INTERNATIONAL PRO WRESTLING
"RISE TO POWER"
11/01/2020
PHIALDELPHIA, PA
The show opens with Joey Styles and Mick Foley welcoming the fans, and talking up the show. We see clips from CM Punk and Seth Rollins' videos they posted on the internet, before a short montage hyping the main event, and then we headed to the ring.
The Urban Legends: Eddie Kingston & Homicide w/ Low Ki vs. #Influencers: Kenny Omega & Tyler Breeze
Omega and Breeze make their way out with selfie sticks, and before the match they tell the fans to follow them on various platforms before attempting to make a TikTok video in the middle of the ring. Kingston and Homicide had seen enough and attacked them from behind. Homicide takes Breeze to the outside, and continues to beat him down. Kingston stalks Omega for a moment before blasting him with a Spinning Backfist, and that's it. Lights out, one, two, three, and the Urban Legends get the quick win as the Philly fans cheer them on.
Winners by Pinfall: Eddie Kingston & Homicide
After the match, Kingston gets on the mic and says if you're here to cheer for guys like these two clowns who make a mockery of this business, then fuck you! The Urban Legends are here, and they are here to bring horror to the IPW tag team division. Homicide takes the mic and says get in their way and you're leaving in a body bag, BRRRLLLAAATTT!!! Ki stomps Omega on the way out, looking disgusted, and they leave the ringside area.
Backstage, Kevin Kelly is standing in with Buddy Murphy and Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, who will be facing off for the Cruiserweight title later tonight. Murphy says that Scott may be better than a lot of the cruiserweights in IPW, but he says he is called "Big League" for a reason. He says he is in a league of his own, and Scott should be thanking him for allowing him to be in the same ring as "Mr. Marquee" tonight. Scott says it is pathetic how Murphy views himself, but he says people like him, who look like him, act like him and think like him have tried to hold him down his whole life. He says guys like him have tried to hold people like him down since the dawn of time, but he says tonight, Buddy and everybody who thinks like him are in for a rude awakening, as "Swerve" will be the first name plated on that belt.
Cedric Alexander vs. Maxwell Jacob Friedman
Friedman was very confidant coming into this match, but Alexander wasn't impressed and gave him a hell of a fight for about six minutes. MJF would end up catching Alexander in the Freidman Armbar Special, cranking it on and getting the tap out to get the win.
Winner by Submission: MJF
MJF takes the mic afterwards and says Alexander is like every other stinking, disgusting mouth breather in this building, and he is nothing but a waste of space! MJF says he is better than everybody in Philadelphia, and certainly better than everybody in IPW, and they all know it! He gets a lot of boos and some threats of violence on the way out.
The Southern Death Squad: "Hangman" Adam Page & Cameron Grimes vs. Wild'N'Crazy: "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards & "World Class Maniac" Eric Young
This was a very gritty back and forth match that didn't last long, but the physicality put it above anything else we had seen thus far. We saw a few near falls, before Page would manage to deliver a Buckshot Lariat to catch Edwards and get the pinfall.
Winners by Pinfall: Adam Page & Cameron Grimes
Backstage, we see Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn standing in with Kevin Kelly. Sami says that Kevin Owens should have just been handed the IPW Heavyweight title, but NO! No, they have him working a four way just to earn a SHOT at the title! He says it is ridiculous, and he is going to be at ringside, keeping Joey and Mick honest and making sure no funny business happens during this stupid match!
Jay Lethal vs. Will Ospeary
This was a bit of a spotfest, and it wasn't exactly clear who the face or heel was. It was very competitive, though, and quite impressive from an athletic stand point. Lethal would manage to catch Ospeary coming in mid-air, reversing the OsCutter into a Uranage Backbreaker, right into the Reverse STO, delivering his Lethal Combination to get the pinfall!
Winner by Pinfall: Jay Lethal
After the match, Ospeary seems very disgruntled and slaps the mat. He gets into an argument with a fan at the end it seems to nearly come to blows before security gets involved.
We see CM Punk standing in the back with Kevin Kelly, along with Chris Hero, who he calls Coach Chris. He says he has been training for this match like no other match he can really remember. He says he heard what Rollins said on Twitter about teaching him what his knees are for, and Punk says by the end of the match, he plans on making it so Seth Rollins won't even be able to walk away, and he'll have to just lay there and watch CM Punk hoist the Heavyweight title in victory.
The Renassaince: Cesaro & Gulak vs. Supernova: Kushida & Shinsuke Nakamura
This was a very intense and a great psychological battle between two very good new teams here in IPW. Gulak and Cesaro would end up getting the win when Gulak delivered a Belly-to-Back Suplex to Kushida as Cesaro delivered a European Uppercut to the back of his head, bridging it to get the three count as Cesaro blocked Nakamura from breaking up the pin.
Winners by Pinfall: Cesaro & Gulak
Apollo Crews vs. Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett Bordeaux
Kross had a very impressive entrance, which earned him a lot of jeers from the crowd. Crews didn't seem phased and let him have it for a few minutes, but Kross seemed to just eat the punishment and get stronger before delivering a Roundhouse Kick to the head and then a Doomsday Saito Suplex. Kross would catch a choke on Crews, causing his eyes to roll into the back of his head, and this match was over.
