Once the video package ends, the camera pans around the Budokan Hall before slowly zooming in on the announcer's table, where are greeted by our announcers team of play-by-play commentator Shinji Yoshino and color analyst and wrestling legend Genichiro Tenryu!
Yoshino:
"Welcome one and all, wrestling fans and those new to the sport, because this is where the best wrestling in the world happens, International Pro Wrestling right here on Nippon TV! I am Shinji Yoshino, and it is my pleasure to introduce to you and to share the call with none other than the legendary Genichiro Tenryu!"
Tenryu gives a hand gesture and nod.
Tenryu:
"It is my pleasure to be here in front of this wonderful, packed crowd and to call the action for you, best the fans in the world. And we have, I believe, one of the best television shows lined up that I have ever been a part of, but, I mean, Shinji, this might be one of the best television episodes of wrestling ever."
Yoshino:
"Genichiro, normally that would just sound like hyperbole, but when you look at the card we have for you tonight, there is no doubt in my mind that you might be right. In the main event, we have Kenta Kobashi and Jun Akiyama taking on Kazuchika Okada and Shinsuke Nakamura!"
Tenryu:
"On free TV! It's unbelievable!"
Yoshino:
"You know that's not all, though, Champ, because we have Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue, THE HOLY DEMON ARMY, taking on Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kota Ibushi, THE GOLDEN ACES!"
Tenryu:
"And you know there's no love lost there, as Kawada and Tanahashi have had a little history going back to Infinite Spirit Pro, and I am sure they are looking forward to another opportunity to get at one another!"
Yoshino:
"Also on the show, we will have former World champion Kensuke Sasaki taking on the very explosive Tsuyoshi Kikuchi..."
Tenryu:
"Who has held many championships himself and been part of some of the best matches of all time."
Yoshino:
"You've got that right, who could forget his 1992 run with Kenta Kobashi as Tag Team champions. And also, we will see JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER taking on the hard hitting, excellent and recent former WCW Television champion, Katsuyori Shibata!"
Tenryu:
"That is going to be a good one..."
Yoshino:
"And that match is NEXT!"
Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Liger has Koji Kanemoto and Minoru Tanaka as his seconds, while Shibata has Hirooki Goto in his corner. These two start by testing each other on the mat, but Liger gets frustrated and grabs at Shibata's eyes, leading him to get furious and send Liger out of the ring. Kanemoto and Tanaka get on the apron and try to goad Shibata, but Goto goes after them. Liger gets back into the ring and Shibata goes for his hair, but Liger chops him in the throat and then delivers a Back Suplex before posing and flexing on his chest for barely a two count. Liger stays on Shibata against the ropes and in the corner, delivering a big palm strike and then a Fisherman's Suplex, but still just a two count. After some taunting, Liger heads up top but gets caught flying off with a Dropkick! Shibata delivers a Penalty Kick, but just a two! Shibata stays on Liger, grabbing him with a Rear Waist Lock and is maybe looking for a German Suplex, but Kanemoto and Tanaka once again get on the apron. This turns the ref's head and stops Shibata just long enough for Liger deliver a low Mule Kick! Shibata is hurting here and the fans are booing wildly as the referee is scolding Kanemoto and Tanaka. Liger grabs Shibata towards the corner and lifts him, delivering the Running Liger Bomb, and it's all over! Liger wins in crooked fashion, and he and his group have gone full heel here!
Winner by Pinfall: Jushin Liger
Liger shoves Shibata's head with his foot as the referee raises his hand, and Goto hits the ring, shoving him in the chest and sending him flying out of the ring with power and intensity! Liger rolls out and is joined by Kanemoto and Tanaka, who pat him on the pat and wave off off Goto, saying they don't need to waste their time with that loser! Goto helps up Shibata and we go back to the announcer's table.
Tenryu:
"Liger and his group showing their terrible attitudes here. It will come to bite them in the ass one day..."
Yoshino:
"I would certainly hope so. We were hoping for a good, clean contest there, but Liger and company didn't seem to want to leave anything to chance and used underhanded tactics to get ahead. I am now hearing that International champion Mitsuharu Misawa has some words for the fans, so let's head to the ring to see what he has to say."
From behind the curtain comes Mitsuharu Misawa, wearing his emerald green jacket and International championship belt around his waist, making his way to the ring with his trademark stoic look on his face. The fans are going crazy, though, and he gives them a modest fist pump once he enters the ring and grabs the microphone.
Misawa:
"Thank you everybody for your support, and for being here for International Pro Wrestling's first television taping. There are some great wrestlers on this roster, some I have competed against in the past, some I have never met in a wrestling ring. The one thing all of them have in common in that they want what is mine, the International title, and I will take on all comers for this title, and prove to be the greatest champion in wrestling with all of you behind me."
The fans give Misawa a good ovation, but then we hear "Stardust" hit the speakers and out comes TETSUYA NAITO, along with the three other members of Los Ingobernales de Japon in Sanada, Shingo Takagi, and Hiromu Takahashi behind him. Naito is slightly smirking with his crooked cap on and looking very arrogant as he raises the microphone to his face.
