CCW Superstar Saturday on SCA, episode 23
The camera pans the Andy Kaufman Studios in Dothan, Alabama, and then comes upon the commentary team of Gorilla Monsoon and the Honky Tonk Man.
GM: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, Gorilla Monsoon here with the Honky Tonk Man. We’re one week removed from Glorious Grapple, but already know several big matches planned for Kaufmania (Monsoon scoffs). That includes a loser leaves CCW match between Sting and Ric Flair and ODB vs. Andy Kaufman, which we’ll hear more about today. If ODB wins, then Ron Fuller will be in full control of Continental Championship Wrestling once more.
HTM: But, if Kaufman wins, then Fuller hits the bricks and Kaufman owns it all. Which I’m rooting for, because then I know we’ll be rid of that no good, stinking cousin of mine, Jerry Lawler.
GM: Lawler dealt with you and Eddie Gilbert pretty good at the Superstar Saturday Special Edition. He not only got a win over you, but smashed Gilbert with a guitar.
HTM: That was a lucky break, Gorilla. You put me in the ring with Lawler again…
As he says this, the King comes out to a crowd pop.
JL: You’ll do what? Plan to finish that thought while looking me in the eye.
HTM stands up and throws down his headset. He points at the ring, but while distracted, Gilbert runs out and clocks him with a guitar. Lawler goes to the ground. The heels stand over him.
HTM: If you can make it to your feet, Lawler, how about you face me and Gilbert in a tag team match today if you can find a partner. I severely doubt it.

Marty Jannetty vs. Bobby Fulton
Referee: Aubrey Edwards
New heel Jannetty has his hair slicked back and is wearing all black tights. He offers Fulton a handshake to start. He takes it, but is yanked into a short arm clothesline. Jannety works Fulton over with a series of arm drags and leg whips. A long crisscross sequence ends with Fulton going for a sunset flip. Marty blocks and drops a fist, but Fulton moves and he smacks the mat. Bobby with a rollup from behind for two. Up into a standing dropkick. Fulton on the offensive now for a bit. He goes up top, but misses a top rope leg drop. While seated, Jannetty gets a rolling neck snap. Rocker Dropper
WINNER: Marty Jannetty by pinfall at 7:34
Footage is shown from the Superstar Saturday Special Edition where Jannetty turned on Shawn Michaels and the Midnight Rockers broke up.
GM: An impressive win here just now, Marty, but what do you have to say for yourself after betraying your friend and tag team partner, Shawn Michaels.
MJ: That’s Mr. Jannetty to you and all these foul mouthed, smelly hillbillies here in Dothan, Alabama. I already explained myself last week, but everyone is apparently too stupid to get it. I’m not the bad guy here. When someone who has been bullied stands up to that bully they are applauded. When someone sees an atrocity and says ‘no, this will not stand,’ that person is considered a hero. When the underdog claims victory at the end of the movie, you cheer, you don’t boo him. Shawn Michaels has been holding me down since day one. He always said he was the star, not me. He always said he was the reason we won matches and titles, not me. He said he was the reason CCW signed us, not me. I’m sick and tired of it never being me. At Kaufmania March 14 at the Super Dome, Michaels will be laying flat on his back looking up and all he will see, will be me.

The debut of ODB at Glorious Grapple is shown and then we cut live to Andy Kaufman at the commentary position.
GM: You said you can beat any woman there is, well Ron Fuller found a hell of a one for you to prove that against in ODB.
AK: Just today, someone told me what ODB stood for and I was disgusted, Monsoon. She might be a woman, but she’s no lady. You showed her sickening debut, now show my triumphant win on Wednesday Warfare over Stacy Keibler.
The short match is show in full. We then cutback live to Kaufman gloating to a booing crowd. Those jeers quickly turn to cheers when ODB comes rushing out. Kaufman goes wild eyed and scared. He backs away and points.
AK: You stay away from me. You can’t touch me outside the ring. That’s assault and I’ll sue you. And I’ll sue Ron Fuller for bringing you here.
ODB: I don’t want to jeopardize getting my hands on you at Kaufmania (she spits after saying the name, then takes a swig from her flask). I can wait. I can be patient. When Ron Fuller came and made his offer to me, I didn’t take it for him. I took it to get my hands on Andy Kaufman in the ring (she points at the ring). For years, he’s talked about how he’s better than any woman and no woman could ever beat him or any man in a wrestling match. I’ve got real news for you, I’ve been beating turds like you for my whole life. Look at that ring now and you’ll get an idea of what I’ll do to you at the Super Dome on March 14.

