Live from the Tokyo Dome
Mariko "The Spider" Yoshida vs. Yoshiko Tamura
These two ladies have had a feud spanning around three years, and this was the final blow off that set the tone for this entire show. Yoshida and Tamura had been using each other's signature moves in the build up to this, trying to show that each woman can do anything the other can do, and maybe better; that was a major thread in this match. Both men were desperate to finally prove their superiority, and laid everything on the line, with immensely stiff shots back and forth, each woman refusing to back down. For every hard punch or kick Yoshida would land on Tamura, Tamura would blast Yoshida with her elbows and knees. Tamura would attempt to tap out Yoshida with her own move, the Spider Twist, at about the twelve minute mark on this contest, but Yoshida would manage to get to the ropes to break it. Yoshida would land a flurry of blows, finalized by a Spinning Backfist and then a massive Judo takedown for a two count. Yoshida would attempt to deliver the Air Raid Crash, a move she innovated, but the pace and exhaustion had caught up with her, allowing Tamura to slide out and deliver an elbow to the back of her head, followed by a Double Wrist Clutch Backdrop Driver, bridging the hold and getting the three count for the victory!
Winner by Pinfall: Yoshiko Tamura
Nariko Hashi, Jackie Sato, and Dump Matsumoto of the ILPW announce team were all gushing over this contest and the emotion of it. Tamura would take the microphone and say that Yoshida has been a worthy adversary, but she is ready for the next chapter of her career, and she wants championship gold!
Matsumoto says that she would be a great improvement over the glorified doll Manami Toyota, while Sato defends Toyota as a great champion who she looks forward to seeing defend her championship tonight against the treacherous Akira Hokuto!
Burning: Jun Akiyama & Kenta Kobashi vs. Dark Army: Kensuke Sasaki & Masahiro Chono
This was a pretty short and wild match, as the Dark Army seemingly wanted to hurt their opponents here and make examples of them. Unfortunately for them, Burning are far from being slouches, and were more than up to having a hard hitting brawl. Chono would use a chain at one point that he pulled from his overcoat at ringside to pummel Akiyama and bloody him. Akiyama would later deliver an Exploder Suplex off the apron to Chono to extract some revenge as Kobashi would deliver a massive Burning Lariat to Sasaki on the inside to get the pinfall victory for his team.
Winners by Pinfall: Jun Akiyama & Kenta Kobashi
Shinji Yoshino and Genichiro Tenryu, the announce team for IPW, send us backstage, where we see Los Ingobernales de Japon standing in. Tetsuya Naito, the challenger for the International title later this evening, is surrounded by his group consisting of Shingo, Sanada and Hiromu Takahashi. Naito says that Misawa is not the man of the people he thinks he is. He says that Misawa thinks he is a hero, but he doesn't realize that he is not. Naito is the hero. The people want the idol who cannot be controlled to show them the way. He says it is time for this to be recognized, and for everybody to follow the greatest example in life that is Naito and Los Ingobernales.
Tenryu on the commentary team doesn't seem very impressed with the attitude of Naito, saying that he feels the way Misawa carries himself is with honor and dignity. Yoshino says maybe that is the old way of thinking that Naito is trying to eliminate, and that he just isn't for Tenryu. Tenryu agrees whole heartedly with that, as they share a chuckle.
INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE
LCO: Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda vs. Meiko Satomura & Sonoko Kato (c)
Mita and Shimoda have been on a tear, and came into this match with a lot of confidence. Satomura and Kato have won over the fans with their performances, but tonight LCO and their violent, brawling, chair swinging style proved to be too much for the champions. LCO's partner in Akira Hokuto is also challenging for a title later in the night, and if this match is any indication, it is going to be a great one for the LCO faction. Mita and Satomura both favor the Death Valley Driver, but it was Mita who invented the maneuver and used it to devastating perfection here to get the pinfall and win the chamionships for her team!
Winners by Pinfall, and NEW International Tag Team Champions: Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda
Dump is going crazy at the announcer's table, trying to tell the booing crowd to shut their mouths, which upsets Jackie Sato. Sato tells Dump to settle herself, but Dump tells her to shut it because we have real champions now in the tag team division! Sato says their attitude is a disgrace and these fans are letting them know it!
