INTERNATIONAL PRO WRESTLING
"FRIDAY NIGHT WRESTLING, EPISODE 1"
QUEENS, NEW YORK
The show opens with Joey Styles and Jeremy Borash welcoming us to Queens, New York, as tonight we have a very special first episode of "Friday Night Wrestling"! Tonight, we will see Isaiah "Swerve" Scott and Bandido, two men who are no strangers to one another, do battle for the right to be called the first ever IPW Lightweight Champion! Also tonight, Rob Van Dam and Zack Sabre Jr. will be squaring off in a Catchweight bout, as RVD tries to avenge a previous tag team submission loss to ZSJ.
But, without any further delay, let's get to what is sure to be a very exciting opener, as Japanese idol CIMA takes on the dangerous, demented, and deranged man they call... DELIRIOUS!
Lightweight Match
CIMA vs. Delirious
These two men both have very unique styles in the ring and seemingly endless moves at their disposal. The fans were behind the offbeat and unorthodox Delirious, while CIMA would get very frustrated throughout the contest and lean on more rulebreaking style tactics by the end. CIMA would show his versatility and creativity late in the match, reversing Delirious' Shadows Over Hell into a Codebreaker, and then delivering a deadlift Crossfire Powerbomb to get the pinfall victory!
Winner by Pinfall: CIMA
After the match, CIMA and his translator spoke with Jeremy Borash. CIMA says he's not sure he has ever faced an opponent quite like Delirious and doesn't think he should have to again. He says he is a serious competitor who wants real competition, not psychopaths let out of an asylum. CIMA says he has his sights on Scott or Bandido, as he feels he has proven his worth with the wins he has earned and Dan Severn had better take notice!
Heavyweight Match
Bronson Reed vs. Curt Hawkins
Hawkins would do a pretty good job early on of trying neutralize the size advantage of Reed, but it was only a matter of time before the big "THICC" Australian got going. The fans were behind Hawkins here as a hometown guy, but Reed proved to be too much tonight. Hawkins would try to make a comeback late in the match, but "Aus-zilla" would reverse a Hangman's Facebuster attempt and deliver a massive King Kong Lariat to get the three count.
Winner by Pinfall: Bronson Reed
After the match, Bronson Reed told Jeremy Borash that he can hear all the boos in the crowd, but he ain't sorry for beating their hometown boy! He says business is business, and he's got to make a name for himself, because the Heavyweight division here in IPW just got a whole lot better recently. He says he knows what he can do, and he knows he can stand and bang with any guy in the back, so he's ready when the time comes to prove his worth.
Middleweight Match
Cameron Grimes vs. Jerry Lynn
Cameron Grimes went after Jerry Lynn viciously in this match, even taking him to the outside and catapulting him into the crowd, causing the referee to do a reset in the middle of the ring. Back in the middle of the ring, Grimes would attack Lynn's ribs and tried to get the win with a Backflip Fallaway Slam, but Lynn somehow kicked out at two. Lynn would catch Grimes coming in hot with a boot in the corner, and proceeding to springboard off the middle turnbuckle and catch Grimes with an extra rotation on his Spinning DDT, and that was enough to get the come from behind victory for the veteran tonight!
Winner by Pinfall: Jerry Lynn
Lynn told Borash after the match that he just took a Hell of a beating, but he didn't come to IPW to be a quitter. He says he's always kept his head down and just got the job done, no matter what, unlike some big mouths in the company. He says Buddy Murphy is talking a lot of garbage on the internet, but he says he'd sure like to get a chance to shut that mouth for him. The fans in Queens seem to love that idea, and Borash vocally suggests Severn make it happen over the mic before heading back to his post at ringside.
Middleweight Match
Hayabusa vs. Sean Waltman
Hayabusa stunned "Pac" early on with a front dropkick right off the rip, sending him out of the ring. From there, H flew out onto him with an Asai Moonsault, getting the fans going and chanting his name! Hayabusa would even deliver Waltman's own Sit-Out Facebuster on the floor, and it looked really bad for "Syxx" here. The referee would distract Hayabusa, telling him to bring the match back inside and Waltman managed to deliver a low blow, getting boos from the fans. Waltman then grabbed a chair and smacked Hayabusa on the back, causing him to fall over the guardrail. The referee went out to break things up, but Waltman threw the chair into the crowd onto Hayabusa and got a warning from the referee. Waltman put his hands up and went back inside, and the referee managed to get Hayabusa back into the ring and restart the bout. Hayabusa would manage to dodge Waltman's onslaught and get back on the offensive, nearly getting a win with a Falcon Arrow. Hayabusa would measure up Waltman and head up top, jumping off and spinning, but "Pac" delivered a BEAUTIFUL Black Mass style Spin Kick, catching Hayabusa under the chin in mid-air and knocking him unconscious! The fans couldn't believe it, as Waltman covered for the three count!
