Announce Team: The Professional Brian Myers & Pat McAfee
Pat and Brian Welcome us to Waco Texas! We will be hearing from both General Manager William Regal and Promoter Paul Boesch later tonight, but first, we hit the ring for the first of four matches tonight in the first round of the World Class Tag Team Championship Tournament.
The Road Warriors vs The Killer Bees - World Class Tag Team Tournament First Round Match
Nice ovation for the OVW imports, but we soon get a classic Road Warrior Pop when Ironman cranks up and Hawk & Animal rush the ring. Jim Brunzell & B. Brian Blair are ready for them, but are quickly overpowered and both dumped to the floor. The referee manages to cool things off long enough for Blair to get in the ring and we get a bell.
Blair's wrestling ability keeps Animal off balance to start with. Arm wringer, drop toehold and Blair hammerlocks Animal face first into the mat. Driving knees into the arm. Animal crawls to the ropes and Blair breaks clean. Animal gets to his feet and immediately levels Blair with a clothesline. Tag to Hawk. repeated jumping shoulder blocks. and Blair is struggling to his corner.
Hawk Sends Blair headfirst into the turnbuckle in front of his partner and beckons Brunzell to get in the ring and get some. Jumpin' Jim vaults over the ropes and snaps off a dropkick. Hawk completely no sells the impact, and Press Slams Brunzell over the ropes.
Blair drops down and the Bees confer , huddled against the ring steps. Hawk tags Animal, and then rolls out to the floor in pursuit. The Bees pop up and have the masks on! They slide in the ring and catch Animal off guard with a double dropkick! he staggers back into the ropes. The Bees hit the opposite ropes together, Hawk trips one of them from the floor, Animal catches the other with a snap powerslam and cradles him tight for 1...2....3
Your Winners, via Pinfall (7:54) The Road Warriors!
Hawk and Animal toss the referee out of the ring and raise each other's arms. Pat is in awe of another impressive showing from Hawk & Animal and crowns them the early favorites to emerge as champions. Brian reminds him there are plenty of matches to come. He sends us backstage to where Paul Boesch is standing.
Paul welcomes the crowd to Waco for more exciting World Class Championship Wrestling. He is glad to be here tonight to make a couple of announcements. Normally, he leaves the match announcements to Mr. Regal, but the GM has a lot on his plate tonight.
We all remember seeing Devastation, Inc abduct Lacey Von Erich. General Akbar has assured him that she is safe and in no immediate physical danger. Kevin, Kerry & David are naturally skeptical and are demanding some retribution. Therefore, I have secured signatures on a contract that guarantees Lacey will be in San Antonio on December 31st. There, we will have a special Six Man Tag Team War between David, Kevin, & Kerry Von Erich and Akbar's Army of The Mercenaries and Vader. No Pinfalls, Submissions, Count outs or Disqualifications. All six men will be locked inside a cage and the only way to win the match is for all three members of one team to be down all at once for the same 10 count. There will be one referee, stationed outside the cage who is there only to count to ten.
Paul also says he has been working with the WCCW Executive Committee of offer contracts to several new stars. Be on the lookout for even more great wrestling talent on World Class programming. Now, back to ringside for more action.
Pat lets out an extended Wow. Brian says that match sounds brutal. They don't have much time to expand on what we just heard, as Entrance music plays, and we head to the ring.
The Dynamic Duo vs Doom w/ Sensational Sherri - World Class Tag Team Tournament First Round Match
Adams uses his Judo skill to put the Natural on his heels. swift kicks and chops have Reed in serious peril early on. he tries to get to Simmons, but Gino's heel tactics are on point tonight, causing the referee to miss one tag and order Ron out of the ring, then drawing Simmons in several times, allowing the Duo to double team Butch even longer. Sherri is on the apron objecting, but it ends with her being tossed out of the ringside area!
Simmons has enough and storms in past the referee and hurls Gino to the floor, then gives Adams a big boot. Sherri gives Hernandez a SLAP as she makes her way up the ramp. The referee is threatening a DQ, and does not see Buddy Murphy slide in the ring behind Doom and BLAST Butch Reed with a chair! Simmons goes after him, only to be SUPERKICKED by Adams! Gino Slide in the ring, grabs the confused referee and makes the easy cover 1..2..3
Your Winners, via Pinfall (9:31) The Dynamic Duo!