Mima Shimoda grabs the microphone and says these sad bitches couldn't handle their violence, and now LCO has the gold! She says tonight that little fraud Toyota is going to get the same treatment as the great "Dangerous Queen" breaks her for everybody to see and brings LCO all of the gold in ILPW! The fans continue to boo LCO out of the building as they leave with the title belts.
INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLES
Chaos: Kazuchika Okada & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Holy Demon Army: Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada
Taue and Kawada start off hot, taking the fight across the ring to the arrogant Okada and Nakamura and taking them out of the ring. Taue delivers a chokeslam to Nakamura over the rail and onto the floor into the crowd, getting a big pop, as Kawada and Okada battle and get back into the ring. Kawada and Taue work over Okada until Nakamura manages to get back up on the apron. Okada manages to grab Taue into the Money Clip Cobra Clutch, but Taue gets to the corner and tags out to Kawada, who comes off the top with a knee smash. Kawada delivers a Folding Powerbomb, but Nakamura makes the save. Okada is looking rough, but is able to deliver a beautiful Dropkick as a reversal to buy him enough time to hot tag Nakamura! Nakamura delivers a running knee to Kawada, followed by running over and elbow smashing Taue off the apron, before rushing Kawada and taking him down with a Flying Flipping Cross Armbar! Kawada looks like he is in trouble, but he manages to steady himself and roll to counter his way out of it. Kawada and Nakamura trade some major kicks and strikes before Kawada manages to deliver a Back Drop Driver, but only for a two count. Kawada tags out to Taue who is back up and then rushes over to Okada, but Okada is ready and catches Kawada coming in, and the two trade blows until they spill to the outside. Taue grabs Nakamura by the throat and is looking for another Chokeslam on "The King of Strong Style", but Nakamura leaps as he is being lifted and catches Taue with a High Knee to the jaw mid-move! Nakamura grabs the staggered Taue, and in a massive move, delivers his Landslide Driver, smashing Taue into the mat and the fans are going crazy as Nakamura gets the three before Kawada can make the save! Chaos wins the belts!
Winners by Pinfall, and NEW International Tag Team Champions: Kazuchika Okada & Shinsuke Nakamura
Yoshino is still selling how big that finish was, and says that CHAOS IS REIGNING IN IPW! Tenryu says that the match was fantastic and we were clearly watching two world class teams, but the wild style of Chaos proved to beat out the hard style of the Holy Demon Army and these fans are loving it!
Nakamura grabs the microphone and yells GIVE US THE BELTS, BABY! Okada grabs the mic and says THE KING and THE GOD are unstoppable, and clearly Chaos is the best to ever live! They are posing and soaking it in as they take photos with their newly won championships, the first tag team champions in IPW, and the fans just love their charisma.
Tenryu says he is not sure they are the best to ever live, but they sure looked good tonight. He sends back to the ladies for the next match.
Combat Toyoda vs. Megumi Kudo
Two former best friends do battle here after Toyoda double crossed Kudo months ago and everything has led to this violent encounter. There was an intense stare down before hand, with each woman exchanging harsh words towards the others. Kudo looks very emotional, but Combat doesn't care about her former friend anymore and slaps her right across the face. She goads Kudo to bring it, and that she does, as Kudo fires back with a flurry of forearm shivers, followed by a Dropkick to send Toyoda to the outside! Kudo then flies right out of the ring in convincing fashion, not so much a dive as a tackle into a flurry of fists! Toyoda grabs Kudo by the eyes and is trying to rip them out before slamming her into the turnpost.
These two fight throughout the crowd and hit each other with anything not nailed down before heading back into the ring. Toyoda grabs the referee and removes her belt before wrapping it around Kudo's neck and trying to strangle her! Toyoda busts her open with repeated shots to the forehead before yanking her by her neck with the belt into a Lariat! Toyoda goes for the cover, but Kudo powers out with a fierce scream, bridging her back to break the hold. Toyoda continues to pile it out with knee drops and fists before attempting a Powerbomb, but Kudo manages to reverse it and deliver a German Suplex! Kudo pulls herself together, removing the belt from her neck, and then proceeds to stomp Toyoda in the chest and head repeatedly before lifting Toyoda up and delivering a Brainbuster! Kudo goes for the cover, but Toyoda kicks out.
