Date: April 2, 2021 From: Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York Commentary Team: Mauro Ranallo and William Regal *** ADAM PAGE vs. PETE DUNNE : Page went for a Buckshot Lariat, but Dunne did a matrix evasion to avoid it. He gave Page a superkick, a step-up enzuigiri and a vertical suplex sit-out powerbomb. Page kicked out of the pinfall. Dunne spent the next few minutes trying to manipulate Page’s joints and break his fingers. When he went for the Bitter End, Page countered with a spiked DDT. He tried to pin Dunne, but the Bruiserweight kicked out. They traded blows until Page landed a discus forearm smash and a superkick. He gave Dunne a moonsault fallaway slam and held it for the pin, but Dunne kicked out. Page went to the top rope but when he dove, Dunne was up and gave him a four-star forearm smash out of the air. Dunne deadlifted him into a bridging German suplex for two. He picked him up and gave him an X-plex. He climbed the turnbuckle and attempted a diving double-foot stomp, but Page rolled out of the way. Dunne did a somersault after the landing and charged at Page but received a superkick and then Turn the Page. The Hangman went out to ring apron and timed up the Buckshot Lariat perfectly. He made the cover. 1-2-3! (19:12) Winner: Adam Page DOMINIK DIJAKOVIC vs. PAC : They fought outside the ring early on. PAC wowed the crowd with a space flying tiger drop. As they brawled, Dijakovic knocked PAC down with a discus big boot and then gave him a corkscrew Asai moonsault. In the ring, PAC concentrated and cutting his bigger opponent’s base down with shoot kicks and other attacks aimed at his legs. Dijakovic just tried to use his power to punish PAC. He gave Time to Fly to PAC and pinned him, but he kicked out. He went for Feast Your Eyes, but PAC used his athleticism to flip through, land on his feet and somersault roll to safety. Dijakovic tried to attack but PAC took him over with a standing hurricanrana. After giving him a standing poison rana, PAC went to the top rope and executed the Red Arrow to get the win. (13:50) Winner: PAC LADDER MATCH FOR THE NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS: LUCHA BROS. vs. #DIY vs. IMPERIUM : Highlights of this match included Rey Fénix walking the ropes from one corner to another, then half way around the corner to dive and take Ciampa off the ring apron with a hurricanrana onto a ladder bridging the ring and barricade; Aichner executing a double springboard moonsault onto Penta while he was laid out on a ladder; Penta giving Barthel a Mexican destroyer onto a ladder; Gargano flipping over the rungs of a ladder to pull Fénix off the ladder with a sunset flip powerbomb onto a ladder; Barthel jumping off a ladder to take Gargano off another ladder with a blockbuster; Imperium giving Fénix a diving European uppercut powerbomb combo onto a ladder; Penta climbing a tall ladder near the ropes and executing a diving double-foot stomp onto Ciampa while he was laid out on a ladder bridging the ring and the barricade; Aichner climbing halfway up a ladder to grab Penta from the top of it and execute a falling sit-out powerbomb; and Gargano and Ciampa executing the Meeting in the Middle on Aichner while his head was wedged between the closed rungs of a ladder. It was after that final move that Gargano and Ciampa climbed a ladder together and removed the title belts from off the hook from which they were suspended above the ring to become the first NXT Tag Team Champions. (24:37) Winners: #DIY NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: TONI STORM vs. TENILLE DASHWOOD : Storm executed the Storm Zero but the referee wasn’t in position to count it as the IIconics had come to ringside and created a distraction. Storm knocked Billie Kay off the ring apron with a running forearm smash and then gave Peyton Royce a topé suicida. She tried to climb back into the ring, but Kay grabbed onto her leg. Storm struggled to shake her off. By the time she succeeded, Dashwood was back to her feet. Storm climbed through the ropes and Dashwood hit her with the Spotlight Kick. She covered Storm and hooked her leg. 1-2-3! With the help of her mates from down under, Tenille Dashwood became the first NXT Women’s Champion. (16:05) Winner: Tenille Dashwood NXT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: WALTER vs. Kevin Owens : It was a brutal fight that saw both men taking stiff shots at each other. The flesh on their chests were pounded with such ferocity as to look like raw meat. Owens was the first man to go for the finish when he kicked WALTER and turned around to go for the Stunner, but WALTER had the move scouted and he countered it with a release German suplex. WALTER tried to get the win with a Ripchord Lariat but Owens managed to kick out. Later, Owens countered an Irish whip and executed a Pop-Up Powerbomb. He covered WALTER, but the Ring General kicked out. When they brawled outside the ring, WALTER put Owens through the commentary table with a folding powerbomb. However, by the time he got Owens back to the ring, The Prizefighter recovered just enough to kick out in the nick of time. WALTER put Owens in a triangle choke. Owens got to the ropes and wrapped an arm around the top rope. WALTER released Owens at the count of four but immediately tried to reapply the hold. The referee tried to put them apart and missed Owens giving WALTER a mule kick. Owens went for the Bullfrog Splash but WALTER rolled in towards the turnbuckle to avoid it. He dropped Owens with a big boot and then gave him a Ripchord Lariat and went to the top rope for a big frog splash. That was enough to get the pin and retain the title. (33:41) Winner: WALTER ***

Nice compact write ups for the matches. Agreed with everything that WALTER is a fine champion for NXT. No brainer there. Outside of the main event, I think the opener was my favorite match. That's a good match up of talent and you built that storyline well. Dashwood going over surprised me a little. The ladder match was also great with what sounded like some really exciting spots. A bout that could be a cluster, but you handled that well.