ODB vs. The Conquistadors (played by Brian Kendrick and Paul London)
Referee: Joey Marella
The golden masked men in full body suits charge at ODB and right into a double clothesline. She whips one into the corner and he slumps down. She whips the other into him and he slumps down. ODB rushes in with a Bronco Muncher. She pulls the front Conquistador up and gives him a fallaway slam. She kips up, delivers a fallaway slam to the other one and kips up again. Bam fireman’s carry cutter to the one. Bam fireman’s carry cutter to the other. She stacks them up and stands on the pile with one foot.
WINNER: ODB by pinfall at 3:33
Kaufman is at ringside with a microphone.
AK: I’m supposed to be impressed by that. You destroying two handpicked nobodies under a mask. How about this, you wrestle a man I handpick next week. If you win, then I’ll let you pick anyone you want to be the special guest referee for our match at Kaufmania. If my man wins, then I get to pick the referee.
ODB shakes her head in the affirmative and yells, “you’re on.”
GM: That was an impressive sight and we have another one out here with us now, the former CCW Southeastern Heavyweight Champions, the Steiner Brothers. They lost those belt at Glorious Grapple to the Midnight Express. Let’s show you the end of that match.
The finish is shown with Bobby Eaton pinning Dynamite Kid while everyone else is out on the floor.
SS: I want to make one thing clear, Gorilla. We didn’t lose anything at Glorious Grapple. Neither me or my brother, Rick, were ever pinned (Rick shakes his head in agreement). We don’t have those title belts anymore, but we never lost them. The Midnight Express and other teams called us out leading into the Glorious Grapple. Well, now we’re on the other side and we’re doing the calling out. If the Midnight Express ever want to be considered legitimate champions, they will face us one-on-one at Kaufmania March 16 at the Super Dome. You wined and cried like babies when you didn’t have the titles. Let’s see if you can act like men now that you do have them.

The ending of the Glorious Grapple main event is shown as Christopher Daniels attacks CM Punk and Edge with Punk getting the pinfall. We then go live to Nick Aldis, with Kamille, at the commentary position.
GM: Nick Aldis, the third man in the match we just saw a clip of, is here with us now. I understand you’re not happy with the outcome.
NA: You better believe I’m not, Gorilla. First I was screwed out of a spot in the Terrific Tussle when I was attacked by Austin Idol because he thought I disturbed his wedding. Then that match is won by CM Punk, who wasn’t even under contract to CCW. Now, I never asked for anything to be handed to me, I just wanted a chance to rightfully win that title shot. I’m placed in a triple threat match for it and what happens? Another outside, unprovoked attack which I had no control over takes away what I deserve. CM Punk never pinned me. He never came close. If he’s half the man he claims to be, he’ll give me what I deserve and that’s a one-on-one match with him next week with the MUW Men’s Title shot on the line.

Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) with Ole Anderson vs. Badd Company (Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond)
Referee: Tommy Young
Blanchard starts with Tanaka and controls early on. Tag to Arn who continues to work Tanaka over. Tanaka twists out of a hammerlock and gets a thrust kick. Vertical suplex on AA and he tags Diamond. Fast tags allows them to keep Anderson at bay. Anderson ducks a running clothesline by Diamond and catches him coming back the other way with the spinebuster. Tanaka charges in and eats the DDT. Tag to Blanchard. Slingshot suplex. Gutbuster. Tag back to Arn for the spiked piledriver.
WINNER: Brain Busters at 10:03 by pinfall of Anderson on Diamond
Ole and the Brain Busters go over to the commentary position. The Busters proudly carry the Gulf Coast Tag Team Title belts in front of them. As they cross, we get the finish of them beating the Revival and claiming the belts at Glorious Grapple.
OA: I’m going to do something right now that just isn’t done. Usually it’s the challenger making the challenge, it’s why they’re called the challengers. AA and Tully here beat the Revival at Glorious Grapple, but we don’t just want them beat, we want them dead and buried. They like to brag about being old school. We invented old school. We’re true old school. So, we’re going to give the Revival one chance and once chance only to get their belts back and it doesn’t get any more old school in a tag titles match than best two out of three falls. At Kaufmania, March 14 at the Super Dome, it’s time for the Revival to end.

We come back from the break with CM Punk rubbing his hands at the commentary post.
GM: CM Punk, you’ve got the MUW Men’s Title shot at Kaufmania on March 14 in the Super Dome. But Nick Aldis made you an offer earlier tonight to put that shot on the line against him next week.
CMP: To paraphrase “The Godfather,” that’s an offer I can refuse. If he thinks I’ll put my title shot up that I fought twice to secure, he’s insane. But, if he wants a match next week, that I will give him. And I’ll give him a chance to impress the one person that matters if he wants to get an MUW Men’s Title shot down the road.
GM: You?
CMP: Nah, Samoa Joe. I’m inviting Samoa Joe to come to Superstar Saturday next week and to sit on commentary, if that’s okay with you Gorilla and Honky. I want him to be here in person to watch me dismantle Nick Aldis. I want Joe to stare down the fate he’s got coming to him at Kaufmania on March 14 in the Super Dome. The red carpet is being rolled out for you, Joe, let’s see next week if you walk it.