Winner by Submission: Karrion Kross
Excelsior: Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong vs. American Alpha: Chad Gable & Jason Jordan
This was an excellent technical wrestling match, which saw the heels Excelsior have to resort to taking their opponents to the outside to get the advantage. Gable and Jordan would hit the Grand Amplitude on Strong near the end, but Fish would break up the pin with a beautiful Moonsault! Fish and Strong would hit a Single Leg Dropkick/Legsweep combo on Jordan, and they were able to get the pinfall.
Winners by Pinfall: Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong
Gable would shove Jordan on the way out, waving his hands at him and apparently saying he is done with him.
IPW Cruiserweight Title
"Big League" Buddy Murphy vs. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott
Murphy would shove his hand down his pants before the action started and demanded that Scott shake his hand. "Swerve" spit in his face and then delivered a high kick that sent Murphy to the outside, which lead to "Swerve" delivering a Springboard Moonsault off the middle turnbuckle to take him out on the floor! Back in the ring, "Swerve" hits a Rolling Thunder STO for a two count. Murphy makes a comeback, delivering a NASTY Beil Throw into the buckles that looked it broke Scott's neck, OH MY GAWD! Murphy milked that for a minute, goading the fans into a chant as Scott in a daze pulled himself up on the buckles. Scott got up to a knee before Murphy stormed in and blasted him with a knee to the side of the face in BRUTAL fashion! Murphy went for the cover, but only a two count. Murphy argued with the referee, shoving him down and then argued with the fans. Buddy then grabbed Scott and went for a powerbomb, but "Swerve" reversed it into a DDT! Scott then delivered an Axe Kick, followed by a Single Leg Dropkick to the back of Murphy's head, but only got a two count. "Swerve" picked up Murphy and delivered a Michinoku Driver II and rolled away, pointing to the top turnbuckle. "Swerve" went up top and went for the Swerve Stomp, but Murphy rolled out of the way. Scott rolled through it, and when he got back to his feet, Murphy stormed him and delivered a Bicycle Knee Strike! Murphy went for the cover, but still just a two! Murphy called for the end in dramatic fashion with the throat slash and a thumbs down. Murphy picked up Scott and lifted him, trying for Murphy's Law, but "Swerve" escaped it and rolled up Murphy with a Prawn Hold, and he bridges backwards... ONE, TWO, THREE! Scott wins it with a flash pin!
Winner by Pinfall, and NEW IPW Cruiserweight Champion: Isaiah "Swerve" Scott
After the match, Murphy shoves the referee, and Scott grabs the title belt and hits Murphy in the back with it, sending him out of the ring and under the ropes, humiliated and in a lot of pain! "Swerve" celebrates with the belt on the buckles as the fans cheer him on!
IPW Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership Match
Aliester Black vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Kevin Owens
Zayn made his way out to commentary, and Styles and Foley were sarcastic with him the whole match. This was a four way match. I'm sure you can guess how this kind of went. I don't really like these matches, but it is going to serve a means to an end here. The ending sequence went down like this. Hardy has Owens down with his feet somewhat near the ropes and he heads up top. Zayn jumps up from commentary and pulls Owens out to safety as Hardy is in mid-air, and Hardy eats canvas. Aliester Black is in the ring and tries for the Black Mass, but Hardy ducks it. Bryan is in and delivers the Flying High Knee to Black as he is regaining his footing. Bryan gets back to his feet and Hardy kicks him and delivers the Twist of Fate, and it's over. Jeff Hardy gets the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Jeff Hardy
Hardy looks upset or angry, and yanks his arm away from the referee and just walks off. He is clearly going through something.
IPW Heavyweight Title
"The Best in the World" CM Punk vs. "The Wrestling Messiah" Seth Rollins
Rollins is getting a lot of heat here, acting holier than thou with his sunglasses and cane. Punk gets a big pop with Chris Hero in his corner. I don't like a lot of what Seth Rollins is doing these days, as it just doesn't make much sense, so he didn't do a lot of his usual shenanigans. We didn't have anybody no selling a Superplex or meaningless, gratuitous dives. This was a serious athletic competition, and Rollins would do good to get himself over as a heel. Punk would attack his legs, trying to take away the major weapons on Rollins and did a good job of it. Rollins would have to take a break to the outside, slapping the apron in frustration as Punk worked the shoot kicks and a strong Half Crab. Punk would just lay back in the corner and yell at Rollins to get back in and bring it. Back inside, Punk would go back on the attack but Rollins would fish hook both sides of Punk's mouth and then deliver a low knee, before working over Punk's back for awhile, really milking the fans in the process. In the end, Punk would have trouble getting Rollins up for the GTS because of his back and Rollins would be a step slow trying for the Curb Stomp, leading Punk to taking Rollins down and locking him in an STF and cranking the shit out of it to finally make him tap out. Punk wins and all are happy in Philadelphia.
Winner, and NEW IPW Heavyweight Champion: CM Punk
Rollins looks extremely distraught, just sitting on the floor, mouth kind of agape and with a thousand yard stare. Punk celebrates and the show comes to an end.