Naito:
"You look like you're having so much fun carrying my belt around, Misawa. If you were any happier, you'd probably be taking a nap, just like all of these fans want to do after hearing you talk!"
The fans boo Naito, who gives a cool, casual gesture with his hand, telling them to quiet down.
Naito:
"You walk around using my title, Misawa, and if you really want to prove you're such a 'great champion', well... I'm sure you'd have no problem putting that title on the line against me."
The fans like the sound of that. Misawa looks around, and then stares back towards Naito, his expression never changing, and he seems genuinely unimpressed with the former champion.
Misawa:
"Your title, Naito? You lost this title. To Buddy Murphy. You have no claim to this title. You are just a clown for these people to laugh at, while I am the ring master. I wrestle for children in the crowd, I don't wrestle children in the ring. Speaking of children, there is a primary school child looking for their hat and jacket, and I think I found it."
Misawa lowers the mic, staring at Naito with a deadpan look and the fans laugh at Naito. Naito maintains his cool demeanor and says something to his stablemates off the mic, and they begin walking towards the ring.
Naito:
"Yeah, I lost the title. You're right. But did I ever get a rematch? No, I didn't. And a lot has happened since then. And I deserve my rematch, finally, and to take back my spot as the International champion."
They enter the ring and stare down with Misawa, who doesn't budge an inch.
Naito:
"And you'll give me that match, Misawa... or we will beat you into the ground right now... and I'll just take the title. Either way, that title is mine."
Misawa doesn't even blink, staring in Naito's eyes.
Misawa:
"You'll have to kill me then, because that's the only way you're ever going to get this title."
Misawa lowers the mic.
Naito:
"I've tried to reason with you... I've warned you... so now... TRANQULIO... ASSENAYO!"
BOOM! The calm is no more, and Naito, Shingo, Sanada, and Hiromu are punching and stomping Misawa as the fans boo! Naito is trying to get the belt off of Misawa's waist when out to the ring comes NAOMICHI MARUFUJI, KENTA, AND MINORU SUZUKI! They start cleaning house as Misawa clutches the belt on the mat, refusing to relinquish it before Naito is sent the floor with a Superkick from Marufuji! LIJ retreat, holding their heads and ribs all the way up the ramp as the fans cheer!
We head back to the announcer's table.
Yoshino:
"What excitement! That was a wild turn of events!"
Tenryu:
"Naito and his group, the LIJ, they are way out of line, but I think the methods will lead to a title match."
Yoshino:
"I don't see a man with the fortitude of Misawa backing down from that challenge. Now we head back to the ring for our next match!"
Kensuke Sasaki vs. Tsuyoshi Kikuchi
Kikuchi is in the ring being seconded by Yoshinari Ogawa, while Sasaki makes a big entrance with his partners Masahiro Chono, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, and Satoshi Kojima, who call themselves Dark Nation. Kikuchi tries to get the match started fast early, but Sasaki manages to get a take down and then powers Kikuchi right out of the ring. Chono, Tenzan and Kojima lay boots to Kikuchi on the outside before rolling him back into the ring. Ogawa is on the outside protesting, but kind of backs off when Dark Nation starts circling the ring towards him, begging them off as the match continues. Sasaki stalks Kikuchi in the ring and delivers a Lariat. Sasaki covers, but only a two count. Sasaki locks on the Strangle Hold Gamma, and Kikuchi quickly taps out.
Winner by Submission: Kensuke Sasaki
Chono chases off Kikuchi and Ogawa with a chain, and Dark Nation pose in the ring as we head to commercial.
We get a commercial advertisement for FQ magazine's cover feature on Hiroshi Tanahashi, available next month wherever you purchase your magazines or digitally on the FQ magazine app!
Holy Demon Army: Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada vs. Golden Aces: Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kota Ibushi
The fans were super hyped for this, and we had a long moment after the bell as the wrestlers tried to decide how they wanted to start things off. Kawada would try to goad Tanahashi out first, and Tanahashi would tease that he was going to oblige, but then tagged out and had Ibushi enter the ring, showing disrespect to Kawada. Kawada and Ibushi would have some really good back and forth exchanges on the mat until Ibushi began striking Kawada, leading Kawada answer back with even bigger strikes. Kawada and Taue would then start trading tags and beating on Ibushi, with Taue, the biggest man in the match, delivering a massive Chokeslam that nearly got a three count. Ibushi would manage to get the tag to Tanahashi as Taue was tagging out to Kawada, and the place would erupt, as Tanahashi would hit a Sling Blade upon entering and get a two count. Tanahashi would then Dropkick Kawada from the ring and deliver a High Speed Suicide Dive through the ropes and the fans are going nuts! Kawada would reverse a whip into the guardrail and then deliver a Running High Boot to Tanahashi, sending him into the crowd. Ibushi would show his amazing agility, flying over the turnbuckles and wiping out Kawada and Taue on the floor!