British Bruisers (Dynamite Kid and Johnny Smith) vs. “Stunning” Steve Austin and Chris Candido with Tammy Lynn Sytch
Referee: Aubrey Edwards
Kid and Candido start off with some grappling that leads to very fast reversals. A long criss cross sequence ends with Kid getting a twisting slingshot crossbody for two. Tag to Smith. He has the upper hand to start, but Austin drives his knee into Johnny’s back as he goes into the ropes. Tag to Austin. He works Smith over while jawing at kid. Snap suplex. Scoop slam off the ropes. Stun Gun. He misses the second rope elbow drop, but Candido cuts off the hot tag. Double back suplex. Tag to Chris. Package piledriver. Smith with his foot on the ropes. Candido measures him and nails a standing dropkick. He goes up for a diving headbutt and misses. Hot tag. Kid is a house of fire. Scoop Samoan drop off the ropes. Snap suplex. He goes up top for the diving headbutt. Tammy distracts Edwards. Austin shakes the ropes and Kid crotches himself. Candido tags Steve who comes in by bulldogging Kid off the top. Smith breaks up the pin. Candido knocks him to the floor. Kick, wham, stunner.
WINNER: Austin and Candido by pinfall of Austin on Kid at 11:49
Austin, Tammy and Candido go over to the commentary position.
SA: I smell like smoke because I have been through fire. I survived that maniac Randy Savage at Glorious Grapple. He whipped me with a dog chain, he hung me over the ropes with a dog chain, he busted me open with a dog chain. Maybe he got the win, but I’m still standing and that’s my victory, Savage. The Stunners are the premier stable here in CCW. The Midnight Express are the Southeastern Tag Team Champions. That’s gold number one. Gold number two will be when I have that Southeastern Heavyweight Title around my waist and, then, the MUW Men’s Title. That’s not bragging when you’re telling the truth. I can walk the walk and talk the talk, because I’ve always been stunning and always will be.

Sting attacking Ric Flair at Glorious Grapple is shown, followed by the Flair made to Sting later in the night for a Loser Leaves CCW match at Kaufmania.
GM: “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, you made a challenge to Sting to write the final chapter in your story together. Have you heard a response?
RF: Woo! Gorilla, I haven’t heard from Sting and that doesn’t surprise me. Nobody has seen him since he came down from the ceiling at Glorious Grapple. Black clothes, white face paint, black baseball bat. Thinking you’re Batman striking fear into the hearts of the cowardly and timid. Those are two words that can’t be applied to the Nature Boy. Woo! I’ve never backed down from a challenge Sting, because to be the man, you have to beat the man and I prove I’m the man every waking moment of my life. And where are you? Hanging out in the rafters with the spiders and the dust bunnies. You know that if you face me at Kaufmania on March 14 in the Super Dome, it will be your last match ever in Continental Championship Wrestling.
At that moment, out of the shadows at the corner of the studio, emerges Sting. He’s dressed the same as he was at Glorious Grapple and holding a black baseball bat. The fans pop as he approaches Flair and points the baseball at him. Flair starts inching behind Monsoon. Flair lowers the bat, nods his head ‘yes’ to Flair and then leaves.
GM: I think that’s the answer you wanted, Flair. It appears that Sting is accepting your challenge for Kaufmania.
RF: One last time, Sting. It’s going to be you and me. And right now, thinking about it, I’m having a hard time keeping these Gators down. Woo!