Brian is appalled at the Duo's methods. Pat says it wasn't a secret that Murphy and the Dynamic Duo have been in cahoots with one another, and Sherri needed to have a plan.
We cut to the back, where we see Kevin & Kerry Von Erich. Kevin knows his niece would want the brothers to keep their minds on the task at hand, and focus on winning the Tag Team Title Tournament, because their success helps the entire family. Kerry want to get his hands on the Freebirds, as he isn't convinced that THEY aren't the ones under the Mercenaries disguises.
Pat is shocked at the accusations we just heard. Brian reminds us that they first suspected the Dynamic Duo as well, so he thinks Kerry might just be speaking out of anger and frustration. Pat agrees and turns the attention to the next match.
Rey Mysterio Jr vs. Tito Santana
Brian reminds us that it was Rey in the ring with Rick Martel when Tito attacked in at Fort Bliss, and that Rey even helped Rick to the back after Tito got involved in the Ladder Match at Black Friday. Santana comes out to a full chorus of boos.
The bell rings, and Santana rolls to the floor, trying to play mind games with Rey. Mysterio hits the ropes for a dive to the floor, Tito tucks and rolls out of the way, thinking he outsmarted Rey, while Mysterio pulls up short of his leap and taunts Santana.
Lock up and we get a nice sequence of Lucha-esque grappling, full of flips and fancy rope spring arm drags. That end when Tito cracks Rey in the back of the head and DDTs him for a 2 count. Santana's new vicious streak is on full display, as her is pummeling Rey and barely relents when the official counts to 5 each time. The referee takes time to check on Rey, and Santana roughly tosses Rey to the floor and follows him out. The ring steps are tossed aside, and Tito pulls Rey in for a snap suplex onto the concrete! Tito repositions the ring steps and drags Rey up on to them. PILEDRIVER INTO THE STEPS! The referee has seen enough.
Your Winner, via Disqualification (8:34) Rey Mysterio Jr!
Th bell and referee counts don't seem to slow Tito down any. Tito storms to the table and grabs Brian Myers! he roughly yanks him around by the slacks... and pulls the belt from his trousers!. Tito begins to lay the leather to Rey. Massive red welt begin to appear immediately. The crowd Buzzes. Rick Martel is here! Martel collides with Santana, spilling the two of them into the crowd. The fight continues there, and security is flooding ringside to corral the former partners.
William Regal marches to the stage with a purpose. He is going to try and put a stop to this madness. At The End in San Antonio, it will be Rick Martel versus Tito Santana... in a Strap Match!
Ringside gets cleared, medical leads Rey to the back, and Brian gets his belt back. He notes the blood stains on the leather and Pat can't wait to finally see Strike Force explode.
We cut to a video package recapping the Flair vs. Rhodes series so far, hyping up tonight's Match Six
The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Kevin & Kerry Von Erich - World Class Tag Team Tournament First Round Match
Pat is dancing on the table to Badstreet as the Freebirds come down the ramp. Roberts in is Street clothes, so we are getting the Hayes and Gordy in the ring tonight. Kerry and Gordy start with a test of strength. Kerry gets the advantage and keeps the bigger bird at bay for a while, including an impressive press slam. Kevin in with a dropkick and Hayes tags in. Michael with a thumb to the eye to reverse the momentum. Hayes corners Kevin and the Freebirds take turns putting the boots to Kevin. Gordy rocks him with a powerslam , and Kerry has to break the count. Roberts trips Kevin behind the referee's back. That draws Kerry into the ring, and Gordy meets him while Hayes works over Kevin some more. Gordy stops Kerry from a punch and Roberts points behind him, yelling "It's Lacey" Kerry turns and falls for the ruse, Gordy clotheslines him from behind as Hayes rolls up Kevin for the 1..2..3.
Your Winners, Via Pinfall (12:36) The Fabulous Freebirds
The Birds laugh and celebrate up the ramp as David comes down to check on his brothers. Brian calls that an upset while Pat is belting out Badstreet lyrics. Brian says he has just been informed that in two weeks at The End, We will be getting a rematch between Andre The Giant and Mark Henry. Brian is excited to see them tangle again.