Toyoda yells at Kudo to bring it while still on her knees. These two trade shots back and forth from their knees, before the head butts begin! Blood and sweat are flying everywhere as these two scream and smack and blast each other with blows. Toyoda delivers a flurry of right hands before grabbing Kudo by the hair and lifting her up. Toyoda tries for another Lariat, but Kudo ducks it and delivers a Spinning Back Elbow, cleaning Toyoda's clock! Kudo is stumbling, bleeding buckets now, and makes a motion telling the crowd it is all over! Kudo grabs the bloody mohawk of Toyoda pulls her in, hooking her arms and lifting her with all of her might... THE KUDOME VALENTINE! COMBAT HAS BEEN CRUSHED ON HER NECK!
Kudo drapes her arm over Toyoda and the referee makes the count, mercifully ending this fight.
Winner by Pinfall: Megumi Kudo
The announce team is really taken aback by the physicality they just witnessed. Even Dump has to give Kudo some props, saying that there is clearly something evil inside of her and she enjoyed watching her appetite for pain. Sato says she has felt betrayal before and what we witnessed was a cathartic, violent end that might allow Kudo to move on now with some peace. Dump says she may have left a piece of herself in that ring here tonight and she is not sure either woman will ever be the same.
Kudo takes the microphone and says that Toyoda pushed her to her limit, physically and mentally, every way possible... but now she feels stronger than ever, and feels that she is ready to achieve greatness again. Out to the stage comes Yoshiko Tamura! Tamura says that Kudo has had her chance and blew it! She says beating Toyoda was impressive, but Tamura says she is the best and deserves her shot, and if she has to fight Kudo to prove it, then she will do what Toyoda couldn't that is completely break Kudome!
Kudo is actually smiling through all of the blood caked on her face and says she would like nothing more than to tear Tamura apart. The fans give a big cheer as we head back to the male announcer's table.
"The Ace of the Universe" Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. The Great Muta
The Great Muta has arrived from America, and he has seemingly targetted the ultra popular Tanahashi in order to destroy the fans' idol. Muta was very methodical and tactical in the attack early, taking his time to choke and beat down Tanahashi, who does a great job selling the power of Muta. Muta would lock on the Muta Lock, but Tanahashi would show his heart and refused to quit. Tanahashi would start to mount some offense, evading the Cartwheel Elbow in the corner and delivering a Sling Blade for a two count. Muta seemed stunned by this and rolled to the outside, but Tanahashi wouldn't let up, flying through the ropes and smashing Muta into the guard rail at high speed. Tanahashi delivers a Suplex on the floor, really hurting Muta and the crowd is eating it up!
Tanahashi sends Muta back into the ring, but gets caught with the Green Mist! Muta then hits a Leaping Heel Kick, taking Tanahashi down, and then works the crowd. Muta really gets the crowd riled up before scooping Tanahashi and delivering a Rib Breaker before heading up top... MOONSAULT! NO! Tanahashi gets the knees up! Winner by Pinfall: Hiroshi Tanahashi
The announcer's are silent for a moment as the fans give Tanahashi a huge ovation. Tenryu says the unorthodox style of Muta is so hard to overcome, and Muta really was trying to make a big impression knocking off one of the top guys in the history of the sport, but Tanahashi proved why he is a master of the big matches.
Tanahashi takes the microphone after the match and says that he is so glad he beat the freak Muta, but he says his journey has just begun. He says whether it is Misawa or Naito, for different reasons, he would love to face either man. He says he will be watching the title match closely tonight, and one day, not so far in the future, he expects he will be holding that gold and representing each of these fans with pride, for everybody that supports him, TANA LOVES YOU!
Tanahashi looks beat but gives his signature guitar stroke pose and heads back to the back as the announcers send it over to the women one more time.
INTERNATIONAL TITLE
"The Dangerous Queen" Akira Hokuto vs. Manami Toyota (c)
Hokuto has a very impressive entrance, holding her sword with her cloak and mask and a very impressive light show. Manami Toyota gets a monster pop coming out and looks very serious. As soon as Toyota hits the ring, Hokuto is across the ring and beating on her, kicking her into the corner before she even has a chance to take off her belt. Hokuto actually takes the belt off of her and smashes her across the face with it, sending her out of the ring. Hokuto parades around the ring with the belt, flipping off all of the fans and then throwing it down to the floor. Hokuto then heads up to the top turnbuckle and seems to be looking to fly out onto Toyota, but the champ has regained her composure and rushes up and knocks Hokuto off, causing her to maybe tweak her knee that she has had problems with in the past! Toyota then heads to the top herself and waits for Hokuto to get to her feet before flipping off the top and smashing her into the floor! The fans are chanting "MANAMI! MANAMI!" as the two roll around on the floor.

