In an old and largely abandoned desert town sits a weathered 2-storey house. It is dark except for the flickers of candlelight bouncing off the walls. Inside, we find Dario Cueto sitting in a chair reading a book on his knees. Beside him, his brother Matanza lays on an unmade bed with each of his limbs tied to the four bedposts with heavy chains. El Santo walks into the room and asks how he is. Dario looks up and says he suffers bouts of cold sweats and he has not eaten a thing. El Santo says that is to be expected. His withdrawal will be painful and he will become weak – much weaker than he is now – before he grows strong. However, when he comes out of this, and his body his own again, the things he learned from being inhabited by the evil spirits inside the Gauntlet of the Gods will make him stronger and more powerful than any of us can imagine. He will become a beacon of light and of hope to humanity. Dario says it is difficult to watch him like this, but he trusts El Santo.
Dario closes the book on his lap and shows it to him. He tells El Santo that he never read this book growing up. His father forbade it. He doesn’t understand why so many people believe in it with their entire hearts. That said, he seems some wisdom in some of the text. El Santo says that blind belief in something can corrupt the soul, fully and completely. It is important to be discerning. One must remember that the words in that book were written by men. They were imperfect and so their work is imperfect. However, the journey of life is not a journey towards achieving perfection. It is a journey in which we must strive to become the best versions of ourselves that we can be. Doing this will make the world a better place. We all have it in us.

Antonio Cueto comes to the ring and says that Ultima Lucha Cuatro is coming soon. We already know that Eddie Guerrero will challenge for the Lucha Underground Championship. However, we don’t know who will challenge for the Mash-Up Wrestling Men’s World Championship or the Mash-Up Wrestling Women’s World Championship. Last year, Antonio created two tournaments to decide who would compete for these prestigious titles. They were named the Dario Cueto Luchadores Cup and the Dario Cueto Luchadoras Cup, in honour of his dearly departed son. However, his son has miraculously risen from the grave and has dishonoured his family by causing the disappearance of his brother Matanza. In light of this fact, these tournaments will now be know as the Antonio Cueto Luchadores Cup and the Antonio Cueto Luchadores Cup. Round one action in the Antonio Cueto Luchadores Cup tournament will take place over the next two weeks with twice as much lucha as normal. 8 first round matches per night! Now, let the lucha begin!

FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
The Godfather vs. The Fiend
Antonio Cueto introduced the newcomer, whose ring entrance was unlike anything the Believers have ever seen. He was unlike anything they have ever seen. The Godfather jumped out to a quick advantage. In under a minute, he took The Fiend for a ride on the Ho Train! Then, he lifted The Fiend onto his shoulders and executed the Pimp Drop! He made the cover and The Fiend kicked out before the referee’s hand could even hit the mat once. The Godather was shocked. The Fiend sat upright. The Godfather tried to attack, but The Fiend blocked and then brutalized him with his fists and his head. He applied a mandible claw. The Godfather managed to get to the ropes. The Fiend broke the hold. When The Godfather regrouped, he charged at him and got a Samoan drop and then the mandible claw was reapplied. This time, The Godfather tapped out. The Fiend refused to let go. The referee tried to get him to let go, but The Fiend pushed him away. The lights went dark with just a red spotlight on the center of the ring. Dark laughter filled the Temple and then the lights went out. When they came back on, neither The Fiend nor The Godfather were anywhere to be seen.
WINNER : The Fiend

Montez Ford vs. Jake Hager
FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORAS CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Montez Ford vs. Jake Hager
It was Hager’s first match in the Temple and Ford’s first without teammates. Ford acquitted himself well. He was a freak of an athlete who was insanely quick and who had an incredible vertical leap. His dropkick was outstanding. He came close to winning the match with a standing shooting star press and a blockbuster off the top rope. He even went coast-to-coast with a missile dropkick. Unfortunately, he didn’t pull Hager far enough away from the ropes. Sammy Guevara put Hager’s foot on the bottom rope. He and Angelo Dawkins got into a fight on the outside. The distraction cost Ford the match as Hager got up, gave him a belly-to-belly suplex and then applied the Ankle Lock. Ford tried to escape, but Hager maintained a grip and then added a legscissors to make it difficult to escape. Ford had no choice but to tap out.
WINNER : Jake Hager

Mike Awesome vs. Rezar
FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Mike Awesome vs. Rezar
With Truth Martini, Famous B and the Beautiful Brenda at ringside, there was the potential for interference or other shenanigans to occur. Fortunately, none of them got involved. Unfortunately, a fight between Truth Martini and Famous B didn’t happen either. It was a contest featuring big power from both big men, a reminder from a few weeks back when Infamous Inc faced the Authors of Pain in a number one contender’s match. Truth Martini’s squad won that one. On this night, without partners, it was Mike Awesome that would get the win after executing an over-the-top-rope topé suicida, a springboard crossbody from the top rope to the outside, some powerbombs and then an Awesome Splash off the top rope.
WINNER : Mike Awesome

FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Johnny Mundo vs. Angel Garza
FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Johnny Mundo vs. Angel Garza
This was an exciting lucha libre contest with plenty of high-flying action. These two kept a fast pace going and managed to pack a ton of action into their 15-minute battle. They mostly kept the action inside the ring, but it did spill out to the floor a couple of times. Garza hit Mundo with a slingshot plancha and an Asai moonsault. Later, when Garza ecaped out to the floor, it was Mundo who came down on him from the ring with a corkscrew plancha. Back in the ring, Mundo got some nearfalls with a standing shooting star press, a standing Spanish fly and moonlight drive. Garza got some nearfalls after executing a corner running double knee smash to Mundo’s face, a diving double-foot stomp to Mundo as he was hung up in the tree of woe, and a reverse superplex. The end came when Garza was setting up for the Wing Clipper. Mundo threw some punches at his ribs to block and then executed a bridging northern lights suplex for two. When he tried to pick up Garza, he got an elbow smash to the jaw and then a superkick. Garza went over to the middle rope and attempted a springboard moonsault, but landed on Mundo’s knees. When they both got up, Mundo ducked a superkick attempt and did a springboard off the middle rope to take him down with the Flying Chuck! After that, he got Garza in position and executed Starship Pain. 1-2-3!
WINNER : Johnny Mundo

FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Dominik Dijakovic vs. Akam
FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Dominik Dijakovic vs. Akam
This big man battle shook the ring a few times. Akam was impressive with his power displays, but Dijakovic shoved off power and athleticism that was impressive for a luchador of his stature. He performed an Asai moonsault that got the Believers to pop. Slowly, as the match went on, the Believers got more and more behind him, especially after executing a top rope superplex on Akam. When Dijakovic executed Feast Your Eyes and pinned Akam for the win, the Believers gave him a round of applause. The ovation was interrupted by Famous B, who came out to say that he is nothing without Infamous Inc., his win was a fluke, and he shouldn’t expect to make it past the next round.
WINNER : Dominik DIjakovic

FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORAS CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Paul London vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts
A tribal war has begun and this is the first official battle in that war. Paul London, of the Rabbit Tribe, takes on the leader of the Reptile Tribe, with El Bunny in his corner. Five minutes into the match, Kobra Moon came out to ringside. Not long thereafter, she got involved when she tripped London after landing on his feet when Roberts gave him a back body drop. El Bunny got in the ring, ran across and knocked her over with a topé suicida. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Roberts got London with a gutbuster and then a short-arm clothesline. He signaled for the DDT but then he saw The White Rabbit appear at the top of the stairs. London got Roberts in a roll-up on the distraction for 1…2… kick out! He nearly won it. London went for a superkick but Roberts blocked it and then took him down with a short-arm clothesline and then gave him a quick DDT as he was trying to get up. 1-2-3!
When El Bunny came into the ring to check on London, Roberts kicked him in the head, prompting The White Rabbit to make his way down the steps. As he did, Roberts quickly left the ring and his Reptile Tribe retreated out from the floor entrance/exit to the ring.
WINNER : Jake “The Snake” Roberts

FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Pentagon DARK vs. Ortiz
Pentagon worked slow and methodical but picked up the pace when it was necessary. It’s a testament to his ability to work different styles that he shift around so many gears as he fought Ortiz, whose partner Santana gave him a helping hand on more than one occasion. After taking Ortiz down with a pair of slingblades, Pentagon ducked a clothesline from Santana and then gave him a slingblade. After executing a double underhook backbreaker on Santana, Pentagon gave Ortiz a superkick and a package piledriver to get the 3-count and advance to the round of 16.
WINNER : Pentagon DARK

FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Damien Priest
FIRST ROUND ANTONIO CUETO LUCHADORES CUP TOURNAMENT MATCH
Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Damien Priest
This was a good match to have as our main event for the evening. Priest has been very impressive since coming under the influence of Catrina. Rey Mysterio Jr., as we know, is a legend whose heart is large and whose fight is even larger. They really gave it their all. Priest threw Mysterio around the ring with a variety of suplexes and slams and took him out with an over the top rope topé suicida. He gave Mysterio a crucifix bomb that nearly won the match. Mysterio fought back with an aerial assault comprised of hurricanranas, titl-a-whirl headscissors, diving crossbodies and dropkicks and a springboard diving hurricanrana from the ring to the floor.
It was at around the 15-minute mark that things went sour for Mysterio. He countered an attack into a wheelbarrow bulldog and when Priest crawled to the ropes to try to get up, Mysterio was keyed up for the 6-1-9. After he hit the move, however, he pulled off the ring apron and dropped with a huge lariat by Roman Reigns. John Cena and Hulk Hogan came out as well, and together, the three of them brutalized Mysterio. He was given a spear into the turnbuckle post, an Attitude Adjustment on the floor and a big running leg drop when his head was wedged between a pair of steel chairs. Hogan took the house mic from Melissa Santos and declared the entire tournament a sham for having left the Pinnacle of Sports Entertainment out of it. Furthermore, they said there wasn’t a luchador in the building who stood a chance of defeating AJ Styles at Ultima Lucha Cuatro because Styles is a real sports entertainer, especially now that the most successful one of all-time had been turned into a vegetable thanks to the Pinnacle of Sports Entertainment!
After they left, Priest took the opportunity to pick up the unconscious Mysterio, bring him into the ring, give him The Reckoning, then he placed a foot on Mysterio’s chest and told the referee to make the count. 1-2-3!
WINNER : Damien Priest

Antonio Cueto and Blue Demon Jr. are sitting in Cueto’s office. Cueto says that it was a good debut for The Fiend and asks Blue Demon Jr. what he thought of his performance. Blue Demon Jr. says it was perfect, as always. He has every confidence that The Fiend will win the Cueto Luchadores Cup. Hopefully, that is all it will take to get El Santo’s attention. Then, he will come back to the Temple, bringing Dario Cueto with him, and together they can rid the world of them. Then, there will be nothing stopping them. The dark blue reign of terror will take hold and the world will be theirs.
