Wednesday Warfare, Episode 9
The camera pans the Andy Kaufman Studios in Dothan, Alabama, highlighting all the cheering fans. It zooms in on the commentary position featuring Bob Caudle and “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert.
BC: Welcome to another edition of Wednesday Warfare. On tonight’s show we’ll be seeing in action Ole Anderson, Dash Wilder, Austin Idol and Tommy Rich teaming up and Kurt Angle making another Gulf Coast Title challenge, if someone is brave enough to take it. Last week, Big Show beat up Eli Drake and said he would destroy anyone who got a title shot before him. Additionally, Drake will get a chance at revenge against Show tonight. Any comments, Eddie.
Gilbert has his feet up on the desk and his hands behind his head, looking very relaxed.
EG: Not really. I’m still basking in the glow of winning in the main event of Superstar Saturday this past week. As always you can’t top the greatness of Eddie Gilbert. I and the Honk Tonk Man got a big win over two Memphis legends in Jerry Lawler and Randy Savage.
BC: With a little help from the Southeastern Champion Brian Cage, who we found out will face Savage at Kaufmania.
EG: I wouldn’t know anything about that…Hey, let’s go to the ring.
BC: I say that!

“Beautiful” Bobby Eaton vs. Rick Steiner
Referee: Aubrey Edwards
Both men are without their tag partners or valets. Grappling to start with Steiner using his raw power to take advantage. A bulldog gets a near fall. Rick misses an elbow drop after a Steinerline. Eaton comes back. He hits a body slam and goes up top for the Alabama Jam, but misses. A belly to belly suplex by Rick gets two. Eaton backdrops out of a butterfly suplex try. Single arm DDT and Bobby goes back up again. Alabama Jam hits. He hooks the tights for good measure on the pin.
WINNER: Bobby Eaton by pinfall at 11:17
Kurt Angle is out at the commentary position. Footage from the end of last week’s episode is shown where Eli Drake was attacked by Big Show, who wanted a Gulf Coast title shot.
KA: Despite what Big Show said, the blood is squarely on his hands, not mine. My goal as Gulf Coast Champion was to give every wrestler here in CCW a chance at this belt who deserved it. Big Show doesn’t get a title shot, because he wants it. For the match tonight, I went to a man who is a veteran without equal in this business. I went to a man who I knew would not be intimidated by the Big Show. I went to a man, who more than anyone else here in Continental, would spit in Show’s eye if he stepped to him. And that man, the man I’ll face in the main event tonight, is Dick Murdoch!

A fired up Drake charges Big Show with punches to start. Show shoves him off. Drake charges anew. Show shoves him down hard. Drake rolls to his feet and nails a jumping forearm that staggers Show a little. He comes off the ropes with a second forearm that staggers him a bit more. He tries a third, but he runs right into a big boot. Show drops a massive leg. He throws Drake into the corner, silences the crowd and does the big open hand slap to the chest. He brings Drake out of the corner with a double choke lift and turns that into a big double choke slam.
WINNER: Big Show by pinfall at 4:20
Big Show yanks the microphone out of Brandi Rhodes’ hand as she comes into the ring to announce him as the match winner.
KA: I didn’t think it was possible, but you’re dumber than you look, Angle. I am not a man to be taken lightly. I want to be a heavy hitter around here and I will be a heavy hitter. If I wasn’t clear last week, and it’s obvious I wasn’t, until I get a Gulf Coast Title match, which I deserve, I will eliminate anyone you pick for a title shot. And that’s you putting people in harm’s way, not me. That’s you signing death warrants, not me. You say Dick Murdoch will face you tonight. We’ll see about that.
Show spikes down the microphone.

Ole Anderson with “Sycho” Sid Vicious vs. Dash Wilder with Scott Dawson
Referee: Aubrey Edwards
They trade off on various holds to start. Wilders works an arm wringer and then whips Anderson out of it into the ropes. But, he falls as he does and Edwards checks on him. This allows Dawson to jump up and nail Ole in the lower back with a forearm as he hits the ropes. He goes down. Sid races around and chases Dawson to the back. Wilder works on Anderson some more. Spinebuster leads to a jackknife cover for two. He whiffs on a dropkick and Anderson makes the comeback. Brainbuster and he goes to the stump puller. It looks like curtains, but Dawson run backs through with Sid on this tail. They go through the ring and Ole lets go of the hold. With Edwards distracted, Wilder scores a low blow and follows with a double knee facebreaker. Foot on the ropes for the pin.
WINNER: Dash Wilder by pinfall at 9:19
After the match, Sid returns with a running big boot to Wilder. He rolls to the floor and Dawson grabs him. They back up the aisle and Sid gets a microphone from Brandi as Anderson recovers.
SV: Curt Hennig, you lost the Wild Card Title to me at Glorious Grapple when Sting made Ric Flair throw his towel into the ring to give up for you. I don’t want to beat you on a technicality. I don’t want someone else giving up on your behalf. I want you to give up to me. As Wild Card Champion I get to call the stipulation for all title defenses. So, if you want this title back you’ll have to face me at Kaufmania in an I Quit match. I want to hear those two words come out of your mouth. And when they do you’ll know why being the master and ruler of the world is better than perfect.

“Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol and “Wildfire” Tommy Rich with Missy Hyatt vs. MJF and “Iceman” Dean Malenko

Friedman says he’ll start out to show Malenko how it’s done. He turns to take a running clothesline from Idol. Austin has MJF by the head and drives a series of knees into his face. He throws Friedman across the ring and charges with a rising knee lift. He throws several shoulder thrusts into the gut. Rich makes the blind tag and tells Idol he needs to settle down. He looks ready to take out Rich, but Hyatt begs him to let Tommy take over. Friedman with an eye poke and he whips Rich to his corner. Tag to Malenko. Dean gets an abdominal stretch. Rich hip tosses out, but misses a knee drop. He stomps Rich and tries for the Texas Cloverleaf, but Rich kicks out. Dean blocks a suplex and reverses. Scoop slam off the ropes for two. He tags MJF and holds Rich. MJF comes in with a second rope bionic elbow, but Rich gets loose. He nails Dean. A surprised Friedman eats a short arm clothesline. Full nelson suplex with bridge for the pin.
WINNER: Idol and Rich by pinfall of Rich on MJF in 7:43
The face team goes over to the commentary position. Idol looks a little better than he has recently, but he’s still wild-eyed and a little loopy.
AI: Jake Roberts, you can play all the mind games you want on me. They’re not going to work. You can’t break me more than you already have. That’s what you wanted, you got it. But as you might say, be careful what you ask for. At Kaufmania, we’ll take you and your masked accomplice out. And you might even appreciate the malice and violence I do it with.
Idol storms away with Hyatt tailing after. Rich is still out there.
TR: You know, Bob, Missy and me go way back. I met her before she even got into the business. I’ve known Idol almost as long. It tears me up inside to see them like this. On one hand, maybe I shouldn’t have made this business with Jake and his mystery partner my concern. But, I have. Idol asked me to stand with him as his best man at the wedding that didn’t happen. I was right there next to him when everything went down. I stood with him then and I stand with him now. At Kaufmania, the mysteries end.
