will occur, and saw that Sting once again came to ruin his show. Mr. McMahon is sick and tired of Sting popping up unannounced to wreck havoc on WWE programming. This must come to an end. So, Mr. McMahon has an interesting proposition for Sting. Since he know Sting will be in Philadelphia on Monday anyhow, why doesn’t he meet him in the ring? He’ll even wave the terms of the restraining order for one night only. Sting and Mr. McMahon in the ring, face-to-face, one-on-one. Come on Sting, let’s make a deal!

Ricky Steamboat defeated The Miz by pinfall at 9:33 when he took The Miz down with a school-boy roll-up. The Miz nearly stole the win with the help of his beloved wife, Maryse Ouellet, who jumped on the ring apron to distract Steamboat when he was setting up for a piledriver. Steamboat waited too long and The Miz countered out of the set up with a back body drop. However, The Miz was then distracted by the surprise arrival of Sable! She pulled Maryse down from the apron and decked her with a right forearm. With his back turned to Steamboat, The Miz was an easy target for a roll-up.
Immediately after he was pinned, The Miz left the ring to prevent Sable from giving Maryse a TKO by yanking on her hair. A tense standoff occurred until Brock Lesnar arrived to join his wife’s side, causing The Miz and Maryse to hightail it through the audience to safety.
That could have been the end of the show, but then “Judas” by Fozzy took over the arena, and the UWA Men’s Universal Champion “Lionheart” Chris Jericho walked down to the ring where Ricky Steamboat was celebrating his win. Jericho said he came to congratulate Steamboat on getting the shot at his championship. He’s watched everything Steamboat has had to endure to get to this point. It’s been nothing short of impressive. However, impressive won’t be enough to beat the “Lionheart”. He too has had to undertake a long hero’s journey to transition from his fat, out of shape, rockstar days back into the amazing physical specimen standing before your very eyes. Steamboat told Jericho that he’s watched his return to prominence from afar. When Jericho left WWE, he and his Inner Circle were utterly humiliated by the Hart Foundation. That had to be hard. So he applauds Jericho for returning to the company as the greatest champion in the entire universe. However, the only thing is that when he gets back in a WWE ring, things won’t be much different than the last time he was in it – he’ll be flat on his back staring up at the lights. Jericho told Steamboat that the ”Lionheart” is the best in the world at what he does, and if he thinks he can beat him, he’s sorely mistaken. When all is said and done, at the end of WrestleMania, Jericho will still be the UWA Men’s Universal Champion!