Hokuto grabs Manami and tries to bend her in half with a Camel Clutch before blasting Toyota with a Crossface Punch. Hokuto picks up Toyota and delivering a Fisherman's Buster, going for a cover again, but still just a two count.
Hokuto gets up and steps on Toyota's throat and tells her come on and fight! Hokuto lifts up Toyota and tries to whip her, but Toyota leaps up and jumps on the top rope and flies backwards with a Crossbody for a two count! Toyota then grabs Hokuto and takes her down and rolls her over and over in a sort of Abdominal Stretch before attempting a roll-up pin, but still just a two count! Manami grabs Hokuto with a Double Hammerlock and takes her over with a Suplex, bridging but Hokuto manages to kick out again! Toyota looks a bit frustrated and screams in frustration. Hokuto is not moving, selling the devastation of the move she took like the legend she is.
Winner by Pinfall, and STILL International Champion: Manami Toyota
Toyota looks very satisfied as Etsuko Mita and Mima Shimoda grudgingly help their partner Hokuto out of the ring, sulking in defeat. Toyota looks to want to take the mic and address the crowd when suddenly AJA KONG HITS THE RING WITH HER TRASH CAN AND BLASTS TOYOTA OVER THE HEAD WITH IT!
Kong stands over the fallen Toyota as the fans boo, and Dump Matsumoto is cheering like a wild woman at the announcer's table, saying this is better than Christmas watching Toyota's moment ruined by the great Aja Kong! Sato tries to point out that Dump was just saying not long ago how much she hated Kong when Kong was facing Bull Nakano, but Dump says that's old business and this is new business, and she is great now! She says she thinks we are looking at the next International champion, and she may be right, as Kong looks down at the still body of Toyota.
They send us back to the male announce team for the last time tonight.
INTERNATIONAL TITLE
Mitsuharu Misawa (c) vs. Tetsuya Naito
When Naito makes his way to the ring, you know you are looking at a star. He is just so confident and charismatic, and these fans, whether they love him or hate him, can't take their eyes off of him. Misawa, however, has a whole different mystique, and as soon as he makes his way out with the belt around his waist and the green jacket on, you know we are in for a big fight. These two have had a real war of words and simply do not like each other, and it couldn't be more clear before the match even begins how different these two men are. Misawa's stoic, deadpan nature coupled against the sort of smarmy, relaxed, cocky attitude of Naito in the pre-match stare down really says it all.
The match begins slowly, as you might expect from these two. These two are playing games on top of games in there, as Tenryu explains, as every move is contemplated and calculated, with so much on the line, neither man wants to make a mistake and also wants to get into their opponent's head. Misawa gets things going a little more with a big elbow to the back of Naito's head, sending Naito to the outside, but Misawa doesn't bite and stays on the inside, telling Naito to get back in and face him! Misawa poses for the crowd with a raised fist and they cheer for him. Naito looks around, looking a little annoyed, and then rolls back into the ring.
After a short exchange, Naito dropkicks out the knee of Misawa and he really goes to work, locking up Misawa's knee and blasting him repeatedly on the leg. Misawa now rolls out of the ring, and Naito does follow. Naito grabs Misawa and folds up his leg and smashes Misawa onto the guard rail knee first! Naito takes a moment to react, smiling at the crowd and posing for them as Misawa writhes in pain on the floor. Misawa crawls away and tries to pick himself up on the guard rail. Naito runs and leaps, Dropkicking Misawa right over the railing! Naito then rolls back into the ring and poses, smiling on the mat with his head resting and legs crossed, looking very relaxed and the fans are now cheering for Naito!