The Masked Accomplice with Jake Roberts vs. “Man with the Hands of Stone” Ronnie Garvin
Referee: Joey Marella
Brawling to start with Garvin getting the better of it. He leans into the ropes and Roberts from the floor pulls the top strand down. Garvin tumbles to the floor. Marella yells at Jake, who feigns innocence. The Masked Accomplice goes to the floor and whips Ronnie shoulder first into the outside ring post. He rolls Garvin back into the ring. Jumping knee drop. Hard whip to the corner. The masked man then turns Garvin upside down and hangs him in the tree of woe. The masked man works him over with punches and kicks until Marella can pull him off. Roberts reaches in and chokes Garvin from the floor. Garvin finally falls out to the mat. The Accomplice pulls Garvin to the center of the ring and locks in a Camel Clutch. Garvin powers out and back into the near corner, slamming the masked man for the break. Garvin leans into the ropes and Roberts pulls his foot from the floor. Garvin goes out to confront Jake. He backs up and puts up his hands, as if to say ‘he doesn’t want any.’ The Masked Accomplice comes off the apron with a double axe handle. He rams Garvin back first into the ring wall. He throws Garvin back into the ring. Double stomp to the gut. Tombstone piledriver.
WINNER: The Masked Accomplice by pinfall in 8:11
Jake Roberts and the Masked Accomplice go to the commentary position.
JR: Austin Idol, Tommy Rich, Missy Hyatt. That’s three blind mice if I’ve ever seen them. Just running around wildly, not knowing what to do. Well, snakes eat mice. Austin Idol, you were looking for revenge and satisfaction at Glorious Grapple. You didn’t get it. But, never say I’m not a fair man. Because, I gave you a little taste of what you wanted. Did I have an accomplice that helped me destroy your wedding at the Terrific Tussle? That question twisted in your gut like a knife. Now, you know I did. But, who is he? And here’s a question you were probably too dumb to think of, is this man next to me the one who helped? Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. Maybe you’ll unmask him at Kaufmania on March 14 in the Super Dome. And, maybe, just maybe, if you do, it won’t matter. They only thing that matters Austin Idol is that you are a shell of your former self. Your love has been replaced with hate. And I feed on hate like others are nurtured on love Now, you’ve drug poor Tommy Rich into this. I feel bad for him. They say keep your friends close, but your enemies closer and all your enemies will be as close they can get at Kaufmania, Idol. How do I know, Idol? (slight evil laugh) Trust me.

Randy Savage is out at the commentary position.
RS: Oh yeah! The Macho Man is in the house. At Glorious Grapple we saw who the real mangy dog of CCW was, it wasn’t me. Oh no, it was Steve Austin, dig it. And, now, I’ve got much bigger fish to fry in Brian Cage. He ain’t no machine, he’s just a man, just a simple man. He’s no Macho Man! Oh yeah! Dig it! I gave up my spot in the main event of Glorious Grapple for being in the final four of the Terrific Tussle to get future title match considerations. The future is now! Oh yeah! I’m cashing in my golden ticket at Kaufmania on March 14 at the Super Dome. I’m coming for Brian Cage and the CCW Southeastern Heavyweight Title. The cream always rises to the top and after Kaufmania, Cage will be yesterday’s news. Oh yeah!
Savage then points to the ring and the camera cuts to show a lone Jerry Lawler waiting to take on Eddie Gilbert and Honky Tonk Man.
RS: If you all out there know anything about me, it’s that I bleed Memphis just like Jerry Lawler does. Now, I don’t like Lawler, he’s a real son of a bitch. But if there are two people on this planet I hate more than Jerry Lawler, it’s Eddie Gilbert and the Honky Tonk Man. I feel so good, since I’m going to be the next Southeastern Champion, I’m going to do something I normally wouldn’t do. Call it a late Valentine’s Day present, but I’m feeling nothing but love right now. Jerry Lawler, you need a tag team partner, you’ve got one!
vs.
“Macho Man” Randy Savage and Jerry “The King” Lawler” vs. Honky Tonk Man and “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert
Referee: Tommy Young
Lawler seems unsure of having Savage in the corner. Monsoon, who is being joined on commentary by Dutch Mantel, reviews the connections to Memphis wrestling all four men have. Lawler starts out with Gilbert. In a lock up, Eddie sneaks in a jab to the throat Young can’t see. Tag to HTM. Gilbert holds Lawler for Honky to come off the second turnbuckle with an elbow to the head. Whip to the ropes and Lawler is flipped over by a knee lift. HTM taunts the crowd. He puts Jerry’s head between his knees, but Lawler backdrops out. HTM grabs the foot to prevent the tag. He drags Lawler to his corner and tags Gilbert. Eddie grabs the foot and jams the knee into the mat. He goes to a single leg crab. Lawler makes the ropes for the break. Gilbert sets up for the Hot Shot, but Lawler dodges and comes back the other way for a Thesz press and punches. HTM comes in and kicks Lawler in the back. Young moves him to the apron, but this allows Gilbert to rake the eyes. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and he jaws at Savage. Whip to the ropes and a sunset flip try, but Lawler blocks and drops a fist to Eddie’s face. Both men down. The camera suddenly cuts to show Brian Cage running out and attacking Savage as he stands on the apron. Cage gets under Savage while grabbing his waist. He takes him off the apron with a powerbomb. Lawler reaches out for a tag not there. This allows Gilbert to recover and tag HTM. Honky comes in and chop blocks Lawler in the knee. Fist drop. Knee drop. Shake, Rattle and Roll.
WINNER: HTM and Gilbert by pinfall of HTM on Lawler at 15:25
Gilbert and Honky raise each other’s arms in the victory in the ring. Lawler lies on the mat. The camera then cuts to Savage out cold on the floor. Cage gets in the camera, real up close. He screams, “you’re not coming for me, Savage, I’m coming for you!”
