The show started with John Cena coming out to the ring. He opened up about what happened this past Friday on Smackdown. He believed, and he still does, that there is no way Roman Reigns would be able to beat him one-on-one. Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns came out. Standing on the entrance stage, Roman Reigns said that he did what he said he would do all along. Now, John Cena will have to acknowledge him. He is the better man. He is the head of the table. And he is the man who will go to Wrestlemania and defeat Hulk Hogan for the WWE Universal Championship. John Cena acknowledged that Reigns beat him. He said that he makes no excuses for what happened. He should not have let his emotions get the better of him when Hogan hit him. He dropped the ball and now he has nothing to do at the Showcase of the Immortals. He said that Reigns can have the match, but he shouldn’t count on rematch against Hulk Hogan. He should count on rematch against the Face That Runs the Place. Cena then challenged Hulk Hogan to give him a shot one-on-one for the WWE Universal Championship. He said that after what happened on Friday, when he came to ringside after promising Reigns and Heyman that he wouldn’t get involved in the match, it is the right thing to do. Reigns told Cena that he didn’t care whether it was him or Hogan that entered Wrestlemania as the champion. Either way, it’ll be the Head of the Table leaving Wrestlemania as the champion.
BIANCA BELAIR vs. BAYLEY : Bianca Belair lifted Bayley high above her head into a military press. Bayley reached down and yanked at her nose. Belair let go, Bayley fell down behind her and got a school-girl roll-up with a handful of tights, but Belair still managed to kick out. Belair blocked an attack and kicked Bayley. She went for a whip, but Bayley reversed it 180-degrees and Belair squashed the referee in the corner. Bayley gave her a arm-trap headlock driver, but the referee was down. This gave the Riott Squad an opportunity to come to the ring. Bayley fended off Liv Morgan and took a swipe at Sarah Logan, who jumped down from the ring apron to avoid it. When she turned around, she got a Riot Kick from Ruby Riott. Moments later, Belair got up and gave Bayley the K.O.D. to get the win. (13:19) -- Winner: Bianca Belair
Mean Gene Okerlund was standing by with the Inner Circle. Chris Jericho bragged about his victory over Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart in Calgary. It was a measure of comeuppance for the Hart Foundation. Mean Gene mentioned how Jake Hager failed to defeat Bret “The Hitman” Hart that same day. Hager got angry and walked off camera punching his own head. Santana and Ortiz went after him to calm him down. Jericho told Mean Gene not to worry because there was no way Bret Hart would be winning the tournament anyway, even if it had to come down to the two of them in the finals. Jericho said that the Inner Circle isn’t done with the Hart Foundation and they won’t be until they’ve beaten everyone of those pathetic losers and run them out of the WWE for good. That’s what’s necessary for stealing his moment of glory where he was meant to win the WWE Universal Championship in his hometown of Winnipeg. Sammy Guevara added that they’re going to start running the Hart Foundation out of WWE on Smackdown when he takes on Brian Pillman, who doesn’t stand a chance against the Spanish God. Mean Gene then asked Jericho for comments on his quarterfinal match this Friday on Smackdown against Rowdy Roddy Piper. Jericho said that Piper was a stupid idiot that didn’t stand a chance in the ring with Le Champion. Jericho would use that backwater fourth-grade educated assclown as an example of why you should never bet against Le Champion because he is simply the best in the world at what he does.
