NWA Championship Wrestling May 16, 2020, Saturday TV Taping
Our announcing team of Gordon Solie & Joey Styles in front of the huge NWA Logo for the new episode of NWA Championship Wrestling. Gordon & Joey welcome the fans NWA Championship Wrestling. Gordon & Joey open discussing the situation between 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper & 'the Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko. Last week right on TV, Zbyszko avoided Piper in their match before taking a count out loss. (Video repeat from last week: Piper has issued a challenge for the next ppv for Zbyszko - the choice of a Kentucky Chain Match or a Dog Collar Match. Roddy wants to keep Larry in the ring to get his revenge. For incentive, the Rowdy one will put up $25,000 to get Larry to sign. Commissioner Jim Barnett comes out & says he has made the offer to Mr. Zbyszko. He can accept Mr. Piper's offer or prepare to be suspended for a year with out pay. It's his choice.
Suddenly, Zbyszko comes out & is not a happy camper. He refuses the offer saying he does not want to bed tied to Piper by a chain in any kind of match like that. But as Barnett reminds him of the alternative, Larry has another alternative -- a steel cage. with Piper's money on the line as well. Piper comes out & Larry backs up. Roddy says he will accept the cage match offer instead -- but none of his money goes up unless Zbyszko matches it. Piper reminds Zbyszko that the $25,000 was offered only if he accepted the Kentucky Chain Match or the Dog Collar Match. And 'the Living Legend' refused them both. Piper says he will see him in the cage --which was what Piper wanted all along. Larry pitches a hissy fit & says no way he is putting money up if Piper isn't!!!)
We are back live with Gordon & Joey who are with 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper. Piper says last week he put away 'Maniac' Matt Borne in a $5,000 bounty match put up by you-know-who. Now today, he has 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer. Piper tells Zbyszko that the bounty hunters ain't getting the job done. Roddy says he will be there May 31 in that cage match to finish the 'Living Legend' once & for all. Piper leaves when we get some unhappy guests.
The President of the Rock Hunter Organization Rock Hunter is out with the United States Tag Team Champions the Masked Assassins & the Missouri Mauler. Hunter wants to speak on the air with the Commissioner of the NWA - Jim Barnett about a matter concerning the PPV. Barnett makes his way out when Hunter asks him why his group was left out of the match between the stables. The Commissioner explains James J. Dillon has a NWA World's Heavyweight Champion in Nick Bockwinkel & 'Playboy' Gary Hart has the NWA World's Tag Team Champions Miracle Violence Corp. The winning stable gets a title shot at the losing stable's World's Belt on the June Pay-Per-View. Second, Mr. Hart & Mr. Dillon have 4 men in their stables. So Mr. Hunter, you have no World's Champions in your stable & have just 3 members. It would put your men at a disadvantage if they were included. Those are the two reasons. You have a fine stable Mr. Hunter but are lacking another member to be in this special event. Those are the reasons the Hunter Organization is not in the battle of the stables match.
Barnett tells Hunter if he can sign a 4th man by the next TV taping, he will include them in the match. Now he has to explain the new circumstances to James J. Dillon & 'Playboy' Gary Hart who are bound to be unhappy with a possible change. Rock tells them he will have a fourth man signed before next Saturday. Gordon & Joey discuss what just happened. There may be a major change next Saturday for the May 31 PPV.