Winner by Pinfall: Sean Waltman
The crowd is electric with a mix of boos and cheers, as that was an exciting finish but the wrong man won in their opinion. Borash would ask Waltman how he felt about that match, and "Pac" says he never had a problem. He said it was just the old rope a dope method at work, he let Hayabusa do all of his flashy shit, waited for him to make a mistake and BAM, took his fuckin' head off! He says his old buddy Jerry Lynn is calling for title shots, but he says Dan Severn and IPW can eat their heart out on that one, because it's just too sweet! Sean Waltman is here in IPW, he says, and if anybody's got a problem with that, he's got two words for 'em! The fans finish that one happily, as that's always a crowd pleaser, and Waltman leaves looking very satisfied.
Heavyweight Match
Austin Theory vs. Lance Storm
Storm would need to tap into every bit of knowledge and experience he had to take down this thoroughbred in Austin Theory. These two kept it relatively clean and inside the ring for this one, as they traded holds, counters, the pace just went back and forth. Fans of the sweet science and of mat grappling really got a treat, but it was Storm would was able to utilize a Crucifix Roll-Up as a counter to get the three in the end. Storm would look to shake Theory's hand afterwards, but the brash young man blew him off, telling him he wouldn't be so lucky next time.
Winner by Pinfall: Lance Storm
Borash hits the ring and Storm looks winded but very happy, smiling and wiping off his brow with a towel. Borash congratulates Storm, and Storm says apparently he pissed in that kid's Wheaties, but he couldn't care less, he got the job done. He says any young guy coming in here thinking they are going to make a name off of Lance Storm is sadly mistaken. He says things have been a little bumpier than he had hoped when he arrived, and he knows the competition at Heavyweight is the best you're going to find anywhere in the world, but he says he is feeling fit and ready and, if he can be serious for a minute, he says he knows deep down he can take any man on this roster and he will one day be the Heavyweight champion of IPW.
Catchweight Match
Rob Van Dam vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
This match was about unfinished business for Rob Van Dam, and Zack Sabre Jr. trying to prove his submission victory over RVD wasn't a fluke. Sabre would try to lock up and take down RVD early, but RVD was able to sprawl and escape his advances before catching him with a high roundhouse kick, nearly taking his head off! RVD would go for the cover, but Sabre would kick out, but just barely. Van Dam would lift up Sabre and slam him before running off the ropes and going for his Rolling Thunder, but Sabre managed to come to his senses and pivot his position, locking RVD into a Cross Armbar as he came down! Van Dam is looking to be in a bad way, but he manages to roll and then viciously stomps Sabre in the face to escape the hold! RVD takes a moment to shake off the cobwebs as the referee checks ZSJ. RVD grabs Sabre by the hair and pulls him up, laying into him with forearms before hooking him and trying to take him over with a Suplex, but Sabre reverses it and very quickly locks RVD into an Octopus Hold! RVD fights and fights for an agonizing 20 seconds as the fans chant for him to tap out, but just as he gets to the ropes to break it, Sabre adjusts the hold and pulls him down for a cradle roll-up pin attempt! RVD is in trouble, but somehow kicks out!
Sabre is up and he runs off the ropes, trying for the Penality Kick on RVD, but Van Dam dodges it and pulls Sabre down with a School Boy! One, two, NO! Sabre kicks out, but RVD pops up to his feet like a ninja and blasts him with a Kneeling Superkick! RVD rushes, leaping over Sabre and bouncing off the ropes in the corner with the Split Legged Moonsault! RVD isn't done, though, as he pulls Sabre out closer to the center of the mat and staggers around, motioning and taunting the fans as they chant, "ROB! VAN! DAM!" RVD leaps up to the top turnbuckle and flies off, attempting the Five Star Frog Splash, but ZSJ once again comes to life and pivots on the mat, grabbing RVD into the Triangle Choke out of nowhere! RVD is fighting it, and Sabre adjusts and switches positions, pulling RVD into an Omoplata, and he's trying to the Jim Breaks Special, but RVD is able to roll out and escape.