JIMMY WANG YANG vs. EDDIE GUERRERO : Yang had Guerrero trapped in the corner, where he gave him a corner backflip kick. He gave Guerrero a monkey flip, but he landed on his feet. Guerrero quickly charged at Yang and gave him a dropkick that sent him into the turnbuckles. Guerrero quickly gave Yang a brainbuster and then a frog splash for the win. (4:52) -- Winner: Eddie Guerrero
HARLEM HEAT vs. WORLD’S GREATEST TAG TEAM : Shelton Benjamin whipped Booker T into the corner and ran in. Booker T jumped over him and gave him a sunset flip. Benjamin kicked out of the pinfall attempt. Booker ducked a clothesline and gave Benjamin an arm ringer into a hook kick. He ran to the ropes and executed an axe kick as Benjamin was trying to get up. Booker did the spinaroonie and tagged in Stevie Ray, who hit Benjamin with a hard clothesline and tagged Booker. They were setting up for a Towering Inferno when Jim Cornette gave his tennis racket to Charlie Haas, and then jumped onto the ring apron to create a diversion. Haas entered the ring and hit Stevie Ray in the back of the head with the racket. Then, he grabbed the top rope to crotch Booker on the top turnbuckle. Haas and Benjamin executed their superkick into a bridging German suplex combo, but the referee didn’t come to count it. He was still distracted, but now the Dudley Boyz were out and preparing to put Cornette through a table. Benjamin and Haas left the ring to save their manager. The Dudley Boyz goaded them into chasing them up the entrance ramp, they were at the top of the entrance stage before they realized their mistake and started back for the ring but they didn’t make it in time. The referee had called for the bell and counted them out. Jim Cornette was apoplectic and told his time to take their frustrations out on the Harlem Heat. That decision backfired on them as Booker T gave Haas the Bookend and Stevie Ray executed a 110th Street Slam on Benjamin. With the win, Harlem Heat is headed to Wrestlemania to compete for the WWE Tag Team Championship titles. (13:18) -- Winners: Harlem Heat
Mean Gene interviewed Rowdy Roddy Piper. He asked him about his actions last Friday on Smackdown where he cost Beer Money Inc. their match in the WWE Tag Team Championship tournament. Piper said that was payback for the assault that the Billion Dollar Corporation gave him the week before. Those idiots thought he could be bought but they were wrong. Piper does what he wants when he wants and he isn’t anyone’s servant, lacky or lapdog. Those idiots should’ve known better. Now, Piper can take a beating like a man, but if you want to gang up on him 4-on-1, then you have to be ready for the blowback. He might have a severe numbers deficit, but he guarantee’s Mean Gene that the Hot Rod will pay them back at those same odds before all is said and done. Mean Gene asks him for comments about his upcoming match against Chris Jericho this Friday at Smackdown. Piper said that he might not be the most educated man, but isn’t a dummy. For what he lacks in book smarts, he more than makes up for in street smarts. Maybe he only has a fourth-grade education, but you had better bet on your life that this angry, fired up Scotsman knows everything he needs to give Jericho a fourth-grade concussion.
THE UNDERTAKER vs. LUKE HARPER : Luke Harper gave The Undertaker a superkick and a gutwrench powerbomb. He pinned The Undertaker, but he kicked out. Harper picked him up and put a chokehold on him. The Undertaker elbowed out and slapped his own chokehold on Harper, giving him a chokeslam. The Undertaker scooped up Harper and set him up for the Tombstone, but Harper drive his knee into The Undertaker’s collarbone, shifted the weight and reversed. The Undertaker resisted and reversed it back. He executed the Tombstone and gently laid Harper’s arms across his chest. 1-2-3! As The Undertaker got down to one knee, Erick Rowan attacked him. He picked up The Undertaker, who fought back. Bray Wyatt entered the ring and a two-on-one beatdown was in progress until flames shot out from the four turnbuckle posts. Organ music filled the arena, the lights turned red and suddenly we saw Kane walking to the ring, tightening the glove on his right hand. Wyatt sent Rowan out to meet him, which led to Rowan getting a chokeslam on the floor. Kane climbed the ring apron and entered the ring where the lights went out. 10 seconds later, the flights came back on. The Wyatt Family was gone and The Undertaker and Kane were standing about a foot apart, staring at each other face-to-face. (8:41) -- Winner: The Undertaker
Mean Gene Okerlund was standing by with the Hart Foundation. Bret “The Hitman” Hart told him that the Inner Circle can try to run them out of the WWE, but it won’t work. This is the company for the Hart Family, and they will defend their place in to the bitter end. What’s more, Hart hopes he meets Jericho at Wrestlemania for the WWE Intercontinental Championship so he can embarrass the so-called Le Champion by beating him for the title. And mark The Hitman’s words, he will win it because he is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Brian Pillman took a turn to talk about his match on Friday versus Sammy Guevara. He said that young pretty boy is about to have a huge wake up call. He wants to call himself a god, but he’ll about to find out just how wrong he really is, and Pillman is going to teach him the hard way. Finally, Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith said that the Inner Circle were full of crap and they showed it when they beat Santana & Ortiz in the first round of the WWE Tag Team Championship tournament. On Friday, they’re going to win their match against The Miz & John Morrison to go to the finals at Wrestlemania.