Misawa has to make his way back into the ring, and Naito stays on him, attacking the leg in the corner. Naito then picks up Misawa and takes him down with a Reverse Tornado DDT out of the corner. Naito works the crowd before he delivers a Split Legged Moonsault, clearly hurting Misawa with two big high impact moves, but Misawa kicks out at two, shaking it off. Naito picks up Misawa and delivers a forearm before trying for a German Suplex, but Misawa delivers a back elbow to block it and reverses, delivering a German Suplex of his own, but he can't hold the bridge with his knee and he goes to selling his knee at barely a two count. Misawa is really hurting from the attack by Naito, and he could be in big trouble.
Misawa stumbles up using the ropes and goes towards the center of the ring, and Naito flies at him with a Forearm! Naito then picks up Misawa and hits a Leg Hook Samoan Drop, plowing the champion into the mat again, but he still only gets a two count! Naito is looking upset, and he yells out, TRANQUILLO... ASSEYANO!!! The fans chant it with him, and he looks fired up now. Naito runs at Misawa and attempts a Destino, but Misawa manages to block it and delivers an Elbow Strike to Naito, followed by a Spinning Back Suplex! Naito rolls out of the ring again and Misawa stumbles up, hobbling, but he limply runs and still flings himself out of the ring right onto Naito with a Tope Suicida Elbow, showing his heart and determination, knowing he was going to hurt himself but still just giving it his all! He doesn't know how to do it any other way!
Misawa picks himself up and then kicks Naito before delivering another big elbow shot, and then grabs Naito by the arms, pulling them back... Naito looks panicked and is trying to break free, but Misawa manages to hit a Tiger Suplex on the floor, still selling the knee afterwards, but Naito is hurting bad! Misawa crawls over to Naito and grabs him by the hair, and the champion is struggling a lot now, pulling Naito up and wincing in extreme pain. He shoves Naito back into the ring with all of his might and then rolls in behind him. Naito is pulling himself up on the ropes and Misawa stumbles over to him and blasts him with another elbow to the back of the head. Misawa pulls Naito backwards and towards the center of the ring, and he hooks his arms. Misawa lifts up Naito and delivers the TIGER DRIVER '91! THE MOVE HE WON THE BELT WITH! MISAWA IS HOLDING HIM WITH THE PIN, BUT HE CAN'T KEEP HIS LEG BENT AND NAITO MANAGES TO ROLL OUT AT TWO!
The crowd can't believe it! Misawa is on the mat holding his leg, punching it and yelling out in agony! Naito looks about beat, maybe not even 100% sure where he is after that straight drop onto his neck, but thanks to all of the strategic damage he did to Misawa, he is still in this thing. Misawa wills himself back to his feet and limps over to Naito, grabbing him by the hair and pulling him up again, digging down deep and going to his bag of tricks, but his bag of tricks usually requires some power, and this instance was no different. Misawa scoops up Naito and is attempting to deliver his Emerald Flowsion finisher, but you can see his knee buckling and Naito manages to shove off and slide out of the hold. Misawa turns, eyes wide, and Naito delivers a HIGH JUMPING BASEMENT DROPKICK, SENDING MISAWA SPINNING INTO THE AIR AND DOWN TO THE MAT! Misawa's leg has officially been destroyed with that blow, and the fans are on their feet in anticipation of Naito finishing this thing off. Naito stalks Misawa, who is rolling on the mat. The tension is building more and more. Misawa is pulling himself up but Naito is staying behind him. Misawa shuffles to the middle of the ring, wincing in pain, squinting and looking for Naito, putting his hands up, showing he still wants to fight with whatever he has left, but Naito rushes him from behind...
DESTINO! DESTINO! NAITO NAILS IT, AND MISAWA IS DONE!
Naito hooks the leg, drenched in sweat and looking half out of it, and the referee counts to three! Naito gets the win, and we have a new champion!
Winner by Pinfall, and NEW International Champion: Tetsuya Naito
The crowd is chanting for Naito as his Los Ingobernales de Japon teammates hit the ring and hug him. They parade him with the title belt in hand, looking relieved and overjoyed! Tenryu says that Naito put on a masterful performance, he did the work early to Misawa's knee and Misawa couldn't overcome it, but nobody can deny the heart and fight in Misawa.
Misawa is carried out to the back with a big bag of ice of his knee before we cut back to the new champion celebrating in the ring and "Grand Slam" comes to a close in grand fashion, with a huge celebration and a new champion as the fans embrace the new era.
