CCW Mid-America Superstar Saturday on SCA, episode 26
Taped at WMC-TV Station in Memphis, Tennessee
Commentators: Bob Caudle and Dutch Mantel
Ring Announcer: Missy Hyatt
BC: Welcome everyone to the first episode of Superstar Saturday of the new Mid-America brand of Continental Championship Wrestling. At the end of today’s program, Jerry “The King” Lawler will address the crowd and present “Macho Man” Randy Savage with the new Mid-America Title.
DM: I know that must be sticking in Jerry’s craw. Lawler and Savage fought like beasts here in Memphis in the past and there’s no love lost between them. But, from what we know, the deal Lawler has with Andy Kaufman to get half of CCW included him taking Memphis stalwarts like Savage, Austin Idol and Eddie Gilbert. Even though Lawler has a history with all three.
BC: Austin Idol is also scheduled for today’s program, facing “Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan revealed himself as the masked man who aligned with Jake Roberts to go after Idol at Kaufmania.
CM: And Idol’s former valet and love interest, Missy Hyatt, is our new ring announcer. I’ve talked to Idol and he doesn’t want to put Missy in the line of fire anymore, but she still wanted to be involved in the product, hence her new role.
BC: And let’s go to her now for the first of two major superstar debuts here today.

“Superstar” Billy Graham vs. “Iron” Mike Sharpe
Referee: Nick Patrick
Sharpe attacks Graham at the bell with clubbing blows. Graham no sells and comes back with swinging double axe handle shots. Whip to the ropes and an axe bomber clothesline. Leg drop for two. Airplane spin. Graham makes fun of Sharpe’s wobbly leg selling, then gives him a double jab into the chest. Graham stalks Sharpe as he struggles up and locks him in a bear hug.
WINNER: “Superstar” Billy Graham by submission at 5:13
Graham comes over to the commentary position
BG: The real superstar is here on Superstar Saturday and I will be your next Mid-America Champion. If you don’t know the “Superstar” Billy Graham let me tell you a little about me. I’m the man of the hour, the man with the power, too sweet to be sour. I eat T-bone steaks, lift barbell plates and I’m sweeter than chocolate cake. All the men want to be me and all the women want to be with me. And before too long I will be with that brand new, sparkling Mid-America Title belt we’ll be seeing later on today. I don’t care if it’s Randy Savage or Jerry Lawler, the Superstar is coming for you and there’s nothing you can do. That’s a fact, Jack, because I’m serious as a heart attack.

Carmella vs. “The Beautiful Nightmare” Katarina Winter
Referee: Charles Robinson
Footage is shown of the confrontation Winter and Carmella had at the women’s title tournament. Caudle and Mantel talk a little about the show, including Lita being viciously attacked by Taya Valkyrie and taken out of the main event. Lita will be out next to give a health update.
Carmella gets a headlock and gloats like she’s the second coming of Lou Thesz. Winter picks her up out of it and delivers an atomic drop. Carmella sells and turns around into a charging clothesline. Winter with two hair pull snapmares and then works a rear chinlock. Carmella works up and jawbreaker to escape. Carmella with a running neck snap and she lines up the Princess Kick. Katarina sidesteps, grabs the leg and takes her down into a single leg crab. Carmella makes the ropes to break. She fires back with shots to the gut. Single leg dropkick. Running big boot. This time she gets the Princess Kick.
WINNER: Carmella by pinfall in 8:04
BC: Great win by Carmella in the ring, but out here with us now is Lita. Taya Valkyrie gave you a nasty powerbomb off the entrance stage to the concrete at the women’s title tournament show. How are you doing?
Lita: I’m not cleared to wrestle yet, but should be good by next week. I’ve got Taya and the new women’s champion Tessa Blanchard on my radar…
Carmella comes over, seeming disgusted.
Carmella: You should have Carmella on your radar. The Princess of Staten Island is the lady here in CCW. I’m the only woman here 2-0 not counting the one night tournament.
Lita: You won’t be 3-0 if you face me next week.
Carmella: That’s sounds like a challenge. You and me, girlie, next week. You want me to keep turning heads, Bruce Prichard, wherever you are right now. Maybe a win over your precious Lita will finally get me what I want, a women’ title shot.