Sabre tries desperately to stay on Van Dam, grabbing him in a waist lock and trying to pull him back down, but RVD manages to sort of cartwheel his way out of it. RVD goes for a Bicycle Kick, but ZSJ avoids it and delivers a series of shoot kicks to the legs of Van Dam, followed by a Running European Uppercut! Both men are down now. We have dueling chants from the fans, as both men stagger to their feet. ZSJ unleashes a series of open hand shots, left and right, to Van Dam, but Van Dam ducks down and delivers a Legsweep to Sabre, followed by a Spinning Kick to his head, and then a Cannonball in the corner! Sabre has been crushed, and once again RVD pulls Sabre out into the center of the ring. RVD doesn't bother taunting this time, and tries to get to the top rope as quickly as possible. FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH! RVD manages to nail it, and though it takes him a second to make the cover, it doesn't matter. This match is over, Rob Van Dam gets the win!
Winner by Pinfall: Rob Van Dam
Van Dam is holding his ribs after the match, sucking air as Borash comes in and congratulates him on the win. Borash asks how it feels to avenge that tough loss, and RVD says it feels good to get that monkey off of his back, but he thinks he should have been able to finish him sooner. He says he sees how the competition has grown around here, and he says Sabre is a spunky kid, but he thinks he should have knocked him out way sooner, but hey? He says the fans got their money's worth and that's what he's all about. He says he stole the show tonight, as always, and he's going to hit the gym even harder once he heals up and he's going to come back stronger than ever.
IPW Lightweight Title
Bandido vs. Isaiah Scott
These two know each other very well, as their paths have intersected many times over the past couple of years, and now, in storybook fashion, they find themselves once again at a crossroads, but this time with championship gold on the line. "Swerve" would try to pick up the pace early on Bandido and avoid getting caught by the stronger man, but Bandido is very fast and agile, and these two put on an exchange of moves that left these fans breathless. Eventually Scott would manage to get the upper hand, sending Bandido out of the ring, and delivered a Springboard Corkscrew Senton off the middle rope to the outside onto Bandido, and that got these fans behind him!
Bandido would manage to reverse a Huracanrana from Scott off the apron, and send him into the turnpost hard with a Powerbomb to get things going his way again. Bandido would roll into the ring and show his amazing agility, running corner to corner and flying over the buckles and post, flipping in mid-air to hit a variation of the Fosbury Flop that was absolutely phenomenal. Joey Styles was jumping out of his seat on that one, going nuts, as were the fans. Back in the ring, Bandido would catch Scott with a variation of a Go 2 Sleep, but Scott would somehow manage to kick out at two.
Scott would eat some more offense from Bandido, but was able to duck a Superkick and then hit a Rolling Flatliner to get a two count and get the match moving back in his direction. Scott would pick up Bandido and deliver a Tombstone into a Lungblower, thinking he might have it, but still just a two count. "Swerve" would unload a series of kicks from there, ending with a Corkscrew Enzuigiri to take down Bandido, before heading up top. Scott was calling for his Swerve Stomp, but Bandido would manage to get up and catch him with a Spanish Fly before he could leave the top turnbuckle, but only got a two count! Bandido would rally the fans as "Swerve" grabbed onto the middle rope, and he is looking for his 24 Plex! Bandido shows his amazing agility and creativity with his finisher, but Scott shows his heart and agility, flipping off the move, and then handspringing and catching Bandido with a Lethal Injection! Oh man, that was wicked!
Scott rolls to the apron and heads to the top rope... Bandido is still down... and Scott flies off... SWERVE STOMP! HE NAILS IT FLUSH! Scott makes the cover, and the referee counts to three, Isaiah Scott is the inaugural Lightweight champion!
Winner by Pinfall, and NEW IPW Lightweight Champion: Isaiah Scott
Dan Severn is in the ring with title belt and he patiently waits for "Swerve" to compose himself before wrapping it around his waist and buckling it. Severn shakes his hand and then leaves the ring. Jeremy Borash is in and he congratulates Scott and compliments him on an amazing performance. Scott says that was the fight of his life against a guy who's been such a great competitor, a great rival of his over the years. He says they've traded victories back and forth, and tonight, luckily, thankfully, it was his night to come out on top. Borash says he felt like Scott pulled something from deep inside him to get this win, and Scott agrees. He says he felt like things were slipping away, and he says he'll have to go back and watch the tapes, but he just was running on instinct right at the end there, and he's not exactly sure what all went down, but he was just doing whatever he could, whatever he could think of, and he's just so blessed. He says he couldn't have had a more worthy opponent to push him to his limits, but he says he still has really found out what his limits are yet, and he knows now that he's the Lightweight champion, in this stacked Lightweight division, he feels like he is going to find out.
And with that, Joey Styles thanks everybody for tuning in for the first ever "Friday Night Wrestling" here in Queens, and we will see you next time wrestling fans!
