AJ STYLES vs. PETE DUNNE : AJ Styles and Pete Dunne opened the show with a long contest that featured equal measures of technically precise wrestling and quick, high-impact attacks. Pete Dunne showed his resilience in clawing and dragging himself to the ropes to escape the Calf Crusher. He also did well to avoid the Styles Clash and kicked out of a pinfall following a Phenomenal Forearm. Dunne manipulated Styles’ joints and gave Styles several variations of suplexes to wear him down on route to executing the Bitter End. Styles kicked out, much to Dunne’s surprise. However, the second time he executed the maneuver, he got the 3-count to get the upset win. (21:03) -- Winner by Pinfall: Pete Dunne
“Mean” Gene interviewed WWE Intercontinental Champion Ricky Steamboat to find out who he would rather have win tonight’s main event. Steamboat said that while he would be happy for his friend Daniel Bryan if he won, he had no preference for who wins. Whether it’s Daniel Bryan or Eddie Guerrero, tonight’s winner will lose to him at Hell in a Cell.
BEST FRIENDS vs. BEER MONEY INC. : The team of Chuck Taylor and Trent Berreta made their WWE debut. They were accompanied to the ring by Orange Cassidy. True to his sloth-like nature, Cassidy did not do much of anything. Bobby Roode and James Storm executed Drinking While Investing on Chuck Taylor. Roode made the cover while Storm hit Berreta with a Last Call to knock him off the ring apron. (6:20) -- Winner by Pinfall: Beer Money Inc.
RHEA RIPLEY vs. BILLIE KAY : WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley made short work of the IIconic Billy Kay when she put her in the Prism Trap, forcing her to quickly tap out. (3:37) -- Winner by Pinfall: Rhea Ripley
Triple H came to the ring with a message for Kevin Owens that shutting down NXT was nothing personal. It was just business. The demands of the job were many and it didn’t pay well. When he wrestled Samoa Joe for the Mash-Up Wrestling Men’s World Championship at Wrestlemania, he didn’t win. He couldn’t win and he didn’t deserve to win because he wasn’t 100% focused on winning the gold. He won’t let that happen again. He said he would have tried to get Owens a job, but he already burned his bridges in WWE, so really it was his own damn fault that he is now unemployed. Now, if Owens never shows his face here again, he’ll forgive and forget. But if he keeps showing up week-after-week, this will end with Owens being beaten so badly that he won’t step foot in another wrestling ring ever again.
KANE vs. WALTER : Kane put a chokehold on WALTER. As he tried to lift him into a chokeslam, WALTER broke free and gave Kane a huge dropkick. He followed it with a running big boot and then surprised everyone by executing a powerbomb on Kane. He pinned him, but Kane kicked out, so WALTER brought him back to his feet and executed another powerbomb. This time, instead of pinning him, he went to the top rope and executed a frog splash. He covered him to earn the pinfall victory. (14:16) -- Winner by Pinfall: WALTER
After he won, WALTER grabbed a microphone and said that his win here tonight proved that this wrestling ring belonged to Imperium. This is their domain, and no one can take that from them. The Undertaker came out and said that WALTER and Imperium have gone a step too far. They waltz into his yard and claim that it now belongs to them. That doesn’t sit right with him. If he wants to say that ring belongs to him, he’ll have to prove it by beating the Deadman one-on-one. The Undertaker challenges WALTER to a match for his NXT Championship at the event The Undertaker put on the map. If WALTER wants to become famous, this is chance. WALTER accepts the challenge, and The Undertaker tells him that at Hell in a Cell, WALTER will rest in peace.
“Mean” Gene was backstage with NXT Women’s Champion Tenille Dashwood and the IIconics. Billie Kay claimed that Ripley deliberately injured her and the referee refused to end the match because she had a pro-WWE bias. Peyton Royce said that Ripley wouldn’t be so lucky next week when she goes into the ring with her. Dashwood said that she would become a double champion at Hell in a Cell.
BIANCA BELAIR, MICKIE JAMES & NIKKI CROSS vs. BAYLEY & THE BELLA TWINS : A 6-woman brawl broke out in the late stages of the match. After posting Bianca Belair, Bayley climbed onto the ring apron and made a blind tag to Brie Bella who then received a spinebuster from Nikki Cross. As Cross was getting up, Bayley grabbed her from behind and executed the arm-trap headlock driver and pinned her for the win. (7:31) -- Winner by Pinfall: Bayley & The Bella Twins
JIM “THE ANVIL” NEIDHART vs. ROMAN REIGNS : Roman Reigns met a charging attack from The Anvil head on with a Superman punch. After executing a Samoan drop, he gave him a spear and pinned him for the win. After getting the win, Reigns got on the mic, looked down at his fallen opponent, and told him to deliver a message to The Hitman: that Reigns is the head of the table of the Anoa’I Family, and after Hell in a Cell, he’ll also be the head of the table of the Hart Family. (6:45) -- Winner by Pinfall: Roman Reigns
“Mean” Gene interviewed the Billion Dollar Corporation. “Glorious” Bobby Roode and “Cowboy” James Storm were feeling really good about their win tonight, saying that it wouldn’t be long before they get their shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships. John Bradshaw Layfield called himself a Wrestling God after defeating Rowdy Roddy Piper last week. Okerlund questioned “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase about the hand he had in helping JBL secure that win, making sure to mention his black glove. DiBiase didn’t appreciate Okerlund’s line of questioning and threatened to make sure he would be fired if he didn’t keep things professional. Okerlund doubted he could do that, but DiBiase said that money talks. Before anything else could be said, Sting entered the picture with his bat in hand. He had a message for DiBiase. Next week, he will meet him in the ring, and if he brings the black glove with him, Sting will bring his black bat with him.
DANIEL BRYAN vs. EDDIE GUERRERO : Daniel Bryan tried to put Eddie Guerrero in the Yes! Lock. He got Guerrero down to the mat, but Latino Heat fought with everything he had to prevent him from synching the move in. He battled to turn his body around and get his toe on the bottom rope. Guerrero complained about hair pulling and used the moment the referee questioned Bryan to hit him with a dropkick. After giving Bryan the Three Amigos. Guerrero went to the top rope. Bryan got up and tripped up Guerrero, then took him off the turnbuckle with a frankensteiner. Bryan led a Yes! Chant from the corner, ready to go for the running high knee, but Guerrero rolled away and grabbed the referee’s leg. As he pulled himself up, he complained that his eyes were scratched right before the frankensteiner. The referee questioned Bryan. This time when Guerrero tried to strike him, he blocked and fought back. He gave Guerrero his Yes! Kicks, but Guerrero leaned back to avoid the last one. He tried to give Bryan a release German suplex, but he flipped through. While he did, his feet clipped the referee, and knocked him down. Guerero charged at Bryan but got a back body drop over the top rope. Bryan checked on the referee. Guerrero got up, sized up the situation and went to get a chair. He brought it into the ring. He tried to hit Bryan with it, but he did a somersault out of the way. Guerrero slammed the chair on the mat, then tossed it at Bryan. He caught it and Guerrero layed down and looked knocked out. The referee sized up the situation and called for the bell. Guerrero was declared the winner. Bryan protested the decision while Guerrero quickly ran to his lowrider convertible and celebrated his win from there. (26:34) -- Winner by Disqualification: Eddie Guerrero