DANIEL BRYAN vs. AJ STYLES : AJ Styles executed a Phenomenal Forearm from the ring to the floor that sent Daniel Bryan over the barricade. Styles attempted to give Bryan a vertical suplex back to ringside, but Bryan slipped free behind him and executed a release German suplex instead. Bryan tossed Styles back into the ring and climbed to the top turnbuckle. He executed a front missile dropkick, sending Styles into the opposite corner of the ring. Bryan gave him a pair of running dropkicks in the corner. He was going for a third one when Styles stepped out of the corner and gave Bryan a hurricanrana. Once back to their feet, Styles gave Bryan the Phenomenal Blitz and then a running high-elevation knee drop. He pinned him for a two count.
Styles stayed on the attack, but when he went for an Irish whip, Bryan countered it and dropped Styles with a leg lariat. Back on their feet, Bryan lit into Styles with chops. He tried to whip Styles into the corner, but he reversed. Styles charged in and Bryan got a boot up on him and then a one-handed bulldog takedown. He gave him the Yes! Kicks, but Styles ducked the last one, tripped up Bryan and quickly applied a Calf Crusher. Bryan was suffering severe pain in the hold, but he managed to get to the ropes to force a break.
Styles trapped Bryan in the corner and gave him shots to the abdomen and kicks to his legs. He lifted Bryan onto the top turnbuckle and went for a frankensteiner. Bryan landed on his feet. He ran to the far turnbuckle and perfectly timed his attack for the running high knee strike. Styles sidestepped it and Bryan’s legs hit the turnbuckles. Styles picked up Bryan to go for the Styles Clash, but he only got one arm hooked around his leg. Bryan used his free hand to wriggle free, trip up Styles and put him in the Yes! Lock. Styles was now in severe pain, but he refused to submit. He got to the ropes to force a break.
They traded chops, punches and kicks in the center of the ring. Styles finished the battle with a Pele kick and then a high-angle delayed belly-to-back suplex. He went out to the ring apron and attempted a springboard 450-splash. Styles landed on Bryan’s knees and ended up trapped in a small package. 1…2… kick out! Styles blocked Bryan’s kick and started in with another Phenomenal Blitz but Bryan ducked the spinning back fist and executed a bridging dragon suplex. 1…2… kick out! Bryan attempted a vertical suplex but Styles landed on his feet and did a rope-assisted roll-up for a 2-count. Upon the kick out, Styles went into the ropes and did a springboard moonsault into a reverse DDT on Bryan. He pinned him. 1…2… kick out!
Styles picked up Bryan, who shook himself free. They exchanged blows. Styles went for an enzuigiri kick, but Bryan ducked it. He tried to apply the Yes! Lock, but Styles slipped free. He went for the Calf Crusher, but Bryan fought him off. Both men got back up. Bryan grabbed Styles in a rear waistlock. Styles elbowed him and reversed the hold. He went for a released German suplex. Bryan flipped through and landed on his feet. He executed the running high knee strike. He made the cover. 1…2…3! Bryan got a huge ovation from the hometown crowd as he secured a spot in the semifinals of the WWE Intercontinental Championship tournament. (19:27) -- Winner: Daniel Bryan