The Von Erichs are still at ringside as Akbar's music plays and The Mercenaries and Vader come to the ramp. David's head snaps around and he takes off up the ramp. Kerry and Kevin give chase and we get a full on brawl on the stage. It takes a dozen security staffers nearly ten minutes to pull everyone apart and lead the Mercenaries to the ring. One of the Mercenaries is limping badly from the brawl, and Brian points out that as good as the Mercenaries have been, against a team like the Brisco Brothers, that injury will be quite a handicap.
The Mercenaries w/ General Skandor Akbar vs. Jack & Jerry Brisco - World Class Tag Team Tournament First Round Match
As if they were listening, Jack and Jerry quickly manipulate the injured Mercenary's limb and take full control. Akbar tries to get involved, and gets caught. He gets sent to the back to the approval of the crowd. The other Mercenary is able to tag himself in, but with his partner immobilized, the Brisco's take him down with their constant pressure (and a little cheating here and there) and he falls victim to a brainbuster from Gerry and a pinfall loss.
Your Winners, Pinfall (9:46) Jack & Jerry Brisco!
Pat tells us now THAT is a huge upset. Brian agrees, as the UWF stalwarts have just eliminated what has been probably the most dominant team since the relaunch. This opens the tag team title bracket wide open now.
Pat points us to the stage, where The Bastard is standing with a microphone. He's pissed off that he has to defend his title tonight, while Ali gets the night off. He's going to make an example of whomever is unlucky enough to be coming down to that ring tonight.
Pac (C) vs. Apollo Crews - Southwest Heavyweight Championship Match
Pac does not react when Apollo hits the ramp. Fast paced action starts us off, and it does not relent for 15 full minutes. Dives, dropkicks, top rope shenanigans all around, slowly devolves into hard elbow and knee strikes. Brian notes that the match has a 20 minute time limit, and that leaves less than five minutes left in the bout. Apollo goes for the standing moonsault, but Pac gets the knees up and locks in the Brutalizer. Crews tries to hang on, but taps with seconds left to go.
Your Winner, via Pinfall, (19:56) and still Southwest Heavyweight Champion, Pac!
Pat says he's been waiting all night for this. Brian wonders if tonight is the night we crown the World Class Heavyweight Champion. We understand Paul Boesch is backstage with the title belt, ready to present it to the winner, and the locker rooms are being covered in plastic in anticipation ala the Stanly Cup and World Series. He throws to the ring announcer to get us underway.
The Nature Boy Ric Flair vs. The American Dream Dusty Rhodes - World Class Heavyweight Championship Best of Seven Series - Match Six
Flair Leads the Series 3-2
Lights go down and fill out boxing style introductions. Flair is dressed in his white trunks, and Brian muses that we all know what that means for tonight. The match starts out very amateurish, with takedowns and holds and reversals. Flair pokes the eyes and takes Dusty down to work on the knee. Dusty rallies to catch Flair in a sleeper. Flair into the ropes to break the hold, but Dusty does not relent and they tumble through to the floor. Trading blows back and forth now, Flair crashes hard into the barricade. Dusty rolls him back in and tries to cover. Flair kicks out and Rhodes drops a couple of elbows.
Flair rolls out of the way and tries to work the knee again. Dusty with a backdrop and press slam. Flair chops Dusty until his chest is beet red. Flair does the fip over the ropes, and dusty runs him into the post! Flair is bleeding now, but that seems to have the opposite effect, as Flair is the one wearing Dusty down with an abdominal stretch and a snap suplex.
On and on we go, 45 minutes deep so far. Both foreheads are opened up, and crimson streaks are everywhere. Flair ducks a wild punch, lifts Dusty for a belly to back suplex. He bridges and the referee counts 1...2...3!
Your Winner......
The Bell sounds, but no announcement is made. The referee and Timekeeper are discussing the finish, as both competitors are pleading their cases Brian and Pat call for the replays to be cued up on their monitors, and we see Flair and Dusty both have shoulders on the mat as the count begins. A millisecond before the three count is made, Rhodes rolls his shoulder just enough. That was the vantage point of the referee, where the timekeeper was obscured and thought the match was a draw.
Your Winner, via Pinfall (46:22) The American Dream Dusty Rhodes!
Pat says he is emotionally and mentally exhausted just from watching that match. He can't imagine how Flair and Rhodes feel. Brian wonders how they can top that performance in Match seven. pat quips one of them will need to if they want to become the World Class Heavyweight Champion. For The Nature Boy and The American Dream, New year's Eve in San Antonio will be The End.