Rob Van Dam vs. Snake Brown from Out of Town
Referee: Nick Patrick
Brown is a Wildman in bare feet with crazy hair. He yells and throws out kicks. RVD has a look of ‘who the hell is this guy.’ Van Dam with a jumping spin kick to the gut. Rolling monkey flip stands up Brown in the corner. Rob jumps up and gets a hurricarana out of the corner. Brown skids across the canvas, pops up and charges for a spear that turns into a DDT by RVD. Standing moonsault for two. He goes up top and gets the five star frog splash.
WINNER: Rob Van Dam by pinfall at 4:35
Rob goes over to the commentary position.
RVD: Mr. Monday Night is now Mr. Saturday Evening. I’m the most innovative wrestler in the Mash Up Wrestling universe and that by far makes me the most exciting man here in Continental Championship Wrestling and the Mid-America brand. And I will be the next Mid-America Champion. If it’s Billy Graham, Randy Savage, Jerry Lawer, whoever, it doesn’t matter. CCW will be ruled by three letters (does the thumbs point to self) R-V-D.

Taya Valkyrie vs. Cherry Bomb

Taya Valkyrie vs. Cherry Bomb
Referee: Charles Robinson
Tessa Blanchard comes out and sits in on commentary. She talks trash on Lita and says she likes the fire she sees in women like Valkyrie and Carmella. She’d be glad to give Carmella a title shot if she beats Lita, who is as fragile as a stain glass window. If Carmella hits that Princess Kick on Lita, her head will wind up flying off her body and landing in some kid’s lap in the third row.
Bomb wants a handshake to start. Taya looks at her like she’s crazy and then starts laying in the punches. Hard whip to the corner. Cherry pops out of the corner and Valkyrie backdrops her. Taya off the second turnbuckle with an atomic elbow to the top of the head while Cherry sits on the mat. Taya works a head vice. Then she picks Valkyrie straight up out of the head vice and then slams her down out of it. Knee drop. Taya covers, but pulls Bomb up and shakes her head no. Road to Valhalla.
WINNER: Taya Valkyrie in 3:50
After the match, the commentary team is joined by Kerry Von Erich wearing an eye patch. Footage from the last Superstar Saturday is shown of Downtown Bruno burning Kerry in the eye with his cigar during a match between the Midnight Express and Kevin and David Von Erich.
BC: We can all see the eye patch, Kerry. How is the eye since Downtown Bruno burned you?
KVE: I’m probably going to need this patch for a few weeks while my eye heals. But it won’t slow me down. If Downtown Bruno is any sort of man, and that’s really in doubt, I want him out here and in that ring right now. Both eyes, one eye or no eyes, I can see that Downtown Bruno is a sniveling, yellow dog and needs knocked out here in Mid-America before he can get established.
Von Erich then gets into the ring. He claps to get the crowd growing and they start a Downtown Bruno chant. Bruno comes out to the commentary position.
DB: What is this? What is this? I’m a manager. A MANAGER! I’m not a wrestler. Everyone knows this. I have a right to be at ringside with men I manage. Does Kerry Von Erich have a manager’s license (he points at Kerry in the ring)? I doubt it. He was sticking his nose where it didn’t belong and he got smacked back. I did my job by looking out for my guys. If Kerry wants a fight, I’m not going to give it to him, but my new man will.
Kerry is still focused on Bruno and pointing at him from the ring. Sliding into the ring behind Kerry is…
Dude Love!
He nails Von Erich in the back of the head with his boot. Kerry goes down and Love beats on him until David and Kevin run out to drive him off. The camera fades as Bruno and Love point at the Von Erichs and talk garbage on them.

