AEW Dynamite - Nov. 30, 2022
We then cut to the crowd and Natural Selection’s music hits. Out walk Brian Cage, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander and Cesar Duran, who grabs a mic.
Duran - “Here in the ring, I am standing with the present and future of this business. We’ve got one of the strongest men in all of wrestling in Brian Cage, and two of the most athletically talented wrestlers ever in Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. Mark it on your calendars. These men in the ring right now will hold championship belts within the next 12 months. Starting with the AEW World Tag Team Championships, when we beat the Steiner Brothers in three weeks.”
This brings out the Steiners, and Scott has the mic - “I don’t know what you all have been smoking, but I know a couple guys in the back who might want some. The problem with you guys holding these belts is that you have to go through us first. And I don’t care how athletically talented you are, pinning Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner is no easy task.” He hands the mic to Rick, who starts barking. Natural Selection starts to head up the ramp to attack, but stops when The New Day emerge from backstage. The three groups all stare at each other as we head to commercial.

Match 1 - Hook (8-3) vs. Ari Daivari (0-0)
Hook marches straight to the ring and attacks a debuting Daivari with a T-Bone suplex, followed by locking in the REDRUM for the win in 48 seconds. Following the match, Taz gets up from the booth and tries to ask Hook a question. Hook looks at him and just says “not now” and walks backstage.

The Apex comes out to the ring, where Jarrett demands a rematch for the AEW World Championship. He lists off his many accomplishments and vows to not leave the ring until he gets his wish as we go to commercial. We come back, and the Apex is still in the ring. Mick Foley comes out to the stage.
Foley - “Jeff Jarrett, I was talking with Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan backstage about this, and we came up with a solution. See, AEW isn’t in the business of handing out rematches just for funsies. And Cody wants to have and opponent at Winter is Coming. All you have to do to get in that match, Double J, is to beat me next week. And you won’t know who’s coming out here. It could be Mrs. Foley’s Baby Boy! Or any of the other three faces I wear from time to time. Ta-ta for now!” Foley smiles and waves, and walks to the back as Jarrett looks on angrily.
—
Match 2 - RVD & Sabu (2-0) vs. American Wolves (6-7)
RVD & Sabu get the win in 9:24 after Sabu hits the Arabian Piledriver on Eddie Edwards and RVD hits the Five Star Frog Splash for the pinfall.
Following the match, Peter Avalon emerges from backstage and tells RVD & Sabu that their arrival has poisoned the mind of Dean Malenko. Avalon’s low blow of Malenko last week was for Dean’s own good, and Avalon has his true best interests at heart. RVD and Sabu leave the ring and walk toward Avalon, who scatters quickly to the back.
—
We get a recap of the attack on Alexa Bliss from last week, with the mysterious zombie-looking woman abducting Bliss after she came to Serena Deeb’s aide last week. #WinterIsComing flashes on the screen.
—
Malakai Black comes to the ring flanked by his House of Black. His face has a few extra tendrils on it as he grabs a mic. “Hook, you have made the biggest mistake of your life. I offered a spot in the House of Black and you not only turned me down, but you spit in my face with a sledgehammer. All the wrath of the House of Black will rain down on you. And Raven? Clearly we are not yet finished. My associate here, Billy Kidman, wants to settle things with you on his own terms as well.”
—
Match 3 - Brian Cage (7-3) w/ Cesar Duran vs. Kofi Kingston (2-0)
Kingston tries to stay out of Cage’s reach throughout the match and rushes in with quick attacks, and even hitting a Trouble in Paradise that Cage kicks out of. Cage responds angrily and hits the Drill Claw twice before pinning Kingston for the win at 8:10.
—
Tony Khan is walking backstage when Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo confront him. Before they can talk, Tony smiles wide and says they’re just who he wanted to see. “Sammy! Before you launch into another tirade, I heard you loud and clear last week. You’re absolutely right that you deserve a shot at something. So here’s the deal — you’re in the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale. There’s your chance to take the bull by the horns; grab the brass, er, diamond ring, so to speak.”
Guevara nods, and then asks about Melo. She should be in the match tonight. Tony shrugs and says, “sure,” but if she gets pinned, she’s out of the title picture.
—
Match 4 - Non-Title - Sasha Banks (3-0) vs. Riho (5-6)
Riho plays the plucky underdog throughout, but can’t hang with the UWA Women’s Champion and taps out to the Bank Statement at 7:52.
After the match, Jade Cargill confronts Sasha Banks and says she’s ready for her rematch. She’ll see Sasha at the Battle of the Belts in January. Banks nods her head, but says Cargill needs to concentrate on her defense of the AEW Women’s Championship at Winter is Coming first. Banks says she’ll agree to the match at Battle of the Belts if the AEW title is also on the line. Cargill replies, “whatever it takes” and walks off.
—
Match 5 - The Acclaimed (4-3) vs. The Butcher and the Blade (2-5)
The Acclaimed get the win after Caster hits the Mic Drop on The Blade at 5:13.
—
Samoa Joe is backstage and talks about his time in AEW so far. He puts over Jon Moxley and the toll the barbed wire match took on both. He knows Mox is healing and just biding his time for a return. When Mox returns, Joe wants to be prepared. In fact, he wants to be a champion. “Jake Hager. We’re 1-and-1 against each other. I want my rubber match. And I promise it won’t be pleasant for you.”
—
Main Event - AEW Women’s Title Contender Match:
Ronda Rousey (3-1) vs. Paige VanZant (8-4) vs. Tay Melo (8-1)
Rousey and VanZant go straight for each other, while Melo hangs back for much of the match. Ater VanZant backdrops Rousey out of the ring, Melo attacks VanZant’s legs and takes her to the mat with a variety of kicks. Rousey slides back in and the match turns into a three-way brawl until Rousey hits the Piper’s Pit on Melo. VanZant kicks Rousey in the gut and hits the Pedigree on her for the 1…2…NO! Rousey kicks out.
VanZant sets up for a spear, but Rousey moves out of the way and VanZant spills to the floor, where she lands awkwardly on her arm. Rousey turns her attention to Melo and hits another Piper’s Pit on her. She goes for the pinfall, but it’s broken up by VanZant! While Melo is out, VanZant and Rousey string reversals together, until Rousey finally locks in an armbar on VanZant’s bad arm. VanZant struggles for a minute and looks about ready to tap when Melo breaks it up with a knee drop across Rousey’s face. She continually kicks Rousey until she rolls out of the ring, while VanZant is cradling her arm.
Melo goes to Vanzant and grabs her arm, hitting an arm drag and locking in her own Cross Armbar! VanZant struggles for a long time, but finally taps out! Melo wins at 18:04 and rushes up to Guevara, who is standing with a big smile on the stage. In the ring, an angry Rousey places VanZant’s injured arm in a chair and stomps on it repeatedly until security stops her, and we end with a preview for next week’s Dynamite.