Ibushi delivers a German Suplex to Kawada on the floor and sends him back into the ring. Tanahashi heads up to the top turnbuckle after reemerging from the crowd and attempts the High Fly Flow on Kawada, but Kawada gets the knees up! Taue is in the ring, and then delivers a Back Drop Driver/Chokeslam to Tanahashi, but Ibushi breaks up the pin attempt! Ibushi delivers a High Knee to Taue, sending him out of the ring, and then flies out onto him with a Springboard Moonsault! Kawada is looking for a Brainbuster, but Tanahashi blocks it and tries for a Dragon Suplex, but Kawada breaks free and hits a Pele Kick! Taue has tossed Ibushi into the crowd by his throat with a wild Chokeslam variation and is back on the apron. Kawada grabs Tanahashi by the hair and pulls him towards the corner as Taue goes up top. Kawada has Tanahashi up with a Powerbomb and Taue is on the top turnbuckle and grabs him by the throat, and they hit a POWERBOMB/SUPER CHOKESLAM COMBINATION! Kawada folds over Tanahashi and Ibushi can't get to the ring in time to make the save. The Holy Demon Army win the match!
Winners by Pinfall: Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada
After the match, Kawada grabs a microphone.
Kawada:
"You pretty boys don't belong in the ring with us! We are the best tag team in IPW, and we will become the International Tag Team champions!"
The fans cheer for Taue and Kawada as they leave the ring looking very good. Tanahashi and Ibushi don't look to be very pleased and in quite a bit of pain after that beating.
We go backstage, where we see the Chaos group standing in, consisting of Kazuchika Okada, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Tomohiro Ishii. Okada and Nakamura have their own sort of charisma and postures, while "The Stone Pitbull" is menacing behind them.
Okada:
"You can all rest easy now, your idol, 'The Rainmaker' has arrived, along with 'The King of Strong Style' and 'The Stone Pitbull'... and we are Chaos, here to take over IPW!"
Nakamura:
"That's right, that's right... and tonight we face team called BURNING... how exciting!"
Okada:
"And tonight, we leave them in a pile of dust as we prove ourselves to the LIVING GODS of IPW!"
Okada does his arms out pose, Nakamura does his fingers in front of the eyes, and Ishii just has his arms crossed, looking stern as we head to the ring.
Burning: Jun Akiyama & Kenta Kobashi vs. Chaos: "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada & "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura
The rich and arrogant Okada and the eccentric Nakamura make their way out with Tomohiro Ishii in their corner, while Burning have Go Shiozaki watching their back. Akiyama and Okada start this match off, and they go to the mat and trade holds back and forth before Okada gets the better of Akiyama. The pace picks up and Okada eventually delivers a BEAUTIFUL Dropkick, posing afterwards as the camera shoots out, showing the power of "The Rainmaker"! Akiyama gets fired up and uses hard forearms to shiver Okada, before dumping him with an Exploder Suplex and then tagging out to Kobashi. Kobashi lands a series of chops to Okada in the corner before Akiyama runs and flies into Okada with a High Knee, and then Akiyama and Kobashi proceed to hit a Double Suplex that earns a two count.
Ishii is arguing with the ref on the outside. Kobashi yells at Ishii to shut his mouth and then delivers kicks and then a German Suplex, earning a two count and Okada is reeling. Okada makes the tag out to Nakamura, who comes in with a lot of swagger and taunts Kobashi, causing Kobashi get mad and come at Nakamura hot. Nakamura manages to weather the barrage of Kobashi and counter him, taking him down and locking him in a Cross Armbar, which makes Kobashi retreat to the ropes. Nakamura lays a series of kicks on Kobashi before delivering a Running Knee Strike to Kobashi in corner, taking him down for a two count. Nakamura tags back out to Okada and holds Kobashi in place, allowing Okada to hit a Missile Dropkick, which also yields a two count. Shiozaki is now yelling about the double teaming and Ishii looks like he is going to go over and start to fight with Go, but both men stand down and intensely stare at one another for the remainder of the contest.
Okada stays on the attack, trying for The Rainmaker, but Kobashi ducks it and grabs Okada, taking him over with a Half Nelson Suplex! Kobashi shakes off the cobwebs as Okada stumbles up, and Kobashi delivers a big LARIAT, going for the cover, but Nakamura is in and breaks it up! Kobashi makes the tag out to Akiyama. Akiyama comes off the top rope with a Knee Strike to Okada and goes for a cover, but still a two count. Akiyama picks up Okada and tries for the Wrist Clutch Exploder, but Okada elbows his way out and manages to grab Akiyama from behind, clutching his wrist and pulling him around for the Rainmaker! Okada covers, but Kobashi breaks it up! Nakamura is in, though, and deliversthe BOMA-YE Knee Strike to Kobashi as he is on his knees after diving for the break up, sending him to the outside! Okada lifts Akiyama up and scoops him, and Nakamura grabs Akiyama's legs helps Okada dump him hard with a Tombstone Piledriver! Okada makes the cover as Nakamura guards Kobashi on the outside and the match is over. Okada gets the pinfall!
Winners by Pinfall: Kazuchika Okada & Shinsuke Nakamura
The program closes with Burning retreating up the ramp, accepting defeat gracefuly as Chaos pose in the ring. Yoshino and Tenryu sign off, and this show has come to an end.