Referee: Nick Patrick
“Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol vs. “Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan with Jake “The Snake” Roberts
Referee: Nick Patrick
Roberts immediately goes over and starts talking at Missy Hyatt at the timekeeper’s station. Idol points and yells at Roberts from the ring. This allows Sullivan to jump Idol from behind with a double axe handle. Sullivan punches and kicks Idol down and then stomps him on the mat. Patrick backs Sullivan off. This allows Roberts to reach under the bottom rope and pound on Idol a couple times. Sullivan picks Idol up and delivers a running shoulder breaker. He covers, but pulls Idol up at two and laughs maniacally. Sullivan hangs Idol up in the Tree of Woe and runs in with a hip attack. He beats on Idol until Patrick backs him off. Roberts reaches into the ring from the floor and chokes Idol out. Sullivan pulls Idol out of the corner and lines up a piledriver, but Idol backdrops out. Austin gets some air on a standing knee drop. Whip to the ropes and a shoulder tackle. Wind up elbow drop. Cover for two. Sullivan reverses a whip into the corner and charges into a big boot. Sullivan stumbles back and Idol comes out with a running clothesline. Stalling suplex. Idol gets on the second turnbuckle. Sullivan grabs Patrick as he’s trying to get up. This allows Roberts to yank Idol’s foot and he crotches himself. Sullivan delivers a Shattered Dreams crotch kick. Second rope suplex. One…two…thr…shoulder up. Sullivan goes for a running power slam, Idol slides out of the back and pushes Sullivan into the ropes. He comes back into a scoop slam. Gut wrench gutbuster. Leg trap face first mat slam. Idol lines up the piledriver. Roberts runs in and attacks Idol from behind before he can snap it off.
WINNER: Austin Idol by disqualification at 15:20
Roberts and Sullivan beat on Idol. Missy Hyatt slides into the ring and throws herself on top of Idol to block the blows. Roberts smiles evilly and teases a big punch on her. The crowd pops as Eddie Gilbert comes into the ring with a steel chair. He takes a couple swings and it clears out the Princes of Darkness. They hit the floor and they back up the aisleway. Jake points at Gilbert with an oily smile in a ‘just you wait’ way.
Gilbert turns and faces Hyatt laying over Gilbert. She looks up at Gilbert, her ex-husband, and begs for him not to hurt them. He gets a microphone.
EG: I said before, I wasn’t the one who broke up your wedding and that wasn’t something I would ever do. We’re divorced, Missy, but I want nothing, but the best for you. I’ve had my battles with Austin in the past, but I have respect for him as a wrestler. I bear neither of you ill will. And more than that, I offer you both friendship now.
Gilbert extends his hand. Idol has now come around and is sitting on the mat with Missy clutching him from behind. Idol extends his hand up, Gilbert takes it and pulls him to his feet. They then go into a bro-hug and Gilbert lifts Idol’s hand in victory. Missy is in tears seeing her ex-husband and new lover united.

A montage of clips is shown reviewing Jerry Lawler as special guest referee helping Andy Kaufman at Kaufmania to beat ODB and take over all of CCW. Followed by the reveal that Lawler cheated in order to bring wrestling back to Memphis.
Back live, Jerry Lawler’s regal music plays and he emerges onto the entrance stage. He’s carrying the new Mid-America Title belt, replacing the old Southeastern Title. Lawler has a serene, peaceful look on his face. However, this changes to shock and confusion as Lawler hears the fans booing him, not cheering. He gets into the ring and raises the microphone. He starts to speak and the jeering gets louder. He looks hurt and stunned. He finally speaks.
JL: What I did, I did for you people. I sold my soul to the devil to bring wrestling back here to Memphis. I understand being booed and hated in New Orleans where Kaufmania was. I understand being booed and hated by the Alabama fans at the Andy Kaufman Studios. But I expected everyone here to cheer me as the conquering hero I am. You wouldn’t be here in this studio today if it wasn’t for me.
The jeering changes to cheering and Lawler thinks maybe he got through to the people, but then he realizes they’re cheering for Randy Savage walking out. He gets into the ring and has a microphone himself.
RS: Jerry Lawler, when last we stood here in Music City many moons ago, the people were cheering you and booing me. Now they love me and they hate you. Oh yeah! They also cheered you and booed Austin Idol. They cheered you and they booed Eddie Gilbert. But all the people here were cheering Gilbert and Idol here earlier today. It’s like we’ve got a little Memphis Mafia going and you’re not in it. Oh yeah! When you make a deal with the devil, uh-huh, you live with the consequences. You expected to be greeted with love, but the king of Memphis, Tennessee, is now a pauper to his people. Oh yeah!
And with that, Lawler juts forward with the new title belt and nails Savage with it. He goes down like a sack of bricks and the crowd boos even louder. Lawler yells “no, stop it. I did this for you. I did this all for you.” He yells in vain as the scene fades.
